The Borderlands series is full of loud, zany, and chaotic characters, but Tiny Tina the pint-size demolitions specialist is easily one of the franchise's most memorable, which may explain why she's getting her own game in the form of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. This upcoming spin-off title was featured in the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, where Tiny Tina's Wonderlands revealed a glimpse of this game's Vault Hunters, some fantastical destinations, a variety of monstrous enemies, a surprising amount of guns for a fantasy world, and the game's release date.

The last time Tiny Tina sat in the Dungeon Master's chair was during a Borderlands 2 DLC campaign where she faced off against the game's Vault Hunters. This time, players won't just be taking on the role of existing Vault Hunters--for the first time in a Borderlands game, they'll have the ability to create a customizable, multi-class avatar. The gameplay reveal trailer shared during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase doesn't just show off the world Tiny Tina has created, it also shows off the new Vault Hunters players can create alongside her.

When the trailer begins, fans of metal music may recognize the girlish voices and hard, driving beat of the band of the Japanese metal band Babymetal. The Tiny Tina's Wonderlands gameplay reveal trailer draws on a similar contradictory tone as the visuals combine bright colors, giant soda cans, and flashy magical spells with the constant rat-a-tat of gunfire, grotesque foes, and Tiny Tina's hilarious but disturbing narration. Enemies shown off in this video include the shambling undead, toothy treasure chest mimics, the Dragon Lord, and some very literal dragons. According to the end of the trailer, the game will be released on March 25, 2022.

The trailer also shows off more of Tiny Tina's personality, whether in her dramatic, rapid-fire explanations--or refusals to explain herself, as the case may be. Tiny Tina has been through a lot over the years and her previous campaign in Borderlands 2 was used partly to help her accept the death of someone important to her. It's possible that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will include a similar dark undercurrent to its seemingly cheerful story.

Also featured in the trailer are some of the cosmetics Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will be offering, ranging from intimidating armor to feathery hat-and-cloak combos. It seems like both Tiny Tina and the devs have put a lot of work into making sure this game looks just right. Some fans have raised concerns about the gameplay looking too slow, but it's difficult to raise any serious complaints at this point in development. In the meantime, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands appears set to invite players into a world of metal, magic, and lots and lots of guns.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands releases on March 25, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
