Music streaming giant Spotify has settled a class action lawsuit against them by agreeing to compensate songwriters who claimed they hadn’t been paid enough royalties from the company.

As The Guardian reports, Spotify has been pushing for the $112 million settlement since last May, following lawsuits from Camper Van Beethove’s David Lowery and singer-songwriter Melissa Ferrick, the latter of which accused the streaming service of “wholesale copyright infringement”.

$43.5 million of the settlement will go to class members, while the rest will be committed to paying ongoing royalties, with New York Judge Alison Nathan describing the figure as a “significant recovery” for those who took on Spotify.
