  2. Zombies are coming to Watch Dogs Legion, which I suppose was inevitable, given that they will consume every game eventually. They'll shamble into the open world hack-'em-up tomorrow alongside update 4.5, in a new mode entitled Legion of the Dead. This is almost certainly the big surprise teased in a recent Legion roadmap, which detailed story expansions, additional characters, and other bits and bobs to be added to the game. It's unclear whether the mode will be included as part of the game patch, or made available separately as paid or free DLC, though I'd expect the former given that Ubisoft considers it to be in an alpha state. The developer plans to tweak Legion of the Dead based on player feedback. The mode will offer a 1-4 player roguelite experience, dropping players in a London filled with the undead. IGN has the scoop on the new mode, and you can watch its 20-minute playthrough in the video above, as four players hunt down supply packages before hoofing it to an extraction point. There's a lot of shooting, and not much hacking going on in the mode. But then, I expect it would be quite a challenge to hack a zombie.
  3. The first Eternals trailer secretly sets up a team member's villain turn by showing how Druig uses his powers. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie features a massive ensemble of Hollywood stars to play the obscure superhero team from the comics. With so many MCU fans having no pre-existing knowledge of the characters, Eternals' trailer was the first introduction to them for the majority of people around the world. They are shown to be working together throughout the footage and reunited in the present day to fight a new threat. Barry Keoghan plays Druig in Eternals and is seen repeatedly during the movie's trailer. Most of his scenes see him working with other Eternals, including forming the Uni-Mind with Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Makkari (Lauren Ridloff). There is another moment in the trailer where Druig emerges from a house in the middle of the woods. Based on other Eternals footage, this is the same location that the rest of the team travels to in the present day and meets up with Druig once again. This forest setting is seen again in the trailer and what happens there appears to be an example of Marvel Studios planting the seeds for his villainous future. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW RELATED: What Is Eternals Story? Everything We Know About The Plot The Eternals trailer shows a group of humans in the forest, but all of their eyes are glowing. They simultaneously raise guns at an off-screen threat, which could be the Eternals coming to meet Druig, or possibly a Deviant on the attack. Their glowing eyes and proximity to Druig seem to be a sign that he is using his telepath powers to control them. Druig has several abilities common to Eternals like super strength and flight, but he is one of the few to also have telepathy. Sersi has telepathy powers too, but she loves humans and presumably wouldn't use her powers in such a fashion. This brings a new potential context to the moment, as Druig is quite likely controlling the humans living in the same village. Druig's apparent alliance with the main team in Eternals is a change from how the character has been portrayed in the comics, but asserting his power over others lines up. He is traditionally a power-hungry villain from the Eternals race whose schemes bring him into conflict with the rest of them. Druig often uses his abilities to control the minds of others to his advantage. The comics have shown him gather an army using his mental powers, force a man who resisted joining his army to kill himself, and so on. During the Neil Gaiman reboot of the Eternals, Druig managed to brainwash certain members of the Eternals during the reawakening process too. He later also telepathically communicated with a resurrected Thanos to offer the Mad Titan his aid. Marvel Studios might be changing parts of Druig's characterization for Eternals, but his telepath abilities seem to be intact. He is already demonstrating behavior that could make Druig a villain in the MCU sooner or later. He seems to have no problem taking control of others and very well could think that he and all Eternals are superior to humans and should be treated as such. There are already some theories that he's secretly a villain in Eternals, so his treatment of humans could cause a divide within the group. If he doesn't have a heel turn in the first film, then Druig could become a true villain in Eternals 2 or another project
  4. Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow teases that the first trailer could be released soon. Universal Pictures brought Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park franchise back in a big way in 2015 with the release of Jurassic World. The film set multiple major box office records at the time and gave the studio confidence to extend the relaunch. The sequel was another commercial hit, and proved that the Jurassic World franchise was wildly successful. This allowed Universal to move forward with plans to complete the trilogy. Colin Trevorrow is back to direct Jurassic World: Dominion after helming the first film but leaving the sequel to do Star Wars 9, which he ultimately left. The third installment in the rebooted franchise is highly anticipated by fans due to the combination of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard starring once again and the returns of the franchise's original stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. It will also be exciting to see how Jurassic World 3 ends the trilogy and sets up what else could come. The wait has been longer than expected as it is one of many films to be affected by COVID-19. The movie had to stop production multiple times and was then delayed a full year to 2022. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW RELATED: Jurassic World: Every Original Trilogy Character Who Could Still Return Despite Jurassic World: Dominion still being more than a year away, it appears the first trailer could be coming. Trevorrow recently spoke to THR to discuss the release of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 3 and the future of the entire Jurassic franchise. This included talk about the upcoming third installment of the Jurassic World franchise. Trevorrow was specifically asked when the promotion for Jurassic World 3 will begin. He responded by teasing that they are planning a fun launch, which could include the first trailer. "It’s going to be sooner than you think. I can’t talk about it just yet. We’ve got something fun planned, and it has everything to do with getting people back into the movie theaters." The possibility of Jurassic World: Dominion's first trailer coming soon is surprising. The movie won't be released in theaters until June 2022. It is common practice in Hollywood to release the first footage for a major blockbuster somewhere between six to eight months before the release date. Universal has followed this strategy for Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and that has worked out incredibly well. This marketing plan should mean that Jurassic World: Dominion's first trailer won't come until the end of 2021. If Universal is changing plans to give Jurassic World: Dominion an early and different trailer launch, when and how could it happen? Trevorrow notes that whatever they are planning is designed to help get people back into movie theaters. It is worth noting that Universal has F9 coming out at the end of June. Studios often release new trailers for their upcoming films so they can be attached to their own biggest releases. Universal could do this and release the first Jurassic World 3 trailer in time for F9, but maybe it'll be a theater exclusive to drive more people to cinemas. It's also possible that a re-release of movies from the Jurassic franchise could be announced - similar to what Universal is doing with Fast Fridays before F9 - and that will culminate with an exclusive Jurassic World: Dominion tease. Whenever and however the trailer is released, it should get an online release shortly thereafter.
  5. The reviews are in for A Quiet Place 2, and they include a thumbs-up from the director of one of the greatest horror movies of all time: The Exorcist. Krasinski made his directorial debut in 2018 with A Quiet Place, a genre pivot many didn't expect from the leading man of The Office, a workplace comedy, and Jack Ryan, a political action drama. The director's fresh perspective ultimately proved an asset to the film as A Quiet Place achieved critical and box office success. A Quiet Place, written by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck in collaboration with Krasinski, takes place in a nightmarish Earth plagued by a mysterious species that has overtaken humanity. The monsters are blind and use their acute hearing to hunt prey that includes Krasinski's character, Lee Abbott, and his family. Lee's daughter Regan (Millicent Simmonds) uses a cochlear implant for impaired hearing, and the family discovers that the device can be used against the aliens. A Quiet Place 2 picks up after the death of Krasinski's character, who sacrifices himself to the monsters at the end of the first film in order to draw them away from his family. Armed with their new weapon, the Abbotts depart their destroyed farmhouse in search of human allies. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW RELATED: What To Expect From A Quiet Place 3 William Friedkin, director of The Exorcist, has given the follow-up his stamp of approval on Twitter. The acclaimed filmmaker calls A Quiet Place 2 a "classic horror film" in a tweet, which is high praise coming from someone responsible for making a classic horror film himself. The director also argues that the film's release means "cinema is back," which could either be a reference to the COVID-19 pandemic or the medium as a whole. Here's Friedkin's tweet as well as Krasinski's response. The sequel to Krasinski's sci-fi horror-thriller debuted in theaters yesterday for Memorial Day weekend, and it's quickly racking up a profit at the box office. Based on returns of $19.3 million during its premiere and $4.8 million during Thursday previews, the film is now positioned to gross $47.5 million in its first three days. Movies obviously aren't making as much as they would have before the pandemic, but A Quiet Place 2 is starting to show that, as Friedkin suggested, "Cinema is back." The definition of a "classic" horror movie has changed substantially since the 70s, as new filmmakers produce movies for the genre that either alter or reject its tropes with successful results. Krasinski's A Quiet Place films explore the simple idea of silence to induce fear in his audiences, something that legendary horror author Stephen King has also praised Krasinski for. A Quiet Place 2's post-apocalyptic setting, alien threat, and minimal dialogue may differ from other films in the horror genre on a stylistic level, but the movie's essential goal of scaring viewers is pure horror.
