  5. While Destiny 2 players have been able to play the base game and all of its current expansions on the console version of Xbox Game Pass, the same can't be said for the PC version of the subscription service. However, that's about to change later this month when Destiny 2 and its expansions land on Xbox Game Pass for PC. Last year, the arrival of Destiny 2 and its newest expansion Beyond Light on Xbox Game Pass was quite the coup. However, that big get for the service was blunted some by the fact that people who wanted to play that expansion and all of the previous ones had to do it on Xbox consoles. Microsoft had made it clear that that the PC version of the game would be joining the service at some point last year, and last week, it finally became official. RELATED:Destiny 2 Players Are 'Mourning' The Loss Of The Tangled Shore Destiny 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC on October 12, but there had been some confusion created in the announcement of the launch date. Originally, there had been some speculation that, at least at first, Beyond Light would be the only expansion that would be arriving with the base game. With Destiny 2 vaulting both the Forsaken campaign and the Tangled Shore, some in the community believed the PC version would be pared down a bit; at least at first. Patiently waiting for Shadowkeep, Forsaken, and Beyond Light to come to the library… pic.twitter.com/vdQXwl3Ub3 — Xbox Game Pass For PC (@XboxGamePassPC) October 8, 2021 However, a tease about the arrival of the game from the official Xbox Game Pass For PC Twitter account made it clear that all of the expansions are coming when the game lands next week. The tweet was a simple one, showing a Destiny 2 guardian pulling out a chair and sitting down while tapping their foot. The caption along with the gif explained that the character was "patiently waiting" for Shadowkeep, Forsaken, and Beyond Light to come to the Game Pass library. Of course, there is a bit of a caveat with that tweet, as it didn't explicitly say the expansions for Destiny 2 are arriving on the exact same date as the base game. However, the tease on social media, as well as the previous assurance that all the expansions will be included at some point, seems to hint that everything is coming at once. The good news here is that fans of the Destiny franchise won't have to wait long to confirm whether all of the existing expansions will be there the same day as the base game. Xbox Game Pass for PC will get the title at the beginning of the week, which should be an exciting day for PC players. Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
  6. Since Miles Morales was bitten in a subplot from Marvel's Spider-Man, players have wanted to experience gameplay with both Miles and Peter Parker as Spider-Men. Of course, Insomniac Games has already tested these waters in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales' introductory tutorial, where players subdue RAFT escapees as Miles while an AI NPC of Peter's Spider-Man battles Rhino in the streets. But with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in mind, Insomniac may have these sequences be more frequent, with both Spider-Men fighting crime in the city at the same time. It has already been officially confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be singleplayer, so fans have hypothesized how the two Spider-Men may be interconnected through gameplay. Recently, fans have come up with interesting ideas for how the two could be separated but still run into one another from time to time. RELATED:Marvel's Spider-Man Fans Want To See Gwen Stacy In The Sequel PineappleTargaryen inquires into the idea of Peter and Miles interacting in the open world between specific missions. This would suggest that as either Peter or Miles, the player could happen upon the other Spider-Man while aimlessly traversing the city or engaging in the open world's prolific side activities, with the two even assisting each other. PineappleTargaryen believes it would be a neat change to have the other Spider-Man show up while in free roam, and suggests that "if you're near a random crime they'll help you." 3ACK_ mentions that pivotal characters from Red Dead Redemption 2 have a chance of appearing during free roam to aid the player, perhaps while near one of the gang's narrative-based campsites. 3ACK_ also states that they would like to see Miles check on Peter at times in free roam, similar to how other gang members inquire as to whether Arthur Morgan is doing alright. Indeed, fans agree that this relationship-building as a natural part of free roam could make the sequel's open world feel distinct from the previous two Marvel's Spider-Man installments that Insomniac has developed thus far. Further, RealEdwardNigma proposes that one Spider-Man could potentially call upon the player's Spider-Man to help assist in thwarting a random criminal activity. When combat ensues, a "Dual Play mechanic" could occur comparable to Batman: Arkham Knight, which featured its own character-swap combat system with a "seamless transition of control from one to character to another". This way, players could demonstrate the expertise in freeflow combat that they have achieved between Peter's gadgets in Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles' bioelectric powers in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  7. There are a lot of debates concerning what truly is the hardest video game of all time. The difficulty and frustrations of a game are all dependent on how many games one has played, as well as their overall skill level. However, there are some games that many people consider to the undisputed champion of difficulty, whether it be a retro classic or modern AAA experience. A poll was conducted by Japanese game website Inside-Games, surveying players on what the most frustrating, spirit destroying video game that they ever played was - with some expected and unexpected results. The top five games were featured in this article, and the survey data was based on 848 responses from Japanese gamers that had been asked "what is the most frustrating video game?" The games in this poll were chosen based on difficult levels, mysterious and complicated puzzle elements, or even other factors like the control scheme of the game in question. RELATED:Bloodborne Producer Has Joined Team Ninja At number 5 of this poll was From Software's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which is rather appropriate considering the studio is famous for its brutally punishing difficulty. Much like its other franchise Dark Souls, the game requires the player to learn the ins-and-outs of the game's combat, with important details suich as precise moments to parry an enemy's attack. Many of these responses include being stuck on Sekiro's mini-bosses, or even the basic enemies. In fourth place of the poll was Capcom's Ghosts 'n Goblins, a retro NES classic and side-scrolling platformer where loads of enemies are the main point of frustration. Unsurprisingly, in third place was another From Software title, the first Dark Souls game. This infamous game gave Japanese fans a lot of trouble, with Dark Souls' boss fights being the prime reason cited, Surprisingly, the game that took the silver medal of the poll was the original Resident Evil game on the PlayStation 1. According to the responses from Japanese gamers, the main point of frustration was a combination of factors, from the game's oppressive atmospher to the many jump scares from the game's dogs or crows. The game's poorly aged tank controls also contributed to this placement. However, the one game that took first place in the poll was indie hit Undertale. Despite its premise, players can also partake in Undertale's Genocide route where it has the player mercilessly slaugthering every creature they encounter. These fans found it not only a grind, but also the final boss of this route to be the peak of frustration, some citing several hundreds of attempts of failure. Considering the boss itself is meant to punish the player for even pursuing this path, it's rather fitting.
