  11. Anthony Mackie revealed that he has a great idea for a sequel to Real Steel as the movie hits its 10th anniversary. Everyone remembers when Hugh Jackman appeared in Real Steel back in 2011 and didn't exactly set the box office alight, however like so many movies that were not exactly blockbusters at the time of release, Real Steel found a new audience on Netflix during the pandemic, with many people finding the movie for the first time and pushing it into the streamer's top ten tending movies. When the cast reunited to discuss the movie for the 10th anniversary this month, Anthony Mackie revealed how he came to be in the movie, and also discussed with Entertainment Weekly his ideas of what a sequel could look like. With many fans of the movie calling for a sequel on social media, which seems to be the go-to place to campaign for any film-related requests, the new Captain America's thoughts on the possibility of a second round will only serve to fan the flames even more. "He offered me the part with the idea of the part growing throughout the scope of the movie and hopefully the series - because I was like, 'Man, we could do part 2. We could do part 10.' I wanted it to be like the Fast and the Furiousseries," Anthony Mackie recalled. "I was coming from another job, so I came in late. [The cast] already had their little start party, and people had made friends, and I was the new dude in the tight pants who was just trying to fit in. I like being the latter inductee into the crew because actors like Hugh really set a precedent for the camaraderie on set. It really opened the door for me to just relax and be myself. And being in Detroit, I knew so many people there and so many extras who were working on the movie. Even some of the crew I knew. When it comes to a sequel, Mackie admitted that he has always wanted to go back to the world of Real Steel again. "I've always advocated for a sequel. If they can do a sequel of other movies with robots boxing, they can definitely do a sequel to this movie just simply because the first one worked so much. If nothing else, even if you lose money on a movie, you'll make a billion dollars on the toys. So just do the movie just so you can sell the toys. It's a great business opportunity. I'm sure Dakota is 20-something years old. Him being a kid and showing the relationship with his dad is kind of out the window. But it's funny, I think the possibilities are endless." He adds, "I always thought about the idea of going to the underground world and seeing what the reality is. The underground boxing circuit is so different than that last fight with all the glitz and the glam and the polish. I feel like you can do a Mad Max meets Real Steel, and I could be Tina Turner. It would be hilarious to show him coming back as a grown adult now and he's a successful businessman and he doesn't have time for robot boxing. That's for kids. And he falls back in love with robot boxing and realizes that life is happier when you're not stressed with work. I think that would be a great storyline." Mackie isn't the only one who would like to see Real Steel return, as director Shawn Levy recently discussed how he would love to go back to the movie and do Real Steel 2 when he spoke to Inverse about the Ryan Reynolds movie, Free Guy. "It has been in my mind and in conversation a lot lately," Levy explained to Inverse. "Maybe because of the fact that when Netflix started streaming it during the lockdown, it became one of their top trending and most-viewed titles. Which led to Hugh and I talking again about, 'What is this love for Real Steel?' Kind of this realization that, 'Well wait, we love it that much too.' We've always loved it that much too. It's one of those never say nevers, it feels like the clock has run out on that window of opportunity. It feels like that fan-love and that audience hasn't gone away. So, who knows?" Although it is the 10th anniversary now, Real Steel has dropped off Netflix for now, but surely with a lot of attention being drawn to it, it will not be too long before it returns to throw a few more metallic punches. This comes to us from Entertainment Weekly.
