  1. Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill and supermodel Lily Aldridge are expecting their second child. The Victoria's Secret beauty has taken to Instagram to share the happy news, showing off a photo of herself wearing a bikini on the beach, with her burgeoning bump on full display. "SURPRISE," she captioned the shot. Lily didn't offer up any further details about her pregnancy, but the child will be a sibling for the couple's daughter Dixie, six. She and rocker Caleb wed in 2011. The mother-to-be's fellow models have been quick to share their joy at the news, with Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Adriana Lima, Irina Shayk, Sara Sampaio, and Winnie Harlow among the many well wishers. "Congrats!!!" posted Kate Upton, who is expecting her first child with her baseball ace husband Justin Verlander, while Kendall Jenner wrote, "yayyyyyyy". "LILLLLLY!!!! congrats beautiful mama!!" commented Chrissy Teigen, who gave birth to son Miles, her second kid with singer John Legend, in May (18). "So excited for you mama lily!!!!!" shared her newly-engaged pal Karlie Kloss, as Joan Smalls added, "Omg (oh my god)!!!!!! congrats". There were also celebratory messages from Lily's other Hollywood pals, including Julianne Hough, Alanna Masterson, Uzo Aduba, Nick Jonas, and Gwyneth Paltrow, who exclaimed, "WOAH!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!" Lily's big announcement came just days after she shared a snap from a night out with Karlie and Candice Swanepoel, who recently became a mum-of-two. "Date Night," she captioned the picture of the three stunners. "A night of celebration." Swanepoel posted the same image on her Instagram page, and gushed, "So much to celebrate! Love you girls! Aaand (sic) boys."
  2. Demi Lovato's back-up dancer and friend has denied rumours she supplied the singer with the drugs that caused her reported overdose. The Confident singer was hospitalised last month (Jul18) after being found unconscious at her Hollywood Hills home following a suspected drug overdose and has since been recovering in rehab. In an emotional essay shared on Instagram, Dani Vitale cleared up rumours circulating on social media that she provided the singer with drugs. "I have NEVER touched nor even SEEN a drug in my entire life," the 28-year-old dancer fired. "I DO NOT DO DRUGS, nor would I ever encourage, or supply them to anyone I love." Vitale said she was out celebrating her birthday with friends on 23 July, and woke up the next morning to a call telling her about Lovato's suspected overdose. "My whole being was ridden with sadness, confusion, love and hopelessness," she wrote. Once rumours began suggesting that Vitale was responsible for the troubled singer's relapse, she confessed she was "riddled with severe depression", and did not leave her house for three weeks. "After days of countless nights not being able to sleep, or waking up in a full sweat and soaking in my own tears, I was forced to put my phone in a dresser drawer," Vitale continued. "Terrified to open a blind or to get out of bed, my house remained just as dark as my mind daily." Vitale revealed she lost work in the aftermath of the rumours, and lost contact with friends. "The circulation of an UNTRUE story on the internet yanked my life, my reputation, my name and everything I have worked so hard to stand for, out from underneath me. This UNTRUE narrative is damaging innocent people's lives, mine included. We are so quick to point the finger with little to ZERO facts at all," she said. Lovato opened up about her suspected overdose after being discharged from hospital, and assured family, friends and fans that she would "keep fighting".
  3. Sophie Turner and her fiance Joe Jonas have publicly welcomed Priyanka Chopra into the family following her engagement to Nick Jonas. Priyanka, 36, and Nick finally confirmed their engagement with matching posts on Instagram on Saturday (18Aug18), and Sophie, who got engaged to Nick's older brother Joe in October (17), took to Instagram to congratulate the couple. "First I'm blessed with an incredible future brother-in-law, and now such (a) beautiful, inside and out, future sister-in-law," the 22-year-old Game of Thrones star captioned the official engagement snap of Nick and Priyanka. "I'm so excited to welcome you into the family @priyankachopra . I love you both @nickjonas." Nick's big brother Joe also congratulated the couple, and posted on Twitter and Instagram: "I couldn't be happier for my brother. Welcome to the family @priyankachopra We love you." It was reported that Nick had shut down exclusive jewellery store Tiffany and Co. while in London to buy the stunning engagement ring. The singer and actor then popped the question while celebrating Priyanka's 36th birthday in the city. And Nick's father, Kevin Sr., also congratulated the couple on their engagement, after he flew to India with wife Denise to meet his future daughter-in-law's family. "So happy for the engagement of our son @nickjonas and we welcome @priyankachopra into our family with love and excitement," he wrote on Instagram. In their engagement announcement, Nick wrote, "Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love," alongside a sweet snap of the couple embracing, with the Quantico star's huge diamond ring on show. Priyanka shared the same image, and swooned: "Taken.. With all my heart and soul."