  8. Guild Wars 2 is gearing up for the launch of its third expansion pack, End of Dragons, at the start of the New Year. The newest preview of the expansion pack's contents was of Shing Jea Island, a new area players can explore in the eastern-themed continent of Cantha - and one that players of the prequel's Factions expansion might remember. Shing Jea Island first appeared in Guild Wars: Factions back in 2006, where it acted as the starting zone for new characters starting in the expansion. Fifteen years later, Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons is taking gamers back to Cantha, and players can finally see what has transpired on the other side of the world in the 250 years that have passed in Tyria between the first and second games. RELATED:Guild Wars 2 Expansion End Of Dragons Release Window And Plans Confirmed As has happened in other places across Tyria, Shing Jea Island has changed, but not so much to be unrecognizable to fans of the first game. Memorable locations, like Zen Daijun and the Monastery, make their returns, along with several other landmarks and areas both old and new. As one can expect from Guild Wars 2, the environments are gorgeous and bright in spite of the aging game's aging graphics, and the soundtrack is tranquil and harmonic. Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons has revealed plenty of content lately. In addition to the highly-anticipated return to beloved Cantha, players will have access to new features, including fishing, a new two-person turtle mount, and nine new elite specializations - one for each of the Guild Wars 2 professions. The final three specializations will be revealed in the coming weeks in anticipation of the third event on October 26th, and more features and locations to be found in the expansion pack will come soon. Ever since the release of its first two expansions and its Living World content, all of which had revisited beloved locations from the original game, longtime fans of the Guild Wars 2 have hoped for a return to Cantha. Shing Jea Island is the first zone Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons has given an in-depth look at, which is a fitting choice given that many players began their journeys there. Soon, players will get to discover how other familiar locations have faired over the centuries. With so many other MMORPGs in the spotlight, it is no surprise many gamers may have forgotten that Guild Wars 2 was still around, especially in light of controversies surrounding MMO titan World of Warcraft, or the recent meteoric rise of Final Fantasy 14. However, Guild Wars 2 is still alive and well, with over 500,000 active players each day –nearly the same as Amazon's New World. With an expansion around the corner, that number is bound to rise even higher. Guild Wars 2 is available now on PC, with End of Dragons releasing in February 2022
  9. Battlefield 2042 is the newest game in the Battlefield franchise, and its futuristic setting takes it in a new direction compared to the historical settings of Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5. Recently, DICE hosted a beta for the upcoming game, giving players the opportunity to check out many different aspects of combat, such as flying jets, piloting drones, and even deploying robotic guard dogs. However, not everything about the beta is going according to plan, as one fan showcased during a hilariously glitchy battle. In a Reddit post, a user known as safeenDB shared a video of them engaging an enemy in a 1v1 during the Battlefield 2042 beta. The clip started with the player riding a zipline up the side of a high building. Once reaching the top of the structure, they came across an enemy near a flight of stairs. Jumping into action, the player whipped out a pistol and began to open fire on the hostile. Unfortunately, that’s where things started to go downhill. RELATED:Battlefield 2042 Beta Already Has Hackers As safeenDB unloaded their magazine at the opponent, several bright and disorienting flashes occurred. Even as the Battlefield player fired shot after shot, the enemy remained standing, as seemingly every bullet missed the target. After being alerted to the presence of safeenDB, the enemy then started to fire back. However, like his assailant, the enemy failed to land a finishing shot. The fight soon devolved into a comical fistfight, with both players attempting to punch the other out. Eventually, the enemy landed a final hit, knocking safeenDB to the ground. With over 4,200 upvotes, many in the Battlefield 2042 community on Reddit found the 1v1 hilarious to watch. However, it highlighted several issues impacting the beta as well. As mentioned previously, the gamer had problems with screen flashes during the battle. Furthermore, the player noted that there appears to be no aim assist for controller players on PC. Nevertheless, some people on Reddit thought some of safeenDB’s shots should have landed, raising concerns about hit registration in the game. In addition, many commented that issues with high ping on servers could have contributed to the problem. This video showcased only a few of the glitches that players have been experiencing in the beta. Other clips have seen anomalies, such as Battlefield 2042 players fall through solid surfaces along with spastic ragdoll physics. In addition, players have had issues with poor frame rates. It is worth noting that this is only a beta, and the developers could improve many of these aspects before release. With Battlefield 2042 already getting delayed until November 19, it will be interesting to see if this extra time allows the developers to fix many of the issues impacting the game. Battlefield 2042 releases November 19, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  10. 