  1. Kathryn Newton has been cast in a lead role in a drama series that has been greenlit at Netflix. The untitled series hails from Christopher Keyser, who will also executive produce along with Marc Webb. The series follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive. The series is a modern take on “The Lord of the Flies.” Newton will star as Allie, who is described as constantly living in the shadow of her older sister, Kim. Allie ultimately inspires her sister to take charge of the group and supports her during the ensuing confrontation. Newton starred as Abigail Carlson in Season 1 of “Big Little Lies” at HBO, a role she will reprise in the show’s upcoming second season. She also appeared as Claire Novak in multiple episodes of “Supernatural” and reprised that role in the “Wayward Sisters” pilot that was under consideration during pilot season at The CW. Her other notable television roles include “Halt and Catch Fire” and “Gary Unmarried.” On the film side, she is set to star in the upcoming film “Detective Pikachu” and recently appeared in critically-acclaimed films like “Lady Bird,” Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” and the hit comedy “Blockers.” Keyser previously co-created the series “Party of Five” with Amy Lippman, with the two currently working on a reboot of that series for Freeform. He most recently worked on the Amazon period drama “The Last Tycoon.” He also served as writer and executive producer on the FX series “Tyrant” and writer and co-executive producer on “Sisters.”
  2. FX has ordered a limited series based on the life of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon with Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams attached as the series leads. Based on “Fosse,” the biography written by Sam Wasson, the untitled eight-part series tells the story of the romantic and creative partnership between Fosse and Verdon. He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors, while she was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Together they changed the face of American entertainment at a perilous cost. Featuring Fosse’s choreography, the series explores the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness, and the suffering inflicted in the name of art. Production on the series is slated to begin in the fall with the show set to launch in 2019. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, Steven Levenson, and George Stelzner will executive produce, with Rockwell and Williams also executive producing. Levenson, who will serve as showrunner, wrote the premiere episode which will be directed by Kail. Nicole Fosse, daughter of Fosse and Verdon, serves as co-executive producer and oversees The Verdon Fosse Legacy. Co-producer Andy Blankenbuehler is the choreographer. “We are over the moon about this dream team we’ve assembled for this incredible series,” said Nick Grad, co-president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “Tommy, Steven, and Lin are the perfect team to tell the story of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon, and we’re so thrilled to have Sam and Michelle playing these iconic roles.” Rockwell recently won the Academy Award for best supporting actor for his performance in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” He will also star opposite Christian Bale and Amy Adams for director Adam McKay in the upcoming film “Backseat” and also in “The Best of Enemies” opposite Taraji P. Henson. His other notable film appearances include “Frost/Nixon,” “Moon,” “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” and “The Green Mile.” His role in this project will mark his first regular live-action television role. He is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment. Williams has earned four Oscar nominations throughout her career for her work in “Brokeback Mountain,” “Blue Valentine,” “My Week with Marilyn,” and “Manchester by the Sea.” She also stars opposite Tom Hardy in the Marvel film “Venom.” distributed by Sony Pictures, and was recently seen opposite Hugh Jackman in “The Greatest Showman.” Her other film credits include “Shutter Island,” “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” “Synecdoche, New York,” “I’m Not There,” and “Land of Plenty.” On television, Williams is known for playing Jen Lindley on WB’s hit drama “Dawson’s Creek.” She is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment and Bloom, Hergott, Diemer, Rosenthal, LaViolette, Feldman, Schenkman & Goodman. “Bob Fosse ignited a revolution in American dance, theater, and film,” Kail, Levenson and Miranda said in a joint statement. “But, in contrast to the well-worn myth of the visionary artist working in solitude, Fosse’s work would not have been possible without Gwen Verdon, the woman who helped to mold his style – and make him a star. We are honored to work with the incredible team at FX and Fox 21, and these two extraordinary actors, to tell the story of this remarkable couple, and the complicated, fascinating relationship between them.” Kail is a director and producer, having directed productions of Miranda’s musicals “In the Heights” and “Hamilton,” for which he received the Drama Desk Award and Tony Award for best director of a musical. He also directed the Emmy Award-winning special “Grease Live!” for Fox. Levenson won the 2017 Tony for best book of a musical for the acclaimed Broadway hit “Dear Evan Hansen.” His television credits include Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and the limited series “Wayward Pines” for Fox. Miranda is best known for creating and starring in the original cast of “Hamilton,” as well as “In the Heights.” Since the success of “Hamilton,” he has appeared on shows like “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Saturday Night Live,” and “Sesame Street,” and will star in the upcoming Disney film “Mary Poppins Returns.”
