Nicki Minaj thought she was 'going to die' after having an abortion.

The Anaconda singer opened up about the traumatic time in her life to the latest issue of Rolling Stone. While she made the decision as a teen, it is something that still affects the 32-year-old to this day.

'I thought I was going to die. I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through,' she revealed. '[it] haunted me all my life. It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice. I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child.'

Nicki found out she was pregnant while attending the prestigious Manhattan performing-arts high school LaGuardia. She alludes to the situation on her latest album, The PinkPrint and admits she finds it hard that the world is listening to ever word she raps.

'Millions of people are gonna hear it. And you gotta watch everything you say - people find an issue with every f***ing thing,' she added.

However Nicki is still hugely passionate about music and admits she has little patience for artists who don't work on their craft as seriously as she does.

She also added that she is as determined as ever to inspire other women.

'With a video like Anaconda, I'm a grown-ass f***ing woman! I stand for girls wanting to be sexy and dance, but also having a strong sense of themselves,' she continued. 'If you got a big ol' butt? Shake it! Who cares? That doesn't mean you shouldn't be graduating from college.'

To continue being that inspiration, the beauty thought it was best to release her most personal record to date.

'One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life, because it's something I've kept very private,' she said.
