In 2019, Twitch streamer Axiun was primarily known for playing games like League of Legends and feuding with other Twitch content creators. Then, during TwitchCon in September 2019, the streamer was banned from the platform, presumably for only 30 days. Axiun at first said it was for being rude to another player in Overwatch, but it later came out and said that the ban had been for giving his 2019 TwitchCon pass to Asian Andy, another Twitch streamer who was prohibited from attending the convention at the time.

Axiun tried to blame the situation on a misunderstanding, claiming that he had lost his TwitchCon badge at a party and his friend Asian Andy had arrived at the convention to return it to him. However, there was video footage of Axiun and his friend hanging out inside the convention hall together, and the Twitch streamer later admitted that he had actually given his pass to Asian Andy and others. Fellow Twitch streamer Asmongold commented on the situation: “I would’ve banned Axiun too…. I like Axiun, but that’s a stupid thing to do." Many people were of the same opinion, but few expected Twitch to enforce Axiun’s removal from the platform for over two years.

In June 2021, Axiun made a plea on Twitter, asking for Twitch to reconsider his lengthy ban. “I have faced my punishment…. I learned from my mistakes and am now asking for another chance.” Although Twitch never responded to the public request, Axiun has finally been allowed to return to Twitch two years and some days after being banned. It’s unclear how many followers Axiun had at the time of his suspension from Twitch, but he retained nearly 27,000 during his absence.

Axiun had his first livestream on Twitch just a few hours after the ban was lifted, with much of the discussion centered around the content creator’s excitement and surprise at being unexpectedly unbanned from the platform. Axiun was unprepared for the impromptu stream, initially having no cameras set up and leaving the “Starting Soon” screen displayed for 20 minutes. Then, still with no face cam, Axiun briefly checked out his character stats in Amazon’s recently released MMORPG New World while chatting with his viewers before ending the 30-minute stream.

The irony of the situation is that the streamer Axiun was banned for giving his TwitchCon pass to, AsianAndy, has simply moved from making content on Twitch to YouTube, where he has continued to have a successful streaming career with over 1 million subscribers. It’s not clear why Axiun didn’t follow suit and begin streaming on YouTube but, either way, the content creator seems thrilled to be back on Twitch and able to make content again.
