  1. One of the best features of Google Chrome is its built-in PDF Viewer. It removes the need for third-party PDF viewer apps, which adds to the level of convenience. But what if Chrome PDF Viewer stops working? Here, we'll go over all of the issues that you may be experiencing, as well as how to fix them. Before Getting Started: Reset Google Chrome Before you attempt more complicated solutions, try and reset Chrome. It takes little to no time and it might fix your problems. Here is how you do it: Open Google Chrome. Click the three dots placed in the top right corner of the browser. Select Settings. Open the Advanced menu. Select Reset and clean up from the left menu bar. Under Reset and clean up, click Restore settings to their original defaults. Select the Reset settings button. While resetting Chrome doesn't affect your bookmarks or saved passwords, it will remove all pinned tabs, browsing data, and cookies. Also, this will disable all of your browser extensions, so you'll need to re-enable them. RELATED: Shady Google Chrome Extensions You Should Uninstall ASAP How to Fix When Chrome Won't Load PDFs Instead of opening the PDF file, Chrome PDF Viewer might display a black screen similar to the one that appears when a PDF is loading. If this is the case, you might have a poor internet connection, or there is an incompatible third-party extension. Before changing Chrome's settings, check your internet connection. If it's not the internet connection causing the issues, you have to check if you have an extension that stops Chrome PDF Viewer from opening PDFs. To check for a faulty extension, switch to Incognito Mode. To open it, click the three dots placed in the top-right corner and select New incognito window. Or, simply press Ctrl + Shift +N. If you can view PDFs while using Incognito mode, the problem is caused by one of your extensions. To find out which extension is causing you trouble, turn off all extensions and then enable them one by one. You can find your list of extensions here: Select the three dots in the top right corner of the browser. Click More tools > Extensions. From here, you can see your list of active extensions. Toggle the extension's switch on or off to enable or disable the extension. Select Remove to get rid of the extension entirely. Use the Clean Up Tool If you can't open PDFs even if you are using Incognito mode, hidden malware might be causing issues. Luckily, Chrome comes with a malware detection and removal tool for these cases. Here is how you can use the cleanup tool: Open a new tab. Type "chrome://settings/cleanup" into the URL bar, and press Enter. Click the Find button to start the scan. Once the process is complete, try to open a PDF file using Chrome in normal mode. How to Fix a PDF That Doesn't Render Properly Sometimes, Chrome's PDF viewer might have difficulties when it comes to rendering PDF files. Opened PDFs might have odd-looking text, missing images, or even laggy scrolling. These problems might be caused by an outdated Chrome version. While Chrome updates itself automatically, you can start an update manually. Follow these steps to do so: Open the Chrome menu by clicking the three dots in the top-right corner. Click Help. Select About Google Chrome. If there is an available update, Chrome will install it automatically. Clear Your Cache If the opened PDFs are still looking odd, you might have to clear the browser's cached data and cookies. Your web cache might be the reason Chrome has difficulties rendering PDFs, especially if the cache is corrupted. Here is how you can delete all locally-cached data: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete to open Chrome's Clear browsing data window. Select the Basic tab. For Time Range, select All time. Check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. Select the Clear data button. Note: This will delete all browser cookies. Make sure you know the login credentials for all the sites you are using. RELATED: What Is The Best Free Password Manager? Turn Off Hardware Acceleration The PDFs' unusual appearance could also be caused by incompatibilities between the Chrome PDF Viewer and your video drivers. While hardware acceleration is a default feature for Chrome, stopping it might fix the rendering issues. Here is how you can do that: Open the Chrome menu by clicking the three dots in the top-right corner. Click Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Advanced. Under System, turn off the button for Use hardware acceleration when available. While turning off hardware acceleration fixes the rendering problems, it might slow down performance when viewing web content. It's a good idea to turn it back on after you complete your task involving the PDF. How to Prevent Chrome From Downloading PDFs Instead of Opening Them This might be the most common issue with Chrome's PDF viewer. And it's definitely the most annoying when you want to preview the PDF's content before downloading it. Chrome comes with a built-in setting that will download PDFs instead of previewing them. This setting is generally disabled by default, but there is a chance you have unknowingly enabled it or a third-party app changed its status. To fix this, you need to disable PDF downloads. Here is how you can do it: Open the Chrome menu by clicking the three dots in the top-right corner. Click Settings. Open the Privacy and security menu. Select Site Settings. Scroll down and click Additional content settings. Click PDF documents. Turn off the button for Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome. Even if you turn off PDF downloads, there will still be cases when Chrome will download the PDF instead of opening it. This happens if the URL hosting the PDF has the Content-Disposition header set to Attachment. In other words, these PDFs are instructed from the server-side to download, and there is not much that you can do about it. Fix Chrome PDF Viewer and Get Back to Work Don't let any issues with Chrome PDF viewer slow down your work. The solutions mentioned in this article can help you solve this error, letting you go back to viewing PDFs without any hiccups.