2021 has been a banner year for Chinese developer MiHoYo across both of its flagship franchises. Honkai Impact 3rd held a major collaboration earlier this year with iconic anime franchise Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Genshin Impact has exploded in popularity since its release last September. MiHoYo recently announced the developer's next title would be a new venture into the Honkai universe, officially revealing the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail. Honkai Impact 3rd puts the player in command of a team of "Valkyries" tasked with fighting off evil creatures threatening to eradicate the Earth's population. MiHoYo and Honkai Impact 3rd have featured multiple collaborations throughout 2021, partnering with the previously-mentioned Evangelion and even partnering with the company's other flagship title in Genshin Impact. Now, the Honkai universe will be receiving a new title with a different style from its predecessor. RELATED:Razer Teams Up With Genshin Impact To Create Co-Branded Gaming Gear The official reveal trailer from Thursday shows off the first look players will have at the characters and story of Honkai: Star Rail. The trailer features a variety of different environments and seems to imply that the game will feature open exploration similar to Genshin Impact. The promotional website for Honkai: Star Rail reveals that the title will stray from MiHoYo's other games and will have turn-based combat instead of the action RPG combat of Genshin and Honkai Impact 3rd. Returning players from Honkai Impact 3rd will recognize some familiar faces in the game's cast, like Himeko and Welt. The trailer also announced open sign-ups for the game's ongoing closed beta testing, which began yesterday. Players looking to get in on the ground floor of MiHoYo's newest space adventure will be given a brief survey that asks questions related to the players' experience with other mobile games and intended playing device. Some of the titles mentioned in the survey include titles like Genshin Impact, Arknights, and Fire Emblem: Heroes, with the heavy emphasis on gacha games seeming to imply that Honkai: Star Rail will feature a gacha system. MiHoYo has come under fire from fans of Genshin Impact in recent weeks for the game's lackluster first anniversary rewards and the company's response. Incensed fans of the popular RPG used the outrage to express discontent with some of the game's features and the lack of a response from MiHoYo to these criticisms. Some of the game's angrier fans even review-bombed Genshin Impact and other apps, ranging from MiHoYo's other titles to completely unrelated ones like League of Legends: Wild Rift and even Google Classroom. Despite this, 2021 has been a wildly lucrative year for MiHoYo, and the company hopes Honkai: Star Rail will continue its streak of success. Honkai: Star Rail is in development for mobile devices and PC
  11. The Last of Us 2's narrative deals with emotionally tortured characters who attempt to reconcile tragic events with their own brand of vengeful justice, which only results in violence and death for both parties. Please note that this article will have MAJOR SPOILERS for The Last of Us 2. Ellie's character is tested throughout The Last of Us 2, from Joel's death to Jesse's death and so forth, as she pursues Abby in Seattle. But after shelving her need to find Abby following Dina's pregnancy, she is guilt-tripped into hunting Abby once more by Tommy. Recently, one fan has portrayed Ellie in one of her most traumatized and vulnerable moments with exceptional artwork. RELATED:The Last Of Us 2 Co-Game Director Explains The Origins Of The Rat King's Name Star-Gear21 recently shared a black-and-white painting of The Last of Us 2's Ellie. Despite the painting's high contrast, Ellie's pained facial expression and loose hair strands are perhaps easily recognizable to The Last of Us 2 players. Indeed, much of the painting is saturated with a black negative space, though the white highlights detail Ellie clearly and impressively. This particular shot of Ellie was also used in The Last of Us 2's original marketing, though the specific angle of it as a static image does well to omit what is happening outside of the frame. From the still image, it simply looks as though Ellie is devastated or distraught for an unknown reason, but Ellie is in fact submerging an emaciated and wounded Abby underwater and attempting to drown her. This is, however, a moment where Ellie is grappling with her unrequited revenge that represents the cycle of violence proposed at the end of The Last of Us 2. Many sequences in The Last of Us 2 conflict the player with character perspectives that create empathy and comprehension of contextual information that the other characters sorely need, but do not have. Ellie is unaware of what Abby's connection is to Joel, but she cares enough about him to avenge his death the same way that she believes Joel would avenge someone. Ellie is familiar with Tommy's map-torture technique, for example, because she knows that he and Joel performed it as smugglers in the outbreak's early years. Dina attempts to persuade Ellie that they can live happily without grief overwhelming their lives, but Ellie feels a lack of closure and is compelled to find Abby once more, despite Abby having spared her life on two separate occasions at that point. Without Ellie returning to find Abby in Santa Barbara, however, Abby and Lev would have likely died on the beach, so it is a bittersweet providence that the two were perhaps fated to meet again in The Last of Us 2. While the moment may be divisive, this art captures it brilliantly. The Last of Us 2 is available now on PS4.
