  3. Anthem might be one of the most anticipated games that we saw at E3 2018 but it is a very different game from what we have seen from Bioware. Having that said, there are a couple of people that are saying that EA forced Bioware into making a multiplayer online game. Other than that there are those that think that EA might pull the plug on Bioware if Anthem is not a success. BioWare veteran James Ohlen talked about the matter and the following is what he had to say in this regard: No. The more success that a studio has, the more freedom and resources that it has, so obviously BioWare wants to have success with Anthem because that will be good for the studio as a whole. However, I think EA is looking for BioWare to be a long-term part of the company. I think EA really respects what BioWare brings to it. BioWare is a lot different than all the other aspects of its business, so, even if Anthem doesn’t do as well – and I think it’s going to be great – but if it doesn’t do gangbusters I don’t think that’s the end of BioWare. I think it will simply be a chance for BioWare to learn some lessons and apply it to the next game that comes out. EA has been pulling a couple of plugs recently, so I am not shocked that this question came up in the first place. People are concerned for the right reasons and keeping in mind the kind of classic games that Bioware has brought to the table, I doubt that fans would like the studio to close down all of a sudden. Many people have already left to work on different things and at other studios, which is bad as it is. Ohlen also talked about how EA did not force the company to make Anthem and while I am sure that EA did have some kind of part to play, it is nice to know that Bioware did have some degree of creative freedom for the project. Anthem seems to be an impressive game and I for one am interested in checking it out when it comes out in February next year. If you are interested finding out more about the game then you can check out our articles on Javelin skills, Personalization, Friendly Fire and more. Let us know what you think about the matter and whether or not you think EA would shut down Bioware if Anthem did not turn out to be a big hit.
  4. Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is one most anticipated games to release this year and developer Eidos Montreal has been revealing new details about the game. This time the developers have revealed that Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Difficulty settings for combat, puzzles, and exploration are “Independent” of each other. Recently, developer Eidos Montreal showcased some new gameplay for Shadow Of The Tomb Raider with developer commentary. During the gameplay commentary, narrative director for the upcoming game confirmed that difficulty settings in the game will be independent for combat, puzzles, and exploration. What it means is that, if players want to up the challenge in exploration without increasing combat and puzzle difficulty, they can do so. As shown in the gameplay video, increasing the exploration difficulty removes the white paint from the ledges that Lara can climb. This is an interesting and useful feature for players that want to just increase the difficulty for certain things in the Shadow of The Tomb Raider instead of increasing difficulty for everything in the game including combat and puzzles. Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is the third entry in the rebooted Tomb Raider series that sees Lara through her origin and become the Tomb Raider she is destined to be. However, the upcoming game will not only see Lara Croft becoming the Tomb Raider but, will also be the hardest game in the trilogy. This is according to game director Daniel Chayer-Bisson. This will be, I would say, the most difficult Tomb Raider of all the Tomb Raiders. That is important because this is a more experienced Lara. This is going to be bigger, it’s going to be harder, and that tomb shows the first ever puzzle you’ll solve and it’s very difficult. As for the technical aspects of the game, Eidos Montreal has noted that the game will run at native 4K/30 FPS on Xbox One X to ensure better visuals and other enhancements. Furthermore, the studio confirmed that the game will run at 60 FPS on Xbox One X but, only for the 1080p mode. Furthermore, Nvidia is collaborating with Square Enix for the PC version of the game. Nvidia announced that it is collaborating with the studios working on the title to improve the game’s performance on PC and introduce PC exclusive enhancement. What do you think of the independent Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Difficulty settings? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
  5. Intel Xeon Scalable CPU coolers have been revealed and while I have not doubt that these will get the job done, putting in the least amount of work in order to push a CPU cooler is something that I have had enough of. While I get that Intel Xeon Scalable series is for servers but these chips can also be used in workstations. Are Intel Xeon Scalable CPU coolers that are functional and look good, too much to ask for? For comparison, AMD Threadripper CPUs are also used for workstations and the coolers that we have seen from the company are not only functional but have all kinds of features like RGB. They are not only functional but they look good as well. You can check out the new Wraith Riper cooler that AMD is bringing to the table in collaboration with Cooler Master. 1 of 4 PreviousNext Intel Xeon Scalable CPU coolers have the same old industrial design that we expect from Intel and you get the same black fan with the Blue Intel sticker on top, which is just ugly. Other than that, even the wires are not covered and are exposed. I get that this is a server and workstation cooler but is a braided cable too much to ask for? It is 2018, that is pretty common these days. The Intel Xeon Scalable CPU coolers are rated at 280W which is pretty decent for a cooler provided that you do not have an issue when you look at it. AMD has taken a jab at the Intel Xeon series time and again but it seems that Intel is not going to learn and it is going to keep on doing what it has been doing for years. While this is the server and workstation space that we are talking about, things are the same on the consumer side of things as well. Intel stock coolers for consumer CPUs are just miserable as compared to the kind of coolers that AMD has to offer. Most of the coolers that AMD has to offer look pretty good. The coolers are black and come with a braided cable, so the wires are not exposed. Other than that you also get lights and RGB in some variants. These are things that the masses have appreciated a lot. Let us know what you think about the design of these Intel Xeon Scalable CPU coolers and whether or not you agree that Intel needs to step up its game.