  12. The Hellraiser reboot has confirmed The L Word's Jamie Clayton will be playing a female Pinhead and fans are loving the return to the source material. Gender-swapping long-time male characters is nothing new, and in most cases unwelcome among fans of popular and iconic franchises, so there are probably some expecting uproar at the news that Jamie Clayton, star of The L Word: Generation Q, will be taking over the role of Cenobite priest Pinhead in the Hellraiser reboot based on Clive Barker's Hellraiser. However, many fans have really taken to the announcement, which came on the back of filming on the movie wrapping up as it aims to arrive on Hulu sometime next year. Hellraiser was originally released in 1987 and brought Barker's short story The Hellbound Heart to screens. The movie brought to life the horrific tale of the Lament puzzlebox, a device that could open up a gateway to a dimension where the Cenobites dwell and await those seeking out levels of pleasure that can only be achieved by the levels of torture that they live by. Although not named in the original story or movie, Doug Bradley brought Pinhead to life in a way that instantly created a cinematic monster that would join the likes of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees in the horror hall of fame. The franchise suffered, as many horror series do, of being stretched to the point of becoming a badly drawn shadow of itself, with multiple sequels being churned out thanks to previously signed contracts, and eventually Barker entered a legal battle to regain the U.S. rights to his own franchise. When he won the case, which sees him get back the rights to what is his on December 19th this year, Barker then joined the new movie as producer and was quick to praise the new iteration of his characters. "Having seen some of the designs from David Bruckner's new Hellraiser film, they pay homage to what the first film created, but then take it to places it's never been before," he said. "This is a Hellraiser on a scale that I simply didn't expect. David and his team are steeped in the story's mythology, but what excites me is their desire to honour the original even as they revolutionize it for a new generation." As well as Jamie Clayton taking over the role of the lead Cenobite, the cast also includes Odessa A'zion, Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Goran Visnjic (The Boys), Drew Starkey, Adam Faison (Everything's Gonna Be Okay), Aoife Hinds (Normal People), Hiam Abbass (Succession) and Selina Lo (Boss Level). David Brucker is directing, with the screenplay being adapted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski from a story by David S. Goyer, who also produces. Unlike many gender-swaps in well-loved franchises, there is a good reason why fans of Barker's original characters are happy with the change from Doug Bradley's male Cenobite. As said, the original film had Pinhead listed as simply lead Cenobite and despite being cast as a male role, the Cenobites themselves are pretty much devoid of gender in Barker's original story, so although we have been used to Bradley's portrayal in numerous movies it is not like swapping a character like Michael Myers, Freddy or Jason. It seems that many fans have noted this already and are more than happy with the change. "Great news for horror by honoring Clive's original vision, bad news for bros who still haven't figured out that Pinhead has always been free of gender and the binary," said one Twitter user. Another commented, "Well, Pinhead was a woman in the original stage play version The Hellbound Heart, so this is VERY exciting!" A third echoed the sentiment, saying, "This is so incredibly cool! In the original novella The Hellbound Heart, the character who would become Pinhead was of unknown gender with a feminine, melodic voice. If anti-SJW dudes are gonna get buttmad, then they're just showing they have no clue about the source material." Of the numerous remakes and reboots currently in production, Hellraiser is seemingly one of the better ones and has many things going for it. While there is no premiere date currently set, the film is expected to arrive in 2022 so expect more updates on the film relatively soon. It is set for a debut on Hulu.
  13. Filming has begun on Netflix sequel Enola Holmes 2, and once again stars Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes alongside Millie Bobby Brown. Henry Cavill's return as renowned private detective and legendary literary character Sherlock Holmes has officially begun, as the actor is spotted filming scenes for upcoming Netflix sequel Enola Holmes 2. The Man of Steel star was seen sporting the same long, black trench coat, curly hair and steely gaze as in the first outing, with Cavill expected to once again play a supporting role in proceedings alongside Millie Bobby Brown as the titular character and movie's lead. The first Enola Holmes introduced audiences to the lesser-known Holmes sister in an adaptation of the mystery-thriller book series of the same name, written by Nancy Springer. The story chronicles the adventures of Sherlock Holmes' (Henry Cavill) younger sister Enola (Millie Bobby Brown), who, when her mother disappears, decides to become a super-sleuth in her own right. Running away to London where she establishes a clandestine private detective career specializing in missing person investigations, Enola must also keep ahead of her brothers who are determined to capture and force her to conform to their expectations. Directed by Harry Bradbeer from a screenplay by Jack Thorne, Enola Holmesstars the likes of Sam Claflin, Helena Bonham Carter, Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, Adeel Akhtar, Susie Wokoma, Hattie Morahan, and David Bamber alongside Brown, Cavill and Partridge. The first adventure for the Holmes sibling proved to be hugely popular with Netflix viewers, quickly becoming the most watched movie on the platform and achieving the biggest first day opening for a Netflix title in 2020, as well as dominating the largest number of Netflix's monitored countries with a viewership of 78 million. With numbers that impressive, it's no wonder the streaming giant has pressed ahead so swiftly with a sequel. Joining Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Enola Holmes 2 will also once again feature Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown as the extremely intelligent, observant and insightful Enola Holmes, her partner-in-crime and potential love interest Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge, and Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, the eccentric, free-spirited matriarch of the Holmes family. One character who has not yet been confirmed to return is the other Holmes sibling, Mycroft. Played in the first movie by Sam Claflin, the actor has previously stated his desire to return saying, "It's not in my hands, but I'd definitely be open to another one. I had a lot of fun doing it. There's material there - and I'm always wanting more work, so my door is always open." Outside of the mystery-filled world of the Holmes', Henry Cavill has been busy bringing back another beloved character for Netflix, that of The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia. The first season of Netflix hit fantasy series introduced audiences to Geralt, Crown Princess Ciri, and the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg at different points of time, exploring formative events that shaped their characters. The Witcher season 2 is due for release on December 17, 2021, and will bring several new characters into the fray, including fan-favorite Witcher trainer Vesemir, played by Killing Eve's Kim Bodnia.
