Upcoming MCU films will feature more alien planets, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. While the MCU started out with very earth-bound heroes like Iron Man and the Hulk, with the introduction of Thor, the cosmic side of the universe began to be teased. The alien invasion in The Avengers set the stage for the MCU to go more cosmic with films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok, and Captain Marvel.

Across the various MCU films, worlds beyond Earth have been explored. Outside of the nine realms of the Thor universe, audiences have been transported to Xandar, the home of the Nova Corps in Guardians of the Galaxy, The Kree homeworld of Hala in Captain Marvel, and even the planet Vormir in Avengers: Infinity War. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 even introduced Ego, the Living Planet as the main villain. The cosmic side of the MCU will be explored more in the upcoming Eternals, which will feature the cosmic creators, the Celestials.

It appears that the MCU will be exploring plenty of new alien worlds across the various films in the next few years. In an interview with Collider, Feige said that audiences will see many new alien planets in the MCU. Audiences can expect to see them before and after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Feige's full quote can be read below:

"It is called the universe after all, and I think audiences now are very comfortable going to strange planets with us. So we certainly will continue to do that before Guardians 3 and after Guardians 3."

There is no word yet on which planets will be explored, but there are many films that could explore alien homeworlds. While Eternals will explore the history of Earth, a sequel could feature more alien planets. Thor: Love and Thunder draws inspiration from Jason Aaron's Thor comic series, which explores various alien planets. Christian Bale's character Gorr the God Butcher's species and planet name are unknown, so that will likely be explained in the sequel. The ending of WandaVision set up Monica Rambeau joining S.W.O.R.D. in space so the upcoming film The Marvels could be a more cosmic story and possibly feature the Skrull homeworld of Skrullos or their new home, which in the comics is Tarnax IV. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will wrap up the story for the main team and could explore the homeworlds for characters like Groot and Rocket.

Thanks to the 20th Century Fox purchase, Marvel Studios now has access to various cosmic characters and locations associated with the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. The Shi'ar Empire could be explored in an upcoming Marvel film, possibly The Marvels, since legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont famously reused a lot of his cosmic ideas he had for his Carol Danvers led Ms. Marvel comic into his X-Men stories. Audiences could also see Zenn-La, which is the homeworld of Norin Radd, aka the Silver Surfer, in a future Fantastic Four project. And where the Silver Surfer is, Galactus is not far behind. In short, the MCU cosmic possibilities truly seem to be endless.
