Camila Cabello and James Corden stopped Hollywood traffic with a flash mob to promote the upcoming film, Cinderella. Sony first announced the development of the Cinderella film in 2019, but amid Covid-19 concerns, the studio canceled the film's theatrical release and sold the film to Amazon. Now, it is scheduled for release on Amazon Prime on September 3rd, 2021.

Cinderella will be a musical adaption of the classic fairy tale and will star Cabello, Corden, Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, and Minnie Driver. While the film is based on the classic story, it will be a somewhat modernized take on it. Amazon's trailer illustrated that Cinderella starts off similar to the tale fans are familiar with - an orphaned girl who is tormented by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, goes to the ball and meets her love interest, Prince Robert. However, the film will take a different approach in that Cinderella doesn't run away with her Prince but instead pursues her own dream of being a dressmaker.

As shown by Film Updates, in promotion for Cinderella, Cabello, Corden, Menzel, and Porter took to the streets of Hollywood with a fun flash mob. The actors were decked out in their characters' costumes, with Corden even donning a full mouse suit for the skit. The cast covered Jennifer Lopez's "Let's Get Loud" and danced up to the windows of surprised onlookers. Check out the flash mob below:

The flash mob is likely promotion for Cinderella, with Corden having filmed similar skits for his talk show. The crew went all out with Porter donning his Fab G costume, Cabello singing, and Corden thrusting his hips towards the window of an onlooker. Reactions to the mob were mixed on social media; while some got on board with the festive attitude, others were much more critical. Users were quick to roast Corden for his costume and dance, while others pointed out the inconsideration of interrupting commuters with the mob and the noticeable absence of masks and social distancing among the mob participants. While the skit may be fun to watch from a distance, it likely wasn't appreciated by individuals who were simply trying to get to work in a city that is already traffic-clogged enough without flash mobs.

Overall, while a Cinderella-themed flash mob is certainly entertaining, the cast might have missed their mark just a bit based on social media reactions. However, it is refreshing to see the cast's excitement and commitment towards the film. Set to release in just a few days, the live-action Cinderella film could be quite monumental. It will certainly boast more diversity than the classic tale and a message that is more empowering for women and girls. As illustrated by the cast's participation in the mob, it is a film with ideals that the cast can get behind. However, promotional tactics should always be done in consideration for others. Blocking traffic and coming up to vehicles' windows without a mask may not be the best way to alert individuals to Amazon's upcoming Cinderella.
