Nick Lachey thinks missing out on family time is a crime.

The 41-year-old star is married to wife Vanessa and the couple are currently expecting a little girl to join their two-year-old son Camden. Nick is currently busy with his solo album, Soundtrack of My Life, which features covers of his favourite film tracks, but he won't let his work get in the way of his loved ones.

"There's nothing I'd rather do than spend time with my son. Vanessa and I make a point to spend at least one night a week together," he explained to US OK! magazine. "I think there's no bigger crime than focusing all your time on [your] career and missing out on the important stuff in life, which is your family."

And Nick couldn't be more eager about becoming a dad for the second time. He's especially looking forward to the dynamics of having a little girl to look after.

"I can't imagine loving a child more than I love Camden, but there's something different about having a little girl. So I'm excited to experience that kind of love," he smiled.

Fatherhood has inspired Nick musically as well as emotionally. When asked if he has any other projects in the pipeline the singer hinted at penning something for his unborn daughter similar to what he did for Camden.

"Nothing imminent. I did a lullaby album for my son, so maybe I'll have to do something for my daughter, just so she doesn't grow up thinking Daddy's playing favourites!" he laughed.
