  1. Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is coming soon, and with it, a slew of exciting events for Warriors of Light to spend their time with until the expansion's release. One of the most recent events is Breaking Brick Mountains–the return of the game's collaboration event with Dragon Quest X, which gives new players another chance to experience the event and earn its exclusive rewards. Final Fantasy 14 players who accept the quest will be sent to investigate and deal with an invasion of mysterious golems unlike any that have been seen in Eorzea before. The quest itself is charming, and provides a short, memorable, and wacky break from the ever-pressing duties of a Warrior of Light, which fans of Final Fantasy 14 or Dragon Quest can enjoy. RELATED:Final Fantasy 14 Fans Make Adorable Checklist To Prepare Players For Endwalker Starting October 19th through November 11th, the Breaking Brick Mountains quest will be available in Ul'dah, one of Final Fantasy 14's three major cities, right outside of the Adventurer's Guild. Players can pick up the quest as early as level 7, so just about every player can complete this event. After completing a special FATE open-world battle in one of several locations, players will be rewarded with the pig-like Thug's Mug helmet and the Brickman minion, as well as a hilarious cutscene–but make sure to visit the Toughie NPC near the quest giver and purchase the delightfully jiggly King Slime Crown and wear the iconic Dragon Quest monster on your head. This event first took place back in 2014, less than a year after A Realm Reborn was launched. Since then, Final Fantasy 14 has rerun the event in 2017 and 2020, making this the fourth time it has been available. Final Fantasy 14's overwhelming success since the launch of the critically-acclaimed Shadowbringers expansion has seen a massive boom in player population, so rerunning this event is a golden opportunity to include new players in content they otherwise would not have been able to see. For players who have completed the event before, don’t worry: the quest can be repeated using the Seasonal Event Replay Feature, which can be accessed from the original quest giver. Breaking Brick Mountains was Final Fantasy 14's second crossover event, with the first being a crossover with Final Fantasy 13. Since then, the game has had myriad crossovers with other games like Nier: Automata and Monster Hunter; shows like Yo-kai Watch and GARO; and other Final Fantasy titles like Final Fantasy 11 and Final Fantasy Tactics. One such crossover with Final Fantasy 15, A Nocturne for Heroes, is ongoing until the 18th, shortly before Breaking Brick Mountains begins. Final Fantasy 14 announced the Moogle Treasure Trove event's return alongside Breaking Brick Mountains, so players will have plenty of exclusive rewards to collect before Endwalker's release in a month. Between these events, the press releases from the Media Tour starting tomorrow, and the 67th Live Letter from the Producer two weeks before Early Access begins, it is an exciting time to be a Warrior of Light. Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker releases on November 23 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
  2. When it comes to PC first-person shooters, id Software's Quake fills many older gamers fond memories of its dark and medieval environments. The gothic FPS was recently given a bit of a modern polish and released on PC and consoles much to the fan's delight and surprise. However, today Bethesda announced that the 1996 maze-like phenomenon Quake is getting another free upgrade. Bethesda has revealed that Quake has received a free next-gen upgrade for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5), now running at up to 4K and 120 frames-per-second. The 25th anniversary enhanced edition of Quake, which bundles together the game and its two official expansions, was already an extremely solid touch-up to the quarter-century-old FPS classic. Players were able to explore levels, face monsters, have an improved multiplayer system, and finding secret areas all over again with the next-gen specs. However, the newly released next-gen upgrade adds a little extra power for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 owners. RELATED:Why Quake Remastered Is Still Worth Playing In 2021 Once installed, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 will both run Quake at 120fps with a maximum resolution of 4K. According to the release on Bethesda's blog: "We are excited to launch Quake on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5. Anyone who purchased Quake on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 is eligible for a free next-gen upgrade on the same console family. The next-gen versions are also available for direct digital purchase from next-gen platforms on the (Xbox) Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store. Additionally, free upgrades are available to Xbox Game Pass members who have the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S." As long as players have the compatible monitor required for 4K and 120FPS, the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions will work fine. Xbox will also support Xbox Play Anywhere which means if you own Quake on console, you'll get the PC version at no extra charge (or vice-versa). PlayStation users will be able to use their DualSense Adaptive Trigger and integrated speaker support. Nintendo Switch users were left out of the fun. While it doesn't support 4K or 120 FPS, however, the Switch version of Quake now supports a mouse and keyboard. The rerelease of Quake was unexpected, and even co-designer John Romero was happy to see Quake now included a map he designed that never made it to the original 1996 release. Before this newest update, the remastered game had a decent makeover, which included improvements to some of the visuals, the reinstatement of Trent Reznor's soundtrack, and the inclusion of the official expansion packs. It has been a welcome update for fans of the original game. With the Quake remaster out, the new 4K 120fps update, and all its beautiful additional content, it seems as though fans are ready for a full-on remake. Fans are ready for a modern Quake, especially since both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal have been so successful, not to mention the fans that flocked to Quake Champions. The remastered version of Quake is on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. Quake's next-gen upgrade is totally free to download for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