  4. Michael Buble fell in love with his wife again after their son beat cancer. The Canadian crooner and Luisana Lopilato announced in 2016 that toddler Noah had been diagnosed with liver cancer. The youngster, now four, made a full recovery from the life-threatening illness after undergoing surgeries and gruelling treatments, and last month (Jul18), Buble and Lopilato welcomed their third child, daughter Vida Amber Betty. In a new interview with Australia's Stellar Magazine, the 42-year-old confessed his life had dramatically changed for the better. "Food never tasted so good, music never sounded so good, my relationship with my family... all of it," he explained. "My wife and I, we got happy, we fell in love again," he added, revealing that Noah's cancer battle made them see "the very worst and also the best of each other." While the couple, who are also parents to two-year-old son Elias, weren't sure they wanted to expand their brood, the Feeling Good hitmaker admitted that there was "so much happiness" when the model and actress fell pregnant. "I knew my wife wanted to have a girl. That was huge for her. After the doctor told us I said, 'Lu, it's a girl!,' she was shrieking. We want a big family - I don't think we're even going to stop there," he added. After the traumatic experience of Noah beating cancer, Buble said he lives with "no fear", and is determined to put his family before his career. "I've got a very clear perspective now, one that I didn't have before," he explained. "Things got very clear for me, very quickly. I live with no fear now. I've been to hell. I see my career differently now - as this wonderful bonus on top of a life that is already fulfilled." And Lopilato, 31, has been tasked with keeping her husband's feet firmly on the ground. "It's going to be something I need to remind myself. I told my wife, 'Hey kid, keep me grounded. If you see me losing my way, remind me what's important.' Family comes first. In the scheme of everything, the health of my children is number one," he added.
  5. Can you hear the celebrations, Fernando? The Motion Picture Cast Recording to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart for a fourth week. Four weeks ties Here We Go Again with Les Miserables as the second longest-reigning spell at Number 1 for a Motion Picture Cast Recording in recent times, behind The Greatest Showman's staggering 21 weeks. The latter holds firm at Number 2 on today's chart. Drake's Scorpion (3) and George Ezra's Staying at Tamara's (4) both climb one place, ahead of Nicki Minaj's Queen, this week's highest new entry at Number 5. Miles Kane matches his personal best on the Official Chart with his third album Coup de Grace, new at 8, plus Elvis Presley claims his 53rd UK Top 10 album with Where No One Stands Alone at Number 9. Il Divo's anniversary album Timeless scores them a 10th UK Top 20 album at 13, The Coral are just behind at 14 and claim their ninth Top 20 record with Move Through The Dawn. Trippie Redd's Life's A Trip lands at 18, Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears impacts at 20 with his self-titled solo debut, and Brighton rockers As It Is earn their first Top 40 with The Great Depression at 29. Finally, just three weeks after its release, the landmark 100th edition of NOW That’s What I Call Music! notches up at third week at Number 1 on the Official Compilations Chart. NOW 100 has sold 324,000 copies in total, making it BRIT-certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). It’s the first album this year to achieve Platinum status (over 300,000 sales) in under a month. The last album to reach the feat that quickly was NOW 98 last December, also in three weeks, while Ed Sheeran’s Divide was certified Platinum after its first week on sale in March 2017.
  6. Persistence has paid off for George Ezra, who after four weeks of being stuck behind Drake, has returned to Number 1. Originally a two-week chart-topper in early July, Shotgun is back at the top of the Official Singles Chart, pushing Drake's In My Feelings down to Number 2. The most streamed and downloaded song of the week, Shotgun is one of only four songs in the last two years to go back to Number 1, including Ed Sheeran's Shape of You, Luis Fonsi's Despacito, and the song that originally knocked Shotgun from the top, Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds’ Three Lions which triumphantly returned to the top during this summer’s World Cup. Elsewhere in the Top 5, DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo hold at Number 3 with No Brainer, and Eastside by Benny Blanco, Halsey and Khalid leaps eight spots to Number 4. There's one more ascent in this week's Top 10 as Loud Luxury rise two to Number 6 with Body ft. Brando, a new peak. Jax Jones' Ring Ring ft. Mabel and Rich the Kid hits a new high of 13 this week, one place ahead of Cheat Codes & Little Mix - Only You has recorded its best position to date at 14. Big jumps are recorded for Dennis Lloyd's Nevermind (19), Martin Garrix & Khalid's Ocean (25), and B Young's 079ME (28), plus Nicki Minaj records two songs in this week's Top 40; Bed ft. There's another new entry for David Guetta & Anne-Marie; Don't Leave Me Alone becomes David's 37th UK Top 40 single at Number 37. Finally, ABBA's When I Kissed The Teacher becomes a Top 40 hit for the first time, sung by Lily James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alexa Davies and Celia Imrie. Taken from Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the song is new at Number 40.
