  1. Sony has laid off an undisclosed amount of staff at three of its UK developers: Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Cambridge, and SCE London Studio. VideoGamer reported that "numerous" people from each studio have been let go. In a statement, Sony said that a recent internal review triggered the need for restructuring at the studios Sony also adds that developer of delayed PlayStation 4 racer Driveclub was "unaffected" at Evolution Studios. It is not known what projects Guerrilla Cambridge or SCE London Studio were currently working on. "Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive business can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects," said Sony. "As part of this process, we have reviewed and assessed all current projects and have decided to make some changes to some of our European Studios. As a result of this, there will be a focused restructure within London Studio, Guerrilla Cambridge Studio and Evolution Studio to ensure that the SCE WWS is in the best position to achieve their goals going forward. "Our first party development studios are key to our creative strategy and we are very excited about the future projects being worked on." source:gamespot
  2. DICE has delayed the PC launch of Battlefield 4's Naval Strike DLC due to a technical issue. "We’ve detected an issue and it needs to be solved," wrote DICE on the Battlefield site. The developer is not saying when it expects to be able to launch Naval Strike on PC. The DLC will still hit Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 today. "Quality is our number one priority and we will not release Battlefield 4 Naval Strike on PC until we feel it meets the highest quality level possible," adds DICE. "Once we have a confirmed date for PC, we’ll be sure to update those players on our official channels. We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing everyone on the Battlefield." Naval Strike contains four new maps which revolve around fighting at sea, and a swishy hovercraft vehicle to zip about in. There's also the new Carrier Assault mode, which revives the Titan mode from Battlefield 2142. source:gamespot
  3. Have you ever wondered what it's like for a starlet to attend the New York City premiere of her new big-budget blockbuster? This Wednesday, you're going to get the chance. That's when Emma Watson is bringing you to the premiere of "Noah" on Wednesday, March 26 when she takes over the @MTV Twitter account. The "Bling Ring" star and recipient of last year's Trailblazer Award at the MTV Movie Awards will be tweeting from the red carpet and bringing you all of the great behind the scenes secrets. Keep track of Emma throughout her big night by following her on @MTV to see what it's really like to be the center of attention at a red carpet premiere. In the years since her time at Hogwarts as know-it-all Hermione Granger, Emma Watson has been choosing fascinating roles in movies like Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring" to launch her adult career, but it's safe to say she hasn't starred in anything quite like Darren Aronofsky's take on "Noah." Emma Watson Takes Over Our Twitter! The biblical epic depicts a world much different than the one we're used to seeing in cinematic tales from the Old Testament. This take on the story of Noah and the great flood features a number of creatures that you might not recognize as one of the friendly sets boarding the ark. Aronofsky has put his unique vision onto the screen and filled it with complex characters, like Noah's daughter-in-law Ila, played by Watson. When the leader of the last remaining humans on Earth has his morality tested by a mission from God, Ila's rule in his life is made more important than ever. Be sure to follow @MTV before March 26 when Emma Watson takes over our Twitter! "Noah" opens in theaters on March 28. source:mtv
  4. In "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Shawn Ashmore returns to the role of Bobby "Iceman" Drake for the first time since 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand." And based on the newest trailer, which featured the debut of Drake's iconic ice-slide move, fans can expect cooler Iceman action than previous films allowed. "In 'X3,' I turned into Iceman for the first time," Ashmore told MTV News in an interview earlier this month while promoting "The Following," his Fox TV series co-starring Kevin Bacon. "I had made ice-balls, and an ice-rose for Rogue at one point, but full Iceman mode [debuted in] the battle against Pyro in 'The Last Stand.' Fans can definitely look forward to more of that." Shawn Ashmore Teases The Iceman Action In 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Ashmore teases that Iceman isn't the only original X-Man getting an action upgrade, too. According to the actor, "Days of Future Past" features a grander scale than ever seen before in an "X-Men" film, both in terms of the set pieces and the storytelling. "The general