The limited edition release is called 'Cherry Tree Vol. 1'

The National will release a rare vinyl of early live tracks but only their fan club members will be able to get their hands on it.

Titled, ‘Cherry Tree Vol. 1’ the release consists of early-era live performances, including ‘All the Wine,’ ‘Lucky You,’ and ‘Murder Me Rachel.’

Sharing the news on their Twitter account, the band added that it would be “shipping later this year to all Cherry Tree members.” See that tweet below, which also shows off the artwork for the release.

According to the Cherry Tree website, members of the fan club get Exclusive content, exclusive and limited edition merchandise, priority ticketing and an annual collectible vinyl, which is included in the membership. You can sign up to Cherry Tree here.

Last month, the band released the live version of their fourth studio album ‘Boxer’. Recorded at the Forest National in Brussels, Belgium, the live version of the album was previously only available via the limited edition, Record Store Day vinyl release.

Only 4,000 copies were pressed but now Spotify and Apple subscribers can hear the live album in full.

The band also performed two new tracks during a show in Šalata in Zagreb, Croatia in July. The show opened with the new track ‘Quiet Light’ before the group performed the other new slow-burning song, ‘So Far, So Fast’.

Speaking of their new album, the band told NME that it’s well beyond the halfway point of completion. According to Bryce Dessner, their eighth full-length is driven by ‘looseness’ and ‘an energy that’s evaded us in the past’.

“‘Sleep Well Beast’ still feels like it’s going somewhere – it hasn’t yet arrived completely to me,” added Aaron Dessner.

Drummer Bryan Devendor also described their next effort as a “departure record.” “It’s going to be more than just a record,” he continues. “The other material that’s accompanying it is basically inspiring the record. It’s a collaborative project. I’ve said too much already…”
