“Pioneer One,” BitTorrent-Only TV Series, Continues With New Episodes

This past June “Pioneer One” broke new ground by becoming the first made-for-BitTorrent TV show, and now continues that effort with the announcement that three new episodes are scheduled to be released over the next several months.

“These three new episodes were funded entirely by the generous

donations from viewers who liked the pilot,” explains on of the show’s co-producers, Josh Bernhard. “We hope our audience will enjoy the development of Pioneer One enough to help us conclude the first season in style. We’re confident we’ll be able to replicate the success we had with the pilot and finish the job.”

Bernhard and fellow co-producer Bracey Smith are now aiming to raise $60,000 to finish the last two episodes – including a spectacular season finale.

So what’s the show about?

“A mysterious spaceship enters Earth’s atmosphere, spreading radiation over hundreds of miles of rural Montana,” reads a synopsis. “Officials are quick to bring up the possibility of a terrorist attack, specifically the detonation of a dirty bomb, but an investigation of the debris in Canada uncovers a live human being in a Soviet space suit in an unstable condition. A note handwritten in Russian found at the crash site says that the man is the child of cosmonauts living at a base on Mars.”

“Pioneer One” has been viewed over a million times and is a winner of ‘Best Drama’ at the 2010 NY Television Festival. The show relies entirely on viewer donations for the release of new episodes.