scale of the storytelling is huge. It's massive. I walked onto some of the sets on the first day and it was the size of a football field. The whole set, you can interact on, like a battlefield, essentially," he said. "Now that we know these characters, we either love or hate them, depending on which side we're on. Now you can really open it up to bigger storytelling and bigger action because you understand these characters. There are higher stakes. You can put these people in danger because you care about them." The Iceman actor credits that expanded scale to the return of director Bryan Singer, the man who "started this journey." "It's nice to come back and have that same director," said Ashmore. "There's a trust. I know how important this movie is to him." If "Days of Future Past" is important to fans of Bobby Drake and Rogue's romance, however, they're going to walk away disappointed. Anna Paquin was cut from the film late last year, presumably impacting Iceman's storyline as well. "There was a storyline that had this great sequence with Rogue," he said. "Remnants of those story lines still interact with some of the other characters, so I can't give anything away." Even without Rogue, Ashmore promised that Iceman will have screen-time with other fan-favorite heroes and villains, including Ian McKellen's Magneto and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. "I've been playing Bobby for thirteen years. This is my fourth movie playing Iceman," he said. "It's amazing." "X-Men: Days of Future Past" opens on May 23. Source:mtv
  5. A new system update for the PlayStation Vita--version 3.10 for those keeping count--has quintupled the amount of applications allowed on your home screen, up from 100 to 500. Other updates include the ability to record voice messages, which can be used to whizz audio notes over to Vita and PlayStation 4 owners. March looks pretty empty for this poor guy! A new calendar application allows you to schedule events, sync with Google Calendar, and share invites with the Messages and Email applications. The update also features a tweaked Parental Controls menu, alongside the option to more easily manage content stored on your memory card. Sony has also detailed the other features that form the PlayStation Vita 3.10 system update: Music: You will now be able to search for content saved on a connected device such as a PC. Video: You’ll be able to now sort content by size. Photo: Rotate Screen Automatically has been added to Photos to control tilt sensor for rotation of image, freeform has been added to the Panoramic mode selection list. Settings: Adjust Daylight Saving Automatically has been added, and 30 minutes has been added in Enter Standby Mode Automatically. source:gamespot

  8. Mega.co.nz, the cloud storage company founded by Kim Dotcom, has announced its intention to go public with a backdoor listing on the New Zealand stock exchange. The deal, worth a cool NZ$210m ($179m), will be actioned via a reverse takeover of a local investment shell company. megaKim Dotcom isn’t known for doing things ‘small’ and that was underlined today with news that the cloud storage firm he founded last year will hit the New Zealand stock exchange. In keeping with the complex life of the entrepreneur, the plans for the listing aren’t completely straightforward. Mega.co.nz says it will achieve a backdoor listing on the New Zealand stock exchange via a reverse takeover of an existing company. Earlier this morning TRS Investments, an inactive investment company valued at NZ$2.2m (US$1.88m), said it had reached an agreement to buy Mega Ltd through a share issue to Mega shareholders. TRS will acquire the shares for NZ$210 million via the issue of 700 million new shares to the shareholders of Mega at a price of 30 cents per share. This will result in those shareholders owning a 99 percent share of TRS. Once the deal is completed, TRS will change its name to Mega. While Kim Dotcom himself is longer a director of Mega having stepped down to concentrate on his extradition battle, musical career and political party, his wife Mona owns 26.5 percent of the company. The acquisition requires TRS to obtain shareholder approval and necessary collateral on or before May 30, 2014. “The rapid global growth of Mega has generated significant interest from potential investors. Listing on the New Zealand Stock Exchange will allow investors to participate in the ongoing growth of Mega,” said Mega CEO Stephen Hall in a statement. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the deal already has its controversy, with a report this morning that Paul Choiselat, a major TRS shareholder, is facing charges of concealing his interest in listed companies and alleged market manipulation. Nevertheless, shares in TRS Investments soared to a seven year high, up 600 percent, following news of the takeover. Mega reports that since its launch in January 2013 it has signed up around seven million users and is currently bringing on board more than 20,000 new ones every day. With encrypted chat video conferencing scheduled for the second quarter, Mega has big things ahead in 2014. Torrentfreak.com
