The Ups and Downs of Hot Girls Wanted

Hot Girls Wanted is a porn documentary and docuseries that was produced in part by celebrity Rashida Jones. The documentary caused an uproar from sex workers and pornstars because they thought that the producers went in there with a biased view and were determined to prove that pornstars were being exploited, while most pornstars feel the exact opposite. They love their jobs and enjoy performing! So, the producers decided to make a new docuseries where they would take a more level view on things, and allow the stories themselves to unfold. Even Rashida allegedly admitted in an interview online that the whole thing has been a big learning experience for her.

Both the documentary and docuseries do succeed in giving viewers an inside look at what it might be like to be in the porn industry. Each episode focuses on a different topic like pornstars, cam girls and others who are in the sex trade. However, one pornstar who was featured is claiming that the producers did not hold up their end of the deal. Gia Paige, a 5 foot 2 inch tall sweetie, was in one of the episodes. She said that there was a segment where Gia was encouraged to discuss her family. The segment made her feel uncomfortable and she asked the producers to take it out. They allegedly agreed to do it, but not in writing and they ultimately left it in. The segment featured footage of both her first and middle name (the real ones), and someone took the initiative to look her up and send her family and found them, and has been sending her family pictures of Paige’s work in the mail. However, since Gia had signed the releases, the producers admit that they were in their legal rights.

In addition, two other performers say that the producers took videos from their social media profiles and put them in the docuseries without permission, and they didn’t even know they were going to be in the doc until it aired, which is also in the producers legal purview because of “fair use” legislation, but the girls aren’t happy about it. The girls, two cam performers, feel that the documentarians outed them as sex workers to a larger audience than their video was intended to reach, and now everyone knows.

Many people who have heard about this hubbub are pretty dissapointed. Some people are even arguing that the documentarians, who were trying to uncover non-existent exploitation in the porn industry, are the ones themselves doing the exploiting. There are good reasons why most pornstars choose to use a fake name, most of which are for protection for themselves and their families, and having her real name put in the documentary against her knowledge was probably a big shock to Gia Paige. It just goes to show that you really do have to read all the fine print before you agree to use any social media service or sign any contract.
