  15. Activision and Sledgehammer Games recently showed off a new story trailer for their upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign. The two-minute video highlights the full cast of operators that players will get to know in the campaign, which takes place both during and after World War II. The Call of Duty: Vanguard trailer reveals that after Hitler’s Germany fell, an underground group of Germans attempted to give birth to "The Fourth Reich" and it's up to our gang of heroes to stop them. Activision is going all out in this new iteration for the Call of Duty series. During the Vanguard campaign, players will span through several fronts of war and jump through various characters demanded by the situation. Most people know the Call of Duty series for its intense multiplayer and, even more nowadays, for its Warzone battle royale, however, its cinematic campaigns are also a huge selling point for fans each year. RELATED:Zombies Fan Shares Excellent Concept For Call Of Duty: Vanguard’s Perks In the new story trailer, players get to meet the characters who will bring the story to life. The trailer shows off Call of Duty: Vanguard's main character, Arthur Kingsley, who leads the team, alongside Lucas, the resident demolitionist, Wade, the ace pilot, Helena, the terrifying Russian sniper, and lastly, Kingsley's right-hand man, Richard. We also get to meet the intimidating antagonist Freisinger, whose aims are to bring his own new world order to live in the final days of Hitler's reign. The story trailer is an absolute rollercoaster. It begins with a philosophical lament about the nature of war and how terrible it is. Seconds later it shows that by scenes of hardcore urban warfare on the ground, combat in realistic and violent detail with a knife to a neck, and some uncomfortable scenes to "extract information." It has some tonal whiplash but that didn't ruin the effect of how beautiful Call of Duty: Vanguard looks. Call of Duty: Vanguard's story takes the action from the deserts of North Africa right into the streets of Berlin, from the frozen forests of Russia to the skies of jungle mountain ranges. They showed that players will have some sections driven by stealth and others showcasing the explosive combat. The trailer also confirms that the Call of Duty: Vanguard digital pre-orders will automatically grant Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War players instant access to the Night Raid Mastercraft weapons and Kingsley as an operator. Call of Duty: Vanguard will release on November 5 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
  16. War Thunder is a game about war machines blowing each other to smithereens, a proven formula for fun any day of the week. It is known for having some awesome mods and a playerbase dedicated to its realistic portrayals of wartime weaponry. For some players, the realism of the war machines that make up the backbone of War Thunder is very important. This leads to some debates over the power levels of various vehicles between players, and while this is usually nothing uncharacteristically destructive, it once got taken too far. Now it has been taken too far in almost the same way, again, by an entirely different player. RELATED:War Thunder Is Coming To PS5 And Xbox Series X With Crossplay Back in July, one player got into a heated debate over the power level of one of the tanks in the game. Being an actual tank operator, they had access to the tank's blueprints and posted them on a forum to prove a point. Unfortunately, since that tank model is still in active use, that player had leaked confidential documents to win a War Thunder argument. The leak was quickly plugged, but now another player has done the same thing for an entirely different tank. In an almost note for note repeat of the previous offence, someone else claiming to be a tank crew member posted part of the manual for the tank on question. They did this to win an argument about the tank's in-game appearance, just like the previous offender. Once again, the classified information was swiftly taken down and the moderators issued a warning that this should not be a regular issue. Arguments over which War Thunder skin is best or which vehicle is too powerful right now are to be expected, but these players clearly took it way too far. Obviously someone who actually operates a tank in real life would want their tank to be one of the strongest tanks in War Thunder, a game that prides itself on being accurate to vehicle specs. But trying to prove it with highly confidential real world facts is a good way to no longer be a tank crew member very quickly. While this would have been odd enough as a one-off problem, the fact that it happened twice is no doubt somewhat disturbing to the game's developers. Perhaps more stringent matters must be taken before players start arguing about War Thunder's best aircraft the same way. War Thunder is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  17. Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next big title from Activision in the Call of Duty series, bringing the series back to WW2 again. Even before release players know quite a bit about it, including witnessing a glitch that turns dogs on the ones who called them. While most players know Call of Duty primarily for the multiplayer, few titles in the series have skimped on the story, with truly memorable beats throughout the franchise. Call of Duty: Vanguard is creating a cast of characters designed to be colorful and over the top, and is now releasing more information about them, including the game's primary antagonist. RELATED:Call Of Duty: Vanguard Multiplayer Gets Action-Packed New Trailer In addition to a brand new trailer highlighting the playable characters in Call of Duty: Vanguard's campaign, Activision has also posted brief bios of them over at the official Call of Duty website. In addition to the playable characters, the main villain of Call of Duty: Vanguard is also revealed. Surprising no one, he's a nazi and goes by the full title of SS Oberst-Gruppenfuhrer Hermann Wenzel Freisinger. Freisinger is a very high ranking official in the game, chief interrogator of the SS in fact, and the instigator of Project Phoenix. Freisinger is, in many ways, the dark mirror of the protagonist team's leader, Arthur Kingsley. Both come from noble backgrounds with a family history in conflict, but while Kingsley was raised on stories of compassion and finding compromise in politics, Freisinger was raised on tales of glory. Serving as a courier during the later part of the first World War, he is now eager to uphold his family's warrior honor, no matter who or what must be sacrificed. He likely won't be the most nuanced character, and players are as likely to mock him for it as the "historiclally accurate" WW2 Call of Duty: Vanguard sounds they have already mocked. Of course, it's important to remember that Call of Duty: Vanguard is going for a certain adventurous feel, not strictly accuracy. It wears its cheesy heart on its sleeve, to the point where its British leader protagonist is called Arthur Kingsley. Even with that tone, it's likely that Vanguard's multiplayer modes will still be fun enough to satisfy most. That said, Freisinger's bio certainly paints him as interesting, particularly when it comes to his charisma. He is described as being able to turn people against themselves with his words, which could be frightening to see unfold with an ensemble cast. Hopefully he turns out to be an awesome antagonist so that more serious issues, like early weapon glitches in Warzone, can become the center of attention, so they might be fixed. Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
  18. Far Cry 6 is in players' hands and they are picking the game apart a little at a time. In addition to the story and oodles of distractions present in every Far Cry title, players are also dealing with more fundamental questions like how to play co-op. While touble with game systems can usually be cleared up with some simple research, other parts of Far Cry 6 are not so easy to dismiss. New game mechanics like respawning enemies are frustrating some players, but not nearly as much as some of their allies. One in particular has players fed up almost immediately. RELATED:Far Cry 6 Enemy Spawns Are Frustrating Players Players have thoroughly had it with Far Cry 6's vehicle delivery man. Summoning a vehicle in Far Cry 6 is, supposedly, as easy as selecting and equipping a weapon, as they can be chosen and brought in from a handy wheel menu. While a good tip before starting Far Cry 6 is to use horses rather than cars, sometimes it cannot be helped. However, the NPC who brings the cars is a sour-puss who drives slowly and frequently blocks players from driving "his" car. For many players, the solution is simple: kill him. For various reasons, players have begun deciding that the life of the vehicle delivery man is forefit. For some it's just how slow he is in delivering the vehicles to where they are, coupled with how slowly he actually hands them over. For others, it's his snide remarks telling players not to change the radio or adjust the seat, as if the vehicle is his, not the players. And for some, it's the way he will blindly run over adorable Chorizo. Since everyone agrees that Chorizo is a dog worth dying for, it stands to reason players feel he's worth killing for too. Many players on Reddit are already bonding over their shared hatred of the vehicle deliveryman, laughingly admitting that they too have reached the end of their patience with him. It's odd that such an unimportant NPC suddenly became one of the worst things in Far Cry 6, but it is often from these random things that the best moments in video games are made. One player confessed they are looking forward to a compilation of players killing this NPC, which may well be a possibility. Many still remember the compilations players used to make of killing the Adoring Fan in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Unlike Far Cry 6's cockfighting minigame, it's unlikely anyone will step in to try and stop this violence. Far Cry 6 is out now for Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  19. Final Fantasy 14's fourth expansion, Endwalker, is just over a month away from entering Early Access. As