  9. Sandbox game Minecraft has been referenced in the latest music video to be released by music artist Lady Gaga. The game is a featured in a scene at the 5:20 mark of music video "G.U.Y.". In the scene, YouTube personality Adam "SkyDoesMinecraft" Dahlberg types "/gamemode ARTPOP" into a game that bears visual similarities to Minecraft. Like the name suggests, the "/gamemode" command is usually used to switch between different game modes in Minecraft. Following this scene several figures rise from coffins, one of them bearing the likeness of Michael Jackson. Minecraft recently surpassed 100 million registered users, which included 14.3 million sales of the PC version. Developer Mojang made $326 million in revenue last year, raking in $128 million in profit. Minecraft has been released for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. Versions of the game are also in development for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita, but there's no word yet on a potential Wii U or 3DS version. source:gamespot
  10. Step right up, folks! A world of marvels awaits you. "American Horror Story" is breaking out the creeps and crazies for it's very own "Freak Show." Show creator Ryan Murphy tweeted the subtitle on Monday (March 24), confirming much of the speculation. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jessica Lange will play a German ex-pat managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S., with her troupe of co-stars acting as performers whom she has rescued. Series regulars confirmed to join the side-show acts include Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Frances Conroy. Denis O'Hare and Emma Roberts are currently in talks to return. source:mtv
  11. And before they take the stage, fans will get to see an exclusive scene from "The Fault in Our Stars" during the 2014 Movie Awards Pre-Show, starting at 8:30 p.m. The 2014 MTV Movie Awards: 'The Fault In Our Stars' Teaser Woodley and Elgort join host Conan O'Brien and previously announced presenters Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton. 12. When Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" hits theaters in August many audiences will be meeting the team of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket for the first time. But there is also a colorful world of villains in the farther reaches of Marvel outer space, like Nebula, that fans get to look forward to. Ahead of the release, director James Gunn posted a fresh look at Karen Gillan's character, who he referred to as "our interplanetary Clint Eastwood," with some insight about what went into designing the deadly space warrior. "Truth is, I put her in the script largely because of her bald, cybernetic look," Gunn explained on his Facebook page. "She probably wouldn't have been a character without that." The remark came in response to a fan who asked if Gunn had considered an older Nebula design from the comics, which featured the character will a full head of black hair. "I find little enchanting about that look," Gunn said. "Charlie Wen and I worked on this design for a long time, before we ever cast anyone. We knew exactly what we wanted." Gunn also took the time to note that Gillan's look in the film was entirely practical, with no added CGI enhancements. "Those are mostly three dimensional applications not just drawn on lines," he wrote. The whole process took somewhere between four and five hours. The effect is honestly stunning. Gillan looks completely transformed, and the makeup here is a testament to the difference that practice effects can make, something that's been forgotten when anything can be rendered on a computer. Most other big-budget movies wouldn't have bothered putting a beautiful actress like Gillan through this process and would have opted for just throwing some cybernetics onto one of her eyes and insist she not cut her hair. Instead, we've got a villain that people are already excited about, simply based on a photo. Karen Gillan Promises More Fighting In 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' "Guardians of the Galaxy" opens in theaters on August 1. source:mtv
