Bob Dylan’s legendary ‘Blood On The Tracks’ album is being turned into a movie

Bob Dylan’s classic 1975 album, ‘Blood on the Tracks’ is to be turned into a film by Suspiria and Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagino.

In a recent interview with The New Yorker, the director revealed that he is working on an adaptation of the legendary Dylan album, widely regarded to be one of the best of the singer’s career.

Reportedly written by Richard LaGravenese, the story will tell “a multiyear story, set in the seventies, that [LaGravenese] and Guadagnino had invented, drawing on the album’s central themes.”

LaGravenese also told the magazine more about the film’s characters. “When they’re repressing, we dramatise the repression, and what that does to them. And we dramatise what happens when you let your passions take over too much,” he added.

The news coincides with a new ‘Blood On The Tracks’ boxset release called ‘More Blood, More Tracks’ which will feature every surviving take from Dylan’s recording of the album. It is set for release on November 2.

Guadagnino’s has just completed work on his latest film, a remake of the classic horror Suspiria. Released on November 16 in the UK, the film has been scored by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. 

In a first-look review of the film Suspiria, NME wrote: “For all of its atmospheric scene-setting leading to the final act bluster, 2018’s Suspiria feels dispiritingly anonymous and indistinct, despite tantalising, fleeting flashes to the contrary, and a little, well, old hat. The greatest horror is how average it is.”