  3. Netflix has boarded “Snowpiercer,” a TV series adaptation of South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho’s hit 2013 feature film. The series will premiere on TNT in the U.S. in 2019, while Netflix will carry the show outside America and China. The futuristic action thriller series revolves around the remnants of humanity trapped inside a gigantic train after the world has become a frozen wasteland. It raises questions about class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival. Co-produced by Tomorrow Studios, Turner’s Studio T, and Korea’s CJ Entertainment, the series is executive produced by Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, as well as Scott Derrickson and Matthew O’Connor. The producing staff behind the original film — Bong, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Choi Doo-ho — have also joined the television adaptation as co-executive producers. James Hawes, director of the series, and showrunner Graeme Manson also share the role. As previously disclosed, Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Connelly and Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs star in the series, along with Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Katie McGuinness, Susan Park, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand, Roberto Urbina and Sasha Frolova. Hawes joined the show earlier this month, less than two weeks after Derrickson, the pilot’s original director, announced he would not return for reshoots. Derrickson claimed that the decision was due to the series’ new showrunner, Graeme Manson’s “radically different vision” from that of original showrunner and series creator Josh Friedman, who left the show in January.
  4. Steve McQueen isn’t afraid to defy expectations. “Widows,” a labyrinthine heist story about a group of Chicago women who have to complete a robbery put in motion by their dead husbands, sounds like a departure for the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind “12 Years a Slave” and “Hunger.” However, despite its thriller veneer, “Widows” is also concerned with poverty, prejudice, and power — issues that McQueen has addressed in previous films. It is as concerned with dramatizing the third-act caper as it is with examining how its characters criminality ties into larger urban corruption and exploitation. “It’s a genre picture,” said McQueen. “I liked the idea of going into a genre, but still having social realism involved. Chicago had all the elements that I wanted to investigate, those of race, class, religion, policing… It’s such a fertile narrative environment. It has this criminality that goes all the way back to Al Capone.” The film, with a script co-written by McQueen and “Gone Girl’s” Gillian Flynn and a cast of heavyweights that includes Viola Davis, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, and Robert Duvall, also seems more commercial than the director’s previous efforts. Though “12 Years a Slave” won an Oscar and “Shame” attracted awards buzz, McQueen’s efforts to plumb the murky depths of the soul can make for difficult viewing. But the director balks at any intimation that “Widows” is a glossier outing. “I don’t understand why it would be more commercial,” said McQueen. “Commercial means that it’s going to be successful, and I don’t have any idea if that will happen. The only thing I can control is to make a good film.” “Widows” will make its worldwide debut at the Toronto Film Festival. The annual celebration of cinema has hosted McQueen’s previous work and the director said he opted to have “Widows” unveiled in Canada because he appreciated the relaxed environment that characterizes the gathering. “Toronto is all about that excitement of going to cinema, and it’s all about the audience,” said McQueen. “It’s not snobby, it’s not exclusive, it’s for the people who go and see movies and love them and pay for popcorn.” “Widows” is based on a British mini-series from the 1980’s that has been transported to a U.S. setting. Its central team of grieving widows and desperate women is notable for being racially diverse — Cynthia Erivo and Davis are black, Michelle Rodriguez is Latina, and Elizabeth Debicki is caucasian. There are also meaty roles for actors of color such as Brian Tyree Henry and Daniel Kaluuya. Moreover, “Widows” is the rare major release to feature female heroines who get to carry the gun. McQueen said he wasn’t interested in making a statement by shattering that particular glass ceiling. He just found the desperation of these women, who must scramble to pay back a debt left by their spouses, to be relatable. “I wanted to see characters I know on screen,” said McQueen. “I wanted to investigate the emotional aspect of the situation.” Davis’ role wasn’t written specifically for an actress of color, and McQueen said he met with several actresses of all different races. But there was something that kept bringing him back to Davis. “I needed someone with gravitas, who you believe could get people to follow her,” said McQueen. “But I also needed someone who could convey a vulnerability to make the person human and not superhuman.” With “12 Years a Slave,” McQueen became the first black filmmaker to win best picture. Since that time, Barry Jenkins also won best picture for “Moonlight” and films from other black directors such as “Black Panther” and “Girls Trip” have continued to show that race is not a barrier to big box office. Yet, studies show that there’s still ground to make up in terms of diversity on screen. For instance, of the 100 top grossing films of 2016, a quarter featured no black characters, 44 lacked Asian characters and 54 failed to feature any Hispanic or Latino characters, according to a study by the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. McQueen thinks that the conversation around representation is leading to some positive change. He’s particularly pleased that Toronto and the Sundance Film Festival have committed to increasing the accreditation of underrepresented journalists by 20%. That effort is part of a corrective to statistics that demonstrate that film criticism is dominated by white males. “I’m a believer in good journalism and along with that should come a diverse array of voices,” said McQueen. “We need to encourage a multitude of perspectives.”