  7. Hailey Baldwin has reportedly become "overwhelmed" by the speed of her marriage plans to Justin Bieber. The fashion model and the music star first dated in late 2015 but reconciled in May (18), with the pair announcing their engagement in July. However, Hailey and Justin, 24, were pictured looking upset and emotional in various locations in New York earlier this month, with it now speculated that the 21-year-old is struggling with the pace of their romance. "Hailey is overwhelmed by how quickly the marriage plans are taking shape," a source told Grazia magazine. "Justin was really upset to see her express some doubts." In addition, it has been reported that Justin is putting "immense pressure" on himself to have a successful marriage, as his parents split when he was just 13 months old. The Sorry hitmaker referenced his parents' relationship when he confirmed his surprise engagement on Instagram and he is apparently studying faith-based book The Meaning of Marriage by Timothy Keller for tips on how to create a stable environment for himself and his fiancee. "He wants this marriage to work more than anything," the insider continued. "As well as reading the book, he's been studying relevant Bible verses and sharing them with Hailey." The young stars rekindled their romance shortly after Justin split from on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez. Accordingly, friends of the Adidas Originals ambassador are also concerned that she may have rushed into a serious relationship but are hopeful the couple can work out their differences. "There's no doubt they're in love, but there seems to be warning signs that it could all implode if they're not on the same page," another source added.
  8. Entertainer Nick Cannon is planning to continue his higher education so he can obtain a doctorate and become a professor. The rapper, actor, and TV personality is currently enrolled as a student at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he is working towards a bachelor's degree, but he reveals his school return won't be over once he graduates, and he hopes to use his further education to give back to his community. "I'd like to do more work in the community, and I'll probably become a professor," he tells syndicated columnist Allison Kugel. Nick isn't sure what he would eventually like to study for his PhD, but the idea of teaching others what he's learned further down the line really appeals to him. "Right now, I'm studying criminology, but I'm also studying in the School of Divinity; and I'm in the School of Communications," he says. "Obviously, I'm in the field of communications. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the media and (media) content, so you never know. I feel that if I can put all those things together, whether it's Sociology (or) Criminology, these are the things that are prevalent to me at the moment." And eventually, Mariah Carey's ex-husband is open to writing his own book - although it won't be anytime soon. "People are always like, 'Man, when are you going to write a book?'" the 37 year old shares. "I'm not ready to write a book, because it would just be one of those celebrity memoirs, which is fine, but I feel that I have so much more to offer than just to tell people my biography. "I feel like once I develop the skills that I'm researching and accomplishing with academia, then I'll really have something to say. At this point, I'm gathering a wealth of knowledge so that when it is time to spit it back out, it's valid in a strong way."
  9. Nick Jonas has finally confirmed his engagement to Priyanka Chopra by introducing her as the "Future Mrs. Jonas". The 25 year old was widely reported to have proposed to Priyanka in late July (18) after just two months of dating, and while the Baywatch star flashed what appeared to be her engagement ring on social media earlier this week (begs13Aug18), neither of them had commented directly on their relationship status - until now. On Saturday (18Aug18), two days after he arrived in India with his parents to meet his fiancee's family, Nick took to Instagram to share a sweet snap of the couple embracing and lovingly gazing at one another, with Priyanka resting her hand on his chest, putting her stunning diamond ring on display. "Future Mrs. Jonas," he captioned the photo. "My heart. My love." Priyanka, 36, posted the same image on her Instagram page, and gushed, "Taken... With all my heart and soul." The picture they both uploaded seemed to have been flipped as the engagement ring, which is typically worn on the ring finger of the left hand, was featured on the actress' right hand in the shot. The snap was taken as the couple celebrated at an engagement party hosted by the bride-to-be's relatives in Mumbai, where Priyanka wore a traditional yellow sari with white embroidery, and Nick donned a white tunic. Priyanka also shared a series of other photos from the bash, including one of the pair posing together with Nick's mum Denise and dad Kevin Sr., and her mother Madhu, and brother Siddharth. Priyanka's father, Ashok, died in 2013. Another shot featured the stars taking part in a Hindu prayer ceremony. "The only way to do this... with Family and God," the former Miss World wrote beside the images. "Thank you all for your wishes and blessings".
  10. Nicki Minaj was forced to pull the plug on a collaboration with Drake for her new album Queen. The 35-year-old rapper teamed up with Ariana Grande, Eminem and Lil Wayne for her new album, which was released earlier this month (Aug18). However, Nicki had to cancel on the In My Feelings hitmaker after their work schedules prevented them from having any time together in the studio. During an interview with The Whoolywood Shuffle on Eminem's SiriusXM channel, Shade 45, on Friday (17Aug18), the Anaconda rapper revealed she had a song with Drake that was hours away from appearing on Queen. "Drake and I were working on something, but I didn't want to change the date of the album," she explained. "So about two days before I had to turn it in, he and I had been going back and forth. And then even up until - I would say, within 12 hours of having to turn in my album, we were going back and forth." She revealed that it was Drake's commitment to his Aubrey & the Three Migos tour that eventually marked the end of their potential collaboration. "He had come to my studio, we found something that we really, really loved. But he was also going through that process of getting stuff right for his tour, and I had to understand that," Nicki said. "As an artist, I always try to put myself in the artist's shoes, and not try to be selfish." Despite enjoying teaming up with fellow artists for her music, the rapper, real name Onika Tanya Maraj, confessed that her own music has to be strong enough on its own, without any big names. "I stand on my own two feet. I always keep on reminding myself, 'Onika, when you were putting out your mixtapes, you ain't have no big name people to put on there,'" she continued. "It was me grinding, and if I have to do that again, so f**king be it. Nobody's going to make or break me. I'm going to do me."
