Meghan Markle’s ‘rift with dad Thomas is bigger than the Grand Canyon’

A ROYAL expert has said Meghan Markle “has created a rift with dad Thomas bigger than the Grand Canyon”.

The Duchess of Sussex is currently not speaking to her father Thomas Markle, despite his claims he texts her every day.

According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Meghan no longer trusts her dad after he revealed private and personal details about her.

Ingrid said in the Mirror: “Meghan must have known her father was sensitive. Now she has created a rift between them bigger than the Grand Canyon.

“It will take a very crafty intermediary using all their social skills to help mend this one.”

She added that it might even take Prince Harry and Meghan flying to Mexico where Thomas lives and banging on the door for the family to patch things up.

However, the royal expert added Meghan clearly has no intention of healing things at the moment.

She also added that Thomas contacting Meghan every day appears “obsessional, manic and just a bit frightening”, and would “drive the most patient person a million miles away”.

Ingrid said sometimes the easiest way to deal with a scenario like this is to “cut family out” – and Meghan isn’t the first royal to have done so.

Ingrid pointed out that Princess Diana gave her mum, Frances Shand Kydd, similar treatment after she criticised her daughter’s behaviour after her separation.

The royal biographer wrote: “The Princess refused to take her mother’s calls and returned her letters unopened.

“She told me, ‘I hate my mother. She has discussed my private situation publicly (in Hello! magazine) and I will never speak to her again.’”

Ingrid claims Princess Diana was as good as her word and severed contact.

So will Meghan make a big gesture and fly over to see her dad?

Ingrid concluded: “It won’t happen, though, and the damage is not good for the monarchy. It is not good for Meghan and it is not good for her dad.”