  12. Rockstar Games has officially announced the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition collection, which bundles together remasters of Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It's a package Grand Theft Auto fans have been asking for over the past several years, and Rockstar is finally delivering. Of course, now that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has been announced, Grand Theft Auto fans are already asking for more. Following the announcement of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, fans were quick to hit social media with hot takes regarding the Grand Theft Auto games that didn't make the cut. It started with pointing out the various modern spin-off Grand Theft Auto games notably missing from the collection. A meme shared on Reddit by NightVelocity1 shows Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars drowning while Rockstar holds GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas above water. RELATED:Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Release Date May Have Leaked The memes escalated from there, naturally. If Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars were drowning, then all of the classic Grand Theft Auto games had sunk into the abyss. Another meme from Redditor GoldenSaddle showed Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto 2, Grand Theft Auto: London 1969, and Grand Theft Auto Advance down next to a sunken ship. At least the other titles are near the surface. Behind the memes is a surprisingly popular sentiment among Grand Theft Auto fans. As exciting as Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition's release is, it would be exciting to see the classic GTA games re-released, too. A remaster of the original top-down GTA titles made for the original PlayStation, or a collection of the mobile games developed by Rockstar Leeds for PSP, would likely have an excited audience waiting for them. There is, of course, no evidence that Rockstar is making - or even considering making - a collection of any of its other games beyond the three classic Grand Theft Auto releases in the new remaster. Fans can't even get Rockstar to re-release Bully, Grand Theft Auto 4, or Red Dead Redemption, after all, so these demands seem unlikely to be met. Regardless, the enthusiasm surrounding the Grand Theft Auto franchise is palpable. For a series that's subsisted on the success of a single GTA title, Grand Theft Auto 5, for eight years, excitement for Grand Theft Auto has never been higher. Rockstar really could re-release the original Grand Theft Auto at this point and have it be a staggering success, as these memes make it clear that fans want to see it. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition releases in 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  13. The week of New World's launch saw servers overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands of players. Due to servers filling and queue times ever-growing, developer Amazon told players they should create characters on open servers and that server transfers would be provided quickly. Unfortunately, New World server transfers did not arrive that week. Nor will they arrive this week, Amazon has now confirmed. Amazon hopes to provide New World server transfers next week instead, though they now come with serious limitations on their usage. In a post shared on the official New World forums, community manager TrevzorFTW explains that Amazon has delayed its plans to implement server transfers. Development continues on the feature, but TrevzorFTW explains that it has discovered "some edge cases" that didn't meet the team's standards. As such, Amazon is taking additional time in order to solve these problems before it releases New World's server transfer system to the public. The current schedule tentatively plans for server transfers to be available next week. RELATED:New World Suffering From Long Queue Times For the time being, Amazon has provided a FAQ of sorts that gives information regarding the server transfer process. It is disappointingly limited compared to initial plans. For one, Amazon is no longer planning on offering a free New World server transfer window of two weeks. Instead, Amazon will provide each player with a single free server transfer token. Once it's used, players will have to pay if they want to transfer servers again. Further, Amazon has confirmed that it will not be allowing server transfers to a "full world." For the past week, Amazon has flagged many New World servers as full so they no longer accept new characters - even if those servers are often well below the server cap. It does seem that many servers have once again been opened, however. Players are certain to be frustrated, as they'll be blocked from transferring to any server of import. Only low-population servers will be open, and this goes against Amazon's initial promise on server transfers. Another key broken promise is that server transfers will not be allowed across regions. Amazon says players will only be able to transfer between servers within their own region. That means players hoping to transfer between US West and US East won't be able to. Transfers between EU and North America, as well as APAC and South America servers, will also be blocked. Suffice to say, Amazon has a true fiasco on its hands. New World players were content to wait so long as they got the server transfer options they were promised. Now, however, the delays have only compounded the issue. After investing weeks of playtime into their characters, in many cases, players will no longer be able to join their friends. While technical limitations are understandable, New World players are more than justified in asking how things have gone so wrong. New World is available now on PC.
  14. It is hard not to notice that the reception to the Battlefield 2042 beta has been heavily mixed. Some are excited for the new generation of the Battlefield series, but among technical problems and hackers, other fans are noticing a distinct lack of depth when compared to the previous games. The Battlefield series is well known for its massive battles, wide array of strategic depth, and wealth of features to aid such strategies. The upcoming entry, Battlefield 2042, is set in the future. Ironically, though, it appears to some players as a significant step back for the series. RELATED:Battlefield 2042 Bots Keep Shooting Players Even After They're Dead A video posted to the unofficial Battlefield 2042 subreddit by user GreenyMyMan shows a large amount of features missing from the new Battlefield game's beta, many of them being iconic to the series. The detail in building destruction is reduced heavily, first-person takedown animations are gone, damage information is removed, and fortification is also missing. Fortification allows players to build blockade structures and defense around turrets, making it a massive downgrade from the previous games' defensive mechanics. Since Battlefield 2042 is only a beta version at the moment, it is entirely possible that DICE will add many of these mechanics before the final release. However, many players are unimpressed with this first glimpse at the game. The removal of leaning is a top concern in the comments of the video, with many players considering it iconic to the Battlefield series. A common sentiment among commentors is the feeling of being limited by the mechanical changes. The decision to change the game could be to make it less intimidating for new players, as well as a financial decision; animations that were first-person in previous Battlefield games are changed to third-person in Battlefield 2042's beta, and some commentors believe this could be in service of selling cosmetic skins and melee finishers to players. Some changes are outright confusing, though; large stationary weapons have been removed, which some players have noticed makes taking down aircraft much more difficult. While improvements are already promised for Battlefield 2042's launch, most of them do not seem to address the biggest player concerns. The beta of Battlefield 2042 removing so many iconic and important features takes the series in a difficult direction that is confusing many longtime players. The point of a beta is to gather feedback, but even disregarding Battlefield 2042's bugs and hackers, some adjustments seem far too fundemental to implement without a greater delay. Some replies to the original video point out that Halo Infinite's delay resulted in its reception turning from negative to highly anticipated, but it remains to be seen whether the same will happen for Battlefield 2042. Battlefield
