  1. Paramount Pictures has moved Terminator 6 up to Wonder Woman 1984's now-former release date at the beginning of November 2019. Warner Bros. only just moved its Wonder Woman sequel back to 2020 yesterday and even had Diana of Themyscira herself, Gal Gadot, announce the news online. This isn't the first date change for the latest Terminator movie either; Paramount had originally scheduled the film to hit theaters in July 2019, before it pushed it back from a summer to fall premiere that same year. The as-yet untitled Terminator 6 is being directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and will serve as a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Similar to David Gordon Green's Halloween (which is currently in theaters), Miller's film aims to clean up its franchise's convoluted mythology by essentially ignoring the events of the not-so-adored sequels before it (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys) and further expanding upon what are generally agreed to be the series' best entries so far. As such, Terminator 1 & 2 leads Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger are returning for the movie, with Hamilton specifically playing an older version of her iconic character Sarah Connor. Paramount has decided to bump Terminator 6 up from its previous November 15, 2019 spot to the November 1 slot that Wonder Woman 1984 only just vacated yesterday. That means the film will now face-off directly at the box office with the Charlie's Angels reboot, which Sony likewise moved to November this week, in response to Wonder Woman 1984's delay. Charlies-Angels-1970s-Logo.jpg While it's certainly possible that either Terminator 6 or Charlie's Angels will end up moving (again) over the year to come, there's also a reasonable chance that both movies will stay put where they are now. Miller's Terminator sequel is expected to return the franchise to its R-rated roots (after Salvation and Genisys earned PG-13 ratings) and, thus, will be aiming for a slightly older demographic than the Elizabeth Banks-directed Charlie's Angels reboot, which is expected to earn a PG-13 itself. Moreover, as bankable as both the Terminator and Charlie's Angels brands still are, neither one is as untouchable as they once were and need not worry about being buried at the box office by the other. As it stands, Terminator 6 and Charlie's Angels are the only films set to arrive at the very beginning of November 2019. The rest of that month is relatively full at the moment, with Sonic the Hedgehog and Kingsman 3 set to open a week after the new Terminator movie, followed by Disney's Frozen 2 two and a half weeks after that. That's (arguably) all the more reason for Terminator 6 and Charlie's Angels to simply stay exactly where they are now and get next year's November box office started with (hopefully) a bang. Terminator 6 (2019) release date: Nov 01, 2019
  2. The telecom giant lost 63,000 Fios pay TV subs during the latest financial quarter, amid continued cord-cutting. Verizon Communications on Tuesday said it lost 63,000 Fios pay TV subscribers even as it beat analyst expectations on third quarter earnings and revenue. Unveiling its latest financial results before the markets opened, Verizon saw its earnings per share come in at $1.22 on $32.6 billion in overall revenue. That beat a consensus analyst estimate call for $1.19 a share in earnings and $32.5 billion in revenue. Verizon last year reported earnings of $0.89 per share and $31.7 billion in overall revenue. The telecom giant said it lost 63,000 net pay TV subscribers for its Fios video service in the third quarter, compared with a loss of 18,000 in the year-ago period, with management reiterating that the continued loss of pay TV subscribers was due to a cord-cutting of video bundles. Overall Fios revenue came to $3 billion. The Fios service competes with cable and satellite TV. Verizon's Fios broadband service added 54,000 subscribers in the latest quarter, compared with 66,000 in the same period last year. Verizon CFO Matt Ellis during an analyst call insisted the continuing loss of pay TV subscribers has been offset by a lift in broadband subscribers as TV viewers increasingly opt for streaming services. "We'll continue to see pressure on the TV numbers, but I would expect us to continue to grow the broadband side of our business. ... If you're going to rely on OTT for your entertainment, you want to ensure you have a good broadband experience," Ellis argued. Verizon's media business saw Oath revenues fall 6.9 percent to $1.8 billion. Oath has Verizon in the content business, as it invests in live-sports mobile rights after renewing its deal with the NFL to stream games across its platforms including Yahoo! Sports.