  13. The YA curse has been broken, and it was Tris and the cast of "Divergent" that made it happen. The Shailene Woodley-led adaptation has been hailed as a success in industry circles and won the box office for the weekend, but how well did it do in comparison to "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games"? Here's a closer look at the opening weekend number for "Divergent." $56 million - How much "Divergent" made in its opening weekend Here's the number you've probably seen associated with "Divergent" a lot today. This was the big number that "Divergent" hit this weekend, almost exactly on-target with what analysts had predicted. Solid, though nothing earth-shattering, but good enough to make it the second biggest opening of the year behind "The LEGO Movie." $96 million - How much more "The Hunger Games" made Summit Entertainment and its parent company Lionsgate, from the very start of "Divergent" was hoping to recreate the phenomenon that erupted out of the Jennifer Lawrence-led movie with a similarly themed adaptation starring an up-and-coming actress. Ultimately, this may have come down to the public's familiarity with "The Hunger Games" and its much more straightforward story at the time of release. $13 million - How much more "Twilight" made This is where Summit should see some good signs. The first installment in the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson vampire saga opened to the tune of $69 million all the way back in 2008. (Remember 2008?) With the next two movies in the "Divergent" series already schedule, Summit has some room to grow. 69 percent - The female portion of the audience Since this is more niche YA fair than "The Hunger Games," it's not a huge surprise that the majority of the ticket buyers this weekend were young women. Half of the total audience was younger than 25. 50 percent - The portion of the audience that had read the book Now, here's a bit of a head scratcher. Though "Divergent" and its sequel have sat at the top of the YA charts for months, half of the audiences wasn't showing up to the theater based on their love of Veronica Roth's prose. These folks watched the trailer and liked what they saw. This figure is much lower for "Divergent" than it was for "The Hunger Games," which saw 76 percent readership in its audience. "Divergent" is in theaters now. source:mtv
  14. "The Voice" contestants put on their vocal armor for another round of battles Monday night (March 24) as they continued to fight for a spot in the next level of the singing competition. Coaches Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher, and Blake Shelton sent out 12 more singers onto the battle stage to see who would ultimately represent their teams in the next stage of competition. But even in the midst of intense battle, Usher still found time to make a love connection on "The Voice" — even if just for one song. Here's how night three of the battle rounds went down: One Coach's Loser Is Another Coach's Steal Usher lasted the first week of battle rounds without a steal — but that all changed when Shakira passed up on singer Ayesha "Music Box" Brooks. She was put up against 16-year-old Deja Hall, and though guest mentor Miranda Lambert feared Hall hadn't "found her full voice yet" at such a young age, the young singer held her own against the more experienced Music Box. Usher couldn't pass up on Music Box's "incredible" voice, and expressed his confidence in her "potential to go really far" in this competition. Madilyn Paige And Tanner James Perform 'Everything Has Changed' And It's 'Cute Overload' Coach Levine sent out Dawn & Hawkes and Josh Murley to duke it out on the battle stage. Their performance of "Stuck in the Middle With You" was light-hearted with a "campfire vibe," all three singers wielding their guitars and hitting their airy and pleasant notes. When the singer lost to the duo, Shakira hit her steal button and gave him a second chance. The last steal of the night came after Usher made the tough decision between singers Bria Kelly and Tess Boyer. Kelly blew all four of the coaches away during her audition, and guest mentor Jill Scott even described her as a "rocket in flight." The gut-wrenching rasp of Kelly's voice coupled with the sultry and powerful voice of Boyer made for one of the night's best battles, but in the end, Usher declared Bria Kelly the winner. It wasn't long until Shelton hit his steal button for Boyer, saying that the singer blew him away, and showed him that she was a fighter. Their Happiness is Infectious Team Adam's first battle was between the young and energetic Austin Ellis and father Josh Kaufman. The pairing of Ellis' "jovial nature" and "growling voice" with Kaufman's "caramel tone" intrigued guest mentor Aloe Blacc. Their rendition of Pharrell's "Happy" — accented with impressive James Brown-style grunts — got a standing ovation from coach Shakira, and Usher compared Ellis to a "caged beast." In the end, Levine declared Josh Kaufman's "miraculous" voice the winner of the battle. A Love Story Taylor Swift Would Approve Of Usher gave "The Voice" its first "Romeo and Juliet battle" when he paired young singers Madilyn Paige and Tanner James together. Tasked with singing Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran's duet "Everything Has Changed," Usher and guest mentor Jill Scott urged the two be "starry-eyed" and "in love." The end of the "most adorable" performance left host Carson Daly left feeling like he just saw "The Notebook Part Two," and Levine feeling like he was watching "golden retriever puppies frolic through fields of wheat in sunset." In the end, Usher chose to stick with 16-year-old Madilyn Paige. Be sure to find out how the battle rounds end Tuesday night (March 25) on NBC at 8 p.m. source:mtv