  11. Ariana Grande burst into tears while discussing the "life-changing" terror attack at Manchester Arena in a radio interview on Friday (17Aug18). The No Tears Left to Cry hitmaker had just finished her concert at the venue on 22 May, 2017, when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device, killing 22 people and injuring more than 800. The 25-year-old was on Ebro Darden's show on Beats 1 Radio on Friday when she was quizzed about her track Get Well Soon from her new album, Sweetener, which had been released that day. Fans speculated that the song was a tribute to the Manchester victims, as it finishes with 40 seconds of silence to bring the track's running time to 5:22 - the date of the terrifying attack at the arena. Revealing that Get Well Soon was written to "give everyone a hug", she opened up about the impact the terror attack had on her life. "It changes your life quite a bit," Ariana explained, before beginning to cry. "You really want to be more present, and follow happy impulses, and figure it out later, you know? Just stay in the moment. "You try not to give into fear, because obviously (that's) the whole point of being here. That was the point of finishing the tour, it was to set an example for my fans. They're fearless enough to show up to the f**king show. Are you kidding? You want to set the same example," the choked-up singer added. "It's like people are permanently affected by this s**t and it's just like, perspective. It changes everything," Ariana said. The Side to Side hitmaker recently revealed she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following the attack, while her mother Joan Grande said her daughter "cried endlessly and barely spoke for two days".
  12. Cheryl’s friends are reportedly worried about her following news her ex Liam Payne has already moved on. One Direction star Liam, who has spent much of the last 18 months forging a solo career, and Cheryl welcomed their son Bear in March 2017, but decided to end things in July (18) after months of speculation surrounding their relationship. Liam, 24, has since been spotted out with American heiress Maya Henry and model Cairo Dwek, while 35-year-old Cheryl has thrown herself back into work, including her new gig as judge on Simon Cowell’s latest TV show The Greatest Dancer, alongside Matthew Morrison. “Her pals say Cheryl feels Liam has been living it up as single guy while she’s at home with Bear – yet she feels like she’s faced the biggest backlash,” an insider told Britain's Closer magazine. “Friends worry that Cheryl will find it hurtful to see Liam surrounded by lots of women so soon after their split. Maya also bears a resemblance to Cheryl, and her friends fear that similarity might make her friendship with Liam hard for Cheryl to take.” The insider also says Cheryl was left unamused by recent remarks Snoop Dogg made, where he offered to take the former boyband star out clubbing in Vegas and party with hot women to forget his troubles. “Snoop’s comments are annoying for Cheryl and also insensitive given how recently they split. No one wants to see their ex being publicly set up with other women, it’s humiliating,” the insider said.
  13. R. Kelly has been hit with a lawsuit by his former landlord over property damages. Bosses at SB Property Management Global, LLC filed the lawsuit earlier this week (ends17Aug18), claiming two properties he rented in Atlanta, Georgia in 2015, 2017, and 2018 had been wrecked. The I Believe I Can Fly hitmaker was evicted from the homes in February (18), after which building officials found "extensive damage (that was) beyond normal wear and tear". They are reportedly the same homes that were targeted by burglars last year (17). Authorities issued a warrant for one of the singer's associates, Alfonso Walker, in December after he was named as the brains behind the thefts in the Atlanta area over America's Thanksgiving holiday in late November, while the star was on tour. Walker surrendered to cops at Johns Creek Police Department in December, and was subsequently booked on two counts of burglary, two charges of theft by taking, and a further two for theft by deception. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Kelly and the property managers reached a settlement in April, in which he agreed to pay $170,000 (£133,500), which would release him from "claims arising from the damages". He reportedly paid $20,000 (£15,700) that same month, but allegedly failed to hand over the remaining balance. The property managers' lawyers sent a letter to Kelly demanding the outstanding sum in June, but it has yet to be paid. They are now seeking $203,400 (£159,800). Meanwhile, Kelly also rented a third property in the area, which was part of a 2017 investigation into accusations suggesting the 51-year-old was running a sex cult. The singer stands accused of manipulating several women into coercive sexual relationships from two sets of parents, who claimed he brainwashed their daughters and other women, and recorded his sexual encounters with them. Police officials paid a visit to the home after receiving the complaints, but did not take any further action. Kelly has previously denied all allegations against him, and one of the women, Joycelyn Savage, spoke out to dismiss her parents' claims.
