After recent reports pointed towards a Galaxy Note 9 announcement on August 9, tipster Ice Universe has partially backed up this claim in his most recent tweet.

Specifically, the leaker claims the South Korean giant is preparing a big unveiling event in New York City, with the date being either August 2 or August 9. Interestingly, Ice Universe does claim that this is when the smartphone will be “released” but considering the specific location, it’s likely the tipster is talking about the official reveal.

According to recent information, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will make use of a horizontal camera setup that resembled the one seen on last year’s Galaxy Note 8 in a bid to increase battery life to anywhere between 3,850mAh and 4,000mAh battery. Unlike the 2017 flagship, though, this year’s device is expected to place the fingerprint below the device in a bid to make it easier to reach while not compromising the overall battery life. Aside from these details, the design is expected to largely resemble that of the Galaxy Note 8, boasting an aluminum frame sandwiched between two glass panels, the front one of which will be home to a large, 6.4-inch display.

On the internal side of things, specs are expected to resemble those of the Galaxy S9+. This means Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 will be present inside the US variant, while the international model will feature Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 Octa. Furthermore, all of this will be coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, although 64GB and 256GB variants are also a possibility. Also, Android 8.1 Oreo is expected to ship straight out of the box, although a speedy update to Android P upon its release would be a bonus.

Lastly, completing the whole setup will be a variable-aperture lens on the rear along with a secondary telephoto lens. While, on the selfie side of things, an 8-megapixel sensor will likely be featured once again.
