Players have begun spreading warnings among Titanfall 2 fans, suggesting that the game may be seeing issues that could leave systems compromised in some way if not addressed. It's unknown if there is a compromise in Titanfall 2's servers, although many are suggesting that players should either uninstall the game immediately or at least not launch it.

This rumor appears to have originated as a warning from a user of a Titanfall 2 discord server, and has since been shared across the game's active community, although some fans have been skeptical of these reports, calling it either a misinterpretation or a hoax. Respawn Entertainment has recently responded on Twitter to the possible compromise, though, the developer didn't have further details to share while the issue continues to be investigated.

According to the original post, an attack on the Titanfall 2 servers has left the game compromised in a way that allows a third party full access of whatever system has logged into the game. This means that a hacker with this type of backdoor access can then run any program that the system running the game has, or possibly install more malicious software while in control. The compromise apparently extends to both PC and console players, giving hackers full access of whatever platform the players use when logging into Titanfall 2's multiplayer.

Several fans have also begun to poke holes in the alleged compromise, suggesting that this might be a hoax or the source is unfamiliar with the nature of temporary memory. This is because the compromise is reportedly a side effect of the way that Titanfall 2's multiplayer invite system has a character limit on names that can be saved and extends the additional text onto another program that when taken out of temporary memory will execute like a program. While the further detail is fairly convincing for most players who might not be well versed in programing language, some fans with software backgrounds are skeptical of this leading to malware compromises on all platforms.

The situation at the moment is certainly frightening to players, especially if it is true that the issue could affect PC and console similarly. So, it may be best for fans to hold off from launching the game for now, at least when connected to any online services, and wait for further information directly from Respawn Entertainment. That being said, while caution is generally the better option in this situation, the current threat of hackers on Titanfall 2 could be dealt with fairly soon.

Titanfall 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