  15. Charli XCX takes over The Chart Show on Apple Music 1 with her new single “Good Ones,” and talks about the sound of her upcoming record and what fans can expect from the "Good Ones" era of her music. Charli XCX On "Good Ones” And The Sound Of Her Upcoming Record... It definitely sets the palette for the rest of the album. It is heavily eighties inspired. There are a lot of uptempo tracks. It's dark, it's kind of sexy and sexual and sort of demonic at points, I suppose. But then there are lighter moments too. But yeah, I think the whole record is about my relationship with relationships and sex and power, but the song itself, I suppose, it's about falling for a toxic person, being always ready to put myself in the most dangerous positions, just to feel something which I guess it's kind of the whole record, but I feel like we've all been there at points in life. Charli XCX On The "Good Ones” Video... I think the “Good Ones” video came from this idea of taking the phrase, “Let the good ones go,” to a very literal place as in death and loss of life and mourning that someone who you were with. So I've always been fascinated by funerals as like an event, they're very rich in imagery funerals, they're very beautiful and very special. And they mean a lot to a lot of people, and it's this place of extreme emotion. So I thought, why not turn it into a music video, I suppose. So, yeah. That's kind of where it came from this idea of like the kind of physical act of like letting someone leave your life. Charli XCX Says Fans Can Expect 'An Overload Of Sexiness' From The "Good Ones" Era Of Her Music... The fans can expect an overload of sexiness. I want it to all feel sexy. Like the music, the sounds, the tour, the videos, the clothes, the way they feel. So that's kind of my hope really that everyone just discovers they're in a sexy demon and it all comes out. Charli XCX On How The “911” Remix With Lady Gaga Came About... Bloodpop who was obviously heavily involved in ‘Chromatica’ alongside Gaga, sort of messaged me in the pandemic and was like, “Would you want to do a remix of ‘911?’” And I was like, “Yeah, sure. Just like, send me the parts.” And then I guess there was some kind of lost in translation thing that happened, but I never got the parts. And then a month later I was doing a Q&A with fans and they were asking like, “Would you ever work with Gaga?” And I was like, “I mean, of course, like I would love to and actually one of her collaborators asked me to do a remix for ‘911.’” And then I think all the Little Monsters were like on Bloodpop being like, “Why didn't you let this happen? You have to let this happen, like blah, blah, blah.” And then it kind of got crazy. And then I think that's how the concept of the remix album actually came around for both of them. Charli XCX On Doja Cat's "Get Into It (Yuh)" Being Her Favourite Song Of 2021... Brooke Reese: Which song released in 2021 has been your favourite song and why? Charli XCX: I actually know my answer to this pretty confidently. It's Doja Cat “Get Into It.” That I think is the best song of the year. There is no other song released this year that's going to top that song for me. I think it is art. That song is just pure art. What I love about it is I gravitate towards artists who have personality and who are truly unique and nobody else could sing their songs or rap their songs or whatever and “Get Into It (Yuh)” is exactly that. No one could do that like Doja does it. It's just like the pores of that song are like bursting at the scenes with her personality and it makes me feel alive when I listen to it. So, easily, that song.

  17. Multi-award-winning composer Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die today peaks at No 7 in the top 10 of the Official UK Album Charts making this the highest-charting soundtrack to date from the James Bond franchise and the highest-charting album for composer Hans Zimmer. Today also sees the album reach No.1 in the Official Classical Artists UK Album Charts. The soundtrack features music from guitarist Johnny Marr and Billie Eilish whose electrifying title track No Time To Die, co-written with brother Finneas O’Connell, topped the Official UK Singles Chart in its first week of release last year. At 18 years old on release, Eilish is the youngest artist and the first female to take a Bond theme to the top of the Official UK Singles Chart. The track also boasts the biggest opening week for a Bond theme ever. Of this record-breaking news, Zimmer says: “It's incredible to think that we effectively launched this album at the Brits in 2019! It feels fantastic that the movie and its music are finally receiving such a rapturous and record-breaking reception. If you're going to make chart history, you might as well do it with James Bond! I'm delighted” Chief Executive of Official Charts Company, Martin Talbot comments: “The triumphant return of Bond, James Bond, this autumn has been a huge fillip for the nation post-lockdown and the incredible success of the soundtrack album has emphasised quite how much we love a Bond score. The involvement this time of Billie Eilish and Johnny Marr alongside Hans Zimmer has broadened the audience for this OST more than ever before. We have had to wait, but it was certainly well worth waiting for.” Decca Records Co-Managing Directors Laura Monks & Tom Lewis add: “We are thrilled to simultaneously make chart history for James Bond and Hans Zimmer, both legends in their own right. We couldn't be prouder of the whole Decca team and of the increasingly strong bond (sorry!) that we have built with our partners at EON and MGM.” No Time To Die had its theatrical release on 30th September 2021 in the UK through Universal Pictures International and has smashed UK box office records with the highest opening UK weekend takings of any James Bond film. Beating Skyfall and Spectre, which sit at numbers two and three in the all-time UK box office chart. No Time To Die from EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM), is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and stars Daniel Craig in his fifth appearance as James Bond. Craig is joined by Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, and Christoph Waltz, who reprise their roles from previous films, with Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, and Ana de Armas joining the cast. Today also marks the US theatrical release through MGM via their United Artists Releasing banner.