  5. Gary Oldman will star opposite Amy Adams in Fox’s psychological thriller “The Woman in the Window” from director Joe Wright. Tracy Letts wrote the screenplay for the movie, which will be produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. “The Woman in the Window” is based on A. J. Finn’s best-selling novel, which debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list and remains the year’s top selling adult-fiction title. The story centers on a woman who’s a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine, watching old movies, recalling happier times, and spying on her neighbors, including witnessing a crime involving a new neighboring family. Oldman will play the family patriarch. Oldman won the best actor Oscar earlier this year for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in World War II drama “Darkest Hour.” He’s attached to star with Meryl Streep in the political drama “The Laundromat.” Adams has been nominated for five Academy Awards for “Junebug” (2005), “Doubt” (2008), “The Fighter” (2010), “The Master” (2012), and “American Hustle” (2013). Fox has dated ”The Woman in the Window” for Oct. 4, 2019.
  6. Samsung has already confirmed that its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 9 will be officially introduced on August 9. However, the South Korean company didn't say anything about the phablet's availability, although unconfirmed rumors claim the Note 9 will hit the shelves on August 24. Apparently, Samsung is forced to push Note 9 on the market much earlier than we originally expected, so if you plan on getting one, you might be able to do so immediately after August 9. According to sources from Taiwan's handset supply chain, Samsung is likely to make the Note 9 available for purchase in early August. The reason behind Samsung's decision is related to the unexpectedly low Galaxy S9 sales, which sold around 30 million units in 2018 according to a report from the Chinese media. This is the lowest number of a Galaxy S family flagship since 2012, a real blow for the South Korean giant if the information is accurate. The early launch of the Galaxy Note 9 is meant to raise the hype around Samsung's flagships and cover some of the losses due to the Galaxy S9 low sales. It remains to be seen whether or not the report is accurate and which countries will get the Note 9 first.
  7. LG has finally started pushing Android 8.0 Oreo OTA update for the LG V20. The first versions to receive it are the F800L, F800K and F800S that can be found in South Korea. The update weighs in at a little over 1.6GB and its build number is V20c-JUL-06-2018. Img The changelog of the update includes: Privacy policy update. The blue light filter in "Comfort view" has been improved. 10 new levels of adjustment added. The Home touch buttons can now be hidden while using apps. New icon shapes. Improved settings layout. Each app's notifications can now be managed managed all in one place. The notification badge on the apps displays the number of new notification accordingly. Battery and performance optimizations by limiting background apps. Sony's LDAC codec is now supported for Bluetooth headsets that support it as well. Touching and holding on an app icon reveals more options. Historically, LG sends out the update to South Korea first in the form of a wide soak test, but if everything goes smoothly we can expect it to arrive in other countries pretty soon.