  6. When Retro Commodore 64 Mini launched in Europe a few months back, it was a moment to rejoice for the old school gamers. This console serves as a nostalgic hardware that will really pour the heart out of those who have played games on old classic consoles. The good news for those in, US and Canada, this console will officially be available on 9th October this year. This version of the console is 50% smaller in size and has a fine quality finishing to it. When Retro Commodore 64 Mini launched in Europe it was also available to North America via imports, however, US and Canadian consumers were not exposed to such an opportunity. Now, they can rest assured because coming October, it will be in their hands. Having said that there is no doubt that this console clearly takes its inspiration from Nintendo’s NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic. For those who are unfamiliar, this Retro Commodore 64 Mini is a small version of the Commodore 64 home computer, which was a really enjoyed and loved hardware back in the 1980s. Furthermore, with this RC 64 Mini, 64 games are included which include the likes of California Games, Speedball II, Street Sports Baseball, Temple of Apshai Trilogy and Uridium and so much more. This machine comes with its own controller, has two USB ports and a classic looking keyboard. Apart from that up till now, this console has had somewhat of mixed European reviews, while most found the joystick to be a little too stiff others were concerned about the longevity it can offer with limited games. Still, for those who would want to catch a feeling of their young life or perhaps keep this one as a form of novelty, such small things might not matter. At the moment no official price has been announced for Retro Commodore 64 Mini but you can expect it to cost around, US $80. So are you an old soul? If you are then this is something you might want to get? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
  7. Sony has been ahead of its competition this generation of consoles partly due to its commitment towards first-party titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, God Of War and more. However, at E3 2018 Sony Interactive Entertainment was criticized for being more of the same and now the company has come forward and justified its E3 2018 press conference. Speaking with the Guardian, CEO of Sony Europe, Simon Rutter, explained that the reception or Sony’s E3 2018 press conference was mixed. He added that Sony Interactive Entertainment tried to inject some drama into the press conference along with trying to evoke the spirit of the games that were being showcased. The reception I think has been mixed. There was also some appreciation of what we were trying to do with the construction of the event, with some criticism as to how that actually flowed, the pacing and the logistics. For the last three years, we’ve been trying to inject a bit of drama and theatrics into the proceedings, to make it more than a simple presentation. We tried to evoke the spirit of the games. On the lack of any new first-party titles at Sony’s E3 2018 press conference, Rutter admitted that there was a clear lack of any new first-party announcements for the PlayStation 4. However, he explained that the reason for lack of new first-title announcements is a “consequence” of announcing games way early in their development. He added that reason, why these games were announced so early, is the fear of games being leaked online ahead of their official announcements which is true as many games like God Of War PS4 was leaked ahead of its announcement in 2016. Some of the coverage this year has been a bit critical of the lack of new stuff, probably a consequence of people announcing things when they are early in production. Some of that is to do with the fear of leaks, of not being able to present the title in the way that the creator wants it to be presented. But the desire [for new announcements] is met with the reality of the production timescale: how long it actually takes you to release a game. While Sony didn’t reveal any new first-party title at E3 2018 but, that doesn’t mean Sony has no first-party titles in development at Sony Bend is currently working on a new title. Sony Bend is also working on the upcoming PS4 exclusive Days Gone. What do you think of the justification from Sony Interactive Entertainment for its E3 2018 press conference? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Source: The Guardian
  8. Hearthstone has always been blasted for being overly expensive, despite being a free to play game. The passionate community has often chalked out alternatives for Blizzard to make the collectible card life easier but unsatisfactory results suggest that finding a working solution might be problematic for the developer. Thankfully, World of Warcraft is here to show the way into the holy light. According to a revised subscription page on Battle.net from earlier this month, all older expansion packs are going absolutely free for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game on a permanent basis. Blizzard was previously offering a Battle Chest that included the older content — six expansion packs to date — for a small sum. That is no longer the case. Those wanting to jump into Azeroth must now only pay the subscription fee, and purchase the latest expansion pack if interested. “Get access to World of Warcraft and every expansion through Legion with your subscription—no additional purchase required,” reads the description. This is a fantastic development for players starting out fresh because it opens up the massive lore-enriched world at an incredibly cheap price. Since the publisher has already moved forward with one game, why not adopt the same business model for the other as well? What ails Hearthstone is the random factor (RNG looting) that makes it incredibly cumbersome to grind the right cards without ensuing frustration. Just pre-ordering or purchasing the latest expansion pack does not guarantee a full or effective deck. This forces players to either spend more time playing or start purchasing card packs with real money, which still showers loot randomly. Making the older expansion packs free for Hearthstone has merit but there are a few notable things to consider beforehand. Firstly, unlike World of Warcraft, Hearthstone receives at least three