The summer blockbuster season officially is upon us, with Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story duking it out with the summer's undisputed champ (so far), Avengers: Infinity War. But when you have dinosaurs in your cast, you always have an advantage. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will take a bite out of the box-office pie in June, and based on the early reactions to the very first screening in Madrid last night, the film's odds of success are high!

A lot of the reactions are in Spanish. There are rough translations around, but let's start here:

I laughed. I cried. I found myself genuinely scared. All that even though it was in Spanish! In my opinion if that’s not the definition of perfect visual storytelling, I don’t know what is. #FallenKingdom CONGRATS @FilmBayona

That's a wide range of emotions to cover over the course of one movie... and a bit of a surprise for what amounts to the fifth chapter in a saga. But that's encouraging! So is this:

Hours later, after seeing @JurassicWorld #FallenKingdom #ElReinoCaído twice in one day, and still being under embargo even if I don’t write about movies anymore (but I saw it twice in 12 hours, ahem ahem), I can say the 10 min standing ovation at the end was beyond well deserved.

Ten minutes of applause? What is this, Cannes? No, then people might "Boooo" the sight of a dinosaur on the screen. They'd also boo if this next Tweet really happened. I am going to attempt the Google translator on this Tweet. You will see why in a second.

According to the online translator, this person actually said, "It's going to sound like a pig but tonight I've literally had an erection at the Wizink Center watching the best film in history directed by @FilmBayona #JurassicWorld #ElReinoCaído is an authentic gem that will become part of the history of cinema."

Gross. But also, high praise! Listen, the biggest reason that we remain excited for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is because of the director. JA Bayona is responsible for some of the greatest films in our modern era, from the tearjerker A Monster Calls to the harrowing and heartwrenching The Impossible. Handing him the keys to the Jurassic Park franchise is a gift (as I called him the new Spielberg in my Impossible review), and we are very, very excited to see where he takes this sequel.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It brings their characters from Jurassic World back to the island for a rescue mission, but then shifts the action to the mainland, where villains are selling off hybrid dinosaurs as weapons. That can't go well. See how it turns out when the movie hits theaters on June 22.
