Hey guys

i'm curious about the whole Usenet thing but i can't completly wrap my head around it.

AFAIK it works like this: I subscribe to a Usenet-Group for a monthly fee to gain access and after that it's just like a torrent tracker right?

Are there servers that provide the content or is it still P2P? I don't really see the benefit of it or are the server speeds so fast that it's worth it to pay for access?

Thanks!

This guide covers pretty much everything you need for Usenet. Might be little outdated but you can figure it out easily.

I used usenets for about a month, just for trying it out and it didn't make sense paying money when you can get almost everything(90-95%) for free in trackers another sites. But YMMV.

You need to subscribe to access to usenet servers. Then you need to have one indexer (site with .nzb files).

Then you just need to download one usenet software, put usenet login/password and select the .nzb file that will make you have access to the file you want.

I guess you can compare .nzb files to .torrent files, but they are very different protocols.

It is not P2P. You download directly from servers.

There are several cons and pros. You just need to make a little search to see if it fits you.

How is it compared to a DDL website like snahp or blackpearl? Does it have anything special to offer for the money it asks like speed? Also, is BD25 one of these Usenet groups?

DDL sites give you links by HTTP (browser)

Usenet have many advantages like redemption time, instant availability, speed, integration with many popular sreaming apps, etc.

BD25 is one indexer.