expansion packs every year. In addition, cards are rotated into the Wild format — unbalanced and where everything goes — as soon as they are two years old. This brings up a new conundrum for making older expansion packs free for Hearthstone, what is the point if the cards are rotated out from the Standard format in just two years? In short, making older expansion packs free will majorly be good news for players who are into the Wild format. However, the free access will mean that those cards can be disenchanted to amass enough Arcane Dust for the creation of new ones. This will, hence, ensure a pleasant experience in the Standard format as well. Since there are three expansion packs hitting Hearthstone every year, making the older ones free would be highly disastrous for revenue generation. You cannot expect post-release content to go free just after three months or so. There would be no point in purchasing them in the first place. That being said, what Blizzard can do is set a threshold. Say, any expansion pack older than a year or two will be available for free to everyone. It goes without saying that should something like this happen, the player-base activity is going to skyrocket in Hearthstone. Blizzard has previously tried to address the long-awaited request in regard to unlocking card packs at a cheaper and quicker rate. It is about time that the developer takes a much larger and bolder step. In the meanwhile, the Boomsday Project is on its way to add another round of new cards to the ever-growing collection box in Hearthstone. The new expansion pack is scheduled to bring its band of mischievous scientists on August 7, 2018. Finally, there could not be a better time to jump into World of Warcraft. The latest expansion pack, Battle for Azeroth, is scheduled to release on August 14, 2018, with a promise to rekindle the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde.
  9. No Man’s Sky got a lot of slack of the community when it came out on PS4 in 2016. The game received criticism across the board for its lack of content and false marketing. However, it seems after two years No Man’s Sky and Hello Games have finally redeemed themselves. Numerous updates are released that made notable changes to the game. The efforts seem to be paying off as the recent Steam reviews just into “mostly positive” category. They recently touched mixed reviews earlier this month but in little over two weeks the game saw mostly positive reviews on Steam. The most recent changes introduced to No Man’s Sky included newly opened portal stargates, new biomes, deeper trading, exocraft for advanced exploration, new modes (Survival/Permadeath/Creative), base building, new missions/story, terrain manipulation, crashed/interstellar freighters, and deeper space combat. Players think Hello Games have finally earned the asking price, two years after the game came out. It shows how No Man’s Sky was announced very early on and it was a huge mistake. It needed more time to cook in the oven before Sony and Hello Games could release it to the public. Here are some of the recent reviews: I must say this game has improved a lot since it was first launched. Still has a long way to go but hopefully, with the upcoming NEXT update, it will be more and more like the game we all hoped to play. Looking forward to NEXT! This game has come a really long way. Props to the developers for not giving up on it! You got to hand it to this company for owning their mistakes and fixing what was wrong. Indeed props to the developers for not giving up on the game. Unlike, EA who threw Mass Effect Andromeda aside after community backlash, Hello Games owned up to their mistakes.
  10. Anthem is a game by Bioware and there has been a lot of hype around the game since it was announced. Bioware is owned by EA and Anthem is a different game keeping in mind what the devs have made in the past. Some speculated that EA forced Bioware to make Anthem and to make it the way it is. That does not seem to be the case according to the former narrative director of the game James Ohlen, that just left on 22nd June. Ohlen talked about this and according to him, this “conspiracy theory” is not true. The following is what he had to say in this regard: I think one of the things about BioWare has been really good at it, which has allowed it to survive for more than two decades, is taking risks and trying new and different things, He mentioned that Bioware has a history of innovation and that the company takes the front foot when it comes to taking risks. Ohlen talked about Star Wars: The Old Republic and other games to give examples and the following is what he had to say in this regard: Neverwinter Nights was quite a bit different when it came out in 2002 and obviously Star Wars: The Old Republic was quite a bit different when it came out in 2011, Ohlen stated that just because Anthem is an online multiplayer game does not mean that the focus of the studio has shifted. The same is the case with Bethesda as people think that the developer is shifting its focus due to the upcoming online multiplayer Fallout 76 that is coming out later this year. While Todd Howard has explained that there will be single player games in the future, there are people that are concerned. I guess the situation is the same here. Ohlen further went on to mention the following: The fact that BioWare is doing something different with Anthem doesn’t mean that BioWare isn’t going to do games that skew more towards the traditional style that BioWare is known for. It’s just a chance to do something a little different. It was driven by BioWare itself, the team. I know there’s a lot of the conspiracy theories that EA is the one behind it, but that’s never been the case. BioWare’s always had a lot of control over the kind of games it makes. Anthem is easily one of the most anticipated games that we saw at E3 2018 and while there are people that are comparing it to Destiny, the developers have talked about how the game will be different. While EA might have some hand in the direction of Anthem, it is nice to know that Bioware was not forced to take on the project and this reassuring statement gives us hope that Bioware has plenty of creative freedom when it comes to Anthem. Let us know what you think about Anthem and whether or not you are interested in playing the game when it comes out in February 2019.