players tie up loose ends from the Shadowbringers cycle of the game, one fan group has shared a checklist chock full of ideas for their fellow Warriors of Light to accomplish as they count down the days until Endwalker. The Phookas, named after the goofy Final Fantasy 14 creatures of the same name, are a group of three players who have come together to share their knowledge in the form of helpful graphics, videos, lists, and other media. With the recent influx of new players, they saw an opportunity to create a wholesome community with which to share their knowledge of the game's extensive secrets, for the benefit of both veterans and sprouts. RELATED:Final Fantasy 14 Players Dressing Up As Colonel Sanders, Photobombing Others The infographic in question offers a plethora of potential goals for eager fans of Final Fantasy 14 to accomplish in the weeks to come, all with a myriad of cute, colorful, and helpful pictures to guide them. From leveling the many jobs in Final Fantasy 14 to collecting various types of currencies to completing old content and farming mounts, the infographic from The Phookas provides ideas abound for players itching to busy themselves in anticipation of the new release. Despite the drought of content that always precedes an MMORPG's expansion pack release, Final Fantasy 14 has been more popular than ever before, with unprecedented numbers of new players flocking to the game from all corners of the world. While new players have over six years of content to explore, players who are all caught up with the story or who are returning after a long hiatus may find themselves aimless after catching up with the Main Scenario Quest. Helpful groups of veterans, like The Phookas, not only help illuminate the oft-confusing corners of the game, but help to build up the positive player base Final Fantasy 14 has cultivated–one of its most critically acclaimed features, especially from players ditching other MMORPGs. Luckily, players will not have to wait much longer for Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker. Early Access for players who pre-ordered the expansion pack begins on Friday, November 19th, and October 19th will see the return of the Moogle Treasure Trove event, which will provide even more incentive for players to dive into old content and claim exclusive, hard-to-get rewards in the month before Endwalker. Between the suggestions provided in The Phookas' guide, next week's ongoing event, and the Final Fantasy 14 Media Tour's NDA over Endwalker's new skills expiring on Wednesday, Warriors of Light will have plenty of things to occupy their time as they await their next adventures in Hydaelyn. Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker releases on November 23 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
  20. Late last month, Capcom finally confirmed the details surrounding the upcoming PC port of Monster Hunter Rise. The latest entry in the used-to-be-niche action-RPG series launched on the Switch in March of 2021 and remains an exclusive title until the PC port launches in January. Being that it's on PC, the Monster Hunter Rise port will support customizable controls, 4K resolution, uncapped framerates, high-res textures, and a couple of more goodies. Although the PC port for Monster Hunter Rise sounds like it has a lot going for it, Capcom has just announced that a fan-requested feature will not be making it into the PC version of the game, which might make some die-hard fans of the series upset. RELATED:Monster Hunter Rise Director Discusses 'Difficult' Optimization Of RE Engine On Switch Coming from the official Monster Hunter Twitter account today, Capcom confirmed that when Monster Hunter Rise launches on PC next year, it will not feature any sort of cross-play or cross-save. This basically means that if any Switch players were looking forward to playing with friends on PC and vice versa, it will not be possible at the moment. There will also be no way to transfer over save data between the two platforms, leaving players to start progress from scratch once the PC version releases. Even though fans have requested for this feature to be included in the PC port, Capcom is "unable to implement [crossplay and crossave] at this time." This is also the case with the new Monster Hunter Rise expansion launching next summer, as Sunbreak will not offer these wanted features as well. For those still wanting to try out the PC port of Monster Hunter Rise, they can look forward to a free demo on Steam on October 13. It's virtually the same exact demo that released on the Switch, offering hunters the chance to try out all 14 weapons and face off against the flagship beast, Magnamalo, among other monsters. The Sunbreak expansion for Rise will release at the same time on PC and Switch, and like the Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter: World, it will have a new storyline, as well as a new base of operations, new locales, new monsters, new gameplay elements, and the new Master quest rank to challenge even the most seasoned hunters. Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Switch and will release for PC on January 12, 2022.
