Japanese Noir Movies Upload Contest!

Continuing with the rich film history of Japan, for this contest we will be focusing on their films noir. While the term primarily brings to mind the classic age of the American noir during the 40s and 50s, several other countries experienced similar sentiments and adapted the noir lens to their respective societies. Japan in particular began exploring the genre almost a decade earlier, but it hit its stride after the shock of World War II where life continued under occupation and the country struggled to rebuild and move past the shame of the war.

These films served as an unflattering mirror that reflected the social malaise that engulfed the nation, highlighting the crime, corruption, desperation, poverty, sickness, sweat, grime and dust of life, all taking place in seedy urban landscapes: ruined buildings, shady back-alleys, red districts, neon-lit harbors, mean streets and polluted lots. Some more traditional noir aspects are also present throughout, like the femme fatales, the ambivalent protagonists, the hardboiled sensibilities, and unguaranteed happy endings, among others, but often the formula was mixed up with elements of other genres like western, comedy, gangster, and more. On the technical side, of course, is the use of chiaroscuro lighting to create striking contrasts between light and shadows.

Despite the gloomy themes and backdrop, Japanese noir films are entertaining to watch, with complex characters, twisted thrills, dramatic plot twists, and cool aesthetics. They are definitely worth a watch.

Contest's rules:

The contest is limited to the Movies category.
Only movies with Japan exclusively as the country of origin are eligible.
Only movies released before 1970 are eligible.
The movie's genres must include (but not limited to) at least Action, Crime, or Drama, in at least one of the popular informational websites (IMDb, TMDB, Wikipedia, etc.) with the movie's detail page from such website added to the Info section in the Description in the Torrent Upload form.
Torrents must be tagged at the very least with the tag japanese.noir.contest in order to be considered.
Once you have uploaded your torrent(s) reply to the forum thread associated to this announcement to submit your entries for the contest. Group the links to your torrents in a single post, editing your post as necessary. If you would like to participate anonymously send us the links to your torrents in a Staff PM before the contest ends.
Additionally, for this contest it will be necessary to justify the movie as a film noir by adding a link to any webpage highlighting the movie(s) as belonging to the genre (listicle, review, Wikipedia page, etc.). Just add any link(s) below your torrent links. Re-using the links posted by other participants is allowed if they apply to your uploads.
Only torrents uploaded after the publication of this announcement count towards the contest.
All other standard torrent upload rules apply.

Rewards:

Upload at least 3 staff-approved torrents to receive a badge* to commemorate your participation in the contest.
Upload at least 15 staff-approved torrents to receive 15 tokens*, and 2 invites*.
All staff-approved torrents will receive Freeleech and Doubleseed status once approved and will keep that status for two weeks after the contest ends. The Freeleech only applies to torrents that wouldn't have gained Freeleech status automatically.
If the contest reaches 120 staff-approved torrents the site will go into Sitewide Freeleech up until 1 week after the contest ends. The sooner the target is reached the more days of freeleech there will be. If the contest reaches 150 staff-approved torrents, Sitewide Doubleseed will also be enabled.

* These rewards will be given once the contest has ended.

The contest will last until the end of June 19th.