  18. The Weeknd has joined the United Nations' World Food Programme as a Goodwill Ambassador. On Thursday, the 31-year-old Canadian officially became a spokesperson for the international non-government organisation. The Weeknd's advocacy will focus on ending global hunger, a global issue that has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. "The U.N. World Food Programme is doing urgent and important work to change and save lives on a daily basis," the Grammy Award winner said in a statement. "I feel passionately about addressing world hunger and helping people in need." The Weeknd joins a long line of celebrities who have worked with the organisation, including Kate Hudson and Michael Kors. Earlier this year, the Blinding Lights hitmaker donated $1 million (£734,000) to the organisation's aid programme in Ethiopia, which has faced intense violence and wide-spread famine in the northern Tigray region. "Our partnership is an authentic extension of all our efforts and intentions to help those in need and bring an end to so much suffering," he concluded.
  19. Dave Keuning has revealed 'Thriller' inspired him to be a musician. The Killers guitarist - who co-founded the group with Brandon Flowers in 2001 - explained how Michael Jackson's iconic 1983 single lit a fire in him when it came to his own love for music. Appearing on the 'Off The Beat & Track' podcast, he said: "I was really young and that was probably the first song that... I didn't know I was going to be a musician, and it just made me love music so much. "I got the whole record and that song gives me chills, or at the time. It's got a little bit of everything. "It's strangely scary - if you're a kid, which I was at the time, like six. But just the great main line of it, the bassline and everything. It just really had an impact on me." He then discovered the album of the same name, which further helped him "get into all music at that time". Jackson - who died in 2009 - was accused of sexual abuse by James Safechuck and Wade Robson from childhood to their early teenage years in the documentary Leaving Neverland and was also acquitted following a 2005 trial of molesting another young boy, Gavin Arvizo. Keuning admitted while he understands why some people don't feel they can listen to the late singer's music because of the allegations, he can still enjoy the songs. He explained: "I don't wanna talk too much about that because I don't know what happened. I certainly don't condone any of this stuff or mean to be insensitive to those who might be ticked. "But one, he's dead - so the music is just notes and chords and a dead guy's vocal, and Eddie Van Halen's solo on 'Beat It'. These are undeniably great things. "I can understand if some people don't wanna listen to it - I don't listen to it every day, but these are my memories before they were tainted. "The music was good then, and unfortunately it's still good now. I don't really know how else to say it."
  20. Jesy Nelson's debut solo album was inspired by a break-up. The former Little Mix singer admitted that the demise of her relationship provided inspiration for the upcoming record but said that it took a huge toll on her and she never wants "to experience that again". She told Vulture: "If you were to bring 1990s- and 2000s-era R&B and pop back and make it now, that’s what it sounds like. I went through a breakup when I was writing it; it was the first time I’d ever been heartbroken in my life. I cried for a month in the studio. I wouldn’t change it because I wrote the best album from it, but Jesus Christ, I never want to experience that again. A lot of it [is also about] what I was going through in the band and how I was feeling. Then there’s just some bangers!" Jesy, 30, admitted she is nervous about her solo career but believes that she has been true to herself throughout the experience. She said: "Good nerves. It’s not like, This might fall to s*** because — touch wood — even if it did, I know I’ve been true to myself. I’ve been so honest on the songs. I’ve been through the toughest breakup and told all the stories I wanted to tell. If it did go wrong, I’m okay with that. "[After leaving Little Mix], I remember being terrified thinking about what I wanted to do. My mum was like, 'Why don’t we move to Cornwall and get a tea shop?' and I was like, 'Mum, I don’t think that’s realistic!' Then I thought maybe I’d do more documentaries or go into TV, but then I kept coming back to music. Performing was my thing, so to not do that again saddened me. I couldn’t let that experience [in the group] take that away from me."