  14. Pop star Nick Jonas has arrived in India with his parents to introduce them to the family of his new fiancee, Priyanka Chopra. The unlikely couple is rumoured to have become engaged in late July (18), just two months after the stars began dating, and on Thursday night (16Aug18), Nick, his father Kevin Sr., and his mother Denise were photographed touching down at an airport in Mumbai. Reports suggest the Baywatch actress' parents are hosting the Jonases for a planned party to celebrate Nick and Priyanka's romance, and the bride-to-be's future in-laws didn't go empty-handed - Kevin Sr. was spotted carrying a large shopping bag from Tiffany & Co., the same designer brand of her engagement ring. Her singer/actor beau is said to have closed down a Tiffany & Co. store in London so he could have some privacy while picking out the sparkler, which Priyanka appeared to show off on social media on Tuesday (14Aug18) as she posed for a photo with fellow Indian actress Raveena Tandon. In the snap, the pals pouted for the camera, as Priyanka wrapped her left arm around Raveena's neck, putting her massive cushion-cut diamond ring with tapered baguettes on full display. Meanwhile, the Bollywood beauty, 36, enjoyed a date night on Friday after being reunited with Nick, 25. They were pictured heading out for dinner at the luxury JW Marriott hotel in Mumbai, where Priyanka is currently shooting her new film, The Sky Is Pink. It's not Nick's first time in India - he and Priyanka travelled to her native country in June (18), when he met her mother Madhu and brother Siddharth. The trip occurred weeks after the Chains hitmaker attended his cousin's wedding in Atlantic City, New Jersey with the actress on his arm.
  15. Miranda Lambert's musician boyfriend Evan Felker has finalised his divorce. The Turnpike Troubadours folk singer filed papers to end his marriage to Staci Nelson in February (18), weeks before it emerged he had already moved on with country star Lambert. In May (18), Evan urged the judge overseeing his case to issue a scheduling order, ensuring there were no hold-ups in the court proceedings, and now the divorce is a done deal, according to Us Weekly magazine. Evan and Staci wed in September, 2016. He apparently grew close to Miranda earlier this year (18), around the time of her split from fellow country musician Anderson East, while his band supported the Vice hitmaker on her Livin' Like Hippies Tour. Lambert recently addressed gossip questioning when she actually started dating Felker, amid speculation of infidelity. Indicating the tabloid rumours were unfounded, she insisted that if fans want to know the truth about her life, they should listen to her music. "With social media, it's a whole other thing, and it's such bulls**t," she told website HITS Daily Double in June (18). "I'm thankful for the drama of it all because it gets sillier and sillier." "They make up so many lies, no one can know the truth," she added. "The truth is it's in my music if you listen close enough. I took three months off all socials in 2015. I loved it. I realised I wasn't picking up my phone looking at Twitter and Instagram. I wrote 75 songs in six months because I wasn't using my mind staring at mindless s**t. I took a week off a little while ago, and it felt so good." Miranda had previously started dating Anderson in 2015, shortly after her divorce from Blake Shelton.
  16. Rapper Cardi B feared she was disappointing Bruno Mars after having to cancel plans to join him on tour in September (18), just two months after giving birth. The I Like It hitmaker had initially assured fans she would have no problem bouncing back from pregnancy, but after welcoming daughter Kulture in early July (18), she realised she had "underestimated" motherhood and apologised to fans as she broke the news of her concert cancellation on social media days later. "Sorry guys," she wrote, before sharing a few words of gratitude for her Finesse (Remix) collaborator. "Thank you @BrunoMars for being so supportive and understanding .Your the best (sic)." Bruno immediately responded with a sweet message of his own, assuring her the "most important thing" was her health and that of her family, and insisting they would "share the stage when the time is right". He has since recruited Ciara, Boyz II Men, Charlie Wilson, and Ella Mai to support him on various stops on the 24K Magic World Tour, which kicks off in Denver, Colorado on 7 September (18), but Cardi still feels bad for leaving him in the lurch. "That s**t really hurts me because I felt like I let Bruno Mars down..., because when it came to... Finesse, Bruno Mars hit me up to do that record...," she told fans in a post on Instagram Live. "And I was like, 'Yo, I can't believe a n**ga like Bruno Mars wanna do a record with me (sic).'" Crediting Bruno for introducing the rapper to his pop fan base, she continued, "I thought I was gonna be able to do the tour (with) him, but when I gave birth, I was like, 'Wow, I can't...' My body is not capable of doing it right now... "I thought I was gonna be able to have my baby on the tour bus. I was like, 'OK, my baby's not gonna be able to fly, but I can have her on the tour bus and everything,' and then the doctor said it can't happen... I can't break away from my baby." Cardi will return to the limelight on Monday (20Aug18) by opening the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards as a guest presenter in her native New York City, and although she has been laying low and bonding with her baby, she insists she's still been putting in the work in the recording studio so she can offer fans some fresh material soon. But tearing herself away from little Kulture even for a few hours has been emotionally tough on Cardi. "Even though I can't do the tour, I'm still working my a** off," she said. "I be feeling like every night when I gotta go to the studio, I just be so sad because it's like, 'Damn, I really wanna be here (home) with my daughter,' but I don't have no time to waste 'cause I have fans waiting for new music from me (sic). "I already took four different business flights, and every time..., I be crying... but I gotta work. I have to work because I gotta feed my child and because I have family employed, and I have to pay them. I still gotta pay people. I gotta make that money (sic)!" Cardi is currently set to make her performance comeback at the Global Citizen Festival in New York on 29 September (18), when she'll feature alongside Janet Jackson and The Weeknd. She is also billed to hit the stage at the Mala Luna festival in Texas over Halloween weekend (Oct18).