  3. With the new season for Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, both games are receiving new content for players to enjoy. There will even be an upcoming Call of Duty Halloween event called The Haunting, along with new weapons, skins, and more for players to enjoy. However, the new content for Call of Duty: Warzone isn't over yet. With Call of Duty: Vanguard only one month away from release on November 5, the game will be integrating with Call of Duty: Warzone. Before the game's integration, a new post reveals that players will have the opportunity this October to see what Vanguard content is like before release with Season 6's Battle Pass. RELATED:Call Of Duty: Warzone Players Are Using A Squid Game-Inspired Loadout According to the post, Call of Duty: Vanguard's developer Sledgehammer Games is making 24 items from Vanguard available for Call of Duty: Warzone starting today. This is part of Sledgehammer's partnership with the other Call of Duty developer studios, including Raven Software, and the items will be available through the Season 6 Battle Pass. Better yet, the new Vanguard items can also all be earned for free by playing either Warzone or Black Ops Cold War. The post also provides information on how players can integrate two of the new functional weapons into their Loadouts. With the new Tiers come two new weapons for players to use: a German-manufactured Assault Rifle and the U.S. standard service M1 Garand Marksman Rifle. Both weapons will be available as Weapon Blueprints with two for each base weapon through the free Tiers in the Battle Pass. Players only using the weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone will earn Weapon XP for them, and the progress will be tracked and carry over into Call of Duty: Vanguard. However, the post states that there will be some restrictions, such as the Gunsmith will not be available for either base weapon when they're initially released on October 12. Also, the weapon attachments, camouflages, and challenges will be inaccessible. These features for the weapons, and dozens of other weapons, will be enabled in Call of Duty: Vanguard when it launches on November 5 and later this year in Warzone. For now, players can't edit the Blueprints or use the base weapons of either of these two new guns. However, playing with the Weapon Blueprints now will give them a head start for using the base weapons and all of their full attachments and camouflages when Call of Duty: Vanguard launches and also in Warzone after the Season 1 integration. The 24 new Vanguard items can be unlocked today and used immediately in Warzone, and they'll be available in Vanguard when it launches on November 5. Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  4. With DC FanDome 2021 fast approaching, WB Interactive is ramping up the promotion of the games it plans to show off. With Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady and WB Interactive has taken an old-school approach to the promo: a phone number. Interested fans can call or text (310) 564-7047 that will get them in contact with Amanda Waller leader of A.R.G.U.S. She answers, believing that the callers are Harley Quinn prank calling her and berates fans for wasting time and focus on the mission to "kill the Justice League." Texting the number will send an automated prompt from "Amanda Waller" asking if fans have A.R.G.U.S clearance. There will be a link attachment for join a Community group. After signing up, there will be another text confirming entry but "Amanda Waller" doesn't promise to keep in contact. She's not a babysitter, after all. RELATED:Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League Reveals New Character Art “I know this is you, Harley. I have given you weapons, resources, and full sign-off to execute the Justice League and you’re here spending my time on prank calls? Stop screwing around and take the targets down. Now!” Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is described as a "genre-bending" action-adventure shooter game made by Rocksteady Studios. Rocksteady was the studio behind the beloved Batman: Arkham games, so expectations have been set pretty high as to what could be coming from this game. The game will be an open-world game with the team consisting of 4 characters, including the player and 3 others, either via online multiplayer or propagated by AI for solo play. The game will be set in Metropolis overrun by some form of corruption that has let loose a horde of monsters upon the city. The playable characters consist of Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark. As of now, there is no further information as to what happened to the Justice League that calls for this drastic action for Amanda Waller and A.R.G.U.S to need to form this team. +1 (310) 564-7047 — Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (@suicidesquadRS) October 12, 2021 DC FanDome starts October 16th from 1 PM EST and should feature a new gameplay trailer and more information about how the game looks and plays. There will be more reveals from DC such as a new preview of Gotham Knights, and trailers from DC movies and TV shows in the works. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set for release in 2022 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
  5. The Mario Party franchise is a recurring series published by Nintendo. Starting on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, the following installments have featured on many different Nintendo platforms. While the Mario Party series has gone through various iterations over the years, the next game in the franchise, Mario Party Superstars, takes inspiration from some of the earliest games in the collection. Recently, Nintendo released a new trailer for Mario Party Superstars, giving fans a deeper look at what to expect from the upcoming game that features elements from existing games. With an enthusiastic announcer providing narration, players received an overview of the content included in the title, such as game modes and boards. RELATED:Every Mario Party Superstars Mini-Game Has Been Confirmed By Nintendo Japan Among the many details shown in the trailer, Nintendo gave players another look at the 5 boards coming at launch. These boards based on the first 3 Mario Party games from the Nintendo 64 include Peach’s Birthday Cake, Woody Woods, Yoshi’s Tropical Island, Horror Land, and Space Land. Each of these boards contains unique features, such as King Boo, who can steal stars on the Horror Land board, or the Bowser Coin Beam, which takes coins from players on Space Land. In addition, all of these maps support online play and include random matchmaking for those that want to face off against other players from around the globe. One other highlight noted in the trailer was the addition of stickers that allow players to communicate with other party members, a feature that could come in handy for random matchmaking. Furthermore, players can save games and finish them at a later time when playing with friends. In addition to a closer look at these updated classic boards, the trailer provided a look at some of the minigames available in the game. Some classic minigames from the Mario Party series making a return in Mario Party Superstars include Face-Lift, Hot Rope Jump, Goomba Spotting, and Pushy Penguins. Fans received a look at Mt. Minigames as well. A hub to play the numerous minigames found in the game, players caught a glimpse at some of the courses such as Sports and Puzzles, Survival, Tag Match, and Daily Challenge. In addition, the video noted that these modes, like standard Mario Party mode, include support for online play. Besides the release of Mario Party Superstars later this month, Nintendo recently launched Metroid Dread. The newest installment in the Metroid franchise, the game centers on Samus Aran as she takes on another dangerous mission, this time on the planet ZDR. As the first new Metroid game to release on the Switch, Metroid Dread has already broken sales records in the UK. Mario Party Superstars launches on the Nintendo Switch on October 29th.
