Kat Dennings is excited to see her co-star Natalie Portman become The Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. Dennings and Portman both joined the MCU in 2011's Thor, with Dennings playing Darcy Lewis, a political science major interning with Portman's Jane Foster. The two reprised their roles in 2013's Thor: The Dark World but were not seen in the MCU for years after that as both were left out of the third film, Thor: Ragnarok.

However, both were confirmed to be reprising their roles. Dennings joined the cast of WandaVision, reprising her role as Darcy Lewis. Meanwhile, Portman was brought on stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 to reveal she would return as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder and would become the Mighty Thor. Jane Foster's Thor was introduced in the comics in October 2014 during Jason Aaron's run on the comic, which is serving as a major inspiration for Taika Waitit's Thor: Love and Thunder.

According to Cinema Blend, Dennings is incredibly excited for her former Thor co-star to suit up in Thor: Love and Thunder. Dennings is both a co-star and friend of Portman, but is also a fan of hers. Dennings has nothing but supporting words for both the choice to make Portman a superhero, as well as Portman herself. Read what Dennings said below:

"I thought it was genius. The most genius thing I’ve ever heard. It’s so brilliant. She’s a rockstar actor she can do anything. So I’m just so excited. As a fan, I’m just excited to watch it."

Sadly, Dennings will not appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, so she will not get a chance to share a scene with Portman's new Mighty Thor. However, Dennings has confirmed she is going to appear in another Marvel project but isn't clear on if it's another Disney+ series or a possible movie. Meanwhile, it is unknown if Portman has signed on for multiple projects, or if she is just set to reprise her role as Jane Foster for Thor: Love and Thunder. It is unclear if she is being positioned to take over the role from Hemsworth, similar to how both Black Widow and Hawkeye are setting up new characters to take on their hero's mantle.

The return of both Kat Dennings and Natalie Portman to the MCU speaks to a larger trend among many of the Phase 4 projects where concepts, characters, and storylines from Phase 1 are returning. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings brings back Abomination from 2008's The Incredible Hulk and also pays off the Mandarin tease from the first Iron Man film. Darcy Lewis has a lot in common with Phil Coulson, a character created for the MCU that went on to become a fan favorite. Darcy could become the glue that connects various points in the MCU together and possibly give her a chance to reunite with Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor after the events of Thor: Love and Thunder.
