World of Warcraft Classic, the retro re-release of WoW in its near-original state, will launch on August 27, 2019. Blizzard announced the release date alongside a nifty collector's edition, but you may not have to wait until the summer to try out the game. A closed beta is starting this week.

The closed beta will begin on May 15. Participants will be selected from a small pool of existing WoW players. Subsequent stress tests will run regularly from May through July. You can opt in through the Official Site.

Blizzard also announced a boxed Collector's Edition for World of Warcraft to ring in the game's 15th anniversary. It includes a Onyxia pin, map of Azeroth mouse pad, art prints, special anniversary mounts, and a large black-and-gold statue of Ragnaros the Firelord. It will release on October 8 for $100, and you can pre-purchase from the Blizzard store.

World of Warcraft Classic lets you play the game as it existed almost 15 years ago, upon the release of the 1.12 "Drums of War" update. Blizzard says it considers that era to be the correct balance of the game resembling its original launch state while also having ironed out some of the rough spots of launch. This version is also including some updates under the hood, like modern server infrastructure and Battle.net social features.

  3. Watching movies the best way possible

    motorola-one-vision-phone.jpg?itok=84c_I

Motorola has announced a new smartphone called the Motorola One Vision. It's available in Brazil starting today and will be introduced to Mexico, the rest of Latin America, and Europe over the next few months. While the original Motorola One is sold at retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, the Vision won't be coming to the U.S. anytime soon, if at all. That shouldn't stop you from learning more about it, especially because the Vision is doing some very new things we could see come to phones in the future.

The phone lives up to its name by making the display, which Motorola calls CinemaVision, a priority. It is a 6.3-inch LCD screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio. That's a fairly unique aspect ratio for a smartphone that makes this phone a little longer and more narrow to better suit movie watching. It also has a very minimal dot for the front-facing camera that doesn't get in the way so you can fully focus on what you're watching. The pixel resolution is 1080 x 2520 with 432 DPI.

Don't think a phone called Vision just stops with a neat display, either. On the back are two rear-facing cameras with a 48MP sensor and a 5MP sensor for specific protrait shots. Plus there's one front-facing camera with a 25MP sensor. The sensors use Motorola's Quad Pixel tech, which combines four pixels together to output high-quality 12MP photos.

The phones launch with the Android 9 Pie operating system, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, USB-C, NFC pairing, and more. Some other features include a fingerprint sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and standard smartphone stuff like accelerometers and a gyroscope. It launches in two colors including Bronze and Sapphire. Also, while it has up to 128GB of universal flash storage built in, you can add microSD cards up to 512GB for even more room.

  4. It's a pirate's life for all of us coming to virtual reality this summer!

Survios, the creators of Creed: Rise to Glory, is coming out with a new game for the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. That statement alone is enough to raise my interest because of how amazing their previous titles were between mechanics and visuals alone. I'd trust anything made by Survios to blow my mind.

So, what's this new game that we're expecting to blow our minds? It's called Battlewake. It's a high-roller and never-smooth-sailing pirate simulator full of chaotic entertainment and tons of enemies. It's time to get to the helm of your ship and become a captain— there are pirates and monsters to fight.

Just from the trailer alone, you can see a lot of what this game has to offer. There's combat, mechanics for steering your ship, mystical lands to discover, and so much more. If your heart is sailing just as much as mine is, continue on to read about everything you need to know about Battlewake.

There are 13 different weapons for your ship. All of them are fully upgradable to create the most ghastly warship you possibly can. Furthermore, there are four different Pirate Lords you can play as and each one of them comes with their very own set of powerful abilities. The magic harnessed by the Pirate Lords is capable of unleashing terrifying elemental damage or summoning monsters— like Krakens— to take out your enemies for you.

Battlewake also includes four different game modes for you to choose from. Options include single-player PvE (Player vs Everyone), cooperative multiplayer gauntlets, PvP deathmatches, and more.

  5. The Realme X is a great option for those that want a feature-rich phone for under $250.

Most Chinese manufacturers start off in their home market, and target other regions as they grow. Realme is doing things the other way around — the brand made its debut in India just under a year ago, and it has managed to gain a decent amount of market share in a short time.

The main draw with Realme is the affordability: the brand regularly undercuts Xiaomi, allowing devices like the Realme 3 Pro to pull ahead of the Redmi Note 7 Pro. With the brand gaining a lot of momentum in India, it is now making its debut in China.

Realme says the average age of its users is under 30 years, so it's focusing on a younger audience with its latest series, the Realme X. The phone features a 48MP camera at the back and a retractable front camera that allows the brand to achieve a notch-less design.

Chinese brands have taken to mechanised cameras in the last 12 months to offer a clean look at the front that isn't marred by a cutout, and the retractable camera is the new notch — every mid-range phone releasing this year will have it.

The Realme X has a 6.53-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor, with Realme stating that the module itself is faster and more reliable than first-gen sensors from last year.

Elsewhere, you'll find a Snapdragon 710, 48MP rear camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor, and a 16MP camera up front. It has a 3750mAH battery with VOOC 3.0 flash charge, and 8GB of RAM along with 128GB of internal storage.

There's also a Realme X Lite that shares a lot of the same hardware, but with a waterdrop cutout up front. The Realme X Lite is rocking a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 710, along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and a 4045mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 flash charging. Realme says the phone will charge up to 60% in just under an hour even with the screen on.

The main camera is a 16MP Sony IMX 519 sensor, and up front you get a 25MP shooter. The Realme X Lite is set to go on sale in China for 1,199 RMB ($175) for the version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, 1,299 RMB ($190) for the 6GB/64GB model, and 1,499 RMB ($220).

The Realme X, meanwhile, will go on sale for 1,499 RMB ($220) for the 4GB/64GB option, 1,599 RMB ($235) for the 6GB?64GB edition, and 1,799 RMB ($260) for the 8GB/128GB model. Sales kick off on May 20 in China, and the device will make its way to other Asian markets — including India — shortly.