  2. If you use Google Chrome, chances are that you also use Gmail, YouTube, and Google Drive. If so, signing in separately to all of these online services (and any other sites you frequent) on all your devices can be a hassle. But when you sync your sign-in information and other browsing data, you can simultaneously access your bookmarks, passwords, and history on your phone, tablet, and PC. This creates a unified, connected, and seamless user experience, no matter what device you're using. What to Expect When You Turn on Sync in Google Chrome When you turn on sync in Google Chrome, the following will happen across your devices. You can see and manage your synced information on all your devices, such as your bookmarks, history, open tabs, passwords, autofill info, etc. You will sign in automatically to Gmail, YouTube, and other Google services. You will stay signed in if you were signed in before turning on sync. If you sign in on a new device (e.g., if you get a new PC or use another laptop) you will be able to recover or access your synced data. If you turn on web and app activity, your Chrome history will be used to personalize your experiences across other Google services. If you do not wish to sync all your data, Google Chrome still allows you to pick and choose which data to synchronize. How to Manage What You Sync on Google Chrome on Desktop If you want to manage your synched data on Chrome for desktop, follow these steps: Go to Chrome. Tap on the three dots button in the top right corner of the screen, and click on Settings. Under You and Google, click on Sync and Google services. Under Sync, click on Manage what you sync. Select Sync everything to sync all your data. Alternately, select Customize sync to select specific items to sync. If you choose Customize Sync, you can turn off items you do not wish to sync, such as apps, bookmarks, extensions, history, settings, theme, reading list, open tabs, passwords, addresses, phone numbers, and more. Click on the back arrow button to return to Sync and Google services. Scroll down and click on Review your synced data to view your preferences. If you want, select Encryption for added security. From there, you can choose how you'd like to encrypt your data. Once finished, close the window and exit to save your changes. RELATED:How To Sync Firefox And Chrome: Bookmarks, Passwords, And More How to Manage What You Sync on Google Chrome on Mobile Do the following to manage what you sync on Google Chrome on Android: Go to Chrome. Tap on the triple dots button in the top right corner of the screen, and select Settings. Tap Sync and Google Services just below your account name and email address. Turn on Sync your Chrome data under Manage your Google Account. Tap Manage sync. Turn off Sync everything. Image Gallery (3 Images) On the revealed list, uncheck items you do not wish to sync. You can uncheck autofill, bookmarks, credit cards, and addresses using Google Pay, history, passwords, open tabs, and settings. And voilà, you're all set! Note that if bad actors gain access to your synced devices, they can access all your connected Google accounts without needing to sign in, such as your Gmail, Google Pay, etc. Keep this in mind before syncing your data. Before You Turn on Sync for Your Devices... Make sure to only turn on sync on devices you own or use. If you own an Android device and happen to lose it, you can use Google Find My Device to remotely find and lock your device. This can help protect your synced accounts. To be on the safe side, you can protect your most sensitive accounts by excluding them from sync using the steps we outlined above.
