With Avengers: Age of Ultron approaching fast, fans can't seem to get enough of their favorite Marvel superheroes. Ever since the arrival of its trailer in October of last year, the worldwide web has gone bonkers for everything and anything Avengers, creating knockoffs, remakes, mashups and spoofs of Cap, Stark, Hulk, Widow and the rest of the gang. Arguably, The Avengers franchise has inspired more fan-made internet material than any other film series in history. Right now, we're going to draw attention to a newly-surfaced throwback mock trailer of The Avengers done in the style of Zack Snyder's Watchmen. Check it out below.

The mashup trailer, posted by The Unusual Suspect, features the Smashing Pumpkins track "The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning," which you may recognize from the original Watchmen trailer from about half a decade ago (it seems so long ago). It's weird seeing the Marvel characters moving to the beat of the DC film but entertaining none the less. If the intention was for me to go back and re-watch the trailers for both Watchmen and The Avengers, then goal achieved!

After re-watching Snyder's Watchmen trailer, I was immediately transported back to 2009 when I first saw it. While Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A Changin'" will always be the song I associate the most with the onscreen versions of Alan Moore's brilliant characters, The Pumpkins really bring the world of these superheroes to life. I can foresee a viewing of the epic 186-minute director's cut in my very near future. Feel free to take a trip down memory lane with the trailer below.

This is only the latest of The Avengers mashups to grace fans' computer screens. Prior to this little gem, we've had our favorite superheroes served to us in a plethora of ways. We've seen what Darth Vader looks like as Ultron in the Star Wars mashup, which any fan of either series can appreciate. We've seen what Cap and friends would look like if Age of Ultron were a micro-budget film as opposed to its $250 million dollar budget. We've seen a snappy animated version of Ultron scaring the crap out of his feeble opposition with a variety of alternate classic Disney lines. Heck, back around the holidays we were even treated to Stark and the boys singing Christmas carols.

Though all incarnations have generally been fun, this one is particularly special as it gifts us with a little Marvel/DC crossover. While it isn't what fans of the comics have been dying to see as far as the two worlds colliding, it does give us a little bit of a taste for what's eventually going to come. While it's likely we won't see a crossover between the two universes and their superheroes anytime soon, their eventual fusion is inevitable.

The latest Avengers installment, the Joss Whedon-directed Avengers: Age of Ultron, hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
