Josh Brolin reveals that he actually didn't know how many Marvel heroes Thanos killed until after he watched Avengers: Infinity War. Dubbed one of the best villains in the franchise, Brolin's intergalactic villain role has oddly become a fan-favorite. Thanks to a more complex characterization and a justifiable motivation different from the usual greedy bad guy, the Mad Titan, has been both lauded and hated for the chaos that he brought to the MCU.

However, arguably the primary cause of people's hatred of him was because of how he ruthlessly killed so many beloved heroes in the franchise - most of which are just getting started with their own respective solo adventures. Now, Brolin reveals that he, apparently, didn't know just how many characters Thanos killed in Infinity War.

In an interview with USA Today while promoting Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Brolin talked about how even he was surprised at the number of heroes Thanos killed in Infinity War. As it turns out, he only found out once he actually sat down and watched the movie with Chris Hemsworth. "I was literally sitting in the theater going, 'Oh my God. Oh my God. Spider-Man just disintegrated. That’s not OK,' I looked at Hemsworth and he looked at me. He smiled and was like, ‘Your career is over,'" he said, recalling the Australian actor jokingly teasing him.

Brolin may have been talking about the simultaneous hero deaths towards the end of the film after Thanos' snapped his fingers, but there is actually one particular death that he remembers filming: choking Tom Hiddleston's Loki until his neck snapped. It makes sense considering how difficult it was for everyone involved to shoot that scene. "He had been with that character for so long. And he’s so lauded for doing it. Tom was so vulnerable at that moment. So choking him out wasn’t the most fun thing I have ever done," Brolin explained.

Despite all this, the actor is quite pleased with himself knowing that his performance as Thanos was so effective that people were actually coming at him on social media. "On Instagram people are posting things like, 'I hate you.' That’s fantastic. I’m, like, the one guy who smiles when he sees that. It’s like, 'It worked,'" he admitted.

It won't be long until Marvel fans see Brolin's Thanos back again on the big screen with Avengers 4 less than a year from hitting theaters. But at that point in time, people can expect that their beloved heroes will be back with a vengeance as Iron Man and his original Avenger pals - with the help of Captain Marvel and Ant-Man - attempt to save the universe from doom.