  12. For the second time this year, we get hold of a rumor indicating that a Marvel title is being pulled out of digital stores. Marvel Ultimate Alliance titles are currently on sale on Steam, leading players to believe that it might be happening before Activision’s license with the franchise ends and the games get discontinued. Both Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 are currently discounted by 75% on Steam, available for only 9,99EUR each. While this isn’t much to reveal a possibly pull from digital stores, this happened with past Activision titles as well, Deadpool and Transformers Devastation. Others believe that this is purely a marketing move, discounting Marvel games after SDCC. This could be the case as well, however, if you were thinking of grabbing either Marvel Ultimate Alliance or its sequel, do it now while the offer is still available. Undeniably, Marvel Ultimate Alliance looks a lot both in art style and mechanics and gameplay core with the game’s Marvel has released on mobile devices. While their mobile games have millions of players, Marvel Ultimate Alliance has 16.2 average Steam players on Steam last month, while its sequel had only 11. Back in February, rumors about a Marvel games being pulled out of digital stores were raging as well, this time for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. The game is still available on Steam even to this day though, meaning that not all rumors have a solid base behind them. However, Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite support has been ceased due to its poor performance and sales. This one comes from a credible source too, since the same guy revealed information about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and at E3 and characters coming to Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. In Marvel related news, the company has confirmed the upcoming Spiderman game for PS4 is a part of bigger and larger story and they are looking for ideas to progress that further with their own Marvel universe.
  13. Microsoft has some major news to share with us today, announcing that both Silent Hill: HD Collection and Silent Hill Homecoming will be available soon on Xbox One through the backward compatibility service. The news comes from Major Nelson’s Twitter account, where he revealed the release of Silent Hill: HD Collection and Silent Hill Homecoming to Microsoft’s backwards compatibility. Silent Hill Downpour is already available through the service, giving this franchise as well a considerable amount of titles available. Here are all the Konami titles available on Xbox One through Backward compatibility: Beat’n Groovy Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Contra Frogger Frogger 2 GYRUSS Hard Corps: Uprising Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Rocket Knight Silent Hill Homecoming Silent Hill Downpour Silent Hill: HD Collection Super Kontra What you have to do in order to play these games plus hundreds of other Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on your Xbox One is either own the old retail versions of them or buy them now. Just insert the disk and you’re more or less set to go. The most recent titles to have hit Xbox One Backward Compatibility are Dante’s Inferno, R.U.S.E, Overlord 1 and 2 and Assassin’s Creed Liberation. These aren’t the only ones though as Microsoft is adding more games frequently, making their catalog even bigger week by week. This is the second time today that hear news about Konami after the company announced a new update for Metal Gear Solid 5 as well. Lately, a fanmade Silent Hills P.T remake has been shut down by the company, however, its creator revealed that the representative expressed their desire to start working on new games again to him.
  14. It’s official, a new Metal Gear Solid 5 update has just entered the building, one year after its last one. Since Konami isn’t active in game development anymore, it doesn’t seem strange that they are working on Metal Gear Solid again, however, it surprises us. The update will let you play as Quiet in the FOB missions, tweak the difficulty of event FOB missions and new weapons. Fans wanted to play as Quiet since the release of the game and they’ll be finally able to do it with the new unexpected Metal Gear Solid 5 update. The use of Quiet isn’t only aesthetic as well since she comes with her own set of skills. Along Ocelote, you have the chance to play as Raiden as well, this time through a dedicated mod. Apart from her expertise in sniper rifles, Quiet is equipped with the ability to jump high enough to cross stories and move fast on enemy motherbases. Furthermore, she can dash and even has a stealth mechanic when she stands still long enough. 1 of 6 PreviousNext Is Quiet too overpowered for the Metal Gear Solid multiplayer FOB missions? We’ll know as soon as we get to try her for ourselves. We already knew that she is a tougher enemy than possibly anything in the game, so it makes sense for now. Additionally, the new Metal Gear Solid 5 update will let players choose the difficulty of the event FOB missions they want to partake in. Event FOB missions are played against AI so there’s no need to worry about player retaliation and you can go nuts with grabbing resource from the plundered motherbase. Last but not least, new weapons will make their way to the game with the new Metal Gear Solid update. Two sniper rifles, a dark matter generator, and an energy wall shield will be added as actively in development items to be used exclusively in FOB missions. 