Kodak Prepping Android Smartphone for CES 2015, Tablet and Camera on the Way Too

For so many years the Kodak name has been synonymous with photography. But back in 2012 the company almost went bankrupt, so it has been struggling to remain afloat ever since

In an interesting twist of events, it appears Kodak is willing to dab its fingers into virtually unknown waters in order to attract some cash flow.
Kodak and the Bullitt Group are building Android mobile devices

The company has recently announced it was partnering up with the Bullitt Group in order to introduce its first line of mobile devices which includes a smartphone and a tablet. The handset will make a debut into the wild as soon at the CES 2015 event that’s scheduled to take place in the early days of January.

The official press release says the smartphones are designed for customers craving the high-end experience but who aren't necessarily comfortable with the increasing complexity of these devices.

Kodak is aiming to bestow a set of particular features on its first line of handsets, in order to distinguish itself from the crowd.

The smartphone will apparently be able to allow your friends and family to remotely interact with your phone, but we’re not told exactly how this will be achieved. The phones will let you quickly print content onboard of your phone, in case you want a physical copy of the information stored in there.

You’re probably wondering about the Bullitt group, what’s their deal? The company has been in the business of making mobile rugged devices which construction companies tend to pick up. Well, through Kodak, Bullitt is obviously trying to expand its portfolio of devices and go mainstream.

We should expect to see the handset arrive first, but Kodak has more products in its goodie bag for you. In the second half of the year, the photography giant is expected to roll out a 4G handset, a tablet and a connected camera.

We forgot to mention that Kodak’s upcoming devices will be powered by Android, so hopefully we will see Android 5.0 Lollipop arrive onboard with them.

Kodak’s upcoming Android-infused products aren't the first in their category. For example, Samsung already launched the Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy K zoom (camera/smartphone hybrid), while Panasonic also has a similar product in the form of the Lumix DMC-CM1.

Other manufacturers like Nikon also have Android-based cameras, so Kodak will be making an entry in an already fairly populated ecosystem. Will it succeed to grab the attention of mobile device users everywhere? We’ll have to wait until CES 2015 when the products are expected to be unveiled.