  15. If you have anything that resembles a soul, this will bring you joy: The Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls may be joining forces for a world tour. Don't get your hopes up too much though: It's only the slightest smidgen of a "maybe," according to BSB's Brian Littrell. But "maybe" is good enough. "We are actually in early talks about maybe doing a world tour together with the Spice Girls," BSB's Brian Littrell old U.K. newspaper The Sun. While it wouldn't be too hard to get the Backstreet Boys together for a worldwide double date -- they've already got their A World Like This Tour kicking off in May and their Backstreet Boys Cruise setting sail in October -- but getting the girls back together may be a little trickier. One member that we're sure would be down is Mel B. When MTV News caught up with Scary Spice, she told us she's itching for a reunion in 2014 to celebrate their 20th anniversary. "It will be our 20th year anniversary next year so I'm hoping we do get together and do something," Mel B told MTV News. "It kind of would be a shame if we didn't." And while Mel may be able to get Sporty, Baby and Ginger on board, Victoria Beckham may be a harder get: last year, she said her days with the Spice Girls were unequivocally behind her. "I realized it was finished for good in 2008, when we reformed for our reunion tour," Beckham told Vogue Paris. "It should have been the best moment of my life, but I just wanted to be elsewhere. It wasn't a lack of respect for the girls or the audience, but the passion just wasn't there." With Posh or without, this sounds like one excellent idea. source:mtv

  17. It looks like Katy Perry wants to throw a little rap into the mix on her Prism Tour. Rapper/singer/songwriter (and model) Becky G will open up for the "Dark Horse" singer on four upcoming Prism stops -- two in Houston, Texas, and two in Mexico -- starting October 10. Becky made the announcement on Monday (March 24) in a quite elated Instagram video saying, "What you heard? It's real." Becky and Katy will put on two shows in Houston, on October 10 and October 11, then head Monterrey on October 14 and Mexico City three days later. For KatyCats not familiar with the "Becky from the Block" singer, after getting her start on YouTube, the 17-year-old launched to stardom through collaborations with the likes of Cher Lloyd and Cody Simpson, whom she opened for in his first-ever headlining tour in last fall. And if she brings any of her show-opening tricks from that tour to Prism, fans are in for quite the party. "I think you can expect my set to be fun," Becky G told MTV News before she hit the road with Mahone on his MTV Artist to Watch tour last fall. "I definitely want to get the party going before Austin hits the stage, and I'm a dancer. A lot of people don't know that, so I'm definitely a groover. You'll see some cool moves onstage." Both Perry and Becky G are COVERGIRLs, so we're sure they'll have great chemistry. source:mtv
  18. Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher Pregnant With First Child? Just weeks after Kutcher put a ring on it, the actor and his fiancée are reportedly expecting their first child together. The couple, friends since their "That '70s Show" days, have been a couple for about two years. This will be the first child for both. Lady Gaga Debuts 'G.U.Y. - An ARTPOP Film' Coming in at 11:48, the longest Gaga video to date, "G.U.Y." features everything from ankle-length Donatella wigs to a "Real Housewives" band to the resurrection of Michael Jackson. Directed by Mother Monster herself, filmed at California's Hearst Castle, the video is a sight to see. Watch it here. Jay Z Disses Drake On "We Made It Remix" Hova fired back after reading Drizzy's comments in a recent Rolling Stone article, claiming Jay Z's frequent art references in his verses are "kinda corny." Hova spits back on the Jay Electronica remix, saying "Sorry, Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk/ Silly me, rappin' 'bout sh-- that I really bought/ While these rappers rap about guns that they ain't shot/ And a bunch of other silly sh-- that they ain't got." Your move, Aubrey. 