DAVID Haye and Tony Bellew will step into the ring in a blockbuster fight tonight, but boxing fans planning on illegally streaming it have been warned.

Haye Bellew 2 is one of the biggest boxing fights of the year, with David Haye once again facing off against Tony Bellew.

The fight from the O2 is being shown live on Sky Sports Box Office, but fans tempted to illegally stream the match are being warned of the consequences.

Watching copyrighted content without permission is illegal and sharing it could land you with prosecution, large fines or even jail.

Following the Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko fight last April, one Sky customer had to pay ÂŁ5,000 after his account was linked to an illegal stream.

The stream of the Sky Box Office event, which was viewed by some 4,250 people at its peak, was broadcast on Facebook Live for free.

The Sky customer who account was linked to the stream, besides having to pay a hefty amount of legal costs, also had their account cancelled.

While there are multiple other cases of illegal streaming of content resulting in fees of up to ÂŁ45,000.

Speaking about the dangers of illegally streaming Haye Bellew, Neil Parkes from law firm Foot Anstey said: “Fans need to be aware of the illegalities of streaming.

“Despite the excitement surround the fight, those wanting to stream the fight must be aware that it is illegal to share a stream of the fight, even if you have paid to watch it.

“Many of those who have illegally shared previous fights on social media have been subject to legal action and been required to pay thousands of pounds in legal costs – don’t become one of them.”

The stream of the Joshua Klitschko fight was traced back to Craig Foster, a Sky account holder from Scarborough.

Foster said one of his friends live streamed the fight using an iPad, which was already logged into his Facebook account.

One legal letter he reportedly received warned he could face fines of up to ÂŁ85,000 if the case went to court.

Foster later agreed to pay ÂŁ5,000 in legal costs to Sky.

David Haye and Tony Bellew will reprise their rivalry in the ring tonight at the O2
Kieron Sharp, CEO of FACT, said: “Whether it’s a re-stream on social media, a piracy site, or using a device, box or stick connected to your TV, avoiding the official provider to access the fight is illegal.

“FACT is leading the way in combatting digital piracy and working with PIPCU and industry to crackdown on illegal streaming and to hold those behind them accountable for their actions.

“It is getting harder and harder to watch live sport illegally and so boxing fans should be aware that if they were planning to watch the fight this way they are breaking the law.”

While Detective Inspector Nick Court of the City of London Police’s Intellectual Property Crime Unit added: “Don’t let your eagerness to tune in make you commit a crime.

“By using illegal streaming sites you can open yourself up to several risks; some set-top boxes do not go through rigorous electrical testing and are therefore at risk of catching fire or giving electric shocks.

“By using legitimate providers these risks can easily be avoided. Watch it live, watch it legally.”

Haye Bellew will be shown on Sky Sports Box Office with coverage starting from 6pm.

Access for the fight will cost ÂŁ19.95.
