Minecraft isn’t an overly complicated game, and it isn’t exactly the most beautiful title either. However, the way it has attracted and addicted millions of players around the world is something to behold. The title has sold millions of copies across multiple platforms and recently released on PlayStation 3 as well. It’s a no brainer that it will continue to sell well and we’ll eventually be graced by its presence on Sony’s new machine, the PlayStation 4.
Since its launch, players of the game have been hard at work creating new mods and creations to blow each other away. It started out small, but now it’s reached a whole new level of extreme and epic proportions. We’ve scoured the internet to find the five greatest Minecraft creations and we’re sure they’ll be surpassed in due time.
Check out our Daily Five below and let us know if we missed any worth mentioning!
Game of Thrones: WesterosCraft
winterfell1.jpg
Easily one of the more impressive Minecraft creations, WesterosCraft strives to replicate the entire world of Westeros from George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series of books and the television show based on it, Game of Thrones. The image embedded above is Winterfell and, as you can see, they’ve managed to create the world almost flawlessly for fans of the franchise to enjoy upon completion. Currently, the estimate for completion is a year from now and the project is roughly 60% finished. That’s kind of a mind-boggling figure considering they’ve already poured over two years into the project as it is.
The team behind the project is always looking for more builders and coders to help speed the process along. If you’re a hardcore Minecraft creator and want to help this team reach their end goal, be sure to head on over to the official WesterosCraft website to apply to be a part of the team.
Atropos
Atropos was revealed this weekend by Minecraft player MinerArchitect. This extravagant world sits atop the back of a giant, mechanical sea turtle. When we first saw this creation, we were immediately blown away by the creativity that went into it. If you take a look at Miner’s Imgur album, you’ll be able to get a look at some early design sketches for the project and some cool .GIFs that show the progression of the steampunk-esque turtle/city as it was built.
Considering the size and scope of this project, it’s not too surprising to hear that it took over five months to complete. Westeros looked amazing in our previous entry, but Atropos takes the cake when it comes to pure genius and build skill. It’s much harder to come up with something like this from start-to-finish than it is to follow someone else’s blueprint.

ChocoCraft
Are you a Final Fantasy fan? If so, you’re going to love this Chocobo-inspired creation for Minecraft. The creator, Torojima, has built a mod that allows you to not only raise and tame Chocobo, but to also breed them as you did in Final Fantasy VII. This mod is definitely one of pure fanfare for an historic franchise and is sure to be loved by many. Chocobos are available in a wide variety of colors and just like in the game, you can also feed them Gyashl Greens. Once tamed enough, a collar pops up onto the Chocobo that means they’re yours forever!
This mod is fairly old, but we’re sure some of you still haven’t seen or heard of it yet. It also goes to show you how deep and extensive the build process is within the Minecraft application. If you think of it, you can pretty much build or create it within the game. That’s beyond impressive.
Pokémon-craft
Google Maps recently spread joy to the world by allowing us to search its application to catch Pokémon, but Minecraft brought us a world to explore doing the same thing much earlier. This great Pokémon creation by DiamondMinecart allows you to go on a journey you’ll never forget, all from a point of view that you’ve never experienced before. This world features a ton of Pokémon you can come across in the wild and features some of your favorite cities within the Johto region.
This Pokémon world is insane not only because you can explore one of your favorite environments in gaming, but because it also allows you to actually catch Pokémon with Pokéballs. The mod even does a wiggling Pokéball animation until it’s officially caught. You can tell that a lot of work and a lot of effort went into perfecting this world for fans of the game and franchise overall. It’s going to be hard to find a mod or creation that tops this one.
