James Gunn recently shared a behind-the-scenes video which imagines him as a member of The Suicide Squad. The renowned comic book director has provided his special touch to both the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy and now the DCEU with The Suicide Squad. The latest installment of Gunn's film repertoire, which debuted earlier this summer, received a warm welcome from critics in stark contrast to its 2016 predecessor, Suicide Squad. Currently boasting an impressive 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Gunn has proven that his DC ensemble of anti-heroes could rival his rag-tag Marvel team.

The Suicide Squad claimed an impressive line-up of cast members, with returning stars Margot Robbie as the fan-favorite Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Kourtney as Captain Boomerang, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. They were joined by a host of weird but wonderful new characters, with John Cena as Peacemaker, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Daniela Melchoir as Ratcatcher 2, Sylvester Stallone as King Shark, and David Datmalchian as Polka-Dot-Man. The film follows the newly formed Task Force X on a deadly mission to Corto Maltese to find and destroy the mysterious Project Starfish.

Now James Gunn, who has been sharing lots of behind-the-scenes goodies in recent days, has posted a BTS video to Twitter. In the video, fans are treated to the assembled Task Force X making a customary "hero walk" with accompanying backing music from the soundtrack of John Murphy. Clearly wanting in on the intensely cool scene, Gunn dashes into shot for a brief moment of hero-hood. Check out the video below:

This sneak-peek behind the camera is just the latest in a series of posts Gunn has gifted to fans in recent days. He recently confirmed a Toxic Avenger Easter egg, shared some Harley Quinn costume concept art, posted an original drawing for Rick Flag's T-shirt, and revealed the first and last scenes shot for the film. With his work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 currently underway, fans of both the DCEU and MCU ought to be keeping close tabs on Gunn's social media feeds, which is perhaps what the director is hoping for.

Quickly becoming a full-time comic book filmmaker for both cinematic universes, Gunn is likely also hoping to pump some fan fervor for The Suicide Squad into his new television spinoff, Peacemaker, which exclusively follows the titular character played by John Cena. Peacemaker played a key role in the latest film and proved a popular new addition to the DCEU. The uniquely funny character with a seemingly confused moral compass will make his television debut in 2022.