  11. Halo Infinite Xbox Play anywhere support has been in doubts recently as the game’s page on Xbox.com didn’t list that it supports the feature which made everyone believe that the game will not be a part of the program. GameStop reached out to Microsoft recently for the confirmation and they have replied in a statement which is more confusing and will raise more questions than before as there’s no clarification whether the game will be a part of the program or not. Microsoft said: “Halo Infinite is in development for both the Xbox and Windows 10 PC. The studio is taking the time needed to make the best Halo game possible and are we will share more information about the game once we’re ready” There’s no mention if it will be present or not. It’s already known that Halo infinite is in early development phase so it’s obvious that Microsoft is not ready yet to reveal all the information for the game including the Play anywhere support feature. Microsoft Play anywhere feature gets you a free copy of the game on the other platform that being Windows 10 or Xbox One. It also supports cross-save functionality basically allowing you to play the game anywhere without spending any extra money. Halo Infinite will not release anytime soon so we can hope that Microsoft will have an answer for us down the road. Another interesting thing to know from the statement is that Microsoft hasn’t mentioned the Xbox One, instead just Xbox which has us all guessing that it might come on the next gen console. In other news, Halo infinite will not have a Battle Royale mode and it’s officially confirmed by 343 studios. The developers want to deliver an amazing single player experience for now just like the previous games in the series. Halo Infinite will also be a direct sequel to Halo 5 and it will follow the adventures of Master Chief.
  12. The Xbox Scarlet is the upcoming next-generation device that Microsoft is working on right now. Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed at E3 2018, that the team was working on architecuturing the upcoming Xbox devices and here we have some further information regarding what we could be getting when the Xbox Scarlet is released. Reports claim that there will not be one Xbox Scarlet console but two. It was also interesting that Phil Spencer used the word consoles, in plural and not singular. While that had us suspicious regarding whether there would be more than one Xbox Scarlet device, this new information strengthens that speculation. While there will be a traditional console for those that want to have the hardware available locally. New information suggests that there will be an additional streaming device that will allow you to stream games without having the full-fledged Xbox Scarlet console. Sources are calling this service Scarlett Cloud. At an all-employee meeting back in 2013, Microsoft did demo a similar service and we have been waiting for it to come out ever since. Now could be the time that we get the feature as fast internet is common as compared to before and by the time the Xbox Scarlet consoles come out, 5G technology will be out. That should help in streaming anywhere, any time. While we will be getting a traditional console there will also be a lower-powered device, that will also be shipping with the Xbox Scarlet. This device will take care of controller input, image processing and collision detection. While this is a great idea and this means that you will have the option to buy a cheaper console, if you can call it that, the downside is that it will cost you since you do need local hardware. While the price of the Xbox Scarlet streaming device will be lower than the traditional device, it will still add to the monthly subscription which I am pretty sure that Xbox will charge. While there is no release date that has been confirmed by Microsoft, it is speculated that the Xbox Scarlet will be released around 2020. If that is indeed the case then you can expect the Xbox Scarlet streaming box to come out with the traditional console. There is little that we know about the Xbox Scarlet streaming box, it is speculated that the device will cost around $99-125. This is not too much to ask and I am pretty sure that when the Xbox Scarlet console will come to market, it will cost much more than this. If I was to take a guess, keeping in mind how hardware is getting expensive, the console should cost more than $500 at launch. If it is any lower than that means that Microsoft will be taking a major hit and losing money for each console sold and in that case, the company will heavily be relying on game sales and subscriptions. One thing is safe to say, all the upcoming games will be playable on the Xbox Scarlet and the streaming device. It will be interesting to see how much of a difference in performance and graphics there will be between the two. While streaming is something that we have been waiting a long time for and there have been services that offer this feature, I expect that Microsoft will do things right, this time. We have already started hearing about games that are being developed for the next generation of consoles. An analyst has also speculated that the upcoming Xbox will be coming out before the PS5 and f that is indeed the case then that might mean that the Xbox Scarlet could come out next year. Let us know what you think about the upcoming Xbox Scarlet and whether or not you are interested in getting the upcoming streaming device.