  21. Despite the poor reception of Warcraft 3: Reforged in 2020, many gamers were still highly anticipating the release of Blizzard’s Diablo 2: Resurrected in September. The remaster features the same gameplay as the original and was supposed to provide only quality-of-life, visual, and audio upgrades. Unfortunately for many people, Diablo 2: Resurrected has been beset with server connection issues, crashes, and character deletions. Although critics rated the game well overall, the user score on Metacritic tells a different story. Diablo 2: Resurrected began being review bombed almost immediately after launch, and the game currently sits at an average user rating of 4.5 across all platforms. Blizzard has been regularly releasing hotfixes and has even shut down servers for emergency maintenance, but in many cases players reported that the game's issues were subsequently worse. RELATED:Diablo 2: Resurrected Review Now, nearly three weeks after launch, the problems with Diablo 2: Resurrected persist, with the latest being that some players couldn’t even log into the game. The issue has now supposedly been resolved, according to Blizzard’s customer service Twitter account. However, an almost identical tweet was posted on October 10 as well, and clearly the login problems were not fixed then. Over the weekend, the game experienced repeated outages and required emergency maintenance, and now the Diablo subreddit and Blizzard's social media are filled with players frustrated at their inability to enjoy the game without constant obstacles. When Diablo 2: Resurrected released, many players were not even able to play the game for several days because it would crash immediately upon launch due to an AVX issue, while others could get into the game but could not join lobbies. Another consistent issue prevented some Diablo 2: Resurrected players from accessing existing characters or creating new ones. After exiting the game, characters would disappear from the selection screen, and trying to recreate that character would result in a “character is already in a game” message. Others would log in, only to find that they had lost hours of progress. The temporary solution, according to Blizzard, was to not have online and offline characters with the same name. Outside of these major problems, players were also frequently encountering bugs like abilities not working correctly, being unable to see or type in chat, and minimaps stacking on top of one another or not updating in new locations. And while some of the maintenance performed by Blizzard is live, meaning people can continue to play while it happens, it may result in disconnects and a generally unreliable gameplay experience. Diablo 2: Resurrected is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  22. The Halo series is known for its exciting firefights. One of the contributing factors behind this mayhem is the many different types of vehicles featured in the franchise over the years. From the powerful Scorpion tank to the agile Banshee, each vehicle found across the series offers players different uses in battle. However, perhaps one of the most recognizable of these vehicles is the Ghost. A Covenant vehicle introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved, the Ghost has been a mainstay of the series ever since its release. Used to counter UNSC vehicles such as the Warthog and Mongoose, the Covenant vehicle features a set of energy cannons. In addition, these one-man attack crafts boast an impressive gravity propulsion system that allows drivers to reposition during a fight. Seen often in multiplayer matches across the series along with making numerous appearances during campaign missions, it’s no wonder that the Ghost has become iconic. Recently, one fan decided to show off a real-world version of the Covenant vehicle. RELATED:Entire Halo Infinite Team Hides From Enemies Together In a Reddit post, a user known as dragon-den-cosplay shared a video of drivable Ghost. In the clip, several Halo fans cosplaying as Spartans took turns checking out the vehicle. In addition to featuring a seat for one person, the vehicle was driveable with 3 wheels located underneath the structure. After checking out the Ghost, several of the Spartan cosplayers decided to take it for a spin around a parking lot. One of them even attached a flag to the back of the vehicle, a reference to the popular multiplayer mode Capture the Flag. The Halo community on Reddit liked this new ride shown off by dragon-den-cosplay. With over 3,300 upvotes, fans enjoyed the attention to detail on display. Using vivid purple paint, the creator managed to copy the iconic look of the vehicle. In addition, the design of the Ghost featured 2 front-facing energy cannons similar to those seen in the games. Besides this new real-world Ghost created by dragon-den-cosplay, fans recently received another chance to drive a Ghost as part of the Halo Infinite multiplayer preview. During the second weekend of the test event, players had the opportunity to jump into Big Team Battle matches. Along with the Ghost, several other iconic Halo vehicles such as the Scorpion and Warthog were playable during the multiplayer preview as well. Fortunately for players, they won’t have to wait long to see more of the Ghost as Halo Infinite launches on December 8. It will be interesting to see if this new game in the series brings with it any new vehicle designs that dragon-den-cosplay might attempt to make drivable in the real world.
