  1. Amazon has the PlayStation Now - 12-month Membership on sale today for $59.99. That saves you $40 off its regular price, which has only ever been discounted this low back during Black Friday 2017. That's a pretty amazing deal as a one-month subscription would generally cost you $20. If you have any intention of paying monthly for this service, you should really purchase this instead, otherwise you'd spend $240 over the course of a year instead of this one-time $60 payment. This deal is for a digital code which will be made available to your Amazon account immediately after purchase, so you can start playing instantly. PlayStation Now gives PlayStation gamers the ability to play over 750 PS2, PS3 and PS4 games on their PlayStation 4 console or PC, with the option to either stream or download. New titles appear every month, so you'll always have something new to play. Many PlayStation-exclusive games are included too, such as Bloodborne, The Last of Us, Uncharted, and God of War. You don't need PlayStation Plus to start using PlayStation Now on your account, though it would unlock online multiplayer and many other features. Right now, you can save $15 on a one-year membership and grab 12 months for $45.
  2. Best answer: Google CEO Sundar Pichai specifically mentioned Pixel phones when speaking of Stadia's supported platforms, but that doesn't mean it won't see a wider release on more Android phones. How do we know if it will come to all Android phones? We don't know for sure, but it's a solid guess that it will come to a lot of them. At Google's GDC 2019 keynote, company CEO Sundar Pichai said, "With Google, your games will be immediately discoverable by 2 billion people on a Chrome browser, Chromebook, Chromecast, Pixel device. And we have plans to support more browsers and platforms over time." Though he did not mention other Android phones by name, it's within reason that any smartphone with a decent LTE or Wi-Fi connection should be able to use Stadia, lest Google shut out a large portion of the market. What about iPhones and iPads? It's unclear right now how Stadia will be distributed on phones — whether it will be a discrete app, or more of an experience within the Chrome browser. If it's the former you can bet that Google will offer an iOS version, as it does almost every other app. If it's Chrome-based, as it is on Chromebooks and Chromecast, it won't work on iOS devices, since the Chrome version available on iOS uses Apple's Safari engine and excludes Google's specific optimizations. What about tablets? Google notes that Stadia will be available on "select phones and tablets." Again, these were not mentioned by name, but the Assassin's Creed Odyssey demo at GDC 2019 was seen running on a Pixel Slate. You may also see Stadia come to other Google-branded tablets like the Nexus. What's a cheap way to use Stadia without buying an expensive phone or tablet? If you have a smart television like nearly half of all American households, you can pick up the latest Chromecast Ultra and start streaming games to your television once Stadia is available in your region.
  3. Included with the version 51 update. Back in 2016, Opera created a VPN app that allowed you to get unlimited private internet browsing for free. The app was shut down in 2017, and now as part of the version 51 update for the Opera Browser, that VPN functionality is built right into it. Turning on the VPN is as easy as tapping the new VPN icon at the top left of the browser and toggling it on. Once the VPN is enabled, you can rest easy knowing that your activity is secure when connected to public Wi-Fi networks at coffee shops, airports, etc. The VPN feature is completely free to use, doesn't log/store any of your data, and since it's built into Opera Browser, it means you no longer need a dedicated VPN app on your phone. This functionality is available with the version 51 update that's rolling out to the Google Play Store now.
  4. Google is getting into game streaming. The company today revealed Stadia, the evolution of its efforts to make digital, on-demand video games reliable and viable. It'll be available this year in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. Google dropped the news during an hour-long showcase at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Google's plans for its streaming service bring the industry's "Netflix for games" promises to life. Ideally, it will allow folks to play any game on any connected device -- think Devil May Cry 5 on your iPhone, Dead Cells on your smart TV or Apex Legends on a Mac. Stadia will be able to stream games in 4K, 60FPS and HDR color at launch, but eventually it'll support up to 8K. However, it's also much more than that. More connection means more consumerism, and Stadia will allow developers to sell their games in new ways, including directly via YouTube and Twitch live streams. For example, load up a trailer for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey on YouTube and, at the end, click the "Play" button and the game will load in as little as five seconds in your Chrome browser, ready to play. That's all it'll take. Stadia's Crowd Play feature allows people watching a YouTube livestream to jump in line and actually join that streamer's game. State Share, meanwhile, lets folks to send links to specific sections of a game, and their friends can then simply click and play from there in the Chrome browser.

  6. Last month a 19-year-old bug was discovered in WinRAR, the software many PC users use to extract .zip and other files on their computer. While the company was quick to patch the bug, that match requires users to update their software in order to be safe — and a lot of people haven’t yet. Here’s the deal according to WinRAR: To users who are not interested in an upgrade or who don’t find a localized version of WinRAR 5.70 yet, win.rar GmbH’s advice is to delete the UNACEV2.DLL file from their current WinRAR version to be reliably protected again. All users of WinRAR 5.10 or any newer version can find the UNACEV2.DLL file in the WinRAR program folder. WinRAR users of versions older than 5.10, can find the UNACEV2.DLL file in the Formats subfolder of the WinRAR program. According to McAfee, there are more than 100 unique exploits that can occur thanks to the bug, including one where hackers can extract a malicious file onto your computer’s startup folder that will automatically run the next time the computer is rebooted. Not ideal. Luckily, there’s a quick and easy way to protect yourself against the bug and all the nefarious things that potentially come along with it: just update the software. You want to have WinRAR version 5.70. You can find it here. If you’re a WinRAR user make sure yours is up to date now!

  11. Google’s third-party iOS keyboard, Gboard, now supports Google Translate. The feature has been available in the Android version of the keyboard since 2017, and can be accessed either by tapping on the Google Translate icon in the suggestion bar, or via the Google button. The update’s patch notes say that “all the languages supported by Google Translate” are available, which at the time of writing includes 103 languages. You can either select between these languages manually, or have the software attempt to detect it automatically. Gboard’s last major iOS update added haptic feedback for the keyboard; another feature that’s not available with the built-in iOS keyboard. Meanwhile, its Android version was recently updated with support for better offline voice dictation, although the feature is currently only available for English-speaking Pixel owners.
