Yahoo Improves Mobile Search Experience, but Only in the US

Recommended Posts

In an attempt to further strengthen its presence in the mobile environment, Yahoo has just announced it has improved the mobile search experience in the United States.

According to Yahoo, the new improvements should offer people the most releveant info on places and things they care about at first glance.

“We know when you’re on the go, you’re often searching for a specific piece of information. So rather than delivering endless links for you to sift through on a small screen, we beautifully assemble the most relevant information in a way that allows you to take action right away,” explains Andrew Poon, Vice President, Product Management, Yahoo.

For example, when you're looking for a place to go out to dinner, you will get directions to the restaurant, but you will also be able to check out some of the reviews other visitors left for that locations.

In addition, you can make reservations without having to search any further. The most relevant images, videos and new will be delivered to you with just one click.

Set Yahoo to be your default search engine

Those who want to take advantage of the new mobile search experience, you must set Yahoo as your default search on your mobile browser.

If you're on Android, you should go to Chrome / Settings / Search Engine and select Yahoo. If iOS is your favorite platform then you should head over to Safari and tap Settings / Safari / Search Engine and select Yahoo.

Moreover, if you don't use either of the two mobile browser mentioned earlier, then you can set Yahoo as your default on other mobile browsers manually through the app settings.

“Yahoo has served as your guide to the web, and we’re thrilled to reach this milestone in our efforts to bring you the best search experience possible. We look forward to continuing to learn from and with you as we work hard to make it even better,” concluded Poon.