1 of 5 PreviousNext You can check the full patch notes on Konami’s website. 15. Tomb Raider fans can now start looking forward to the game’s release date on September 14, as Shadow of the Tomb Raider development has been announced to have reached Gold status. Gold status means that the game has now been finished in development, though there are obviously still a few bugs left. Now the top priority of Eidos Montreal is going to be bug fixing, which will likely come into the game through the Day One patch that will allow developers to fix the bugs that they missed during original development of the game. Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be the third entry in the rebooted series of Tomb Raider video games, taking Lara to yet another forgotten civilization of Mayans in order to try and avert an apocalypse that the sinister paramilitary organization of Trinity seems to want to start. Eidos Montreal says that this will be the darkest chapter in Lara’s story yet, but we don’t know what’s going to happen just yet. All of the previous Tomb Raider reboot games have been fairly consistent in what their tone is, being dark stories filled with magical devices and beings, part of Croft’s Indiana Jones-like character as she’s uncovered everything from a ghost queen with powers over the elements to a mystical source of energy capable of granting eternal life. We can likely expect a number of different things that have been in other Tomb Raider games before; mercenaries and human enemies wielding guns, most likely more mystical enemies to fight much like the zombie samurai and Byzantine soldiers from the previous two games, a crafting menu, a plot full of twists and turns, and in general a wild ride. Ever since the game was first announced we’ve learned a lot about Shadow of the Tomb Raider, ranging from our central hub location to the various ancient puzzles we’ll be seeing, and now it will all be coming together since the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider development has finally gone gold.
  16. It’s been announced that the FIFA 19 VAR, or “Video Assistant Referee”, will not be available in the game this time around. The VAR is a small screen used by referees both in FIFA and in actual soccer in order for referees to see if a penalty is actually needed. The VAR, however, is a bit of a problem in the actual game; it’s supposed to help keep the game from making bad calls, but if anything bad calls and missed penalties actually increased. The backlash against this has caused EA Sports to take the mechanic out of the upcoming game, though it might be put in other FIFA games in the future. FIFA 18 got a large amount of criticism for various development decisions designed to make the game more challenging, ranging from better goalies to changed ball physics to a variety of other things. However, there was a significant amount of backlash over this. While we don’t know if FIFA 19 will play the same way, it still doesn’t change the fact that the FIFA 19 VAR won’t be in the game either. Much like in regular sports, the computer has to keep up with a lot of different stuff at once to see if any sort of offense was committed during the game, and even with the VAR supposedly helping it, it still made a number of bad calls and even missed a lot of them. EA Sports has said that if the FIFA 19 VAR becomes a part of the real-life game to the point where it would be odd to not include it, then the mechanic would likely be re-introduced later down the road. But in the meantime, players will likely have to deal with the possibility of more missed or bad calls. FIFA 19 comes out on September 28 of this year for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
  17. Douglas Martin aka ‘FaZe Censor’ is a famous Youtube star, lately, he was dating the world’s sexiest weather girl, Yanet Garcia. Recently they broke up and that is not the catch from the news for us, what is really fascinating is the fact that the reason Martin broke up with the lovely, Yanet is that so he could have more time to play Call Of Duty. Martin is a professional video game player and recently he uploaded a video in which he revealed that he had dumped Yanet Garcia so that he can spare more time playing Call Of Duty. A great many fans may be happy to see Yenet single again but among those fans are the ones who would really find this move made by Martin to be quite passionate. The video is 10 min long in which he elaborated on why suddenly he has ended this three-year relationship, with the rising model and the TV star. Following the reveal, Garcia also gave confirmation making a Tweet that she was heartbroken by this. That said, the video this Call Of Duty Player uploaded has received more than 770,000 views. To be honest, there are a lot of mixed opinions of the audience over this but if gaming is a passion, and someone wants to pursue his or her dreams, then there is nothing that can block the path. Well, certainly not the world’s sexiest weather girl. Be that as it may, we certainly sympathize with the breakup and wish both of them good luck, in their future endeavors. Talking about Call Of Duty, Nuketown is coming back in Black Ops 4, and perhaps it would give the fans another reason to break up? Let’s hope not. With all that said, what is your take on this whole situation? Let us know in the comments below.
