Michael Myers may stick around after Halloween Ends as Jason Blum wants more Halloween movies after the planned rebooted trilogy concludes. Blum is the founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions, which has produced notable horror franchises, including Paranormal Activity and The Purge. The production company was also given the task of rebooting the Halloween franchise, beginning with the first film releasing in 2018. The second installment in the planned trilogy, Halloween Kills, is scheduled to hit theaters later this month.

The final film in the series, Halloween Ends, is expected to bring closure for Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her battle against Michael Myers. For nearly 40 years, Strode has been stalked by the serial killer, Myers, across seven total movies. While Curtis first had some reservations against reprising her role in 2018’s Halloween revamp, it seems her storyline may be nearing its end. However, if Blum gets his way, that won’t be the last time audiences see Michael Myers.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Blum voiced his pleasure in making more Halloween movies after Halloween Ends releases. Blum explains that while his team’s focus is currently on making the third movie, which has yet to film, he would be “thrilled” if their involvement in the franchise extends beyond that. However, Blum does also make it clear that “there are currently no plans” for future Halloween movies at this time. View Blum’s full quote below:

"We made an arrangement for three movies. We had a three-picture marriage with Michael Myers. I would love to extend it. If Malek [Akkad] would like us, I'd love to extend it, but we're very busy making sure the third movie is spectacular because that's our immediate job and if it goes beyond that, I'd be thrilled. But there are currently no plans for us to be involved after this third movie."

A movie titled Halloween Ends in a long-running franchise ominously implies the conclusion of the main storyline. Curtis herself has even suggested her role as Laurie Strode in the Halloween universe most likely won’t extend beyond the third upcoming movie. So, while it is unlikely to see her character in future movies, that doesn’t mean the end for Michael Myers. Ryan Freiman, a producer for Halloween Ends, has also elaborated on the possibility of expanding the Halloween franchise, saying, “I think there are other ways and other mediums in which to explore this franchise.” Freiman also brings up the possibility of remaking Season of the Witch, which was the third movie in the Halloween franchise that ironically didn’t feature Michael Myers in it. If Myers does meet his end in Halloween Ends, the franchise could always shift gears to something like the storyline of Halloween 3.

Yet, Halloween 3 was not well received by fans and critics, which prompted the creators to bring Michael back for the next installment. A Halloween movie without the masked serial killer just doesn’t seem right. Therefore, while Strode’s story will most likely end with Halloween Ends, if Blumhouse does continue the franchise, Michael Myers will more than likely return in one fashion or another, meaning audiences will still face the terror of Michael for years to come.