  17. Fans have been invited to pay their final respects to Aretha Franklin at a two-day public viewing in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan later this month (Aug18). The Queen of Soul lost her battle with advanced pancreatic cancer on Thursday (16Aug18), aged 76, and now her relatives have outlined plans for a four-day celebration of her life. A public memorial and open casket viewing will be held at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, where Aretha was a frequent visitor, on 28 and 29 August. A private funeral service will follow at the city's Greater Grace Temple on 31 August (18), when close family and friends will bid a final farewell to the legendary singer, and she will then be entombed at Woodlawn Cemetery. According to Franklin's publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, the music icon will be laid to rest beside her father, Reverend C.L. Franklin, brother Cecil Franklin, sisters Carolyn Franklin and Erma Franklin, and nephew Thomas Garrett. Civil rights activist Rosa Parks also had a public viewing, memorial, and burial at the same venues upon her death in 2005. Meanwhile, Franklin's representatives are said to be working on organising a tribute event with a number of top artists, although those details have yet to be announced, reports Click On Detroit. The news emerges hours after two of Aretha's closest friends, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson, shared their memories of the Respect hitmaker. Stevie broke down as he recalled his last words to the singer, who he visited at her Detroit home on Tuesday, a day after she was reported to be "gravely ill". "She wasn't able to speak back, but her family felt that she could hear me, and so I just said all the things that I've always said and told her to say hello to my sister," Wonder told CBS This Morning on Friday, as he made reference to the sibling he lost earlier this year (18). He also honoured her as a "great human being", adding, "She brought joy to others' lives, and she will - her voice and the essence of her - will long (out) live all of us that are here right now." And Smokey, who had been childhood pals with Aretha, paid homage in a TV interview with breakfast show Good Morning America. "Aretha and I were just tight, and we had a wonderful, wonderful friendship that lasted throughout her entire life, and she was my longest friend...," Smokey shared, smiling as he dubbed her a "great cook" and an all-round "great person".
  18. Kanye West joined forces with rap collaborator Kid Cudi on Thursday (16Aug18) to stage a surprise show at a Los Angeles nightclub. The longtime friends recently formed the duo Kids See Ghosts and released a self-titled album in June (18), and earlier this week (begs13Aug18), it was revealed the new band would make its official stage debut as a headliner for Tyler, The Creator's Camp Flog Naw Carnival in Los Angeles in November (18). However, club-goers were given a sneak peek of what to expect on Thursday as Kanye and Cudi took over the Los Candiles venue for a special set. According to posts on social media, they didn't perform any songs from the Kids See Ghosts project, but played Ghost Town, their collaboration from Kanye's latest album Ye, for the first time. They also treated the crowd to renditions of the hip-hop superstar's hits Can't Tell Me Nothing and Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1, on which Cudi also features. Kanye's sister-in-law, Kendall Jenner, was among the lucky few in attendance, and she shared clips from the concert on her Instagram Story timeline. His wife Kim Kardashian was not in the audience - she was in Miami, Florida with the couple's three children. The mini-gig marked one of only a handful of times the Power hitmaker has taken to the stage following his hospitalisation for exhaustion in late 2016, which caused him to cancel the rest of his Saint Pablo Tour. He made his performance comeback in November (17), during Cudi's Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin' Tour stop in Kanye's native Chicago, Illinois, and also made an unexpected appearance at the Day 'n' Nite rapper's Los Angeles gig in February (18), during the NBA All-Star Weekend.
  19. Madonna has been inspired by her son David to launch the first soccer academy in Malawi. The African nation holds a special place in the pop icon's heart as four of her six children were adopted from the country, where she has been focusing her charity work since the launch of her Raising Malawi non-profit organisation in 2006. Madonna is currently living in Lisbon, Portugal to allow 12-year-old David to attend the youth academy of famed Portuguese soccer club Benfica as he pursues his dream of becoming a professional athlete, and his passion for the sport has become the driving force behind the singer's plans to build a similar facility for kids in poverty-stricken Malawi. "It is actually David's idea that we should build a football academy," she tells The Associated Press. The Material Girl hitmaker first raised the idea with local officials while visiting Malawi last month (Jul18), and bosses at the national soccer association have warmly embraced the plans - even offering up land for the construction of the facility right by the main stadium in the capital city of Lilongwe. "We are very excited with this window of opportunity that has arisen," says Malawi Football Association president Walter Nyamilandu. "It will complement our efforts to establish football academies in the country." "We presented our proposal of the academy to Madonna and they (Raising Malawi officials) are satisfied with it," he adds. The news is a dream come true for young David, who is eager to raise the profile of the sport in Malawi and help to propel the national team to the global stage. "We will start slow and grow bigger, enter African Cups and hopefully grow as big as we can be," David shares. In addition to the aspiring soccer star, Madonna is mother to daughter Mercy, also 12, and five-year-old twins Stella and Esther, as well as biological children Lourdes, 21, and Rocco, her son with director Guy Ritchie, who turned 18 last week (11Aug18). The singer also celebrated a milestone birthday of her own on Thursday (16Aug18) as she turned 60. She marked the occasion by releasing video footage of her performance at New York's Met Gala in May (18) as a special thank you to fans who had donated to a fundraiser for children in Malawi, which was launched to coincide with her big day.