  13. San Diego Comic-Con was a successful event especially for the fans of Spiderman PS4 as it has provided a lot of new details of the game including a new story trailer and also revealing the final pre-order bonus in the game which is none other than “Velocity”. You can check out the suit reveal trailer below which shows us all of the pre-order bonus suits in the game which are Iron Spider suit, Spider Punk suit and the final ”Velocity suit”. Velocity suit will also come with a suit power which will be similar to the term ‘velocity’. These suits are designed by an artist named Adi Granov and this is not all, as he has also designed a PS4 theme for Spiderman and you can take a sneak peak at the theme below. Spiderman PS4 is scheduled to release on September 7 and a new story trailer has also been released which shows Silver Sable as a new villain.
  14. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is undeniably one of the most intriguing titles to be released in the future. Even if the game doesn’t have a release date yet, fans have set the expectations high and the developers are delivering. According to the game’s creative writer, Beyond Good and Evil 2 narrative needs to be organic, with no excess lines and needless cinematics. Gabrielle Shrager, the famous writer of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, The Division and more is currently working on the narrative aspect of Beyond Good and Evil 2 and there is no one better for this task. During a talk with French media jeuxvideo.com, Shrager stated that “when they have too many words, it is that they have failed”, meaning that Beyond Good and Evil 2 doesn’t need too much narrative in order to be successful. Given the size and quality of its world, everything will be delivered in an organic way, rather than forcing information to players. What does this mean for the game? Shrager seems to be against too many words and needless cinematics. If you remember the narrative aspect of the Division through the “ECHO” hologram system, you can understand what she’s after. She believes that developers shouldn’t include cinematics that fans could make themselves, and let them create the story as they see it, much like what happens with the Souls series for instance. This can happen by using elements of contextualization to immerse us in their world. What Shrager focuses on when creating the narrative of Beyond Good and Evil 2 is leaving clues for players to unveil in the game, in order to make sense of its story. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be cinematics or dialogues and such, rather than keeping it to the minimum. After all, the trailers for Beyond Good and Evil 2 are extremely beautiful to pass up and even in those, you can tell that the developers try to deliver the bare minimum. Are you excited to start digging into the game’s story when it finally releases?
  15. Fortnite is going down today for maintenance and afterward, it will also bring the new 5.10 anniversary update bringing a lot of new things to the game including the Playground mode and Fortnite founders skins. Though the previous updates have been released on Thursday, unlike this one which is going to release today on July 24 by breaking the tradition but for a good reason as it’s taking place on the game’s first birthday anniversary. Epic is adding some new content to the game so the game will be down for at least an hour or two. There’s no exact time for how long it will last though. The servers will go down at 4 am EST / 8 am GMT / 1 am PST on July 24th. This new anniversary update will bring new skins and a new weapon (combat machine gun). Playground mode is also going to return after its first trial for a week which is really a fun mode to have when you are playing with your friends. The mode will now include team select options and more pieces of information will be released in the patch notes. The slurp juice after the update will now provide 75 points and prioritize HP. 16. Very recently Bluehole decided to bring in a few changes to, PUBG HQ Texture Rendering. The reason to make such changes was due to the powerful hardware inside Microsoft console. The changes brought in the more gradual loading of those HQ textures, which was an attempt to prevent the dropping of frames. However, these changes in the game seem to have not been warmly welcomed. Fortunately, the devs have taken notice yet again and are planning to bring further optimizations, in PUBG HQ Texture Rendering. In the community weekly post of PUBG, community manager Lumos wrote, “As many of our Xbox players are aware, the Xbox One X utilizes a more detailed world than the OG/S versions due to their powerful GPU for 4K resolution. Thus, X users are able to see textures in higher quality, but it also means that the X requires more resources to output these textures compared to OG and S. Because of this, it took longer to load textures, and even caused issues with dropped frames.” Addressing this issue seems to have calmed down fans, for now, furthermore explaining the improvements that have been brought in, he said, “To mitigate these types of issues and to create more fair looting and combat situations, we decided to make the rendering process to display the highest quality textures more gradual. This means buildings will load faster, allowing you to get in and start looting quickly, with the texture quality gradually increasing until it’s fully rendered at the highest quality.” Then coming to the main objective, he has assured fans that the company realizes that even such changes, have some issues and are not been welcomed by the fans and that is why Bluehole plans, to further optimize PUBG HQ Texture Rendering for Xbox One X. “The changes we made currently aren’t being liked by many of our X users. We plan to further optimize the rendering process so the higher quality textures can be rendered faster without dropping frames.” Hopefully this time it would be for the better. 17. If there is one thing that has its anticipation at its peak this very moment, it is none other than the upcoming Devil May Cry 5. Following the announcement at E3 2018, there have been quite a few details revealed, regarding this game. However, lately, the devs have been generous enough to let the fans in, on some of the most interesting details regarding Devil May Cry 5. Very recently the devs have revealed that Resident Evil 2 Remake Engine is being used to develop Devil May Cry 5. In the latest weekly issue of Famitsu, an interview with the director Hideaki Itsuno, the senior producer Michiteru Okabe alongside the producer, Matthew Walker was included. Now in the interview, a great many things about this upcoming Devil May Cry sequel have been revealed. It was revealed that the publishers and the developers have their focus set on achieving photo-realistic quality as well as, hitting a steady 60 FPS in Devil May Cry 5. Adding to that the company has also adopted new techniques, for scanning of not only 3D characters but this time their clothes as well. Why the clothes? well in order to capture every detail, obviously. Then they revealed what seems to be the real catch, the devs are using the same Resident Evil 2 Remake Engine in developing Devil May Cry. That said although most of these scans are being done overseas, the company is also utilizing its own studio based in Osaka as well. Furthermore, with most of the actors being based in London, another studio based near London is also being utilized. With all that said, this new tech is being used with the Resident Evil Remake Engine, to reap more realistic visual quality. This technique has not been used before, so we can certainly expect better results in Devil May Cry 5.
