There was once a time when, Robbie Williams freely admits, he wandered about the planet, going from one existential crisis to the next. "You know - the archetypal bullshit pop-star stuff," Williams says. "Why is it like that, the stadium and all the people and the records and the houses and the cars, and why am I so sad?" But fatherhood quickly put paid to all that. The former Take That singer's children, five-year-old Teddy and three-year-old Charlie, have helped him approach pop superstardom in the same way as others approach their own jobs - just another way to feed his family. And that mission will take the Briton all the way south to New Zealand and Australia over the next three weeks as part of his latest global tour. "The kids come and it's like, okay, it's about them - Daddy goes to work, Daddy's got a great job and let's not worry about it too much," Williams says. "Let's just go and provide for them. "So yeah - everything has changed." The 44-year-old Williams will hold 11 concerts across the Antipodes in the coming weeks, just months after cancelling Russian tour dates due to various health issues, including a mystery illness and severe back pain. In part due to his health woes and in part due to his wish to stay healthy for Teddy and Charlie, he has since converted to a vegan lifestyle. He also does yoga and pilates each day. The Stoke-on-Trent native says he's now back to his concert-nailing best, and was looking forward to finishing off his tour on a high. He'd play tracks from the entirety of his 28-year career. "It's just time I look after myself a bit better - I love my job, I want to be able to do it for a long time," Williams says. "I have something in me that wants to f*** everything up and obliterate myself, it's inside me and (something) I'm working through on a day-to-day basis. "I can either feed that wolf or not feed that wolf, and I'm choosing not to feed that wolf right now and look after myself because I like life." Williams will hold his first concert in Auckland on Wednesday, followed by Dunedin on Saturday and then nine across Australia.

Jumanji is expected to cross $900 million worldwide this weekend. That officially makes it Sony’s second-best performing movie of all time. Meanwhile, its domestic box office has just passed Spider-Man 2. Nobody could ever have expected Jumanji‘s performance to be quite so strong. The film has exceeded every expectation, continuing to perform well in spite of strong competition. It opened just a week after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but still flourished. Incredibly, positive word-of-mouth led to the film’s second weekend actually outperforming its first. By New Year’s Day, Jumanji had snagged The Last Jedi‘s top spot at the domestic box office. Worldwide performance has been just as remarkable, and by the end of January it had become Sony’s best-performing movie not starring Spider-Man. Incredibly, Deadline reports that the film is continuing to break records for Sony. The international estimate for the three-day weekend will leave Jumanji with a global box office take of $904.3 million (with a domestic total of $377.4 million). This will see it pass over Spider-Man 2 in the domestic market, and Spider-Man 3 worldwide. That’s all the more remarkable when one considers that this weekend saw the competition up the ante even more, with the release of Marvel’s record-breaking Black Panther. Sony will be absolutely delighted with these estimates; they make Jumanji Sony’s second-best performing film in both global and domestic markets. Worldwide, the film is beaten only by Skyfall (actually an MGM/Eon title, but distributed by Sony). Domestically, only the first Spider-Man film exceeds Jumanji. That’s an incredible achievement for Jumanji, making it one of Sony’s hottest properties of all time. It’s currently beating Spider-Man films, one of the most powerful franchises in the world today, and that fact has to be leaving Sony execs thrilled. The question, of course, is whether or not this success can be repeated; Sony has already greenlit a sequel. In a statement of their confidence in the film, they’re eyeing a December 2019 release date – again placing Jumanji against Star Wars. Promisingly, Jumanji writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg have signed up for the sequel. Director Jake Kasdan is also expected to return. That certainly bodes well, given that they proved to be such an effective team the first time around. Meanwhile, Jumanji‘s story is not yet over by any means. The film is performing well in Asian markets, but still has yet to release in Japan. It’s highly unlikely that the movie will ultimately break $1 billion – not with Black Panther now competing in many markets – but it will certainly continue to rake in the profits for Sony.

Filmmaker Ryan Coogler's superhero pic is shattering records in its box-office debut. Disney and Marvel Studios' Black Panther has already become the highest-grossing title in history at 33 AMC Theaters across the country, according to the mega exhibitor. Put another way, Black Panther earned more at those cinemas on Thursday evening and Friday — along with advance ticket sales for other times during the weekend — than any other movie has in an entire weekend. AMC didn't provide a list of the 33 theaters, nor a precise dollar amount for those cinemas, but noted that there were a record 83 showings on Friday at the AMC Southlake 24 in Atlanta. Owned by Chian's Dalian Wanda Group, AMC is the largest movie chain in the world, including in North America, where it operates 661 locations. Black Panther is shattering records in its box-office debut. On Friday, it took in $75.8 million for a projected domestic debut of $205-$210 million over the four-day President's Day weekend. Friday's haul included more than $25 million in Thursday night previews. The film will easily nab the top February opening of all time and could score the biggest debut ever for a superhero pic if it passes up fellow Marvel title The Avengers ($207.4 million), not accounting for inflation. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the $200 million movie stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis. The story follows T'Challa as he is sworn in as king of Wakanda, a cloaked, technologically advanced nation in Africa that's home to the exotic metal vibranium, which powers much of Black Panther's tech.