  6. First announced last year at the Xbox Games Showcase, Avowed is a first-person action RPG that is part of the Pillars of Eternity universe. Though there hasn't been much coverage on the game lately, new details on this Microsoft exclusive have surfaced around multiple classes and a two-handed combat system like the one found in Skyrim. Developer Obsidian is no stranger to RPGs, with titles like Fallout New Vegas, Dungeon Siege 3, and The Outer Worlds in its roster. The team has boasted Avowed will be an "epic, triple-A" title with plenty of quests and exploration to keep gamers busy. The story takes place in Eora, a medieval fantasy setting with continents, magic, islands, and mysterious creatures. Fans of the Pillars of Eternity games may have noticed the banners embellished with the crown that signifying the goddess of justice and law, Woedica at the beginning of the announcement trailer. Towards the end of the trailer, many also noticed a character dual-wielding magic and a glowing sword etched with runes. Recent news confirms that this will be a mechanic in the highly anticipated game. RELATEDAvowed, The Outer Worlds 2, And Secret Obsidian Project All In Playable States As the team at Obsidian get closer to a playable alpha, news on the progress of the game is getting out. According to Windows Central's sources, players will have options when it comes to equipping weapons and selecting a class. Options include possible classes that would wield two-handed weapons or magic or a combination of magic and a weapon. No actual classes have been revealed at this time, but fans of Pillars of Eternity will find many elements familiar such as spells, weapons, and monsters. It was noted that there will be warrior, rogue, and caster class systems, but this has not been elaborated on yet. Much like The Outer Worlds could be considered Obsidian's take on Fallout, Avowed is showing to be much like its take on the Elder Scrolls series, though with noticeable differences. The dual-wield combat system will be familiar to Skyrim players, but Windows Central sources say the mechanics will have their own distinctions. The color schemes and general lighting of Avowed are said to be much closer to The Outer Worlds versus games like Oblivion or Skyrim. Unlike the dark trailer for Avowed, there is speculation the game will feature radiant caves, luminant forests with lush vegetation, and tombs swarming with monsters. This would be closer to the brightness of The Outer Worlds games instead of the dark tones often seen in Elder Scrolls. The game is said to be based on a similar but enhanced version of the engine that was used with The Outer World, which could hint at Avowed possibly having brighter scenery from the lighting engine. In addition to the classes and dual wielding, Avowed will feature an interactive environment. This includes swimming, destroying elements of the environment, and using torches or fire spells to unlock blocked areas. However, fans will have to wait until Obsidian releases more information to confirm these details. As of right now, much is left for players to speculate as progress is made on just one of the many upcoming Xbox exclusive RPG titles. Avowed is in development for PC and Xbox Series X
  7. With Halloween right around the corner, Destiny 2 is taking a fittingly spooky turn with 2021's iteration of Festival of the Lost. The event brings with it plenty of new loot for guardians to grind for, whether they simply want some cosmetics befitting the time of year or one of the weapons available to earn. However, one particular mask available for 2021's festival is getting players attention thanks to its over-the-top look and creative wordplay. Festival of the Lost is one of Destiny 2's regular seasonal events available to all players around Halloween. Like other seasonal events, the primary vendor is Eva Levante who arrives in the Tower with a seasonal quest, bounties, and event-themed rewards for players to grind for along with a variety of cosmetics avaiable in the game's Eververse storefront. The most notable new rewards to grind for in 2021's Festival of the Lost include the Jurassic Green pulse rifle and new dinosaur-inspired armor sets for each character-type. RELATED:Destiny 2 Festival Of The Lost Trailer Reveals Haunted Sectors And New Cosmetics That said, the mask which has players attention this time around is the cleverly named Honk Moon mask. As the name implies, the mask sees player don an appropriately-sized version of Earth's moon with two red eyes and horn acting as the mask's proverbial mouth. Longtime Destiny players can easily pickup on the mask's namesake, taking inspiration from the popular hand cannon Hawkmoon. Players have taken to social media to share their appreciation of the mask and its humorous name to help kick off the Festival of the Lost. Reddit user IMistral shared their appreciation for the mask in a thread dedicated to it, thanking Bungie for giving players such an over-the-top mask. This sentiment was shared with many users commenting in the thread, to which Bungie community manager Cosmo said players "asked for Honk Moon" and it was their fault the mask exists. Bungie hasn't shied away from the ridiculous when it comes to Festival of the Lost and the masks available to players. The variety ranges from a chicken head inspired by Cayde-6's beloved chicken Colonel to one based on the Glitterball ghost shell to give players a different kind of shine. A more recent example is a mask based on the penguin toys found all over Europa which players can buy from Eververse. However, it is fair to say the Honk Moon might be the most ridiculous items Bungie has made for Destiny 2 in the game's lifespan. Whether or not the studio will be able to outdo itself when the next Festival of the Lost comes around remains to be seen. Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  8. After fifteen years and eight expansion packs, it is safe to say World of Warcraft has an iconic and recognizable style, especially in its many world and region maps. Redditor ConservationOfWumbo has taken that recognizable style and has been using it to recreate the United States of America as if it were another region in Azeroth. ConservationOfWumbo first showed off his state maps in the World of Warcraft style back in July of this year. Since then, they have been cranking out map after map. In just a few months, they've already completed almost a third of the United States, including some of the largest states. RELATED:World Of Warcraft Fan Makes WoW-Style Map Of Oregon The first batch of maps included Pennsylvania, the Carolinas, Virginia, and Maryland, and their second update included maps of New York, New Jersey, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. Most recently, they revealed the completed maps for Idaho and California, the latter of which was large enough that it could be split in to, akin to the Barrens of Kalimdor in World of Warcraft. At first glance, the maps themselves could easily be mistaken for a region in the game, with highways and interstates converted into roads and major capitals and cities transformed into towns and villages. Major landmarks also appear, such as Death Valley, the Mojave Desert, and even the wildfires that so frequently plague the West Coast. ConservationOfWumbo is not taking requests for this project, and is focusing on whichever maps strike their fancy at the time, as it is primarily a fan project. But they do plan on eventually converting the entire United States into a World of Warcraft-like region map. As long as they continue to enjoy making these, ConservationOfWumbo has expressed interest in doing a map of the United Kingdoms after finishing up the United States. The beautiful style ConservationOfWumbo has replicated from the game also inspired another artist, Winston-91, to create a map of The Netherlands in the World of Warcraft style. ConservationOfWumbo, who saw and complimented Winston-91's work, seems to have started another trend of artistic renditions inspired by World of Warcraft. Perhaps if this trend spreads further, the World of Warcraft community join their artwork together and make a map of all of Earth in the style of Azeroth.