  18. Amy Hennig‘s Star Wars project isn’t coming back, according to the legendary Uncharted developer. She recently revealed her project is on the shelf as she heads her own way. Hennig vows to remain independent, shooting down rumors of banding together with the old Uncharted team at Naughty Dog. She confirmed that not only the game was canceled, EA killed her contract with the company. After her departure from EA, there were many rumors of her getting back together with Naughty Dog to work on the next Uncharted game. Discussing her future, Amy announced her plans of “staying independent.” At EA, a story focused Star Wars game was in development under Amy Hennig. Due to EA’s focus on live-services online multiplayer-centric games like Battlefront 2, Amy’s project is scrapped. The game is still in development though but it is redesigned to support live-services. In a recent job listing, EA mentioned its plans with the in question Star Wars game. While multiplayer redesign took place, the story remains a prime focus. Work with the Creative Director, Game Director and Lead Writer to align all connected features with the single-player narrative and gameplay into a cohesive experience Meanwhile, another Star Wars game is currently under development at Respawn Entertainment, the creators of Titanfall. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order will hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC in holiday 2019. The game was announced at E3 2018 during EA’s press conference. It was announced in a rather awkward fashion, no teaser trailer or images, not even a logo. Vince Zampella sat in the audience and announced Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order to the host of the show. It is one of the most awkward situations in E3 history, a great clip for E3 cringe compilation. Source: Edge
  19. Intel 9900K is a highly anticipated chip because for the first time there will be a chip on the market that offers 8 cores in the mainstream series. New leaks show that there will not be a single 8 core variant. The i7-9700K will also come with 8 cores but will offer a lower clock speed as compared to the i9 Intel 9900K. Coolaler revealed details regarding the upcoming 8 core chips. While the boost clock is indeed 5 GHz for the Intel 9900K, that is not the case for all cores and people might find this a bit misleading. This is not something new that is why when Intel markets CPU the company uses the word “up to”. The reality is that while the Intel 9900K is able to reach 5 GHz boost clock, that is only for 2 cores. 4 cores can reach 4.8 GHz, 6 Cores can reach 4.7 GHz and the same 4.7 GHz applies to all 8 cores. Keep in mind that this is expected if you are using consumer level cooling. This would include liquid cooling as well. If you are using exotic cooling then you might be able to get 5 GHz on all cores but at this point in time, I am not sure whether or not that would be a good idea. I don’t think it would be a smart move to pull. I for one would not take my chances keeping in mind that Intel does charge a lot of money for the extra cores and this upcoming Intel 9900K CPU is not going to be cheap. Intel has been having issues with the 10nm process and it is more than likely that the Intel 9900K will be based on the 14nm++ process. The kind of performance boost and IPC gains we will get is questionable. I am sure there will be people that will appreciate the higher core count but you have to wonder, the people that wanted to get an 8 core CPU would have already switched to AMD Ryzen. AMD Ryzen 7 offers 8 core CPUs and AMD has been offering these variants for more than a year now. While there is little that we know about the Intel 9900K, the chip will be coming out before the end of the year. For more information regarding the matter stay tuned to SegmentNext.
  20. Intel Xeon Phi started life as Intel Larrabee and to be honest, it really never took off. While there were plenty of promises from Intel regarding the chip but not many people have shown interest in the chip. Now, years later Intel has decided to give up on Xeon Phi and there are 8 models are going to be discontinued. The Intel Xeon Phi models that are no longer going to be made are the Intel Xeon Phi 7210, 7210F, 7230, 7230F, 7250, 7250F, 7290 and 7290F. Intel was going to release the next-generation Xeon Phi called “Knights Hill” which was going to be based on the 10nm process. We know that Intel has been having issues with the 10 nm process as it has been delayed plenty of times. Not only is the delay affecting the commercial side of the business but the consumer side as well. Especially if we talk about the laptop market. Intel has been unable to provide new chips and that has caused a halt in the laptop market. This has left room for AMD and plenty of laptop makers are now offering AMD Ryzen powered laptops instead. Even companies that were not going to release many variants have now introduced plenty of AMD Ryzen powered laptops. The integration of Vega graphics with the Zen core is something that gives AMD an upper hand as the graphics solution is much more powerful than the integrated graphics that Intel has to offer. The delay i the 10nm process is keeping Intel from competing with AMD head-on. AMD already has the upper hand when it comes to core count. While we know that the upcoming Intel Coffee Lake S CPUs will have 8 core variants, they are going to be based on the 14nm process. On the other hand, AMD has already released the 2000 series chips that are based on the 12nm process and has already announced that 7nm based chips will be sampled this year. While discussing regarding which process from which foundry is better, it is safe to say that Intel is lagging behind. AMD is releasing chips after chip and we are getting reports regarding upcoming chips for both desktop and laptops. These upcoming products include the 2500X and 2300X quad-core CPUs. For more news regarding the matter stay tuned to SegmentNext.