  6. Actor and filmmaker John Krasinski has responded publicly to the praise that famed novelist Stephen King had for his 2018 film, A Quiet Place. The sci-fi horror thriller marked the third directorial outing for Krasinski, by far becoming his most critically and financially successful film. Earning over $300 million on a $17 million budget, A Quiet Place helped prove that small films can still be big hits and that Krasinski is a filmmaker worth paying attention to. The film’s premise revolves around a point in the not-so-distant future in which an alien species has decimated Earth’s population. The creatures use sound to find and kill their prey, forcing the cast of characters, a family that features Krasinski and real-life spouse Emily Blunt as parents, to either whisper or not speak at all. It’s a very simple-sounding concept for a film, and yet it works extremely well. Viewers are thrown into a tense environment straight from the start, and it’s this tension that keeps the entire momentum of the film moving so smoothly. Krasinski found creative ways to have his characters exist in a world rendered silent, and fans have been especially eager to see how many more challenging obstacles the characters have to face in the sequel. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW RELATED:A Quiet Place Complete Timeline Explained One particularly vocal fan of A Quiet Place has been horror icon Stephen King. Shortly after the film was released, King used social media to let the world know how much he loved the film and its use of silence to instill fear in viewers. Any horror filmmaker would feel honored to have someone of King’s stature praise their work, but King went further - exchanging emails with Krasinski and even offering the former Office star his Boston Red Sox tickets. While speaking with CinemaBlend recently, however, Krasinski explained how much it meant to him to receive praise from King. What I think about his writing is he is always ‘world’ first, he's always ‘characters’ first. He really puts you in that vibe. So anyway, the first movie was so overwhelming-- the response to it. But him in particular. Being from Boston, being a fan of his, he not only was incredibly kind publicly, but then we had an email exchange where he was very specific about what he loved about the movie and I was completely and totally blown away. I have not taken him up on his Red Sox tickets, but I will definitely do that someday. Over the years, King has earned a somewhat notorious reputation for being very specific when it comes to the type of horror he enjoys. This degree of specificity has typically been reserved for rejecting adaptations of his own stories, such as Firestarter, The Running Man, and most famously, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. And while King’s objections regarding the aforementioned titles might seem like nit-picking to some, the fact of the matter is that as one of the biggest-selling authors of all time, his opinion matters. This is especially true if you happen to be a young filmmaker dealing with your first major hit. Since A Quiet Place Part II has just been released, it’s hard to say just how well it will perform compared with the first film. The safe bet is that it will be another hit for Krasinski, whose friendly relationship with King might just end up creating future opportunities. After all, what fan of King’s wouldn’t love to see the tension and scares that Krasinski achieved in A Quiet Place in an adaptation of one of King’s books? It’s not such a far-fetched possibility for Krasinski, whose filmmaking career keeps getting stronger.