  3. Have you ever Googled something and thought, "the people watching my search history are going to scratch their heads at this one!" Whether that's a serious concern, or a part of your life that you've decided not to think about, you don't have to think about it any more thanks to Xayn. Xayn is a decentralized, privacy-first web browser that keeps your data on your device, rather than poring over it like other search engine providers do. What Is Xayn? Xayn is a privacy-focused web browser downloadable on Apple and Android devices. The company plans on rolling out premium and enterprise price tiers with additional features but for now, it's all free. Download: Xayn for iOS | Android (Free) How Does Xayn Work? The search engine is powered by AI-run algorithms just like any search engine. However, Xayn processes your data on your device instead of online. Further, the search engine is based on end-to-end encryption and decentralized networks so Xayn isn't collecting, analyzing, or selling your data like other search engines. RELATED:Google Chrome Knows Too Much About You: Here's What To Do To be clear, your searches still inform the AI that makes Xayn work (that is, unless you turn this feature off). It works by using a process called "federated encryption." Essentially, Xayn knows what is being searched, but it doesn't know who is searching. Think of it like a cook filling an order: the cook knows what the table ordered, but not who ordered what. Further, if the cook is asked to recommend a meal (a fresh query from a new user) the cook can make a safe recommendation for the new user based on what everyone else has ordered—and enjoyed or sent back—all without knowing who anyone is. To learn more about how Xayn works under the hood, you can visit its developer's page and check out its code on GitHub. How to Get Started Using Xayn When you first install Xayn, there is virtually no setup. You don't need to submit an email or even sign up with a profile. The default setting for your homepage is a search bar and a (refreshingly well-rounded) news feed. However, you can opt to make the home page display just a search bar or just a news feed if you'd like. Image Gallery (2 Images) The toolbar across the bottom of the home screen lets you navigate all of Xayn. Or, at least, all of the front-end. The five buttons on the home screen toolbar are: The home icon, to bring you back to your homepage The stacked icon, for navigating tab groups The magnifying glass icon, to open a new search The book icon, for navigating your "collections" and announcements from Xayn The gear icon, to access your settings Meanwhile, the search feature consists of four key icons: The globe, for searching web pages or entering URLs The image, for image searches The video player, for searching videos The newspaper, for searching news stories These icons appear at the top of the home screen no matter what layout you've chosen for Xayn. If you have the news feed-only configuration, you can access the search bar by selecting the magnifying glass icon from the toolbar across the bottom of the screen. Tap the brain in the upper right corner of the search page to toggle Xayn's AI on and off. With AI on, you get better results and help Xayn's algorithms learn. With the AI off, you get an added level of privacy but might not get the best results. How to Use Xayn's Personalization Features Because Xayn starts off knowing nothing about you, you can gradually personalize the home screen and the search results as you go. Swipe right on an item, and you'll see a few different options. Tapping the thumbs-up icon tells Xayn that you'd like to see more of that type of article, while the other two icons let you bookmark or share the article. Image Gallery (3 Images) You can also swipe left on an article that you didn't like seeing. Here, you can give it a thumbs-down, and open an optional settings menu to tell Xayn what you didn't like about the article (whether it was the topic or the publisher that you didn't like). All other personalization options are in the setting menu, accessed from the gear icon on the main toolbar. From here, most of the options are pretty straightforward for anyone familiar with search engines. You can turn cookies and tracking on and off, manage your cache settings, change your language, and more. Image Gallery (3 Images) Your search history is also easy to navigate from the search page, which is accessed through the magnifying glass icon on the main toolbar. Below the search bar, you can see your recent searches, as well as view or clear your entire search history. RELATED:Privacy Vs. Anonymity Vs. Security: Why They Don't All Mean The Same Thing Search Privately With Xayn In addition to its decentralized and privacy-first nature, Xayn is a very user-friendly search engine. This is largely because the platform offers such a simplistic interface. It doesn't hold your photos and documents, connect you with friends and coworkers, or give you directions to the nearest restaurant. Xayn tells you what you want to know, and it doesn't ask for information that it doesn't need. What more can a person ask from a search engine?