  20. Stevie Wonder choked back tears on Friday (17Aug18) as he broke his silence over the death of his close friend and collaborator Aretha Franklin. The Superstition hitmaker had visited Aretha at her home in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday, after she was reported to be "gravely ill", and in an TV interview on America's CBS This Morning, Stevie reveals it was clear the Queen of Soul didn't have long to live. "She wasn't able to speak back, but her family felt that she could hear me, and so I just said all the things that I've always said and told her to say hello to my sister," Wonder explained, referring to the sibling he lost earlier this year (18). The two artists had been planning on teaming up for a new song, most recently discussing the collaboration just two months ago, but they had not gotten around to laying down vocals together. "We'd been talking about it," Stevie said. "There was a song that I had written called The Future, and we were going to sing it together." Overcome with emotion, his voice started to break as he paused and admitted, "I thought I cried my last tear." The Queen of Soul had previously shared her hopes of working on an original track with Stevie last summer (17) for her next album, which had been due to be the first to include new material since 2011's Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love. Reflecting on her musical legacy, Wonder remarked, "She did incredible music, incredible singer. She touched every genre. Every singer was influenced in some way by the way she sang, and they will forever be influenced by her because of her voice, her emotion; her sincerity is unforgettable..." He also reminisced about their personal friendship, and hailed Aretha as a huge inspiration of his own, having grown up in the same city of Detroit, Michigan. "She was just consistently a great human being, and she always - even with whatever turmoil may have been happening in her life, even through her illness - she did not put that on anybody else," Stevie continued. "She believed, I think that most of all she was doing God's work, and she was. She brought joy to others' lives, and she will - her voice and the essence of her - will long (out) live all of us that are here right now." Aretha lost her battle with advanced pancreatic cancer on Thursday, aged 76. According to her death certificate, obtained by TMZ, she will be entombed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, where civil rights activist Rosa Parks was buried following her death in 2005. A date has yet to be set, but her family reportedly plans to stage a public memorial service and open casket viewing at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in the city, where Aretha was a frequent visitor, followed by a private funeral service at Greater Grace Temple, before she is laid to rest. Sources tell the outlet it will be part of a four-day celebration of her life.
  21. Aretha Franklin's family are reportedly planning to hold a memorial service for the late singer at a museum in Detroit, Michigan. The Queen of Soul passed away at her home in Detroit following a battle with advanced pancreatic cancer on Thursday (16Aug18), days after it had been reported that the 76-year-old was "gravely ill". According to TMZ.com, her family has already picked the location for a memorial service and public viewing - the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in the city, where Aretha was a frequent visitor. It was also where the public viewing of civil rights activist Rosa Parks took place following her death in 2005. Sources close to the family have told reporters that the museum was chosen because it can accommodate the thousands of mourners they expect to show up. A traditional church service wasn't an option due to the predicted turnout. The viewing will also reportedly be open casket and feature a lot of singing. No date has been set for the service as yet. According to The Blast, officials at Swanson Funeral Home in Detroit have brought in extra security to make sure nobody accesses Aretha's remains while she's in their care. Her body was collected from her condo and taken to the home by white company hearses on Thursday. On Friday morning, Aretha's second ex-husband Glynn Turman, who was married to the Respect singer from 1978 until their separation in 1982, appeared on U.K. show Good Morning Britain via video link and recalled his visit with her during her final days. "(Aretha was) strong to the very end. I was holding her hand at the bedside, holding her wrist, which was now no more than skin and bone, but her pulse was so strong and so, so full of life," he said. "Her breathing was such a defiance of what was attacking her, that you got the sense Aretha was fighting all the way."
  22. Zoe Kravitz was thrilled to receive praise from Meryl Streep during a recent tenpin bowling game. The actress and singer is reprising her role as Bonnie Carlson in the upcoming second series of Big Little Lies, with the three-time Oscar winner joining the cast as Mary Louise Wright. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night (16Aug18), Zoe shared that the cast had gone on several excursions during the shoot but her favourite event was a night at a bowling alley. "I'm O.K. (at bowling), I got a strike," she recalled. "And Meryl, I think, is very dedicated to everything that she does, so she was really into the game and I got a strike and she turned to me and said, 'You're my hero!' And I know it was just bowling and I know she didn't mean it but time slowed down and I looked deep into her eyes and I was like, 'I'm your hero?'" Further on in the chat, Zoe went on to speak a little bit about her famous parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, and what it was like to grow up in Hollywood circles. And while she is adamant that she had a fairly normal upbringing, she did meet music icon Prince on several occasions and, in fact, actually found him "annoying" in one instance. "I was 18 and I was at a club and I was dancing, all of a sudden I feel someone tap on my shoulder and I turn... I'm like, 'I know I know this person,' and I look and I'm like, 'Oh my God, it's Prince,'" the 29-year-old remembered of one meeting, adding that she then invited the star, who died in 2016 at the age of 57, to her music gig the next night. While Prince enjoyed her show, Zoe recalled how he wouldn't stop talking to her during the afterparty about "the most beautiful woman" he met at the bar and she really had to encourage him to chat to that woman instead. "I think they ended up hitting it off and I think they even left. And I was like, 'Finally, Prince has gone.' He was a little annoying. But only in that moment and I love Prince, just to be very clear," she smiled.