  9. Overwatch is well known for its creative library of gorgeous skins and Blizzard has released even more as part of this year's Halloween Terror event. Not only are Overwatch players getting access to eight new chilling skins, a treasure trove of previously-released spooky skins are making their return, as are the Junkenstein’s Revenge and Junkenstein’s Endless multiplayer modes. A new trailer uploaded to Overwatch's official social media channels shows off the new skins, some of the challenges gamers will face during the event, and some of the time-limited unlockable rewards. The "Overwatch Seasonal Event | Halloween Terror 2021" video takes heavy inspiration from oldschool direct-to-video horror movies, its presentation leaning into cheap effects and cheesy scares. The trailer puts a spotlight on the new Halloween skins like Vampire Hunter Brigitte, who is the apparent protagonist of the event. RELATED:Overwatch Trick Gets Players 'Flying Bastion' Using Symmetra And Mei In the video, the event is presented in the form of a trailer for a supposed horror B-movie called "Junkenstein’s Revenge 6: The Zomnic Huntress." The titular huntress is being played by Vampire Hunter Brigitte, with Draugr Reinhardt appearing as the Draugr Captain, Satyr Lucio as the Satyr King, Coffin Bastion as Count Coffin, and Vampire Bat Echo as the Bat Queen. The trailer goes on to announce that a variety of special guests will also be appearing--namely, the other Halloween skins that featured in previous events. Also featured in the trailer are a number of example animations and voicelines from an array of Halloween skins as well as gameplay footage from the 2021 Overwatch Halloween event. The video highlights the event's three weekly challenges, the first of which will be available from October 12-October 19, the second from October 19-26, and the third from October 26-November 2. Each weekly challenge will reward players with icons, sprays, and Epic Skins for Skeleton Genji, Einherjar Zarya, and Clown Roadhog respectively. As of writing, it appears that Overwatch fans are excited about the new Halloween skins. Two conversations on the original YouTube video expressed enthusiasm for the new Skeleton Genji and Satyr Lucio skins, while another applauded the decision to present the trailer as an old VHS tape, complete with a brief glimpse of the Christmas skins as though another tape had been recorded over. However, a number of other users complained about Junkenstein's Revenge returning, apparently having hoped that Overwatch would give fans a new Halloween event instead. Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
  10. Austin City Limits has apologised to Phoebe Bridgers after abruptly cutting her set short. The 27-year-old folk-rock star played the Texas music event over the weekend, and her performance of 'I Know The End' was interrupted by what the festival has now claimed to be a “miscommunication on stage by ACL Festival personnel”. As well as issuing an apology, ACL has also donated to Texas Abortion Funds, which Phoebe has supported. A spokesperson told the Austin American-Statesman: “We wish this had not happened and extend our apologies to Phoebe. After positive conversations between festival organisers and the artist about the situation, ACL Fest has made a donation to Texas Abortion Funds to show our support for Phoebe and an organisation close to her heart." And the ‘Kyoto’ has responded on Twitter: "Thank you." Meanwhile, Phoebe recently admitted she is cautious not to overshare on social media because she’s “terrified” about reading her own Twitter posts in the future. She added: “I am terrified of myself reading my tweets from now, in five years' time. I don't want to be embarrassed and like, ‘Ugh you were 26 and tweeting about UTIs – what were you doing?’" However, the musician insisted she doesn't think social media is harmful to most people's mental health, as she believes sites like TikTok actually create a healthy environment for everyone to talk about how they are feeling without stigma or judgement. She said: “There’s way more good about TikTok than bad. Within the context of the world that we are in, TikTok is great ... But, for the most part, I think it’s a good thing that therapy and mental health is destigmatised.”
  11. George Michael and Wham!'s longtime bassist, Deon Estus, has died. The late music legend's long-serving band member during his stint in the 'Club Tropicana' group and solo career sadly passed away aged 65 on Monday (11.10.21). A statement on Deon's Twitter page read: "It is with real sadness I post that Deon Estus passed away This Morning. Deon was mostly known as the third member of Wham! Deon was passionate about music and loved interacting with his loyal fans." As well as being an exceptional bassist, Deon co-wrote the song 'Heaven Help Me' with George, with his iconic vocals featured on the track, and the hit made the top 5 in 1989 in the US. Deon also played bass for music legends including Tina Turner, Frank Zappa, George Clinton, Annie Lennox, and Sir Elton John. Tributes have poured in for the musician, with Wham! backing singer Shirlie Kemp tweeting: "Shocked to hear the passing of such a lovely man. Spent so many years with Deon touring with Wham. God Bless..RIP @DeonEstus (sic)" Deon started his career in the R&B band Brainstorm as a teenager, and they went on to have a hit with 'Popcorn'. He then turned down the chance to appear on Marvin Gaye's 1982 album 'Midnight Love'. After touring with Wham!, Deon released the solo album 'Spell' in 1989, with many of the tracks produced by George. He continued playing for the 'Careless Whisper' singer until his death in December 2016 aged 53. Reacting to the devastating news of the 'Freedom' hitmaker's passing, Deon said at the time: "I’m still in shock. It hasn’t quite hit me yet, but it helps to talk about it and to think about all those fantastic tours, all those records, all the people he’s helped and all the things he’s done, which is a lot. I was blessed to have known him.”
