Black Widow Taskmaster Actress Would Do Disney+ Spinoff Show

Black Widow's Olga Kurylenko says that she would be open to appearing in a Taskmaster show on Disney+. Born in Ukraine, Kurylenko began her career as a model before transitioning to film. She received the certificate of excellence award at the Brooklyn International Film Festival in 2006 for her performance in L'Annulaire and later appeared in the likes of 2006's Hitman and Quantum of Solace, in which she portrayed Camille Montes.

In the comics, Taskmaster is a mercenary with photographic memory, meaning he is capable of mimicking the fighting style of whoever he encounters. In Black Widow, the character was revealed to be Antonia Dreykov, the daughter of the film's villain Dreykov (the Red Room's founder). Antonia was initially believed to be dead after Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff detonated a bomb to kill Dreykov while Antonia was in the blast radius. In the film's climax, Antonia was revealed to be the one under the helmet, serving as an elite enforcer for her father against her will. The film ended with Antonia seemingly forgiving Natasha before leaving with other Widows.

Speaking to GamesRadar about her secret role in Black Widow, Kurylenko said that she believed that, by the end of the film, Antonia had forgiven Natasha for what she did. When asked if the ending suggested that her character could return in the future, Kurylenko played coy. However, when asked if she would be open to a Disney+ show featuring Taskmaster, she said: "Mmm let me think about it. No, I'm kidding. Of course I would. [Laughs] Of course."

While the twist that Antonia was the one beneath Taskmaster's helmet left some fans dissatisfied, as they had long been awaiting the character's arrival in the MCU, the reveal fit perfectly with the film's themes, especially with it being Johansson's final turn as Natasha. Unfortunately it also meant that Kurylenko didn't get the opportunity to show off her array of talent as much, although she was certainly an intimidating presence regardless. A Taskmaster series would be an excellent place for her to shine and flesh out the character further, although it does seem unlikely.

However, it's doubtful that the film is the last audiences have seen of Kurylenko as Taskmaster. With her and the other Widows leaving to track down their fellow agents around the world, it seems more than likely she could appear later down the line in a Black Widow sequel starring Florence Pugh's Yelena. She could even end up working for Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina or Meng'er Zhang's Xialing and her new Ten Rings organization. Whatever the MCU has in store for the character, hopefully Kurylenko will have the chance further develop her portrayal of Taskmaster.