  23. Fifth Harmony's Dinah Jane has signed a solo record deal with L.A. Reid's Hitco label. The 21-year-old songstress made her debut solo feature on all-star track Boom Boom alongside Daddy Yankee, RedOne and French Montana last October (17), but has now been confirmed to be working with the American music executive, who helped form the pop band during his stint as a judge on The X Factor in 2012, on new solo material. Editors at Variety confirmed on Thursday (16Aug18) that the Work From Home hitmaker will release a new solo single in the coming weeks after joining forces with a number of music industry powerhouses including songwriters MoZella, who co-wrote Miley Cyrus' Billboard number one track Wrecking Ball, and Priscilla Renea, who worked on Fifth Harmony's 2015 hit Worth It. Dinah will join a roster of artists currently signed to the label, including Outkast's Big Boi and rappers Skinnyfromthe9, Yella Beezy and DJ Holiday. She is the last member of Fifth Harmony to embark on a solo career following the group's hiatus announcement in March and the subsequent departures of bandmates Camila Cabello, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui and Ally Brooke. American-Cuban singer Camila, 21, went on to land a number one solo album and single with the 2018 hit Havana, while Normani, 22, signed with Keep Cool/RCA records and hit number 15 on the Hot 100 with her Khalid duet, Love Lies. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Lauren has released a host of collaborations with Halsey, Steve Aoki, and Marian Hill and has hinted at a forthcoming solo album, while Ally, 25, is also believed to be worked on a debut album with Atlantic Records and Latium Entertainment.
  24. Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has had an operation as part of her ongoing battle with oesophagus problems. The British singer revealed she had undergone surgery by posting an image to Instagram on Thursday night (16Aug18) showing her sat at a table in a restaurant with an empty dessert bowl in front of her. In the snap, the make-up free star, who is wearing a pink hoodie, rests her head on her hands, putting the hospital bracelet around her wrist and plaster on the back of her hand on full display. "Only I would have an operation then ask to be taken to the ivy for my favourite chocolate bomb dessert!" she wrote in the caption. "My oesophagus can't come between me and my love of food (crying with laughter) What doesn't kill you makes you stronger (flexing bicep emoji)." The 25-year-old later shared two videos on her Instagram Stories of her mother snoring while she was sleeping and wrote, "My mam wanting to 'keep an eye on me' and 'make sure I'm okay tonight'.. bless her. She's had a long day. I swear if she doesn't stop snoring ama have to start swinging (sic). I love her." She added that she was being kept awake by the snoring so she had to give her mum "a nudge". Perrie didn't reveal exactly where or why the operation took place, but she has previously revealed that the large vertical scar on her stomach is from surgery related to her oesophagus issues. "When I was little, my oesophagus was too small, so I had to get it operated on to help me eat properly," she told Now magazine. "I had to have lots of operations, so that's why I don't want to show it." She has since had a change of heart and proudly showed off her scar with a topless snap, in which she covered her breasts with her long hair and shells, in June.
  25. Ariana Grande knew she was going to marry Pete Davidson two years before they started dating. The No Tears Left To Cry singer and Saturday Night Live comedian made headlines in June (18) with news of their engagement, which came just weeks after the couple went public with their new romance. Sitting down with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday's (16Aug18) The Tonight Show, the 25-year-old songstress hosted a pseudo listening party for her new album Sweetener, which dropped during her appearance on the show, and addressed the aptly named track Pete Davidson, which Ariana reportedly wrote just a week after they started dating. Opening up about the beginning of their relationship, the Dangerous Woman singer admitted that the couple actually met in March 2016 when she hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live - and it was then that she knew she would wind up marrying the star. "We never exchanged numbers or anything. We weren’t even like friends for the longest time," she explained. "But I had the biggest crush in the whole world on him the whole time, like forever. Like, my friends used to make fun of me for it, all that stuff. "I left his writers’ room when we were writing skits and stuff for the show, and my tour manager was in the hallway, and I’m not a crushy person, like I don’t have crushes on people I don’t know, but I left and I like jokingly said to my tour manager, ‘I’m marrying him. 100 per cent. I’m literally marrying him’. And we weren’t even friends (at that time)." Ariana's comments come just days after her funnyman beau echoed her sentiments in an interview with GQ America, as he opened up about living in their luxury New York apartment and adjusting to fame now that he's engaged to a "super-famous person". "The day I met her, I was like, 'Hey, I'll marry you tomorrow,'" the 24-year-old gushed. "She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture (of engagement rings). I was like, 'Do you like any of these?' She was like, 'Those are my favourite ones,' and I was like, 'Sick.'" Ariana and Pete began dating in May, shortly after ending long-term relationships with rapper Mac Miller and Cazzie David, the daughter of comedy icon Larry David, respectively