  21. AMD Ryzen 2000 has already been released but the chips that we have on the market are 8-core and 6-core variants. There is a lack of 4-core chips on the market right now and that is where the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X and 2300X come in. These chips are expected to come with 4 cores. The AMD Ryzen 5 2500X and 2300X chips will most likely be released alongside the B450 motherboards that are expected to be released later this month. While these motherboards are not officially announced by AMD, we did see a few of them from partners at Computex 2018. The AMD Ryzen 5 2500X has been leaked by Acer and it seems to be one of the chips that will be powering one of the pre-built PCs that Acer is going to release soon. The specifications of the upcoming Acer Nitro N50-100 are as follows: AMD Ryzen 5 2500X (3.60 GHz) 8GB DDR4 2666MHz SSD 256 GB + HDD 1000 GB AMD Radeon RX 580 4 GB DDR5 DVD-RW / WiFi / BT 4.2 / USB 2.0 / USB 3.1 / LAN The AMD Ryzen 5 2500X specifications reveal that the CPU has a base clock of 3.6 GHz and it would be safe to assume that the chip will be able to boost to close to 4 GHz if not more. That is what modern chips of 2018 are capable of. Other than that, the graphics card included in the system is also from AMD. The AMD RX 580 4 GB. While the 8 GB model would have been appreciated, I guess 4 GB is decent if you are playing games at 1080p. Furthermore, you do get a decent size SSD for quick boots and faster loading and you get a TB of HDD storage. This should be plenty for your games. As the core count is lower, the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X should be priced accordingly as well. With the B450 motherboards coming out, mainstream users will have plenty of options to choose from. This is not the first time that we have heard about the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X. We previously found a benchmark for the CPU that revealed decent performance. Other than that we have also talked about other chips coming out for mobile that have yet to be released or announced officially. Let us know what you think about the AMD Ryzen 5 2500X and whether or not this is something that you are interested in getting.
  22. E3 was full of big publishers and developers but 2K Games was missing from the scene. In case you don’t know, 2K Games had a booth at E3 but surprisingly they had zero games to display and the booth was instead used by the journalists to relax. It might have seemed like 2K Games are on holidays but they are not and they have much bigger plans than ever before. Talking to GamesIndustry.biz recently, Ismailer of 2K Games explained the main three main strategies they are going to work on which included bringing in new games for their portfolio, resource expansion for developing these new projects and to increase engagement so players play their games for a longer time. Ismail said: We’re looking to expand and grow our portfolio, whether it’s internally developing more products, or it’s adding more long-term partnerships to our 2K product line. That portfolio, Ismailer says, would also grow “a lot faster” if the capacity increased and “added significantly more on the development resource side. He also then went to reveal that a new IP is also in works from Firaxis which are known for their works in XCOM and Civilization. “We did Civ, then we did XCOM, and now we’re looking hopefully to add one more to that portfolio,” he said. The company is also going to give WWE 2K series a boost in investment which can play a great to bring players back to the franchise as the current interest in the franchise is very low. More investment and dedication to the franchise could also bring back the elements we once loved. I still remember playing WWE games on PS2 for countless hours which is not the case anymore. 2K Games appear to have it all planned and take it to the next level. We hope this change turns out to be good for the company and there are some games to play by 2K Games at E3 booth next year.