  4. A tiny percentage of people still use Windows XP, even though support for it ended all the way back in 2014. While you should make every effort to jump from this ancient Windows version as soon as you can, if you still have to use the platform for some reason, you might wonder which web browsers for Windows XP still work. Even when Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP, most popular software continued to support it for some time. That's no longer the case, as no modern browsers for Windows XP exist now. Let's take a look at every major web browser to see what the best browser for Windows XP users is. Stop Using Internet Explorer for Windows XP The most recent version of Internet Explorer available on Windows XP is Internet Explorer 8. IE 8 is wildly outdated, and Microsoft hasn't supported it since the end of Windows XP's life. Not only is IE 8 already an outdated browser without modern features and performance, but it hasn't received any security patches since April 2014 either. Even if you have to use Windows XP for some reason, you shouldn't use Internet Explorer anymore. Most modern websites will let you know that they don't work properly—or at all—with IE 8. And of course, Microsoft wants you to upgrade to Windows 10 and use Microsoft Edge. You should also avoid browsers that use Internet Explorer's rendering engine. For example, old versions of Maxthon and Avant Browser act as shells around Internet Explorer. They provide a different interface but are vulnerable to the same security bugs as Internet Explorer. Don't Use Google Chrome on Windows XP Either While Chrome supported Windows XP past April 2014, the popular browser's time on the aged OS is up as well. Google dropped Chrome support for Windows XP in April 2016. The latest version of Google Chrome that runs on Windows XP is 49. For comparison, the current version for Windows 10 at the time of writing is 90. Of course, this last version of Chrome will still continue to work. You can't use any of the newest features of Chrome, however. More importantly, this outdated copy of Chrome won't receive security updates. Chrome 49 from April 2016 is better than IE 8 from 2014, but it's still not safe to use. It's only a matter of time before attackers blow a huge hole into this version, and Google won't fix it. Firefox on Windows XP Is Insecure Too Firefox was a supported browser on Windows XP for longer than Chrome, but Firefox's time on Windows XP has reached its end too. Mozilla's end of life date for Firefox on Windows XP was June 2018. Firefox users on Windows XP were automatically upgraded to the extended support release (ESR) version. This is a slower-moving branch of Firefox that waits longer to add new features than the normal branch. Thus, Firefox 52.9.0esr is the final edition of Firefox to hit Windows XP. It won't see any future updates, including security patches. Again, using an XP browser that was last updated in June 2018 is better than one last patched in April 2016, but both are insecure. What About Opera for Windows XP? While Opera doesn't enjoy as big of a market share as Chrome or Firefox, it provides a great alternative to Chrome. It's available on Windows XP, but is it still supported? In 2016, the Opera team confirmed that Opera 36 is the final version of the browser available for Windows XP (the current version is 76 as of this writing). Since Opera is now based on Chrome, Opera 36 conforms to Chrome 49. Opera has claimed that it will still update XP users with security patches from newer versions. However, there seems to be no sign that this is still the case, so you should consider Opera 36 an outdated browser. Because of this, we recommend that you avoid Opera as well. Its latest version is years old and there's no indication that it still gets security patches. You also won't be able to enjoy the coolest Opera features on Windows XP. Other Notable Windows XP Browsers We've covered the major browsers, but what about lesser-known options that might support Windows XP? Though it might seem obvious, for completion's sake we should mention two silly-sounding choices. First, though Safari was once available for Windows, Apple discontinued it long ago. If you still somehow have Safari installed on Windows XP, you shouldn't use it as it's extremely outdated and insecure. Second, Microsoft's replacement for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, is not available for Windows XP. Even though the new Chromium-based edition of Edge is available on macOS and mobile devices, there's no way to use Edge on Windows XP. Most alternative browsers have dropped support for Windows XP as well. Pale Moon, a Firefox fork, dropped support for XP in 2016. Slimjet, a lesser-known but speedy browser, currently offers version 30 for modern platforms but only supports version 10 for XP users. Only version 1.0 of Vivaldi supports Windows XP. Maxthon is one other browser for Windows XP that enjoyed support for some time. However, it's also left XP users behind as the newest version supported on Windows XP is from 2017. While you might not be familiar with this Chinese browser, it packs a lot of handy features like a night mode, built-in screenshot tool, and a notebook. However, it's still unsupported for Windows XP users. You may find other fringe browsers that still support Windows XP. However, you should avoid these. Little-known browsers with small teams behind them offer less guarantee of security or quality, and it's nearly impossible to call a browser on an ancient operating system truly secure anyway. But I Need Internet Explorer! Some people still need an old version of Internet Explorer to connect to certain websites. For example, you might use an internal business website that requires an outdated version of IE. If you must use Internet Explorer for some tasks, don't use it for everything—open it only to use that specific website. For everything else, use another browser. You can also install the IE Tab Chrome extension, which lets you render pages using IE inside Chrome. Configure IE Tab to always load that old website in an Internet Explorer frame inside your browser and you won't have to worry about opening and closing IE. However, this tool is not free and still requires using an outdated version of Chrome for Windows XP. You could also try changing your user agent to trick a site into thinking that you're using IE. However, this won't work for sites that actually require you to use Internet Explorer. What Is the Best Browser for Windows XP? Unfortunately, the Windows XP browser scene is essentially dead. You have no real options: Internet Explorer is completely dead and you should avoid it at all costs. Chrome's latest browser for Windows XP is from April 2016, so you shouldn't use that either. Firefox dropped support for Windows XP in June 2018. Opera has been silent about supposed XP security patch support and hasn't updated its XP browser for years either. Maxthon hasn't received an update for Windows XP since September 2017. If you really have to use Windows XP, Firefox is the "most secure" XP browser since it was updated most recently. However, this doesn't mean it's a good option. You are not safe running Windows XP because the OS hasn't received security patches since April 2014. Make every effort to upgrade to a modern operating system as soon as you can. Once you move, you can still recreate some of the Windows XP experience on your new platform.