  12. Last night Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small spoke to Jesy Nelson talks about not having a bloody clue what to do with her life when she left Little Mix, how she got Nicki Minaj to do a track with her and what things she wouldn’t tolerate from a man on Nova’s Smallzy’s Surgery. Jesy Nelson talks about not having a bloody clue what to do with her life when she left Little Mix. Since we spoke last couple of changes in your life – new music (Boyz) and on your own. Was it always part of the plan, did you always have an inkling that you wanted to do this? Was it a hard decision to come to or did you go nah now's the time? Jesy said, “To be honest, I mean after I left the band, I had a little bit of time to think about what I was going to do with my life because, if I am honest, I didn’t have a bloody clue. Then I stayed in contact with these two guys ‘Loose Change’ who done the first single, and they will actually like do you just want to come in the studio and maybe like write for other people, just take your mind off of things. Music to me is such a like form of therapy like, music can heal all to be honest like it's something for me personally that can take me out of the worst headspace and put me in a good mood. So yeah went into the studio and weirdly this was the first song that we ever wrote which is crazy, because normally when you like are going into write music that never normally happens. It takes a little bit of time so yeah to write my first single, in my first ever session, was just crazy to me but like it was just felt really natural.” “Normally the first ones (songs you write) normally never seen the light of day, let's say that was good, that was a nice warm up, but we'll do nothing with this – right” said Smallzy Jesy said, “I'm just I'm so excited for everyone's here I just hope everyone loves it as much as I do. I feel like I've literally put my heart and soul into this.” Part 2 of audio is here - https://omny.fm/shows/nova/novas-smallzy-chats-to-jesy-nelson-pt2 Just played the new track. Love it. You've teamed up with Nicki Minaj, how did you end up getting Nicki to do the track? Jesy said “I always knew that I wanted Nicki on it, she's the queen of rap to me. She heard the song, she loved it and I’m obsessed with her verse, I love that she's on it.” From “OnlyFans to snapping at waiters – what bad boy behaviour is too much for Jesy Nelson - https://twitter.com/Smallzy/status/1447500196204535812 The song all about bad boys. Would you put with this if a bad boy did it, pretend you're in a relationship - where is your level? What is your you know what I can handle that? Leaving the toilet seat up? “Leaving the toilet seat up, I would tolerate that. That's not a that's not a bad thing. They would be told”, said Jesy. Picking their nose leaving the boogers on the bedside table? Jesy said, “What is that what you do? That is absolutely rotten, no, get out of my house if you did that.” What would you do snaps at a waiter to get their attention in a restaurant? Jesy said, “Literally I would get up and walk out? Never, that is so rude. I've never experienced that ever but if I did, I would tell them about themselves and I’d leave. You’ve got no manners if you do that.” What if you’ve been seeing someone for a few months and you find they are subscribed to someone's Only Fans, would you tolerate that or would it be a deal breaker? Jesy said, “For me a few months in is still quite deep in the relationship. If this was like, three weeks, then I'd be like, right okay, I’d be like, so babe do you think you're gonna get rid of that only fans and if not, they're out.” Have you got a message for your Australian fans? Jesy said, “Yes, I just want to say to all the Aussie fans that I just love you so much and I literally cannot thank you enough for all the support you've been showing me, and I'm just really hoping to get out there soon as soon as I can and just give them all a big hugs when I see them.”
  13. Fans at Coldplay’s comeback London gig this evening will be greeted with a familiar face after Chris Martin invited singer and Hits Radio presenter Fleur East to perform with the band. Well-known for their epic stage shows, Coldplay revel in delighting their audiences with everything from surprise duets to flashing wristbands. Keeping with tradition they promised that they have “a couple of things going on” for this evening’s intimate gig for just 2,000 lucky fans, one of which will now include the surprise appearance of Fleur after she interviewed bandmates Chris and Jonny for Hits Radio. Fleur was speaking about her favourite track ‘ - Human Heart ‘on their new album when Chris asked her if she’d be interested in joining them on stage to perform it. “Do you want to come and perform it with us on Tuesday? Want to come and perform it with Paris and Amber (US R&B duo, We Are King) and me?” Fleur let out an audible gasp saying she’d love to before asking if she was being pranked by the band. Chris confirmed it wasn’t a prank saying, “It’s for real. And do the girl’s bit? Alright, let’s do it… I’m serious Fleur because you’re brilliant so if you want to come and do it, we would love that.” Also, in the interview which airs in full this Friday, Chris spoke about how the band’s collaboration with pop megastars BTS came about. Chris said “It was a joy working with them. Because the song is about love that is difficult and has to overcome some boundaries, it just felt really good to be doing with a band... no one would ever put us together, those two bands. So there was the story of the song in the collaboration too.” Continuing, Chris said “They were just really cool to work with. We love them, they’re our little brothers. When it comes to playing it live without them, then we keep a bit of them on track and I sing what I can”. He joked “I just can’t do Suga’s rap or J Hope’s rap because that’d beyond my Korean.” Chris also shared, “My god daughter Tilly who is Simon Pegg’s daughter, she’s a massive ARMY, she’s who got me into BTS. We were talking about the rap line and the singing line. So, I said to her do you think we should ask Suga and J Hope if they want to do a rap in this song? And she said yeah definitely.” Hits Radio is broadcasting Coldplay's London O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire concert, which is in celebration of their incredible new album ‘Music of the Spheres’. Broadcast on album release day this Friday 15th October, you can listen to extended highlights from the gig as well as the Coldplay interview in full from 7pm. Head to hitsradio.co.uk
