Kelly Rowland doesn't want to watch the recent Britney Spears documentary because the singer didn't endorse the project. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live and the programme's After Show on Thursday, Kelly explained that she has some reservations about watching Framing Britney Spears because Britney wasn't involved in it herself. "I haven't seen the Britney doc. I'm having a hard time wanting to watch it," she sighed. "I really respect when artists say, 'This is a documentary, it's OK to watch this.' I respect their space and their privacy and their point of view. And their story, what they feel their story is, from their brains, their hearts their mouths. So, I try and respect that." However, Kelly concluded: "But everybody says they really enjoy it, so that's great." The Destiny's Child singer also weighed in on the changing media landscape since Britney's much-publicised breakdown in 2008, and insisted that social media has a lot more power these days than it ever did back then. "Now it's social media, and social media is people. From her perspective, (the negativity came from) journalists and all these people in the media. But now social media is people. So people need to just be kind. Period," she said.

The Outriders demo turned out to be a major hit. Publisher Square Enix revealed this week that the upcoming cooperative RPG's demo hit 2 million downloads in just one week. In an official dev update, Square Enix gave a recap of the Outriders demo's incredibly successful, albeit a little bumpy, launch last Thursday. After a series of delays due to the pandemic, fans are finally closer than ever to seeing Outriders in full. Outriders is a third-person shooter mixed with some RPG elements. Players create custom characters and choose from four classes, each with their own special abilities. Some skills include manipulating time, sparking seismic activity, and controlling fire, and the game is set for a multiplatform release on April 1 (including for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S). However, eager players can download a free demo, which includes the game's prologue and opening chapter, and all progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game once purchased. Square Enix shared the exciting download milestone in a dev update on Reddit, stating, "Since demo launch we've closely watched over 2 million players download and battle their way through the war-torn hellscape of Enoch." After thanking players for their support, the publisher provided a recap of the demo's launch. The Outriders demo server experienced connectivity issues due to the speed at which players downloaded the game. Developer People Can Fly quickly responded by scaling up the servers. Now, Square Enix has assured that the developers changed the backend so that these same issues will not occur when Outriders releases in full. The team is also tracking any other problems and providing players with temporary fixes. The fact that the Outriders demo hit 2 million downloads in one week isn't entirely surprising. In just a few days, the demo pushed the game's pre-order sales to the top ten on Steam. Outriders became the seventh best-selling game on Steam, and it's not even released yet. Beyond that, the demo has given fans an idea of which platform Outriders will best perform on. Tests conducted on the PS5 and Xbox Series X revealed that Outriders performs better on the Sony console, but overall, the game reportedly looks better on the Microsoft console. Outriders has done very well so far with only a demo, but there's no telling how the full release will be received by fans. The expectations are high for People can Fly, and players just one month away from finding out if Outriders is really worth the pre-release hype. Outriders will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on April 1, 2001.

Stephen King’s Talisman Show Coming From Steven Spielberg & Stranger Things Creators Stephen King’s The Talisman show is coming from Steven Spielberg and Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers. Co-written with Peter Straub, the Talisman novel hit book shelves back in 1984. In something of a departure for both the book's authors, the novel entered the realm of fantasy with its story of a boy on a quest through parallel dimensions to find the titular talisman, a crystal which he believes can heal his dying mother. The dark multiverse fantasy of King and Straub's The Talisman ultimately captivated their combined readerships enough to sell 880,000 copies in its first run. But even before the book was released, it had already won a huge fan in Spielberg, who famously secured movie rights in 1982. As late as 2018, Spielberg was still talking about making the book into a movie, and in 2019 it was reported that the movie was going forward with Handmaid's Tale director Mike Barker at the helm. But it seems Spielberg has now given up his quest to make The Talisman come to life as a movie. As reported by THR, the famed director is joining forces with Stranger Things co-creators the Duffer Brothers to instead produce the project as a show for Netflix along with his own Amblin Television plus Paramount Television Studios. download (1).jpg The Duffer Brothers are of course clearly huge fans of both Spielberg and King, as evidenced by their constant references to the two titans of '80s pop culture on Stranger Things. Netflix knows a thing or two about King adaptations as well, having produced Gerald's Game, 1922 and In the Tall Grass. Besides Spielberg holding Talisman movie rights for decades, he and King's only previous connection of note came via the series Under the Dome, based on King's novel and executive produced by Spielberg. News that The Talisman is finally coming to screens is great for fans of the book who have long waited to see it adapted. However, it may be slightly disappointing to some that the world is not getting the Spielberg-directed movie adaptation many have longed for since the filmmaker first locked down the rights. On the surface, news that the Duffer Brothers are also involved should seem positive given their obvious affection for King's works. But on the other hand, it can be argued that the Duffers' affection runs a little too much to the blatantly nostalgic side, and tends to reduce everything to mere reference. It may also give some people pause to remember that the last time a big King fantasy work was adapted, the result was the very disappointing Dark Tower movie. Of course, The Talisman is a single work and not a massive series like the Dark Tower books (Talisman did get a sequel novel in 2001 but that book presumably will not figure in to the adaptation). It will be fascinating to see how the visions of King (and Straub), the Duffers and Spielberg ultimately blend when the long-awaited The Talisman adaptation makes its way to Netflix.