  5. A news release published by the New Jersey government web portal indicates that the cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius has been sent a cease and desist order from the New Jersey Bureau of Securities. Furthermore, the Texas State Securities Board has ordered Celsius to appear at a hearing and is also threatening with a cease and desist. Regulators are not taking too kindly to platforms that offer high-yield interest rates on various cryptocurrencies. New Jersey Regulators Send Cease & Desist to Celsius Over ‘Earn Rewards Accounts’ U.S. regulators from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), politicians, and securities watchdogs from single states have targeted centralized exchanges, decentralized finance (defi), and more specifically platforms that offer yields. In recent times, Blockfi had issues with regulators in New Jersey and Vermont, Texas, Alabama, and Kentucky. The state watchdogs had problems with the firm’s Blockfi Interest Accounts (BIA). Even Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong had words to say about the SEC threatening to sue the Nasdaq-listed firm. Now a newly published cease and desist order from New Jersey Bureau of Securities (NJBOS) chief Christopher Gerold is targeting the cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius. Similar to Blockfi, the Celsius Network says that it offers up to 13% APY on cryptocurrency assets. NJBOS Gives Celsius Until October, Texas Hearing Scheduled for February 2022 “Put your crypto to work and earn on your coins, paid out every Monday,” the web portal details. Similar to the complaints filed with Blockfi, Gerold and the NJBOS say the “order is to protect the investing public.” “The Celsius Earn Rewards accounts are not registered with the Bureau or any other securities regulatory authority,” the cease and desist order stresses. Therefore, these accounts Celsius offers are “not protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).” The order adds: [A] lack of a protective scheme or regulatory oversight subjects Celsius investors to additional risks not borne by investors who maintain assets with most SIPC-member broker-dealers, banks and savings associations, and credit unions. According to the NJBOS filing, Celsius must stop soliciting New Jersey customers by October. In the order stemming from the Texas State Securities Board (TSSB) the regulator says the firm is “not licensed as a Money Service Business in Texas.” The Celsius Earn Accounts are “also not protected by Securities Investor Protection Corporation, otherwise known as the SIPC.” Interestingly, Texas has given Celsius a hearing date that’s much further away and will be held on February 14, 2022.
  6. The deadline for cryptocurrency exchanges to meet the requirements to continue operations under new crypto regulations in South Korea is rapidly approaching. A total of 28 cryptocurrency exchanges have reportedly been cleared by the regulators to remain open. However, only four crypto exchanges have met the requirements to offer trading in Korean won. 28 Cryptocurrency Exchanges Meet Regulatory Requirements South Korea’s financial authorities have released a list of 28 cryptocurrency exchanges that have met the regulatory requirements to stay open past Sept. 24 under the country’s new crypto regulations. The amended Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information requires cryptocurrency exchanges to obtain Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification by Sept. 24 and report to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), a division of the Financial Services Commission (FSC). Crypto exchanges that fail to do so must cease operations by Sept. 24. Jeon Yo-seop, head of FIU’s Planning and Coordination Office, explained that given the approaching deadline: It is unlikely that there will be additional certified virtual asset trading platforms. The 28 exchanges that have been ISMS-certified include Gopax, Upbit, Korbit, Coinone, Bithumb, Hanbitco, Casherest, Tennten, Dove Wallet, Flybit, Gdak, Aprobit, Huobi, Coin&coin, Probit, Borabit, Coredax, and Okbit. However, in order for crypto exchanges to offer trading in Korean won (KRW), they must also partner with banks to offer customers real-name verification deposit/withdrawal accounts. So far, only the country’s top four crypto exchanges — Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit — have been able to secure partnerships with banks, which have been reluctant to partner with crypto exchanges due to risks including money laundering. Crypto businesses that do not have banking partners to provide real-name verification deposit/withdrawal accounts must terminate the trading in the KRW market even if they have received ISMS certification. That means 24 out of the 28 exchanges will be crypto-only exchanges. Financial authorities in South Korea have also distributed business closure guidelines to the cryptocurrency industry. Exchanges must notify users of the expected closing date and how they can withdraw their funds at least seven days before the closing date. They must also provide a window of at least 30 days from the closing date to allow users to withdraw their funds. Korean authorities are also reportedly monitoring crypto exchanges that are likely to shut down to ensure they return funds to customers.