  14. Demi Lovato believes the term "alien" is offensive. The Dancing with the Devil singer, who uses they/them pronouns, spoke to Australian publication PEDESTRIAN.tv about their new Peacock series, Unidentified, where they explore unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and related topics with their sister Dallas and best friend Matthew Scott Montgomery. Asked about the inspiration for the project, the 29-year-old singer said they have been a "believer" in UFOs their entire life, and that the four-part series attempts to move away from negative depictions of extraterrestrials. "I think that if there were beings that could harm us, we would have been gone a long time ago," they explained. "I also think that if there are civilisations that are of consciousness in other dimensions, which has given them the technology to be able to travel through space, I think that they are looking for nothing but peaceful encounters and interactions because like I said, if they wanted us gone, we would have been gone a long time ago!" Lovato mused about the importance of moving away from the term "alien" as a way of dispelling negative assumptions about potential life in the universe. They said that they are bothered by misconceptions about extraterrestrial life being out to harm humans. "I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now," the singer continued. "But I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything. That's why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that's a little tidbit. A little information that I learned
  15. Nicki Minaj blasted Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock during an Instagram Live chat with the singer's former bandmate Jesy Nelson on Monday night. Towards the end of the conversation, which was designed to promote their new collaboration Boyz, the Starships rapper referenced private messages that Pinnock allegedly sent an Instagram content creator, who posted them on social media. In the unverified exchange, Pinnock purportedly encouraged the user to make a video about Nelson's "blackfishing" - making herself look racially ambiguous - and wrote that the singer, who left the group in December, "cut us off" and is a "horrible person". During her explicit rant, Minaj slammed Pinnock, who recently gave birth to twins, and accused her of being "jealous" of her former bandmate. "Take them text messages and shove it up your f**king a*s, because when you do clown s**t I got to treat you and talk to you like you a clown," she began. "If you was in this woman's group and you ain't talk about this s**t for 10 years... and as soon as you see she got a video coming out with Nicki Minaj and Puffy, now you sending text messages and all this s**t. "Stop trying to hurt people and kill people's lives and careers, this is the way people feed their families. Stop - if you want a solo career, baby girl, just say that... Only jealous people do things like this. It makes you a big jealous bozo. I love you guys but please don't do this. Let these people be miserable all by themselves." Nelson, who has come under fire for sitting quietly and occasionally laughing during Minaj's tirade, went on to say that one of her bandmates - presumed to be Pinnock - brought up blackfishing with her on the set of her last Little Mix video Sweet Melody. After the Live concluded, the rapper posted a now-deleted video on Instagram asking why Pinnock didn't make any comments when the band collaborated with Minaj on their 2018 single Woman Like Me. She continued her criticisms over on Twitter too, writing, "Don’t call things out when they benefit your personal vendetta to ppl. Call them out immediately once you see it chile. Don’t wait a decade after you’ve made millions with the person (sic). "JeLeigh b*chs actin real messy. ~ if you know someone has been suicidal from bullying in the past, why try to get a bunch of ppl to bully them again about smthng else, on an even bigger scale? Shame on you— that’s rlly sad. You don’t know what ppl can deal with (sic)."

The indie rockers fronted by Kiaran Crook are gearing up to release their new album, 'World I Understand', and they've announced a string of dates for early next year, kicking off on February 4 in Blackpool and wrapping at London's O2 Academy Islington on March 12. Frontman Kiaran - who is joined by brother Brandon Crook and new members Alex Procter and Trent Jackson in the group - said: "We can't wait to get back out on tour with this new record. "It is without a doubt our strongest one yet, and one that's readymade for the live performances. It's gonna be an absolute monster of a tour and we look forward to seeing you all at the front soon!" The 'Chasing Shadows' rockers recently released their third studio album's title track. The upcoming LP is the follow-up to 2019's 'Under Your Sky'. Meanwhile, The Sherlocks are currently on the 'Keep Our Independent Venues Alive' tour. Kiaran and co are performing at some of the UK's beloved grassroots venues which have been hit hard financially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The run continues at The Parish in Wrexham, Wales, on October 14. Kiaran previously warned that without grassroots venues "the next generation of bands can't survive". He said: "A huge part of this industry relies on live gigs, and it's not just the bands who are suffering as a result! It's the venues, the staff, the guitar/drum techs, the sound engineers, the roadies.... the whole package! We hope this tour can help support these grassroot spaces which in turn helps those connected and gives upcoming bands the platform to grow. "The message is simple. Without these venues, the next generation of bands can't survive. Let's take this tour to send a thank you to all the amazing places that have helped build some of the world's most successful and inspiring bands!" 17. Cardi B has defended taking a trip to Paris after successfully getting a court date postponed due to travel safety concerns. The Bodak Yellow rapper is being sued by Kevin Brophy Jr, who claimed Cardi used his distinctive back tattoo on the cover of her 2016 debut mixtape Gangsta B**ch Music, Vol. 1 without his permission, and she recently got their trial date successfully postponed from October 2021 to February 2022 by insisting that she needed to avoid risky travel. Brophy slammed the music star last week after she flew to the French capital with her husband Offset to attend Paris Fashion Week and asked for the trial to be brought forward to December. Cardi has now responded in a statement to a federal judge, insisting that the short trip to Paris is very different from the three-week stay in California that would be needed for the trial. She explained that her daughter Kulture, three, and one-month-old son were cared for by her mother and "a baby nurse" while she was away in France and she coordinated with a doctor about the trip and took multiple Covid-19 precautions to maintain her family's safety. "That opportunity was so important and compelling to my career that I could not reasonably turn it down, provided of course that we were able to make adequate provision for the care of our children for the few days my husband and I would be gone," she wrote, reports Rolling Stone. "The children would have had to be looked after here in California, away from me for extended periods while I would be gone for trial preparation meetings, traveling to and from court, and in the courtroom all day every day during the trial. "I was also concerned I would be distracted and exhausted prior to and during the trial, not only from the travel and trying to juggle family needs and trial at the same time, but from lack of sleep due to my newborn's schedule and demands." Cardi and Brophy are scheduled to attend a settlement hearing on 1 December in a bid to avoid going to trial.