  7. Black Widow star David Harbour posts a candid Instagram photo of the cast while taking a quick break from filming. Slated for a summer release, the upcoming Marvel movie follows titular protagonist Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) as she unexpectedly reunites with central figures from her past. The solo film focuses on an excursion she took after the events of the 2016 Captain America: Civil War and takes place a few years before her death in Avengers: Endgame. In Black Widow, a star-studded group of actors rounds out the rest of the cast, including Harbour, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, O-T Fagbenle, William Hurt, and Ray Winstone. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW After being delayed multiple times, Black Widow is finally being released in just a few months. While some productions took advantage of release date delays to tweak their movies, Black Widow has been completely finished for a year. With the original release date set for May 2020, Marvel had already released a ton of marketing material and BTS looks at the film. Marvel likely won't give much more away before Black Widow's release in July, but that hasn't stopped the cast from sharing their own pictures taken on set. RELATED: Black Widow: Who Is Playing Taskmaster? On Instagram, Harbour shared a silly behind-the-scenes picture of him goofing around with Pugh and Johansson. Calling it the “definitive monologue of each of our characters,” he spotlighted the light-hearted camaraderie among the key cast. Check out the image below: The forthcoming Black Widow film is a hotly-anticipated addition to the MCU. For years, viewers have called for a solo film exploring the backstory of the iconic Black Widow, and many have openly wondered why such a movie is finally being released after her shocking demise in Avengers: Endgame. Despite these concerns, Black Widow endures as a much-beloved figure in the MCU, and there are still many mysteries surrounding her origin story. Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff was a critical member of the Avengers, and her death shocked and troubled many viewers hoping to know more about her history and to see her flourish in the future. In the trailer of the new film, Harbour’s Red Guardian notably calls his unexpected meeting with Natasha, Yelena Belova (Pugh), and Melina Vostokoff (Weisz) a “family reunion,” setting up a story that will dive into the origins of Natasha’s family tree, as well as the events that transformed her into the deadly Black Widow. While this will be further explored in Black Widow, the above image makes it clear that the cast created a strong bond throughout filming as well.
  8. Ryan Reynolds joins the long list of people who have seen and raved about John Krasinski's A Quiet Place Part II. The 44-year-old actor is known for starring in big blockbuster movies such as Deadpool and Detective Pikachu. While he isn't involved in creating the post-apocalyptic horror film, Reynolds is friends with Krasinski. At one point, the two Hollywood A-listers were even reported to be teaming up to create a comedy film together. A Quiet Place Part II follows the story of the Abbott family as they try to survive and outsmart the blind and sound-sensitive aliens that have overtaken the planet. After losing their father (Krasinski) and home in the first movie, the remaining family members must venture out to search for other human survivors and a safer place. Written and directed by Krasinski, the film stars his wife Emily Blunt. The highly anticipated sequel was supposed to hit theaters last year but was heavily delayed due to the pandemic. It was finally released on Friday, May 28. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW RELATED: A Quiet Place Complete Timeline Explained Reynolds is among the early birds who saw A Quiet Place Part II on the day of its big release. After watching the thriller, the actor jumped on Twitter to praise Krasinski's work. Known for his hilarious quips on social media, Reynolds gave his honest review by playing around with the movie's title. According to him, the sequel is so good that he can't be "silent" about it. Krasinski returned the joke by replying with an image of Deadpool doing the "shush" sign. Check out their playful exchange below: Obviously, Reynolds is a fan of Krasinki's horror saga. The two actors also enjoyed a good-humored banter on Twitter three years ago, when the first A Quiet Place movie came out. That time, he called Krasinski and Blunt his "new parents" and revealed that he saw the movie twice in one week. Krasinski acknowledged his tweet and replied in jest. Reynolds isn't the first celebrity to sing praises over A Quiet Place Part II, and he certainly won't be the last. Within the short time that it's been released, the film has already drawn positive reviews from moviegoers and critics alike. Its success is a great win not just for Krasinski, but also for the pandemic-hit entertainment industry. Amid lockdown restrictions, film companies were forced to release movies via streaming platforms. A Quiet Place Part II is one of the first movies to enjoy a theater run, just as cinemas are starting to fill seats again. Over the last few weeks, Krasinski has been actively promoting A Quiet Place Part II using the hashtag "TheatersAreBack" on social media. Thanks to a good horror movie and with a little help from his famous friends, it seems the industry is on a good track.