  21. James Blake joins Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 for a conversation about the importance of mental health and the process of creating his new album ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’ as part of Apple Music’s observance of World Mental Health Day (this Sunday, October 10th). He discusses his journey of working to improve his own mental health, why he’s speaking openly about it, the importance of doing the work, the pitfalls of social media, and more. Watch the interview in full at apple.co/-jamesblake. James Blake Tells Apple Music About Working To Improve His Mental Health… Essentially, in all of these ways that I found myself living, I was shutting off how I digest. I wasn't exercising. I was eating every day. I was letting... There was all sorts of situations in my life that I was letting continue that I was anxious about all the time. Drinking a lot. Sugar, 24/7. Run, run, run, run, run. If you don't... I was setting up a situation… I was just doing circles of the worst things you can do for your mental health. And then I was surprised that I didn't feel very good in the morning and it's like, we do have control even if there are some things that are going to affect us forever, maybe. But I do think when we diagnose ourselves as mentally ill or we diagnose ourselves in whatever way, we mustn't let that be a prison or a definition of us that allows... that essentially stops us from investigating ways we could feel better. James Blake Tells Apple Music About Speaking Openly About Mental Health… I think to have those conversations as part of the whole process is actually quite important. Yeah, I've definitely noticed that. I've tried to talk about mental health, and my own mental health mostly in my records for a while, for at least the last three records. Maybe all of them. I think the first record feels like a very fragmented attempt at discussing, and a very tentative attempt at discussing stuff, because I think I was just too afraid to put it in plain English, to be honest. But I also maybe didn't have the vocabulary to put it in plain English either… I say this a lot, but our first language very often is music, and then it's whatever our native tongue is. I think we're not encouraged necessarily to actually speak on mental health or what we're actually feeling. I think if we do, then the likelihood is that it will make it uncomfortable for somebody around us, whether it's a manager, or an agent, or a label, or whatever. Because at a certain point in our careers, a lot of the time it can grind us to a halt, and stop us from actually making everybody money. It's opened my whole life up in a way that it never was. I mean, I was an incredibly anti-social person and this kind of interview would have scared the sh** out of me, to be honest. I would've been much more content just talking about the music and... But now, I mean talking about music's all right. James Blake Tells Apple Music About Finding Ways Of Expressing Himself Beyond Songwriting... I first started to feel that probably when I was about 14 or 15, where I was just spilling over. I just couldn't. There was no... I seemed to have no outlet. Even though I did music, I couldn't... Things would affect me, and I'd look around, and other people were just fine, and I just didn't really understand why. And you know, you develop your outlets, and it's funny that the misconception as well is that music is a total outlet. It's not. You make a song about a thing you're upset about, and then you feel good for about half an hour. And when somebody tells you, "I love the song you made," you go, "Thanks, it reminds me of all the things I just talked about, which I would rather not be reminded of." And then, you're back to where you were. And there's a little bit of relief from that. But really, the only actual way to deal with it is to talk about it. And to do the work on it, whether it's therapy, or if it's talking to your friend, just talking to somebody who understands, or just feeling it, except making changes in your life. Whatever it is, they are the real outlets.I took three years to basically do that. And I'm very fortunate that I was in a financial position where I could actually stop working and just go and figure it all out. But it took me... quite a long time. And the other thing is, I think mental health has become somewhat of a catch phrase in a way. James Blake Tells Apple Music About Experiencing Success While Dealing With Mental Health Issues... And so, the chasm between the person that you're presenting as your personality to the public, and the person you really are when the mic is off, and you go home, and you've got to deal with your own problems, becomes grander and grander. And it's just like for me, the thing was, the difference between my musical, cool, doing loads of collabs, and producing blah, blah, blah, and doing dub, electronic music, and good reviews, and all that stuff, and me just spiraling… and actually not being that great to talk to at the time, and not really having anything to say, and just having loads of social anxiety, but then going onstage and just being the coolest version of myself possible. And you're rewarded financially for that in a lot of cases. I think it's Pavlovian. It's like the more you get the treat, the more you return to that behaviour. I think the answer for me, was to decide that I was okay with not getting the treat, and that I would decide to stop pretending that I was like, whatever part of me it was that was saying, okay, I need to appear this way to be as perfect as the kids at school thought I wasn't, or I'm going to be cooler than... Whatever. James Blake Tells Apple Music About The Problems With Social Media... When we stare at that screen long enough and you're scrolling through Twitter long enough. And the nature of Twitter is that people talk to each other like they're not humans. They talk to each other like they sort of disembody public figures. They disembody each other because it's easy to. And also you have been quite literally neuro programmed by the technology to lack empathy in that moment. So of course you're going to write some shit that isn't you. And really, how many conversations do you have online that are the same in person? And there's no ring fencing of how far that message can go. So essentially, it can travel so far that the original context is lost and people are just commenting as if you'd said it to them or about them. I mean, it's a flawed, inherently flawed system of communication. But I think social media, we have to talk about, if you're going to talk about mental health, you've just got to talk about the fact that social media is massively exacerbating it for people… I know that's not a controversial statement anymore, but if you're serious about feeling better... then, honestly, the thing that did it for me is getting away from my phone. It changes your life. 22. Tom Grennan was inspired by Sir Elton John, Amy Winehouse and Alex Turner for 'Evering Road'. The 'Little Bit of Love' hitmaker - who topped the UK album charts when he released his second record earlier this year - has opened up about the artists who inspired him as he was working on the LP. Speaking to Music Feeds, he said: "The Back To Black album; wow. Amy’s voice: the way she plays with melodies is what I wanted to try on the record." Tom has also had 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' on repeat, and paid tribute to Elton's influence on him. He added: "He’s a legend. I listened A LOT to the album 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' from Elton." When it comes to Alex Turner, he revealed his admiration for the way the Arctic Monkeys and Last Shadow Puppets star "makes people think through music". The likes of Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin shaped Tom's writing and performing for 'Evering Road' too as he took inspiration from each of them in different ways. He said: "Ray Charles. What a musician. He definitely inspired the making of the album. "[Aretha Frankin's] voice is unreal! I wanted to be put a modern twist on it and do my own thing."
