We feel that for the average user with limited IT experience, this is the easiest service to use and it provides quick transfer speeds and produces exceptional image rendering.

The number of people who work from home every day or a few days a week is growing, and products like GoToMyPC are helping that number flourish. In fact, most office jobs in which you do not have to meet face to face with clients can successfully and securely be performed at home using this Citrix Systems remote access software. GoToMyPC also offers Pro and Corporate plans with administration tools for large teams.

We found GoToMyPC to be able to successfully and quickly execute the tasks we wanted it to perform. This remote service ran Adobe Creative Suite surprisingly well and it rendered good image quality. It easily edited invoices and sent emails, and it could perform administration duties and access the control panel. However, like most services, we could hear alerts from the host computer, but we could not hear streaming music. It can also remotely power off the host PC. We liked that it was able to recognize our host printer and it automatically set it up to remotely print. One thing to keep in mind though is that PC and Mac functions vary. For example, you cannot transfer files between a Mac and PC and the Mac version does not support guest invites or screenblanking.

Sharing Tools 10/10

GoToMyPC employs fast file transfer speeds and has a drag-and-drop tool that's easy to use. While testing we experienced that this service's transfer rates are among the best. It transferred an entire music album in around 11 minutes and consistently transferred 1MB image files in less than four seconds each. This remote service also has desktop sharing, a chat tool and the ability to invite guests. GoToMyPC can copy and paste between the host and local computer, which is a feature that few offer.

Ease of Use 10/10

This remote access service is one of the easiest to set up. To install GoToMyPC you do not need to know port information or IP addresses, and you don't have to reconfigure the firewall or bypass your security software. To install this service, you simply download their software to your host PC then log in to that computer from any PC, Mac or iPad through their website. We actually did not encounter any ease of use issues with this product and we found their file transfer tool to be one of the simplest to use since it lets you drag and drop.

Security 10/10

You would not expect a company like Citrix that supports over 230,000 organizations worldwide to fail on security – and they do not. GoToMyPC includes good security for the host and local PC as well as during transfers. This remote service posts a five-page PDF article explaining their extensive security protocols. Their protection measures include strong passwords, data encryption during transfers, end-to-end authentication, lockouts, host screen blanking, IP filtering and SSL session security. They also do not store your access codes. GoToMyPC supports all the security practices we were looking to find.

For a remote PC access company to provide competitive global support, it needs to provide 24/7 support. GoToMyPC does just that. They offer 24/7 technical and customer support in over 25 countries including the United States, Australia, France, Canada, Brazil and China. To further support their customers, most support numbers are toll-free as well. Chat support is available during standard Pacific Time business hours.

GoToMyPC's support section provides volumes of information including training videos, help topics, user guides, a searchable knowledgebase and monthly online training sessions. We found their training videos helpful, and they responded to our email queries within the same day. In terms of social media, they have accounts with Twitter and Facebook. Though they do not provide extensive support via Twitter and Facebook, they do respond to customer comments and post news and links to interesting articles regularly.

Citrix Online, the company that provides GoToMyPC, also powers an extremely useful blog called Workshifting that covers an extensive variety of related information.