  3. Had to roll back the DB. This software has some holes having to patch. Some data and like 200 users were lost.
  4. igning in to GTA Online this week will net you a minimum $800,000 of free in-game money. As announced by Rockstar, simply logging on to the multiplayer crime sim from now through October 15 will see $300,000 deposited into your Maze Bank account by October 22. Completing its Red Dead Redemption 2-themed Stone Hatchet and Double-Action Revolver challenges will also net you a surplus $250,000 ($250,000 paid upon completion; the same again paid next week)—while those who've already obtained both can expect two complimentary $250K instalments upon logging on in during the next seven days. Broken down, that means players can expect a minimum of $800,000 without hardly lifting a finger; and $1.3 million by completing the RDR2 tie-in challenges for the first time. Elsewhere this week, GTA Online introduces three new cars: the Karin Futo, Bollokan Prairie and the Imponte Ruiner. Here's those in order: LC56XxdRpRt6FCkfZrNAEB-650-80.jpg "The Karin Futo: A gift to a core demographic that needs nothing more than a lightweight chassis, rear wheel drive and dangerously poor traction to have some good wholesome fun." Ckh3bVbEWSjPoEQp4wpwCB-650-80.jpg "The Bollokan Prairie: Make any road your own personal Autobahn with Bollokan's first and only production car—a compact, 2 seat sedan with more doors than safety features." cBEbYmZPwYadcgwifsMYBB-650-80.jpg "The Imponte Ruiner: What happened in the 80's stays in the 80's. Unless what happened is a little slice of quad-exhaust, side-striped, T-top heaven—in which case break out the big hair and the trickle-down economics, because we're going to town." Nightclub earnings are doubled this week too, and all four recently remixed Adversary Modes are subject to double money and experience. This includes Hunting Pack, Running Back, Sumo and Trading Places—the latter of which I had fun with at launch. My pick of this week's vehicle discounts is the Ocelot Swinger. At 30 percent less its full price, it comes in at. Nightclub Add-Ons and Renovations for 25 percent off, on the other hand, mark my favourite property savings. You gotta hit me with those lazer beams.
  5. HyperReuts' Evolvation bills itself as "a class based and fast paced multiplayer arena space flying shooter with multiple game modes which can be played solo and team-based." Until earlier this week, not many people had heard of it. Yesterday evening, a peak of 172,870 concurrent players caused its servers to buckle. And it all started with a misclick. As reported by Eurogamer, HyperReuts inadvertently deactivated a host of the game's Steam keys in a bid to combat codes being sold illegally online. In an update posted on October 1, the dev acknowledged the "mistake" after selecting to "ban key options". From there, Evolvation was hit with a number of negative Steam reviews from disgruntled players, and, after three failed attempts at obtaining new Steam keys from Valve, the dev was eventually advised to run the game as free to play on a temporary basis. The fact that Evolvation is now free, but doesn't contain microtransactions or any other form of monetisation, means the two-person dev team isn't currently making money—even considering its 170,000+ player influx. Likewise, its servers aren't designed to cope with such numbers, and have buckled under the pressure. "Concurrent logins are exploding!" explained HyperReuts earlier today. "My server is not made for 180K people logging in at the same time so the servers are overloaded. You will encounter issues like not be able to log in (or long login times). And if you are logged in you probably cannot see any spaceships since they are loaded from the database. "I am sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime we are upgrading the servers but we cannot act in a matter of hours. We hope this is fixed within 24 hours! I also expect a lot less concurrent logins at that time. I do not have the money (or receiving any) to setup a server which is able to process 180K concurrent requests. So bear with me and try the game in a couple of days." At the time of writing, SteamDB says Evolvation has 34,118 concurrent players. Here's hoping players do continue to give the space shooter in a chance in the coming days—and if the server issues have settled, I for one hope HyperReuts can make a bit of cash after the whole ordeal.
  6. This year's TwitchCon event, taking place later this month, will feature some major action on the esports front, headlined by the Grand Finals of the Fortnite Fall Skirmish. Ninja, Shroud, CouRage, and DrLupo will also lead teams in the Black Ops 4 "Blackout" Doritos Bowl competition, and "the biggest Playerunknown's Battlegrounds streamers" will square off against each other in the $300,000 Broadcaster Royale PUBG tournament. Attendees will have the opportunity to check out the new Black Desert Online expansion, Drieghan, enjoy "frights, delights, and fun surprises" in the Fortnite Hall, play Magic: The Gathering – Arena, try out an AR take on World of Tanks, and play new demos for Total War: Warhammer 2 and Total War: Three Kingdoms from Sega and Creative Assembly. Games Done Quick will also be making its first-ever TwitchCon appearance, with a 50-hour speedrunning marathon called GDQ Express. But it's the big finish to the Fortnite Fall Skirmish that has to be the major attraction this time around, with top players and "influencers" doing battle for a share of a $10 million prize pool. The Grand Finals will run over the full three days of TwitchCon, and will of course be broadcast live on Twitch. TwitchCon 2018 runs October 26-28 in San Jose, California. The full schedule of events and ticket purchase links are available at twitchcon.com.

