Samsung has reportedly made a deal with Oath - a Verizon company* - to pre-install four applications on its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones. According to Reuters, the apps in question are Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Finance, Newsroom, and Go90 mobile (a video streaming app).

Reportedly, these four apps will likely be pre-installed on all Galaxy S9 models across the US, regardless of carrier, and even on phones sold around the world. This deal will allow Oath (and Verizon) to easily deliver content, including videos, and ads to millions of Android smartphone users. Ad revenue will be split between Samsung and Verizon.

In most cases, users don't really like the idea of buying phones with too many pre-installed apps, which are often seen as bloatware. We assume (and hope) Samsung will allow Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners to uninstall the aforementioned apps if they wish to. More details on this should be announced later this week - we'll update this article once new and relevant information is available.

* - Verizon created Oath in 2017 by merging AOL with Yahoo (as you may remember, Verizon completed its acquisition of Yahoo last year).