  18. Gene Simmons narrowly avoided a nasty fall at KISS' recent Tampa gig. The 'Rock and Roll All Nite' band - who are currently on their 'End of the Road' farewell tour - played a gig in Florida last weekend, and each band member had their own moving platform. And as they descended from the ceiling during the opening song ‘Detroit Rock City’, Gene's platform rocked and caused him to lose his balance. Sharing a photo of the stage prop fail on Twitter, the rock legend quipped: "We are committed to you and to putting on the greatest on Earth…even though it’s not always as safe as we want it to be. This happened 2 shows ago… (sic)" Meanwhile, Gene recently insisted KISS will quit "while the getting's good" after their world tour. The legendary rock band - who formed in 1973 - are set to call it a day after the current run concludes, and the 72-year-old bassist is adamant it's truly the end. He said: "This is the last go-around. Sure you could play into your 80s, but we're quitting while the getting's good. It's about dignity, self-respect and respect for the fans." Gene is determined that the band - who are approaching their 50th anniversary - will go out on a high. He added: "When we introduced ourselves, we actually laid down the gauntlet and said, 'You wanted the best, you got the best. The hottest band in the world, KISS'. I hope and pray that when we do our very last show, those words will still be true." The 'Crazy, Crazy Nights' group - completed by Paul Stanley, 69, Eric Singer, 63, and Tommy Thayer, 60 - resumed their 'End of the Road' world tour in September after the initial dates were cut short due to the pandemic. His comments come after fellow KISS rocker Paul also confirmed that the band plans to conclude their final jaunt in New York, where they formed.
  19. Jesy Nelson has responded to accusations of 'blackfishing' in her Boyz music video. After releasing her first single, Boyz, last week - nearly a year after exiting Little Mix due to mental health concerns - Nelson, 30, is responding to accusations that she appropriated Black culture in the music video. During an Instagram Live with Nicki Minaj, who features on the track, the singer said, "I personally want to say that my intention was never ever to offend people of colour with this video and my song because, like I said, growing up as a young girl, this is the music that I listened to. These are the videos that I watched and thought were the best. For me personally, '90s R&B were the best years in music. I just wanted to celebrate that. I just want to celebrate that era of music (that) I love." Social media users accused the songstress of darkening her skin colour and changing her hair for the video to present as racially ambiguous, a claim which Nelson has denied. "I'm just really lucky as a white girl that when I'm in the sun, I tan so dark, like so many people have said to me before, like Leigh-Anne (Pinnock) in the group has said, 'You sure you're like not mixed-race because you've got darker than me in the sun. That's crazy,'" she continued, noting that she wanted to appear on Instagram Live to show her natural hair, which she said she got from her father. The former girl band member was also asked about the accusations during an interview with Vulture, and she claimed she never received similar comments when she was still a member of Little Mix. Nelson said that she wants to be "authentic and true" to her sense of style, and if people do not like it then "don't be my fan, don't be a part of my journey." Later, Nelson said in a statement to the publication, "I take all those comments made seriously. I would never intentionally do anything to make myself look racially ambiguous, so that's why I was initially shocked that the term was directed at me."
  20. The possibility of setting up a British and Irish Lions women's team is to be looked at by a new feasibility group. England international Shaunagh Brown and Ireland's Niamh Briggs will form part of the 13-strong panel. It will be chaired by former Wales and Lions wing Ieuan Evans, now a Lions board member. "Women's rugby is experiencing unprecedented growth around the world, with participation levels continuing to increase every year," Evans said. "A women's Lions team is a big opportunity for the women's game, and I am looking forward to working with the steering group to assess its viability." World Rugby's women's high performance manager Nicky Ponsford is also part of the group, as are Gemma Fay, Scottish Rugby's head of girls and women's strategy, and Sue Day, the Rugby Football Union's chief operating and financial officer. The steering team will initiate a feasibility study to be oversees by a specialist consulting group. "I believe a women's Lions team is a huge opportunity, but there are a number of challenges to consider when looking to create a successful women's set-up," said Lions managing director and steering group member Ben Calveley. "Financial viability, suitable opposition and appropriate scheduling in the women's rugby calendar will all need rigorous analysis, research and careful consideration." 21. There are two murals of black footballers facing one another across an alleyway in Glasgow. One helped shape football as we know it, the other is Pele. Andrew Watson captained Scotland to a 6-1 win over England on his debut in 1881. He was a pioneer, the world's first black international, but for more than a century the significance of his achievements went unrecognised. Research conducted over the past three decades has left us with some biographical details: a man descended of slaves and of those who enslaved them, born in Guyana, raised to become an English gentleman and famed as one of Scottish football's first icons. And yet today, 100 years on from his death aged 64, Watson remains something of an enigma, the picture built around him a fractured one. His grainy, faded, sepia image evokes many different emotions: awe, pride, passion, and for one man in particular, discomfort. When Watson moved to Glasgow in 1875, aged 18, he had hardly played football. It was a time before professionalism, when the sport was still evolving and a single set of rules was yet to be universally adopted. Within six years he'd established himself as one of the most talented and well-respected players, a trailblazer who helped popularise the Scottish 'passing and running' game - an early step in football's evolution towards what we recognise today. Watson twice played against England, and on each occasion Scotland were convincing winners. The second victory, 5-1 at the original Hampden Park, was a pivotal result that convinced the English Football Association its approach needed to change. They turned to Watson to show them the way as a new elite amateur team was formed; Corinthian FC would later be credited with popularising football around the world. Watson, a public school educated player who would have spoken with the upper class accent of his new team-mates, was among the first recruits. He assumed the role of 'Scotch Professor' and taught his English peers - both at Corinthian and numerous other clubs and representative sides - "the science" of a more dynamic passing style. He is seen as a conduit who helped modernise football during a period of