  18. Gay Tony is one of the most prominent characters in Grand Theft Auto franchise and even got a single-player DLC, The Ballad of Gay Tony, of its own in GTA IV. Now, Gay Tony is coming back to GTA V with the upcoming GTA After Hours DLC and here is when you will be able to play the DLC. While the GTA V never got any single-player DLC with Micheal, Franklin or Trevor to expand on the story that was told in the main campaign. However, Rockstar Games did release DLC for GTA Online that features story but not in traditional sense. The upcoming GTA After Hours DLC for GTA online follows in the footsteps of the already released DLC for GTA Online and here is when you can play the DLC. The GTA After Hours DLC allows for players to own a nightclub in Los Santos which opens up a lot of opportunities for players’ very own criminal enterprise. Not only that, the GTA After Hours DLC also features Solomun, Tale Of Us, Dixon and The Black Madonna in the game and it’s not just their likeness but, it is the celebrities themselves who have face-scanned and motion capped for their characters in the DLC. Aside from the characters in the game, the trailer suggests that hiring a DJ for the nightclub will also be an adventure which will involve getting into fistfights and exploding planes. Speaking of the GTA, while GTA V never got singleplayer expansions or DLC to expand the story but Rockstar Games has explained why they never released a singleplayer DLC. According to director of design Imran Sarwar, not releasing any GTA V single-player content was not a conscious decision but, it happened due to the development circumstances of the game as the next-gen version took a year of the dev team’s time. No, it was not really a conscious decision, it’s just what happened. With GTA V, the single-player game was absolutely massive and very, very complete. It was three games in one. The next-gen versions took a year of everyone’s time to get right, then the online component had a lot of potential but to come close to realizing that potential, also sucked up a lot of resources. And then there are other games – in particular Red Dead Redemption II. The combination of these three factors means for this game, we did not feel single-player expansions were either possible or necessary. The GTA After Hours DLC is available today July 24, 2018, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

  20. The current generation, similar to the previous one, has regularly discussed the pros and cons to having native mouse and keyboard support for consoles. Microsoft in particular has been teasing the feature for a few years now and if the word on the street is accurate, the Xbox One could become the first console to break that barrier later this year. According to a report from The Verge last month, Microsoft has already partnered with Razer to bring about a new lineup of peripherals specifically for the console in question. These are said to be releasing sometime this fall alongside a software update that will add official mouse and keyboard support to the Xbox One. It should be noted that the ability to connect peripherals, besides the standard controllers, has existed on consoles for a long time through unofficial third-party gadgets. These are designed to fool the system into believing that the connected peripherals are actually controllers. You may think that an already available feature becoming native will not change the current gaming environment on the console. That is not true. There are going to be a few challenges faced by Microsoft, as well as developers, once the update goes through. It will directly impact the multiplayer experience, particularly for the esports and competitive crowd, for better or worse. Here is what to expect when mouse and keyboard support finally becomes official on the Xbox One. No more optimization issues The problem with spoofing hardware is that they are not guaranteed to work with every game. Your desired mouse and keyboard support may work flawlessly with some games, while they may not with others. In some cases, the player may also be required to tweak the software before gaining sufficient control. The specific support becoming native and official on the Xbox One means that these problems are going to go away. Players will not have to worry about their peripherals gaining dust just because a particular game is being cagey. It will also open up options on the same note, allowing players to choose their weapon of choice for each game. Grim fate of third-party support Microsoft has always had the resources to block access to third-party devices and force console players to rely solely on controllers. However, it has never done so. When it does make mouse and keyboard support native in the coming months, a question rises as to whether the company will finally ban spoofing attempts. Since Microsoft has never cared for in the past, it is likely not going to do so in the future. The third-party devices are still going to function as they are right now but their popularity is going to dwindle really fast. There is no point in sticking with unofficial means that come with headaches when there is official support out there for free. That is similar to pirating games when they are being given away for free. The only thing that players will have to decide between is purchasing the overly expensive gaming peripherals or continuing with cheaper brands. Divided player-base for balance There is a significant reason why Microsoft has taken this long to come clean about giving native mouse and keyboard support on the Xbox One. The undeniable fact is that the particular peripheral-combo offers a considerable advantage over players using controllers with their additional accuracy and precision. This makes the battlefield a bit unfair, which is why many have been calling out Microsoft to ban third-party devices in the past. However, since native support is around the corner, players will no longer have a reason to continue ranting about their opponents using desktop peripherals on a console. They are completely free to join the club. This will only lead to more toxicity in online lobbies. Hence, it is completely possible that there will be separate servers for each case. Those who want to use controllers against controllers