Where Wong Was Taking To Abomination After Their Shang-Chi Fight

Wong (Benedict Wong) fights Abomination (Tim Roth) in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but just where are the pair headed after their battle? One of the biggest surprises in the marketing for Shang-Chi was the reveal of Abomination's return, with the character - real name Emil Blonsky - having not been seen since 2008's The Incredible Hulk. As Marvel Phase 4 looks to bring back elements of that largely forgotten MCU movie, then Abomination's return is a key part of that, although his role in Shang-Chi is relatively small.

Abomination's appearance in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is only slightly bigger (though no less entertaining) than what was shown in the trailers, as he fights Wong in the underground fighting club run by Xu Xialing (Meng'er Zhang). Wong gets the better of the super solder serum-enhanced individual, but what's more surprising is that they're on friendly terms after their scrap. Wong jokes with Abomination and suggests there'll be a rematch, before opening up a portal to take him somewhere.

It isn't confirmed where Wong is taking Abomination after their Shang-Chi fight, and there's only a brief glimpse of the location, which is largely nondescript. However, based on what can be seen, combined with what's known of Abomination's arc and possible MCU future, then the most likely option is the Raft. The top-level prison is designed for housing those with superpowers or otherwise superhuman abilities, and so it would make sense for Abomination to be locked-up there. Blonsky was previously taken to a SHIELD facility in Alaska after his initial arrest, where he was held in a cryo-cell, but given the organization's largely being replaced in Phase 4, then it's more fitting that he's transferred elsewhere, and the Raft is the best place for him.

The Raft was not only briefly the home to members of Team Captain America, but it's where Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) resides after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It's expected Zemo will begin putting together the MCU's Thunderbolts team, and Abomination being in the Raft would be perfect setup for him to join the roster of reformed supervillains. Abomination is expected to return in the MCU's future, both in She-Hulk and beyond, so positioning him in the Raft allows for easy connections to other characters, with the potential for him to link back-up with General Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) as well as Zemo, since he was instrumental in sending members of Team Cap there.

Of course, it's not completely clear cut that Wong is taking Abomination to the Raft. The two are on friendly terms, and it seems as though he's very much changed his ways, while it may also be complicated to simply be taking Abomination out of prison to compete in underground fighting tournaments like those in Shang-Chi. It may instead be that Wong is aiding Abomination in some way and providing sanctuary at the Sanctum Sanctorum, but either way it seems Abomination (with or without Wong) has a role to play in the MCU's future after Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