great upheaval that signalled the "death" of the "individual, dribbling game" - characterised by a single player running with the ball at his feet surrounded by eight forwards - that had been favoured by the English. "Pele was a genius footballer, but there are thousands of genius footballers whose influence dies with them the second they retire," says Ged O'Brien, founder of the Scottish Football Museum. "You can look at any game of football being played anywhere in the world - by any person of any gender or ethnicity or culture - and the ghost of Andrew Watson will be looking down on you, because they are playing his game. "Watson is the most influential black footballer of all time. There is nobody that comes close." Watson (fourth from right in back row), with the Scotland team that beat England 5-1 in 1882 During his lifetime, Watson's influence was felt across the game. He was a captain, a national cup winner, an administrator, investor and match official, each achievement and contribution made as the first black man to do so. Historians, researchers and academics have worked hard to bring his legacy to light. But unravelling his personal story has presented a different challenge. Watson was born in 1856, in Georgetown, Demerara, a colonial trading post established by the Dutch, captured by the French, then re-named by British rulers who imported slaves from Africa to work on its plantations. Now it's the capital of Guyana - which has been a republic since 1970, four years after it declared independence from Britain. It borders Suriname, Venezuela and Brazil. Watson moved to Britain aged around two. He was educated at some of the finest schools in England. His family boasted significant wealth and powerful family connections. Liverpudlian poet Mark Al Nasir spent years researching Watson's background. After first "seeing himself" in images of a 19th-century footballer broadcast on a BBC TV documentary in 2002, he traced his own ancestry back to Watson's in Guyana. "I saw a black guy from Guyana who was the world's first black footballer, who looked like me and has our family name. I thought: 'We have to be related,'" says Al Nasir, who changed his name from Mark Watson when he converted to Islam. 'Searching for my slave roots' "I grew up to feel worthless, that I was nobody, that I was from nothing. There was nothing to give me pride or dignity in being black. So seeing someone like him, one of the very architects of the game, I needed to find out what our connection might be. "I was looking for a sense of black pride, something in my history to be proud of." What Al Nasir found were ancestors who were both slaves and slave traders. "The blood of both courses through my veins and that is a dilemma that I have to reconcile within my own soul," he says. "And Andrew Watson's family consisted of both."
  22. Jon Gruden has resigned as the Las Vegas Raiders' head coach after allegations of inappropriate emails. The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times reported the existence of numerous emails that included racist, homophobic or misogynistic terms. Gruden was working as a commentator at the time before rejoining the Raiders on a 10-year, $100m deal in 2018. "I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt anyone," the 58-year-old said in a statement to confirm his resignation. "I love the Raiders and do not want to be a distraction." The following season he led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl success and after being sacked in early 2009, took a job with ESPN. An ESPN statement read: "The comments are clearly repugnant under any circumstance." On Monday, the New York Times reported that the NFL had flagged many emails written by Gruden, in which he allegedly used disparaging terms while expressing opposition to women serving as NFL referees, the league having gay players and the protests where players took a knee during the pre-game national anthem. Gruden was accused of using an anti-gay slur to describe NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, plus a different anti-gay slur while writing about Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team in 2014. NFL: Carl Nassib becomes first active player to come out as gay Carl Nassib: First active openly gay player 'historic' for NFL The Raiders currently employ the only active openly gay NFL player, defensive end Carl Nassib. That report followed the Wall Street Journal's on Friday that Gruden used racist language in a 2011 email when describing the appearance of DeMaurice Smith, the executive director of the NFL Players Association. Smith posted on Twitter on Monday: "The email from Jon Gruden - and some of the reaction to it - confirms that the fight against racism, racist tropes and intolerance is not over. This is not about an email as much as it is about a pervasive belief by some that people who look like me can be treated as less." Gruden is the first NFL coach to leave their job during the 2021 season and the Raiders announced that assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia will serve as interim head coach.

  25. Countries that have laws punishing LGBTQ people should not be able to host major sporting events, says Olympic diving gold medallist Tom Daley. Daley, who won gold in the men's synchronised 10m platform event in Tokyo, revealed he was gay in 2013. "In the Olympics there were more out sportspeople than at any other Games combined so that was amazing," the 27-year-old Briton told BBC Radio 5 Live. "But there were 10 countries competing where it is punishable by death." The countries where it is illegal to be gay Daley calls on nations to decriminalise homosexuality Daley, a three-time world champion and five-time European champion, added: "I've spoken very openly about the fact I don't think countries should be able to host an Olympic Games or a major sporting event if they have laws that criminalise or marginalise LGBT people, women, people of colour. "If it can't be an inclusive place to go and spectate or compete, if people don't think they are going to be safe, then those countries shouldn't be allowed to host the events until they change their laws. "We shouldn't just follow the money, we should worry about people's safety and human rights." In November and December 2022, football's World Cup will be staged in Qatar, a country where homosexuality is illegal. Officials have said Qatar will be safe for LGBTQ fans and players to come as long as they respected Qatari laws, but Daley believed the tournament should be staged elsewhere. Qatar 2022 World Cup head Hassan al-Thawadi defends gay laws "The Qatar World Cup next year, it's a country where you follow the money," added Daley. "But will women be safe or will LGBT people be safe going to spectate and will they be safe going there to compete? "We wonder why people don't come out, because we have to travel to these countries that are not going to accept you. "You could spend prison time in Qatar so it's a very scary situation for lots of LGBT athletes which is why there should be some kind of thought in which countries are allowed to host events. "There's still so many hate crimes against LGBT people and still very much people that do not accept the LGBT community for who we a