will be given their own playing field, while those siding with mice and keyboards will be given theirs. This will also open up joint opportunities for those who do not care about what peripherals are being used by the masses. Final decision rests with developers It is important to clarify that Microsoft is only adding native mouse and keyboard support on the Xbox One. The software giant is not going to enforce it on the community without a substantial reason. This is where the developers come in. They will have the final say in the matter. If they feel that their games should only be played with controllers, they will have the option to prohibit mice and keyboards. This restriction may even extend over to third-party spoofing hardware if there is enough demand from the developers. Microsoft will have to play ball here since the support it is bringing out is basically offering more control to developers over how their games need to be played. Better cross-play possibilities In contrast to Sony being a hard nut to crack, Microsoft has always shown considerable interest in bridging the player-bases of the Xbox One and PC. Once mouse and keyboard support goes native later this year, it will only push publishers and developers to unite the two communities. There were previous concerns about first-person shooters giving more advantage to mice and keyboards but that argument will cease to exist very soon. Who knows, maybe officials will take advantage of this opportunity and update their older games to allow cross-play as well. Advent of new genres There are a few genres like real-time strategy and multiplayer online battle arena that have always kept their distance from consoles. The main issue being the controls that require more than a dozen inputs, maybe even more. They also require quick, smooth, and precise selection in the midst of battle. These games are tailored made for a mouse and keyboard, which is why they have seldom been released on consoles without major adjustments. However, with the upcoming native mouse and keyboard support on the Xbox One, an entire new horizon is going to open up for the community. Imagine Riot Games porting League of Legends, Valve doing the same for Dota 2, ArenaNet bringing over Guild Wars 2, Blizzard pushing World of Warcraft and Starcraft II, Ensemble Studios heating up Age of Empires, Creative Assembly with Total War; there is so much that could be launched on the Xbox One.
  21. In addition to changing up the Call of Duty formula by adding in a Battle Royale mode and no story, Treyarch is also switching up the Black Ops 4 Zombies mode by adding in a faction system and quests that players can complete for rewards. All of this will add a new layer to the game. Normally, Call of Duty Zombies is a simple survival game, with players simply trying to see how long they can survive against hordes of zombies that increase in size and strength every wave. Later maps added in stories that you uncovered through maps, and various things you could do to get Easter Eggs. However, quests and a faction system are something entirely new. Players going into Black Ops 4 Zombies will be choosing between four different factions in the game: the Bloodfaith, the Tempus Novi, the Dustborn, and the First Legion. We don’t know very much about each of the different factions and what they stand for, but we’ll likely find out more as the game gets closer to coming out. Along with the factions, we’ve also gotten a few hints at what sorts of maps we’ll be fighting zombies in, such as the Roman-inspired IX map, the Titanic map (based on actual blueprints of the doomed passenger liner), and a third map called Blood of the Dead, though we don’t know what that map will look like yet. We don’t really have any information on the Quest system though, but it might end up tying into the multiplayer and Blackout modes and might help you be able to buy weapons and cosmetic items to use. Once again we’ll likely learn a lot more about the Black Ops 4 zombies mode as the game gets closer and closer to the release date, and hopefully all three of the game modes will end up being well-polished and fun. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 comes out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on October 12.
  22. During their E3 2018 showcase, Microsoft has revealed that they’re working on their next console, codenamed Xbox Scarlett. Analysts were already estimating that the next generation of consoles will focus on cloud gaming and it is true, for Microsoft at least. According to a recent report from Thurrott.com, Microsoft is building Xbox Scarlett to be a classic console as a continuation of hardware upgrades to Xbox One X and S. Appart from the traditional aspect of it though, the company will introduce the Scarlett Cloud to the public, which will be a project in development and will make the game streaming service a reality. An early version of such a product has been shown off as a demo game streaming at its all-employee meeting back in 2013, as the source reveals but now Microsoft is making it happen, under their new team on the project. This isn’t all though. Microsoft is also working on a second console to fill the gap between Xbox One S and Xbox Scarlett. It will be a lower-powered device that will ship alongside Scarlett, being the company’s answer to budget gaming. The company has already shown progress to making gaming more accessible to all players regarding the budget they want to spend, something they are already doing with the Xbox Game pass and Xbox Play Anywhere services. Having their new consoles played both locally and on cloud gives Microsoft the opportunity to reduce latency according to Thurrott, making Scarlett Cloud the perfect console for players that want the perfect experience in multiplayer. One last bit the reporter reveals is that Scarlett Cloud is further along in the development cycle than the traditional console that will also be released in 2020. While none of the aforementioned information has been made public yet (nor it will in the near future), everything reported makes sense. Microsoft is depending on their consoles and massive libraries of games available through services to make an impact on the “console war” and as we see it, it might actually happen.