  9. With A Quiet Place Part II fresh in theaters, director John Krasinski has already revealed that the next Quiet Place movie script has been written. Premiering back in 2018, the first A Quiet Place film proved to be a massive success, earning $340 million at the box office worldwide. It quickly became apparent that Paramount had a new franchise on their hands, which paved the way for the next film in the series. Originally planned to release in the spring of 2020, A Quiet Place Part II was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film finally opened Memorial Day weekend 2021 with a projected box office gross of $57 million in just four days, which is a massive achievement in these pandemic-era times. Reprising their roles from the first film, the new film stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe as they navigate a post-apocalyptic world infested by blind creatures that have an acute sense of hearing. Despite the delays in releasing A Quiet Place Part II, it seems that the creative team isn't slowing down in developing further installments. Continue Scrolling To Keep ReadingClick the button below to start this article in quick view. START NOW RELATED:What To Expect From A Quiet Place 3 As seen in a tweet from Fandango Editor Erik Davis, during an episode of TwitterSpaces, Krasinski revealed that writer-director Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) has already written and handed in the script for the next Quiet Place movie. While referred to as "part three," Krasinski wouldn't offer up further details as to who the film's focus will be or if it will continue the same storyline of the previous two films. Back in November of 2020, Paramount announced plans for a new movie in the Quiet Place universe. The studio pegged Nichols to helm the project, which is based on an original idea by Krasinski. While the studio has set a 2022 release date for the film, further details are not known at this time; however, the studio has continuously referred to the project as the third movie in the franchise, which could very well mean that the script Krasinski is referring to above is for the Nichols spinoff film as opposed to a direct sequel to the previous Quiet Place movies. While not much is known at this time about the third Quiet Place film, it's clear that the studio does in fact have plans to continue the franchise. Whether a direct sequel or spinoff, based on the critical and commercial success the first two movies have received, there is a good chance that the third movie will do well. Though this will be the most high-profile feature Nichols has helmed, he has been handed a strong foundation on which to build a compelling film.
  10. Star Brie Larson showed off her real-life superhero tenacity by executing a series of one-arm pull-ups while training for Captain Marvel 2 (a.k.a The Marvels). Larson's character was teased by Nick Fury in post-credits scene before bursting into the MCU via 2019's Captain Marvel. Based on Roy Thomas and Gene Colan's creation, the 90s-set prequel explored the superhero origin story of Carol Danvers amid an intergalatic war between Kree and Skrulls. She later returned in present day, officially joining forces with the titular team in Avengers: Endgame and helping to defeat Thanos and his forces once and for all. Earning over $1 billion at the box office, a solo sequel was rapidly greenlit. Earlier in 2021, however, it was revealed to have undergone a title change. Now named The Marvels, it would see Carol team-up with a Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan (a.k.a. Ms. Marvel) and Teyonah Parris' now grown-up Monica Rambeau. The former will make her on-screen debut later on in the year courtesy of the same-titled Disney+ series Ms. Marvel . The latter, meanwhile, debuted to widespread acclaim in WandaVision — which saw her gain superpowers of her own and, in the wake of the event known as The Blip, hinted at some animosity regarding her former idol. RELATED:Captain Marvel 2 Must Avoid The MCU’s Spider-Man Problem While some could use that as an excuse to coast, Larson has poured her all into preparations for the film. The actress has already documented much of her training efforts in the recent weeks. Taking to Twitter, however, things were taken to a whole new level. Posting a video, the Captain Marvel star revealed that she'd accomplished a goal to execute a one-arm pull-up. Spurred on by her personal trainer, Larson actually hit that target three times over before dancing giddily in celebration. Check out the full video below: Captain Marvel's debut adventure was written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. It was confirmed, however, that the duo wouldn't return for the sequel. Instead, Nia DaCosta was announced as taking over directorial duties. She will work from a script by Megan McDonnell. Details have remained predictably scarce regarding Captain Marvel 2's plot that was set up in the WandaVision post-credits. That will no doubt change in the coming months, though, especially with principal photography beginning