Fashion and Animal Crossing have gone hand in hand since the franchise's beginnings on the Nintendo Gamecube. The series features a custom design editor that has allowed fans to create plenty of breathtaking Animal Crossing outfits for their characters to flaunt. With the massive success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons following its release last March, one particular fashion designer has launched a new line of clothing that pays homage to the game's iconic style.

Creativity and customization has been one of the core facets of Animal Crossing since the franchise's origins. The freedom of the game's custom design system allows players to create their own designs from scratch to use for both fashion and interior design. The newest title, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has seen plenty of unique and inventive ideas from its legions of fans over the year and a half since its release. Players have used Animal Crossing: New Horizons to make no shortage of amazing outfits, and sportswear company Puma has clearly taken notice.

Puma had previously teased their upcoming collaboration with Animal Crossing and officially launched the Puma x Animal Crossing collection today. The collection features a variety of shoes, sandals, shirts, and hoodies, all of which feature the Animal Crossing branding. The many options for designs all carry the pastel greens and blues that Animal Crossing: New Horizons uses for its branding and many of its in-game fashion options. The collaboration features clothing for both adults and children, with adult sneakers starting at $90 and hoodies starting at $80.

Puma's newest video game themed venture is not the company's first foray into the gaming clothing market, nor their first collaboration with Nintendo. Puma and Nintendo have previously worked together on NES and Mario-themed shoes to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series. Animal Crossing also previously collaborated with Australian clothing company BlackMilk to create a women's clothing line based on the popular title.

The newest title in the franchise, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, has quickly become the most successful release in the franchise's nearly twenty-year-long history. The easygoing life simulation game received universal acclaim, and it went on to break several sales records for both the franchise and Nintendo as a whole. New Horizons has inspired some of the Animal Crossing franchise's most creative fans to create their own masterpieces within the game, with Nintendo turning its passionate playerbase into savvy fashion designers in their own right.

One style of sneaker featured within the Puma x Animal Crossing collection has already sold out, so fans should act fast to secure their own island-inspired outfits.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