  23. Back in 2006, many gamers were enthralled by the latest installment of the series with Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. The game was so good that some fans like James McAvoy became so addicted to Elder Scrolls 4 they couldn't put the game down until Skyrim. Now, gamers might be excited to see that a fan has recreated some visuals from the game using Unreal Engine 5, inspired by the Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion trailer. The clip was shared on the Elder Scrolls Reddit by a user named Altmer, although the original video was posted by a user named Hall 00117 on YouTube back in August. RELATED:Hilarious Video Reminds Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Players About Its Overly Chatty NPCs In it, they showcase the Kvatch Oblivion Gate with stunning next-gen visuals and a stunning atmospheric soundtrack taken from the original game. Hall stated that they created most of the assets in the video, with the exception of the Megascanned lava rock formations, the visual storm effects, the wheelbarrow, and the knight. In total, it took them about a couple of weeks of experimentation to complete the two-minute-long Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion video. Hall stated that the goal for them was to maintain a steady 50-65fps for the video. However, there are occasional stutters throughout the video with the mix of particle effects and nanite meshes with 8k textures. Some criticism that was brought up was that some people are tired of seeing similar trailers with dim lighting and bland color palettes in favor of something more colorful. However, the color choice fits the original aesthetic of the game, and the trailer only means to pay homage. Luckily, this doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment. Some fans admire Hall's work and stated that Elder Scrolls 4 deserves a remake, calling for Bethesda to step its game up for the next installment. Others were reminiscing about their first experiences with the game back when they were younger. For many, they first saw these gates back when they were younger than 10. So seeing these gates in a fresh coat of paint brings back some memories. Some are even hoping Bethesda brings these sorts of visuals into Elder Scrolls 6 when it eventually comes out. Ideally, Bethesda will also give Elder Scrolls 4 a similar remastering treatment to Skyrim. Fans will likely reminisce about their favorite Elder Scrolls 4 moment through this trailer and keep pushing for a remake in the near future. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and backward compatible on PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  24. Every year, Overwatch hosts its Halloween Terror event, letting players try the PvE Junkenstein's Revenge mode and adding a slew of new character skins for them to collect. The Overwatch Halloween Terror event for 2021 kicks off on October 12 and lasts until November 2. In the meantime, Blizzard has given fans a sneak peek at its Overwatch Halloween Terror plans for 2021, which include some brand new skins for Damage hero Echo and Tank hero Reinhardt. While the Halloween Terror event is live, Overwatch fans will be able to get the Vampire Bat Echo skin, which gives the robotic character a brand new look appropriate for the season. This new Vampire Bat skin for Echo is easily one of her most elaborate skins to date, so it should definitely prove to be popular for fans of the character. Plus, it marks the first time that Echo has ever received a Halloween skin. Echo's other Overwatch seasonal event skins include the Surf's Up skin from the Summer Games and the Kkachi skin from the Chinese New Year. RELATED:Detailed Overwatch Fan Art Gives D.Va A Casual Look Love at first bite. Fly into the darkness as Vampire Bat Echo (Legendary). Overwatch Halloween Terror begins Oct 12! pic.twitter.com/iDMJdQstSc — Overwatch (@PlayOverwatch) October 11, 2021 Blizzard also revealed a new Reinhardt skin that's coming as part of the Overwatch Halloween Terror 2021 event. The Draugr Reinhardt skin will also be available for Overwatch fans to collect during the Halloween Terror event, joining the previously released Coldhardt skin. I'm back. Lift your spirits as Draugr Reinhardt in Overwatch Halloween Terror. Live Oct 12. pic.twitter.com/U56ZeOnlUC — Overwatch (@PlayOverwatch) October 10, 2021 Besides Echo and Reinhardt, Overwatch has also revealed a new skin coming for Roadhog. As part of the Overwatch Halloween Terror 2021 announcement trailer, Blizzard pulled the curtain back on a new Roadhog skin inspired by the terrifying Pennywise from Stephen King's IT. Blizzard hasn't revealed any other new Halloween skins at the time of this writing, but it's certainly possible that there are more in store for fans. While the Halloween Terror 2021 event will add new Halloween skins for Overwatch fans to unlock, it will also give them the opportunity to grab skins from previous years that they've missed out on. Whenever Blizzard brings back a seasonal event, the skins from previous iterations of that event are made available again, but at a significant discount. So anyone that has a decent pile of Overwatch gold saved up could grab a few skins while Halloween Terror is live. Looking ahead, there will be one more Overwatch seasonal event before the year is out. Winter Wonderland will almost assuredly kick off in December, bringing Christmas and winter-themed content to the hero shooter for a limited time. And just like with Halloween Terror, Winter Wonderland will include new skins for fans to unlock as well. Overwatch is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