19. YG has a ton of great records on his critically acclaimed debut My Krazy Life, but when it came time to pick a favorite, his fellow Compton MC Kendrick Lamar felt one really stood out— the bassy "Really Be (Smokin N Drinkin)." YG Explains How His Kendrick Lamar Collaboration On 'Really Be' Came About "Kendrick told me that when it was time to put out my album he was gonna hop on one of my records," YG told MTV News on Tuesday, while he was in Los Angeles celebrating his release day. "He wanted to hear the whole album, so we played him the whole album and then he heard that song and was like, 'I'm hopping on that, that's the best song on there.'" Like Kendrick, YG hails from Compton, California, but his major debut tells a drastically different story than Lamar's Grammy-nominated good kid, m.A.A.d. city. On the surface YG's MKL plays more like bad kid, mad city as he plays up his gang affiliations and raps about the time he spent locked up in jail. To simply position YG's debut as the other side to Kendrick's coin is only to tell a part of the story. With the help of producer DJ Mustard, who produced on eight out of the LP's 14 tracks, the Young Gangsta created a lane of his own. "It's A-1 to be able to get somebody like that on my record," YG said of Kendrick. "I knew Kendrick before I blew up, he knew me before he blew up and be rocking with what I was doin' and I been rocking with what they was doin' so it's all love and respect." source:mtv
  20. As Young Money's CEO, Lil Wayne — who's been rapping since he was first signed to Cash Money at age 9 — now oversees one of the hottest record labels in the game with a star-studded roster that includes Nicki Minaj and Drake. Now, though, the 31-year-old is gearing up for his Tha Carter V LP and rap retirement. Maybe that's what got Tunechi in a reflective mood when he sat down with Elliott Wilson for the latest installment of his CRWN series. Weezy opened up about his rise to hip-hop superstardom and how he wants to be remembered when he hangs up his mic for good, among other eye-opening topics. Here are 12 things we learned: 1. Lil Wayne Took A Meeting With Jay Z, But Didn't Sign According to urban legend, back when Jay Z became the president of Def Jam, he tried to sign Wayne. But Wayne clarified that, saying, "It wasn't like that. It wasn't like Jay was reaching out for me, like I want you over here. He expressed interest and you know me, I was a super [Jay Z] fanatic, I was on the first thing smokin'. I went over there, we met, I met with Jay, but history turned out to be what history is." 2. Lil Wayne Hears All Your Criticism All the hip-hop greats have been criticized, so Wayne doesn't expect to escape the same fate. "Who am I to be any different?" he said. "They gon compare my new stuff to my old stuff like an athlete. They compared their new play to their old play, but when you finish, they can't do nothing but say, 'Ooh, look at what he done.' So I know what I've done, I know what I did and I know what I can do ... and they do, too." 3. There's No Drake Vs. Kendrick Battle In Wayne's Eyes After Kendrick Lamar dropped his incendiary "Control" verse where he called out Drake, among others, by name, there was a little rift between K.Dot and Drizzy. But for Wayne, there's no real battle there. "Ain't nobody versus nobody. Everybody do they own thing to me. Music is music. See to me, the music and battling is different. I don't think that battling, unless it's a classic battle, I don't think that that's music. I don't think people wanna hear it more than once or twice. If you're battling you're talking about somebody, you're going at somebody or you saying you're this, that and the third. OK, it's good for the time. But it's not music. Music lasts forever." 4. Wayne Hopes He Fits In With Biggie, 'Pac, Jay, Eminem Biggie, Tupac, Jay Z and Eminem are the pinnacle of rap royalty, and Wayne believes he belongs in the same breath. "I definitely look at it like that. I don't think that the new artists even putting us in their competition. When I say 'us' I hope that I fit in that 'us.' I hope I fit in that and if I do, I hope they look at it as I'm trying to get there. Me, I still look at it like I'm trying to get there." 5. Lil Wayne Wishes He Could Perform With That Kanye West Mask Wayne went to Kanye West's Yeezus concert in Atlanta and found himself nearly out of breath from the experience. Oh, and he was beside himself over the masks he wore. "That ni--a did a whole show with a mask on. I was like, damn, I wish I could do some sh-- like that, just go out there with the mask on like that ni--a had that mask on. If the show was two hours, he had that bitch on for a hour and 57 minutes. He revealed himself when Jesus came out ... you know you gotta take that mask off for Jesus." 6. Wayne Makes A Lot Of Sports References When He Talks Lil Wayne doesn't just love sports: He lives sports. So it's no shocker that he raps about and uses sports metaphors when he speaks. After all, if it doesn't come on ESPN's "SportsCenter," Wayne "doesn't know it happened." He compared Jay Z to Kobe and Jordan and Kendrick Lamar's battle moment to Allen Iverson's infamous crossover of Michael Jordan. 7. Lil Wayne Wants To Be Reincarnated As ... Lil Wayne When recounting his platinum success as a 14-year-old with Tha Block Is Hot on up to present day, Wayne revealed that if reincarnation was a real thing, "If I had to go back and do it a billion times, I hope I come back as this same ni--a and do it again." 