Emily Eavis rules some pretty big names out of headlining Glastonbury 2019

Emily Eavis has shot down some of the biggest rumours for Glastonbury 2019 – declaring that the festival have not booked Madonna, Fleetwood Mac or Led Zeppelin.

After a fallow year in 2018 to allow the land to recover, Glasto will return to Worthy Farm from June 26-30, 2019. The line-up is yet to be announced, but Arctic Monkeys, The Cure, ABBA, Bruce Springsteen, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney are all among the rumoured headliners.

Those names aside, organiser Emily Eavis has now ruled out three of the biggest tipped headliners. Speaking at an event in Taunton last night, fan account The Glasto Thingy report that she said that they had not booked Madonna, Fleetwood Mac or a miraculously reunited Led Zeppelin.

She also revealed that there will be more space in the south east area of the Pilton site, as well as ‘improvements’ to The Park, Arcadia and Silver Hayes.

While huge names and headliners are often released before, the first main line-up announcement is expected in March – before unwanted re-sale tickets become available in April.

The first batch of Glasto tickets went on sale last week, with coach ticket packages selling out first before general tickets sold out in just over 30 minutes.

Speaking of improvements being made to the Glasto site, Emily Eavis told NME last year: “I think [in The Park] there will be a couple of radical switches around and a bit of a re-jig. I was walking through The Park last night, it was 2 in the morning, I was looking up the hill at all the venues, and they were all banging and really going off.

“I had this idea all of sudden we could do [in The Park] that would be really radical, and thought ‘that would be really cool’. It’s not the sort of thing you could do in a year off, but two gives us a bit of time.”

Emily added: “The thing about the festival is that it’s run by the most devoted team of people, and they really put everything into it. Everyone is committed to making it as brilliant as it can be. It’s quite moving when you think about the amount of people that make it happen. I think they’ll all appreciate a break.”