in at the end of May. Larson displayed similar commitment to training ahead of Captain Marvel. Not wanting to merely rely on CGI and camera-trickery, she went to such extremes as pulling a car and more. The efforts ultimately paid off, with the actress embodying a superhero as much behind the scenes as on-screen. For the sequel, Larson clearly wanted to improve upon the considerable success of the past. Based on the nearly 30,000 likes the video has amassed, her dedication has already been widely applauded and will no doubt be even more so in the coming days. It has remained unclear which villain Zawe Ashton will play in Captain Marvel 2 (a.k.a. The Marvels). Whatever the case, Larson will no doubt be ready to deal with whatever challenges they (and the film itself) will serve up — both on-and-off-screen
  11. Mark Wahlberg remembers his past lives in the first trailer for his new action movie Infinite. Over the last several years, Mark Wahlberg has become a veteran of the action movie genre. He's starred in real-life-inspired adventures like Deepwater Horizon, joined the Transformers franchise for two installments, and launched new original franchise attempts like Mile 22 and Spenser Confidential. Wahlberg's latest effort to show what he can bring to the genre pairs him up with director Antoine Fuqua for Infinite. Originally set to star Chris Evans, Wahlberg eventually joined Infinite to work with Fuqua in adapting D. Eric Maikranz's novel The Reincarnationist Papers. The movie features a great cast of action movie veterans ranging from Maze Runner's Dylan O'Brien, Doctor Strange's Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Kingsman's Sophie Cookson. After completing filming in 2019, Paramount Pictures planned to release Infinite in theaters in the summer of 2020 and hopefully see it become a new franchise. These plans changed substantially due to COVID-19, and will now see the movie skip theaters for a Paramount+ release. RELATED: How To Get Paramount+ For Free Paramount didn't get a chance to release an Infinite trailer prior to delaying the movie to 2021. Now that the release plan for the movie is confirmed, the studio has started its marketing campaign at long last. Paramount finally released the first trailer for Infinite that offers the first look at Mark Wahlberg's action movie. The two-and-a-half-minute trailer shows Wahlberg as Evan McCauley and beginning to remember his past lives. Infinite will release exclusively on Paramount+ on June 10, 2021. The majority of Infinite's trailer focuses on the interrogation between Chiwetel Ejiofor's character and Wahlberg's McCauley. It isn't until the end of this moment that McCauley begins to remember his past lives by seeing artifacts that he has history with. However, it appears that Ejiofor is the villain of the movie and that McCauley is rescued by a group of others with memories of their past lives, known as the Infinites. Possibly the biggest surprise of Infinite's trailer is just how little action is actually featured. The jail-break sequence where McCauley escapes from Ejiofor's character is the biggest set-piece shown. There is sure to be more than a few car chases when it comes to Infinite's action, and Wahlberg holding a sword near the end could be a tease of what else the movie might include. Fuqua has plenty of experience directing various types of action scenes and Wahlberg is no stranger to performing them either. Paramount could be waiting to reveal more of the action for a second trailer. With Infinite moving exclusively to Paramount+, it'll need to be a huge hit for the streaming service if this is going to become more than a standalone story.
  12. Next-generation consoles will get a new 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game next year, after Sega teased the prospect on Thursday. The trailer for the as-yet-unnamed game sees the fearless blue hero running through a forest, leaving a trail of digital effects behind him. Recommended Recommended by It then cuts to what appears to be a runic-style shape before "2022" appears on screen. Image:Mysterious runic-shapes appear at the end of the trailer. Pic: Sega Sonic Teams is behind the new game, who has previously produced Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces, and it will get a release on new consoles the PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, as well as PS4, Xbox One and PC. 3D Sonic games such as Forces and Boom were widely panned when they were released, with reviewers and gamers complaining the titles were forgettable with a questionable storyline, so Sega will be looking to get fans back on board with its latest offering. However, there remains an appetite for content from the world's favourite quick-footed spiky mammal, with Sega also announcing more games, shows and films at its Sonic Central Stream. The retro game developer will also remaster Sonic Colours: Ultimate, its 2010 game, for PS4, Switch, PC and Xbox One, as well as release a compilation of the original series which will include Sonic The Hedgehog and its subsequent sequels.
