Get Even Developer Announces Chernobylite, An Upcoming Survival Horror Game Set in Chernobyl

Get Even developer The Farm 51 announced Chernobylite, a survival horror game set in the aftermath of Chernobyl’s 1986 disaster.

Not much is known about the game except the following brief from the official Facebook page.

"April 26th 1986, 1:23 AM Ukrainian time. Exactly at this date and time the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe has started. The melted core of the burning Reactor No. 4 mixed with the other chemical substances to create a highly radioactive material that hadn’t exist anywhere in the world besides Chernobyl.

And we’re going to tell you the story of Chernobylite: conspiracy, horror, survival, love, and obsession in a form of a video game.

But it’s just the beginning. We’re a game development team from Poland that has been spending a lot of time in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone gathering all data and materials required to make the ultimate survival horror experience of the Chernobyl catastrophe. We want to bring you a deep, emotional story, engaging survival and horror experience, and a visually stunning recreation of Chernobyl area achieved with detailed 3D scanning of rich game world, beautifully rendered in Unreal Engine 4."

The Farm 51 already released the Chernobyl VR Project last year for PlayStation 4 (PSVR) and Steam (HTC Vive and Oculus Rift). The studio had based this VR experience on 3D photogrammetrical scans of the locations and buildings in Chernobyl, and we understand that these are being used again in Chernobylite. There’s been no announcement yet on platforms or release date, but we’ll keep you posted when the information becomes available.

A few hours ago, The Farm 51 also indirectly confirmed via Twitter to be still working on World War 3, a multiplayer FPS co-developer with the military and arms industry. However, it is currently unknown whether the game is still planned to be released this year.