8. Wayne Won't Stop Rapping About The P-Word Anyone who's listened to Wayne's lyrics knows that he's enamored with p---y. But if people think he has any intentions of stopping, well, you don't know Wayne. "What the f--- else you want me to talk about? If you wanna hear somebody talk about some p---y, I'm your man. You let me do a solo album called P---y and I'm outchea. I'll do five of them bitches, P---y I." 9. Wayne Doesn't Want To Be The Best Rapper Alive Anymore When he was making his bones as an MC after Hov "retired," Wayne declared he was the best rapper alive. But now he doesn't want to be that anymore because "I have awesome artists, simple and plain, and I'm not trying to outshine them at all. I have artists that I feel like I want you to be better than me. It's about them, it's about us." 10. Lil Wayne Was Early For 'Soldier' Verse Wayne considers his "Soldier" guest spot to be the platform that shot his career off into another orbit. Why? "Because it was Beyoncé. That sh-- was big." Needless to say, he and co-collaborator T.I. were on it. "We was there early!" 11. Wayne Couldn't Rap How He Wanted Before Tha Carter There's a very noticeable difference between Wayne's flow pre-Carter and post-Carter. The reason for that is nobody wanted to hear anything outside of the Cash Money collective's signature New Orleans sound. "I actually used to couldn't rap how I wanted to rap. We had to have that 'Woadie,' that was our thing. After 500 Degreez, I was still having to be that Cash Money, New Orleans trendsetting whatever. Then from there, Tha Carter, I'm doing my own thing now and I'm rapping how I wanna rap on that bitch." 12. Lil Wayne Just Wants To Be Remembered As 'Cool' Wayne used to shoot for being remembered like Biggie or 'Pac, but now that his history "already done that," he just wants to be remembered as a "humble spirit, a good spirit, good soul like a Willie Nelson." He wants people to say, "Man, that n---a was cool and he did great music." source:mtv
  21. Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky have welcomed twin sons. The "Thor" actor, 30, and the "Fast & Furious 6" star, 37, confirmed the news to People on Friday (March 21). The two were married back in December 2010, and welcomed daughter India Rose in May of 2012. Back in January 2012, when the couple announced they were expecting their first baby, Pataky spoke to People about why having children with Hemsworth is the "best thing" that's happened to her. "Having the person that you love by your side and starting a family with them is the best thing that can happen to you in this life," Pataky said. "You can't ask for more." On top of caring for twins, Hemsworth also has several movies lined up. Filming for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" begins this summer, and "Cyber," "Heart of the Sea" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" will all hit theaters next year. source:mtv
  22. Lily Allen is the first to admit that the idea behind her new album Sheezus — that there is an ongoing battle amongst her contemporaries to rule the pop universe — is a silly one. Of course, she's also quick point out that it's true. "There's a song on the album ... called 'Sheezus,' and the first verse is about me re-entering the music scene, and how kind of scary that is," she told MTV News. "And the choruses talk about people who are this in the scene, and [the idea] that women tend to be played against one another. The way I read it, there's a queen and everyone else is in her slipstream. So I guess what it's trying to say is that we can all be 'Sheezus.'" Lily Allen: 'We Can All Be Sheezus' To counter that, critics will no doubt mention that Allen spends no small portion of the song calling out those very contemporaries (Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Lorde and Lady Gaga are all mentioned by name) ... though in doing so, they're only further illustrating her point: that the media seemingly can't get enough of pitting female pop stars against one another, often for purely ridiculous — and profitable — means. So she's just going to come right out and say it: She's not competing with anybody, and, frankly, doesn't want to. In fact, she's not sure she even could. "It's kind of ridiculous because I name-check Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lorde, and I don't think that I could even possibly take one tiny diamond off of any of their crowns," she explained. "The idea of the song is the ridiculousness that there even is a Sheezus." And that maturity is readily apparent throughout Sheezus, Allen's first album in five years. For the first time in her career, rather that snipe sideways — she's had high-profile feuds with everyone from Perez Hilton to Elton John — she's set her sights on the top, taking jabs at the sexual politics in play in the record industry (on first single "Hard Out Here") and society's double standards. Part of that growth comes from actual maturity: In the time since 2009's It's Not Me, It's You, she branched out into business, got married and had two daughters. And while she still doesn't consider herself to be a role model ("Pop stars shouldn't be role models," she said. "That sort of thing should start at home,") she's certainly trying to hold herself to a higher standard these days. So that means no more sh--talking ... whether you like it or not. This time, she's going to let the songs on Sheezus speak for her. "I don't even know why I did it before; I just felt like I was saying what everyone else was thinking, it wasn't even an intentional, 'I want to cuss this person out' kind of thing," Allen said. "That's one thing that has changed from having children; you realize that everybody is somebody else's child, and would you like someone to say that about your child?" source:mtv