  23. A new Destiny 2 weapon has been made available through a new anomaly that you can run in order to get a brand new weapon for the game. The weapon, called the Whisper of the Worm, is a Power Weapon, a sniper rifle in the style of the Hive that is Exotic tier. However, despite the new look, any veteran Destiny player would recognize the Whisper of the Worm as a revamped Black Spindle, a highly sought-after sniper rifle that was a popular weapon in the original Destiny game. However, like with many Exotic weapons that you can’t buy from Xur, there’s a long and convoluted way to get it. In order to get this special Destiny 2 weapon, you’ll have to head to Io, where you’ll have to search for a Taken Blight Public Event. While you’re playing that, a Taken Knight will spawn and then make a run for it. Chase him down, and if you kill him before he leaves the cave a portal will appear. Enter the portal, and you’ll find a Lost Sector and a secret area inside it, which you access by going down a hole. Follow that hole to the end, and you’ll get your special Destiny 2 weapon. However, the event will be ending today, though it will become available again next week, so if you’ve missed your chance this time you can do it quick now when it comes around again. While there’s plenty of other guns for you to hunt as you come across certain items during gameplay and come across hidden requirements, the Whisper of the Worm is one of the few that we’re actually given a good walkthrough on. If the directions that we’ve put here aren’t quite what you’re looking for, you can watch the video further up in this article to get a visual version of them.
  24. Undeniably, the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises are Bethesda’s strong spots. Even though both franchises bring more popularity and revenue to the company, that doesn’t mean that they take all other games lightly. That’s what Pete Hines believes when talking about their future release lineup. During a talk with Gamesindustry.biz, Pete Hines revealed that not all games can sell as well as Fallout and Elder Scrolls. However, that doesn’t mean that they’ll focus all their interest on those two single franchises or that they’ll try to make other ones like them. He even quoted Doom’s success when it released to prove his point which, undeniably, makes perfect sense. His statement was the following: “Yeah but lots of things don’t sell as well as Fallout and Elder Scrolls. Our belief is that we want to aim for the right goal of what we’re making and what those franchises can do. If you hold up every game as if it’s gotta do what Fallout and Skyrim did, then you’re [not] gonna make many games because very few games will do that. Like, Doom didn’t do that but Doom still sold awesome, so it’s just about what’s the right size dev team, dev cycle, size of the audience and are we doing a good job of delivering that.” What’s interesting to take from this statement is that Bethesda is aware of what their strengths are but will not take advantage of them. With Fallout 76 releasing this November and The Elder Scrolls 6 somewhen in the future, the company showed that they still have the passion to work on both franchises but they won’t let others “die” instead. With RAGE 2 and Starfield already being on Bethesda’s roadmap, we should expect the company to continue developing great games without them being foreshadowed by the “grandmasters”. Hines also went on to say that he doesn’t care how well their games will sell, as soon as they make a small progress. He said: “In general I always want everything to do more than it did. If we sold eight I wouldn’t have minded nine, if we sold 20 I don’t mind 21. There’s never a point as publisher or developer where you say we literally should stop selling copies of this. You always want more players, you wanna do better. I think we had some things that did well, I think we had things that we thought might sell better but it is what it is.” Bethesda is releasing Fallout 76 this November for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. RAGE 2 is the next release on the line, set to release early 2019 with The Elder Scrolls 6 not having a release window yet.
  25. The upcoming v5.1.0 patch in Epic Games’ famous battle royale title reveals the launch of several cool items coming to the store tomorrow. The new Fortnite cosmetics datamined from the game’s files seem to have three themes, Scuba diving, espionage and a more casual punk look. The company hasn’t made anything official, yet that doesn’t stop dataminers from getting the news to us early. There’s no information about changes on the map or new gameplay items, so the Fortnite cosmetics will have to suffice for now. As with all previous Fortnite cosmetics, these ones too come in four different rarities, which determines their overall quality. Their pictures in the store, as well as their names, have been revealed on fnbr.co. Here’s the full gallery of upcoming Fortnite cosmetics (they might not be all included in v5.1.0 patch): Epic Games is consistent with bringing new content to Fortnite regularly.