  23. A judge has denied Marilyn Manson's bid to dismiss Esme Biancos sexual abuse lawsuit against him. The Game of Thrones actress, who was involved with Manson between 2009 and 2013, filed the sexual assault and sexual battery lawsuit against the rocker, real name Brian Warner, in April, accusing him of physically, sexually, psychologically, and emotionally abusing her on multiple occasions. Manson's legal team tried to get the lawsuit dismissed, citing the statute of limitations, but Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha of the U.S. District Court of California denied the dismissal and allowed Bianco to proceed with her legal action, according to court documents revealed on Thursday. The judge also ordered Manson to formally answer to each of the claims made in Biancos lawsuit within 14 days. Explaining his decision, the judge wrote that "a reasonable jury could find that the effects of Warner's alleged unconscionable acts, including the perceived threat to Plaintiff's safety, immigration status, and career, persisted years after her last contact with Warner." Bianco said in a statement to Deadline, "My hope is that this ruling empowers other survivors to pursue justice for themselves while signalling to abusers that they cannot bully victims into silence." The case is one of four lawsuits that have been filed against Manson this year. The rocker's former personal assistant Ashley Walters, model Ashley Morgan Smithline, and an unnamed woman have also accused him of abuse. The latter case was dismissed in September as a judge determined that the woman did not have enough evidence to override the statute of limitations. While she has not taken legal action, Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood also alleged she was abused by the singer and her former fiance earlier this year. Manson has always maintained his innocence, claiming that all of his sexual relationships have been consensual.
  24. Jesy Nelson has snagged a cameo from Sean 'Diddy' Combs for the music video for her debut solo single Boyz. The singer, who quit girl group Little Mix in December, officially launched her solo career on Friday when she released the track, which samples the beat from the rapper's 2001 track Bad Boy for Life. The music video is also heavily inspired by Diddy's original promo, which shows him moving into a perfect neighbourhood with his friends and causing havoc. Jesy's video follows the same storyline and even includes shot-for-shot remakes of certain scenes, including her singing while sat on the roof and breaking a neighbour's window with a golf ball. In the original, the disgruntled neighbour who comes over to complain was played by Ben Stiller, but in this version, Diddy takes on that role. "Hey Jeezy, Jesy, Little Mix, whatever y'all calling yourselves these days, check it out," he says in his cameo. "I live next door - the golf balls through the window, that's not going to work. This isn't going to fly. And Friday nights, that's my night, that's the night that I party, hands off of Friday nights. And also, if you're having a party, y'all can invite me too. Welcome to the neighbourhood and good luck to you on your career." It was reported that the song and video were delayed for several weeks so the hip-hop star could appear in the promo. The song, which is about Jesy's attraction to bad boys, also features a verse from Nicki Minaj, who previously worked with Little Mix on Woman Like Me. The rapper appears in the music video too, performing with a band in the garage, a scene also taken from Diddy's original version.
  25. Sam Simmonds marked his return to Premiership action following the British and Irish Lions tour with two tries as Exeter thrashed Worcester. Dave Ewers scored first for Exeter after a scrappy opening before Simmonds went over from close range. Facundo Cordero scored in injury time and again moments after the restart to earn Exeter a bonus point. Simmonds grabbed his second try and brother Joe Simmonds added a sixth before Justin Clegg's late consolation. Ford helps Leicester see off Irish Saracens mark homecoming with Falcons win Gloucester edge thriller against Sale After winning for the first time this season at Sale last weekend, a second successive victory lifts Exeter up to fifth in the table. Worcester, meanwhile, have now lost three of their four games and have slipped back into the bottom half. Both sides welcomed back a number of their Lions players for this game, with Luke Cowan-Dickie and Jonny Hill joining Sam Simmonds in the Chiefs' starting XV, while Worcester gave debuts to Scotland duo Duhan van der Merwe and Rory Sutherland. But such stellar names on the team sheets was not matched by the quality on the field in an opening 20 minutes dominated by a succession of scrums. Exeter, wearing a special one-off blue kit in tribute to the NHS, finally made the breakthrough when Ewers powered over from the base after Worcester held up a maul following a 5m line out. Sam Simmonds, who broke the Premiership single-season try-scoring record last term, then got his season up and running before Cordero capitalised on captain Henry Slade opting not to kick the ball dead when his side were awarded a penalty in stoppage time by weaving his way through the Worcester defence and forcing his way over. Cordero crossed again early in the second half to cap a fine passing move and secure Chiefs a bonus point, before Sam Simmonds broke tackles to go in from 20m for his second try and Exeter's third in the space of eight minutes either side of the break. With the game won, Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter rang the changes. But the Chiefs were not done as replacement Joe Simmonds twisted his way over with minutes left. However, it was Worcester who completed the scoring when Clegg forced his way over following a 5m line out. Exeter Chiefs head coach Ali Hepher told BBC Radio Devon: "We pushed hard in the early stages and maybe had a few opportunities that we didn't take. But as we grew into the game we became a little more clinical and scored a few tries. "We got ourselves back on par a little bit with the away win last week and it was important we backed that up today with the win. "Now we've got to get ourselves in credit with an away win, we'll go hunting that next week and hopefully we can get it. On Sam Simmonds: "We're pleased to let him loose on the field. You can see his pace, he creates so many opportunities for us and also for himself - he's one of the best finishers out there." Worcester Warriors' try-scorer Justin Clegg told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "When you're trying as hard as we are, I think that's going to happen. When we're playing balls flat to the line and things like that and we're really desperate to get over, mistakes are bound to happen. "But it's about how we react to that and I think we've just got to keep going and going." Exeter: Hogg; Cordero, Slade (capt), Hendrickson, O'Flaherty, H Skinner, Maunder; Hepburn, Cowan-Dickie, Williams, Witty, Hill, Ewers, Capstick, S Simmonds.
