  1. The track was previously only shared with one fan as part of the musician's "Xmas Song Xchange Contest" A rare Sufjan Stevens song will finally be released, it has been confirmed. ‘Lonely Man Of Winter’ was written in 2007 but was only shared with one fan as part of the musician’s “Xmas Song Xchange Contest”. While lucky winner Alec Duffy held listening parties for other fans to hear the track, it has never been made publicly available. Now, it has been announced that the song will be released tomorrow (November 9). The original version of the track will be made available alongside a brand new version, produced by Doveman and featuring Melissa Mary Ahern. The single will also include ‘Every Day Is Christmas’, the track written by Duffy that helped him win the contest. A vinyl version of the release will be out on December 7 via Asthmatic Kitty, with proceeds going to JACK, a non-profit venue in Brooklyn for which Duffy is a founder and artistic director. Earlier this year, Stevens confirmed his plans to reissue his 2006 album ‘Songs For Christmas’ on vinyl for the very first time. The box set will be released tomorrow and will feature all 42 songs from the original release. The musician was invited to become a member of The Academy this year following his Oscar-nominated work on the soundtrack for Call Me By Your Name. In April, he performed the OST’s ‘Visions Of Gideon’ live for the first time at New York’s Town Hall.
  2. The late rapper's cause of death was confirmed earlier this week Vince Staples has paid tribute to Mac Miller, saying: “The good ones always die.” Miller was found dead at his San Fernando Valley home on September 7. Earlier this week (November 5), his cause of death was confirmed to be from “mixed drug toxicity”, with fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol present in his system. In an interview on Real 92.3’s Big Boy’s Neighbourhood, Staples was asked whether there had been any signs that Miller might suffer an overdose. “He was trying,” he replied. “All you can ask for is for somebody to try. You can’t always win, you know? Nah, I never seen him dying. He was too happy. But to be honest, the good ones always die. So it makes sense in retrospect, but I was never worried about him.” Staples continued to talk about the tributes that had been made to Miller since his death. “He was bright,” he said. “As far as all them people, it’s all good. I appreciate what they say but, I need them to say that to his momma. And say that to his family, and check on them. That’s what I care about.” A tribute concert was held in Miller’s memory in Los Angeles last month (October 31), featuring performances from the likes of Staples, Chance The Rapper, SZA, John Mayer, Miguel, and more. The event also marked the launch of the Mac Miller Circles Fund, which aims to provide “programming, resources, and opportunities to youth from underserved communities.” Earlier this week, French Montana opened up about his friendship with Miller and the circumstances around his death. The musician told BET’s Raq Rants the people around his late friend had “let him get away with whatever he chooses to do.”
  3. The pop star was rumoured to be releasing the 'Sweetener' follow-up tomorrow (November 9) Ariana Grande has denied her new album is arriving this week. Rumours had been circulating online that the pop star would be releasing the follow-up to ‘Sweetener‘ tomorrow (November 9). However, the singer has now spoken out about the reports, saying the record isn’t ready to release. “I’ve seen rumours that it’s coming Friday but it’s not yet,” she tweeted when a fan asked for a release date. “We still finishing things up.” Despite Grande still working on the album, she has already confirmed its title and shared the title track, ‘Thank U, Next‘. The song contains references to some of her famous exes – Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson, and Mac Miller. The singer only released her fourth studio album, ‘Sweetener’, in August. In a four-star review, NME said: “Ariana’s such a star that she can turn some of the album’s most left-field cuts into effortlessly charming pop gold. She is still putting out material from the record, with the video for ‘Breathin” arriving yesterday (November 7). Fans have speculated Grande has hinted at the tracklist for her next album within the video, specifically on a shot of a departure board, which features words like “Remember”, “Imagine”, and “Needy”. The star performed ‘Thank U, Next’ on The Ellen Show earlier today (November 8). During the First Wives Club-inspired performance, she fell off a chair, causing her to exclaim, “Oh my god!” and laugh. Meanwhile, a collection of unreleased songs by Grande was apparently “discovered” by one of her fans recently. However, a source close to the singer told NME it was not affiliated with the star.