  23. 50 Cent's 2003 Get Rich Or Die Tryin' inspired a generation of MCs, just ask Schoolboy Q, who admits to picking up the mic because of the G-Unit juggernaut. But who inspires 50? With his latest single "Hold On," Fif tells MTV News that he borrowed a vibe from 1980s rap duo EPMD. 50 Cent Says Animal Ambition Is About Prosperity "I wrote it, and at the time, I'll be honest I was listening to 'You Gots To Chill' [by] EPMD," he said of the lead single off of his upcoming Animal Ambition LP, due out June 3. In 1988, the Long Island, New York duo fused samples from Kool & the Gang and Zapp to create the slow-rolling "You Gots To Chill," an early rap single that urged listeners to just sit back and relax. The sentiment on 50's "Hold On" is similar, except Fif isn't asking you to chill; he's telling you while waving a gun. How Does 50 Cent Feel About His Relationship With G-Unit? "I was looking for something to match the tempo and energy that was there, because these are the things that I fell in love with when I was actually falling in love with hip-hop," 50 explained. "I'm looking for something to mirror that because it's far away from what is actually going on right now in the culture." "Hold On" is just the lead track from the G-Unit MC's upcoming project. He plans to release new records and videos every week leading up to the release. During a special interview on Eminem's SIRIUS XM satellite radio station on March 31, Fif will break down the meaning behind specific tracks. He'll explain why he chose to bait his one-time foe James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, who is currently serving life in prison for drug trafficking. In addition to the actual lyrics, 50 just felt he had to get the record right sonically, and using EPMD was the perfect template for him. "When I actually got it together 'Hold On' was perfect," he said. "You hear me saying, 'Just relax, relax.' I'm saying relax instead of 'You gots to chill.'" source:mtv

  25. Perfection can't be rushed. But Gunplay fans have had to wait a lot longer than usual for the Carol City rapper to drop his debut LP, Living Legend. According to the "Bible on the Dash" MC, though, his supporters' patience through all of the drug addiction-related troubles and recurring legal issues is finally about to pay off. Gunplay Talks 'Living Legend' This Summer "We talking, like, summertime, maybe, but it's definitely gonna happen," Gunplay told MTV News backstage at Def Jam's 30th Anniversary showcase earlier this month. "It's up to the Bawse [Rick Ross], it's up to [Def Jam EVP Shawn "Pecas" Costner], it's up to the building. The fans ready. I'm ready. I'm geared up. I'm balanced. I'm ready to go. Living Legend, it's on the way." With his much-anticipated project somewhat set in stone, Don Logan was more readily willing to reveal who he's been working with in the studio (let's hope the rumored collabo with Kanye West comes to fruition) to make his solo set worth the extended wait. "I got [Lil] Wayne on there, I got Young Dro on there," he revealed. "Production from a lot of young, hungry, up-and-coming producers. Got one from 808 Mafia." Having graduated from peddling a then-unsigned Rick Ross' mixtapes around Miami to putting the final touches on his first major-label release, is it fair to assume that the Triple Cs representer will also try to follow Rozay's sonic blueprint with the help of a certain collective of Grammy-winning producers from Tampa, Florida? "I need to get a J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League," Gunplay said, excitedly, about the beat maestros responsible for hits such as the Jay Z-assisted "Maybach Music," "Magnificent" and Mastermind's "Thug Cry." "We ain't done yet. We 'bout 75 percent done, so J.L., holla at me, yo!" Now that he's drug-free and legally in a good space, the Bilderberg Group spitter is poised to bring his brand of engaging, off-kilter pathos to the masses, with focused dexterity and lyrical clarity, of course. "The drugs just enhance what you're thinking but when you're sober, you speak from the heart and it's not just rambling on — it makes sense," he said on "RapFix Live" last year. "Now you get to analyze every word and every bar and you make sure everything is on time." source:mtv