  25. SAINT-QUENTIN-en-YVELINES, France — Some things in life you cannot simulate until you experience the real thing. The unmistakeable rush of adrenaline coursing through a golfer’s body while standing on the first tee at a Ryder Cup is one of those things. It’s like an NFL player about to run through the stadium tunnel onto the field for a Super Bowl feeling like he’s going to pop out of his skin. There isn’t a golf tournament in the world — not the Masters, US Open, British Open nor PGA Championship — that can match the intensity and intimidation the players fortunate enough to experience it feel on the first tee at a Ryder Cup. And for this week’s matches, which begin Friday at Le Golf National, that rush figures to pack an even more powerful punch because the grandstands behind the first tee are, by far, the largest in the history of the event, fitting some 7,000 fans. “I think it’s going to be one of the most amazing experiences in any sport being on that first tee,’’ European captain Thomas Bjorn said. “I still remember my first shot, who I was playing with, what club I hit,’’ U.S. captain Jim Furyk, a veteran of nine Ryder Cups as a player, said. “I hit a 3-wood at Valderrama so far … it might be the longest 3-wood I’ve ever hit to this day. I outdrove everyone in my group by 20 yards, and I was by far the shortest guy in the group. “I was just so jacked up and flushed it … I mean, it went forever. I hit like three less clubs into the green than I had all week (in the practice rounds). I think I flipped a wedge in there (to the green). I was shocked. “Yeah, the club feels light and sometimes you don’t remember the swing very well because you were nervous, but that’s the spot that every one of these guys on both sides want to be in.’’ Spaniard Jon Rahm, one of five rookies on the European side, said he “can’t explain what that first tee is going to be like.’’ “The only time I’ve seen stands this big is in a football stadium,’’ he said. “I’ve had people that have experienced great things in golf tell me that a final tee time in a major is a two out of 10 compared to the first tee in a Ryder Cup.’’ Patrick Reed said when he first looked at the enormous grandstands behind the first tee “I looked up and felt like I kept looking up and up and up.’’ “There’s going to be so many people that are sitting in there, it’s going to be an unbelievable atmosphere,’’ Reed said. “There’s nothing like the first tee at a Ryder Cup.’’ Reed vividly recalled his first Ryder Cup tee shot, in 2014 at Gleneagles in Scotland. “That was the worst tee shot I’ve hit in both my Ryder Cups,’’ he said. “I step up on the tee and my adrenaline is just through the roof and I look around and I feel like all the air has just gotten sucked out of the room when they announced us to hit.’’ Reed popped the tee shot up and had 3-iron into the green while his playing partners had 9-irons and pitching wedges in. Reed’s pop-up, however, was nothing compared to the infield fly Webb Simpson delivered off his 3-wood in 2014 at Gleneagles. Simpson claimed it went 205 yards, but that might be an overstatement. The first question Simpson fielded on Wednesday in his press conference was about that shot. “Are you referring to the pop-up?’’ Simpson said with a smile. “Probably the most nerve-racking tee shot I’ve ever hit was in 2014,’’ Jordan Spieth said of his first shot at Gleneagles as a rookie in ’14. “I didn’t know what all the fuss was about,’’ Rory McIlroy said of his first Ryder Cup in 2010 in Wales. “I thought it was this team event that really doesn’t matter in the big scheme of things. I was more concerned about individual titles and all that. (But) once I got on to that first tee on Friday morning, I thought, ‘Oh, this is a little different than I expected.’ “It’s nerve-racking. I’m sure Friday morning it will be no different. It’s a huge grandstand. Playing a practice round (Tuesday) there was basically no people in it and I still got goose bumps looking at it and thinking, ‘On Friday, this thing is going to be packed.’’’ European rookie Tommy Fleetwood said, “The No. 1 thing I’ve pictured since the Ryder Cup kind of became a goal is that first tee shot.’’ “The grandstand is pretty big, there’s no denying that,’’ Fleetwood said. “As nerve-racking as it is and whatever those feelings are, everybody wants that in their life. I’ve thought about it plenty, but nothing prepares you for the real thing.’’