  4. The rapper has edited one track on the album Kanye West has quietly made a change to his latest album, ‘Ye‘, five months after it was first released. The rapper has previous when it comes to editing records after their release. He updated ‘The Life Of Pablo‘ several times after it was uploaded to streaming sites, calling it a “living, breathing, changing creative expression.” While West has not yet commented on changes made to ‘Ye’, his engineer Adam Wolpert has confirmed at least one has been made on the track ‘I Thought About Killing You’. He replied to a tweet notifying fan accounts for the star that a sample had been removed from the song because it had never been cleared with a simple: “Correct.” West is due to release another new album before the end of the year in ‘Yandhi’. The record was initially announced to be arriving on the same night he performed on SNL (September 29) but failed to materialise. Later, the rapper confirmed a new release date – Black Friday, or November 23. He had previously said controversial artists 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion would feature on the record. Last month, West announced he was “distancing himself from politics” after he claimed right-wing commentator Candace Owens had falsely credited him for designing a range of shirts for her “blexit”, or “black exit”, campaign. “My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in,” he tweeted. “I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!” In the days following the tweet, he began following figures such as the Green Party’s Caroline Lucas, Bernie Sanders, and Parkland shooting survivor and teen activist Emma González on Twitter.
  5. 'Nowhere2go' marks his first single since 2016 Earl Sweatshirt has released a new song called ‘Nowhere2go’, his first new music since 2016. The track was released today (November 8). ‘Nowhere2go’ comes in at a brisk one minute and 55 seconds, with Earl adopting a mumble rap style and slippery, experimental production from Ade Hakim. Some of the lyrics of ‘Nowhere2go’ point to his struggle with anxiety. On it, he raps: “I think/Spent most of my life depressed/Only thing on my mind was death/Didn’t know when my time was next.“ The LA rapper cancelled his European tour this summer citing his ongoing battle with anxiety, following the death of his father, former South African poet laureate Keorapetse Kgositsile. Listen to the track below. The former Odd Future rapper has been teasing fans this week by posting snippets of music on Twitter. He announced the release with an excited tweet, reading “YEEAAAAOEOOEOEOE TO SAY IM EXCITED TO B GIVING YALL MUSIC IS BIG UNDERSTATEMENT. THIS YEAR BEEN THE ROUGHEST OF MY LIFE, BUT HERE WE ARE !!!”. However, Earl recently performed at a Mac Miller tribute concert, and appeared on Vince Staples’ new album ‘FM!‘. This recent activity points toward the release of his much-anticipated follow-up album to 2015’s ‘I Don’t Like S***, I Don’t Go Outside’. However, there has been no word of a release date. In a three-star review of that album, the NME wrote: “It works because Earl is a rare talent. He can write about pretty much nothing and the words sing, which is fortunate because that’s largely what he does.”
  6. The rapper took an impromptu stop while driving around Washington D.C. Snoop Dogg has shared video footage of him smoking a blunt and saying “fuck the President” outside the White House. The rapper was driving around Washington D.C. when the vehicle he was in approached the Presidential building. He asked the driver to let him out, despite not being allowed to park in the area. Further videos posted on his Instagram page showed the star sitting on a bench across the street from the White House smoking a blunt. At one point, he said: “While you n****s vote, doing all this other bullshit, I’m at the White House smoking. Fuck the President.” Watch the videos below. Last month, Snoop teased a collaboration with Eminem by posting a photo of the pair in the studio. The rapper captioned the post: “Detroit. Tommoro. 8 pm. Redemption of a Dogg had to c M. To get the stamp.” The words suggested that Eminem could be working on music for Snoop’s stage show Redemption of a Dogg. The show had a three-night run at Detroit’s Music Hall. It also marked the 25th anniversary of the rapper’s debut album, ‘Doggystyle’. According to a press release, the play is described as an “urban theatre” experience that tells the story of “a multi-faceted character who is a gangsta rapper, family man and man of God. Meanwhile, earlier this year, Snoop Dogg broke the record for constructing the largest gin and juice ever, in honour of his hit song about the beverage. The giant gin and juice used 38 jugs of orange juice, 154 bottle of apricot brandy and a whopping 180 bottles of gin, according to Guinness.