  7. Central Bank of Russia is now working with commercial banks in order to delay payments made to digital asset exchanges. The move aims to limit “emotional” cryptocurrency purchases made by “unqualified” Russian investors, a CBR official revealed. The move is likely to affect peer-to-peer and over-the-counter trading platforms. Central Bank of Russia Skeptical of Cryptocurrency Investments Bank of Russia remains skeptical about the acquisition of cryptocurrencies and will not support increasing access to crypto markets for Russian investors, most of whom are not accredited, the bank’s Deputy Chairman Sergei Shvetsov stated this week, quoted by Prime business news agency. Speaking at the “Banks of Russia – XXI Century” international banking forum, the high-ranking official elaborated: When it comes to buying [cryptocurrency] for investment purposes, we are skeptical about this idea. We believe it’s different from traditional assets, it’s highly risky and has signs of a pyramid scheme. Shvetsov reiterated the central bank’s “clear position” that the only means of payment in the Russian Federation is the “ruble in all its forms and not some kind of monetary surrogates or foreign currencies.” The financial authority is preparing to launch a digital ruble prototype by the end of the year and it hopes the CBDC will help curb the use of cryptocurrencies in Russia. During the event in Sochi, Shvetsov said the Bank of Russia is cooperating with commercial banks in order to delay payments sent to cryptocurrency exchanges. The CBR recently recommended banks block cards and wallets used to transact with crypto exchangers. The goal is to limit chances for impulsive purchases of crypto assets, the regulator’s deputy head remarked. Quoted by RIA Novosti, the banker stated: We are starting to work with the banking system so that it slows down payments in favor of exchange offices and cryptocurrency exchanges, fencing off opportunities for emotional purchases of this kind of products. Sergei Shvetsov noted that despite some governments taking steps to legalize cryptocurrencies, concerns persist that this type of monetary system could collapse completely. “There is a high probability that, as a high-tech financial pyramid, all this can fall down to zero,” he warned, adding that there may be hundreds of reasons why this could happen. “From our point of view, this is a large minefield,” the central bank’s official stressed. CBR Restrictions to Violate Russians’ Rights, Legal Expert Says Shvetsov’s comments have raised other concerns, however — those of people involved in the Russian crypto space. The very talk of imposing restrictions sends an extremely negative signal and the consequences could be catastrophic for the country’s crypto market, Nikita Zuborev, senior analyst at the popular exchange aggregator Bestchange.ru, told Forklog. He also warned: The most affected segment will be OTC trading with registration in the Russian Federation – exchange offices and users of P2P platforms. Miners will also be forced to look for workarounds to keep farms in operation, selling the mined coins for rubles will be problematic. According to Andrey Tugarin, Managing Partner at GMT Legal, limiting bona fide transactions for the purchase of cryptocurrencies would be illegal. “The current law ‘On Digital Financial Assets’ allows every citizen of the Russian Federation to own digital currency, which is bitcoin, buy or sell it and use it as an investment. And this right applies regardless of whether the buyer is a qualified investor or not,” Tugarin emphasized. The good news right now is that in the past few weeks, Exmo, a popular cryptocurrency exchange in the region, has not registered any decline in the volume of deposits made by Russian users. In fact, Russian trades on the platform have actually increased during the recent market correction, revealed Maria Stankevich, Exmo’s chief business development officer.
