Released in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 is tied for being the highest-rated game on both the PS4 and Xbox One, sitting at an incredible 97 Metacritic score. Developed by Rockstar Games over a span of eight years and with a near-unlimited budget, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most technically impressive games ever created.

With a sprawling recreation of the west and realistic character models, Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly a looker, but there is more to its beauty than just gorgeous graphics. Rockstar’s extensive pool of talent combined with the game’s lengthy development has allowed the seasoned developer to cram in a level of extraordinary detail in the title, and it’s these details that make the little moments in Red Dead Redemption 2 so compelling.

Reddit user TDogBud710 has found another one of these profound particulars in the game. An early mission called “Americans at Rest” features a bar brawl at the saloon located in Red Dead Redemption 2's Valentine. During the brawl, a massive man named Tommy joins in the skirmish. Protagonist Arthur Morgan and Tommy partake in a brutal, drawn-out fight that starts in the saloon and ends outside in the muddy street. Despite Arthur being seemingly no match for the towering Tommy at first, he eventually gains the upper hand and badly beats the bigger man in the street before onlookers finally stop the fight.

Later on in the game during the mission “A Quiet Time,” Arthur takes fellow Van der Linde gang member Lenny Summers back to the Valentine saloon for a night of debauchery. While at the saloon, Arthur can encounter Tommy again, except now Tommy has a dent in his skull where Arthur had struck him repeatedly at the end of the fight. Should Arthur try to talk to Tommy, he will only respond with grunts and moans, implying that he can no longer speak due to the damage caused during the scuffle. Some NPC dialog mentions this, too, with other characters in Valentine commenting on how Tommy just isn’t the same anymore after the fight.

The post has been a hit with the Red Dead Redemption community, earning over seven thousand upvotes as of writing. Some Reddit users have commented on other various pieces of dialog in the game that mention Tommy’s ailment, and others are praising Rockstar for putting such unique detail and effort into the title.

Of course, Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t the only game to be praised for its impeccable detail. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2's photo mode can also be used to reveal incredible detail. Still, Red Dead Redemption 2’s remarkable scale alongside its finer minutiae like Tommy’s scarred skull remains one of the game’s biggest strengths.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One