  8. On September 17, 2021, Solana protocol fans were introduced to the launch of the Wormhole Network’s ethereum – solana bridge, which means assets between each chain can be intermingled. The launch announcement notes that Saber, the Solana-fueled protocol with more than $4 billion total-value locked (TVL), will support migration from Wormhole V1 to V2. Wormhole Launches Ethereum – Solana Bridge Solana has risen 5,504% in value during the last year and today, solana (SOL) is a top ten crypto-asset holding the seventh largest position in terms of market capitalization. At the time of writing, the overall solana (SOL) market valuation is $48.4 billion and there’s a circulating supply of 296,830,872 SOL, according to Coingecko data. On Friday, the Wormhole Network announced the launch of the Wormhole Token Bridge. “Today we’re incredibly excited to announce the launch of our Wormhole Token Bridge starting with Ethereum and Solana,” the Wormhole Network’s Twitter account said. “First up – migration of assets from the soon to be unsupported Wormhole V1 to Wormhole V2 will be available. V1 users will be able to simply exchange their assets for V2 assets at a 1-to-1 rate on wormholebridge.com.” “The liquidity for this swap will be replenished periodically, please bear with us. There are about $250M worth of assets in Wormhole V1 to be migrated,” the Twitter thread added. In a recent report, Bitcoin.com News detailed how the growth of blockchain bridges and cross-chain capabilities have expanded a great deal. In a panel hosted by Sanctor Capital, the founder of the Yearn Finance project, Andre Cronje, emphasized the importance of cross-chain compatibility. “The whole defi wave gave a reason for people to begin interacting with different blockchains. And the more we’re interacting, the more we are realizing that there’s actually a little bit too much activity for any one chain to handle this stuff,” Cronje said. The Yearn Finance founder added: While I can’t specifically pinpoint a big bang moment, it’s a combination of the maturing of different blockchains and their defi ecosystems, and things like NFTs that are giving people more and more of a reason to interact. Solana IDOs Explode With Demand, Saber TVL Surpasses $4 Billion There’s been a lot of attention cast at Solana since its rise in value and the development that has happened over the last few months. SOL-based initial dex offerings or IDOs have exploded as projects like Matrixetf, Parrot Protocol, Solanium, Grape Protocol, Boca Chica, and more have caused significant demand. Saber has $4 billion TVL and projects like Serum, Raydium, Orca, Mango Markets, and Oxygen. Moreover, tokens like cope, step finance, maps.me, kin, and bonfida have caught the attention of SOL proponents. “Wormhole V2 assets will initially show up as NFTs in the Phantom wallet until a few upgrades to the wallet are rolled out next week,” the Wormhole Network further tweeted. “Speaking of TVL, we’re excited to announce that Saber HQ will support the migration of Wormhole V1 assets to V2 [and] move over incentives to Wormhole V2 assets. Saber has been on an absolute tear with growth since launch having just surpassed $4 Billion in TVL.” the Wormhole Network team tweetstorm concluded.
  9. Ameer and Raees Cajee, the two directors of the South African crypto-investment platform, Africrypt, are set to participate in an inquest that seeks to seal the fate of the collapsed firm. The Death Threats According to an Itweb report, the Cajee brothers — who have agreed to testify on October 19 and 20 — will only do so virtually. The report confirms that both Ameer and Raees, who have already received several death threats, were initially scheduled to appear before the inquiry in the second week of September 2021. However, this was postponed after the lawyer for the Cajee brothers requested “an extension in order to consult further with their clients.” The report also reveals that other Africrypt executives like the former compliance officer, Daniel Opperman, Wayne Naidoo (director), and Steve Miller (manager) have already given their testimony via a virtual platform. For instance, in his testimony, Opperman is reported to have told the inquiry that he only became aware of the hack into Africrypt’s system via media reports. As previously reported by Bitcoin.com News, Africrypt collapsed a few weeks after Ameer and Raees had informed investors of the hacking event. However, following Africrypt’s collapse and the directors’ disappearance, some aggrieved investors successfully applied to have the company liquidated. Africrypt’s Defence Still, in an affidavit in which he opposes the granting of the final liquidation order, Raees insists “the liquidator’s application had been taken out against the wrong company.” He even claims that clients had in fact “signed investment contracts not with Africrypt but with an entity called Raee Create Wealth.” However, as the Itweb report notes, “bank statements obtained by Tayfin Forensic Investigative Auditors revealed that all transactions made to Africrypt were moved to Raee Create Wealth.” The report adds that this evidence is now expected to appear in the forensic report on Africrypt.
